small crowd at the Bren. UH up 4-2.
Pepperdine lost on starting middle when he rolled ankle during warmups.
Other championships Friday:
MIVA: Loyola at Lewis. likely they both get in. they finished 1-2 in conference.
EIVA: George Mason at Penn State.
UH up 15-13 at the TTO. Warriors have led the whole way but cannot get more than 2-point separation.
Mariota to the Titans.
UH with its first 3-point lead at 19-16. TO Waves
Fey with 7 kills. UH up 24-21. TO Waves
Congrats marcus.
Also, Fey for president. That is all

if you want to play along at home, game tracker link above.
UH hit .419 to Pepperdine’s .263
Fey 7-0-12
Zarkovic 6-2-9
Sedore 2-1-4
Averill 1-0-5
Fey’s first hitting error of the night, ties it 7. first time for the Waves since 2-2 in Set 1.
Rhein with an ace. Waves up 9-8. their first lead of the match.
waves up 15-12 at the TTO
Too many errors this second set, hitting and service.
Fey into the net, Pepperdine leads 21-17. TO UH
Hawaii within 22-20. about the score they were at when making their run against the Beach. Waves hit long. it’s 22-21. TO Waves
Pepperdine serving for the set at 24-21. TO UH
Fey’s come back down to earth, passing needs to improve so we can get Averill going, he’s been quiet.
Waves win 25-22
16. or perhaps Pepperdine finally took him seriously.
Waves continue to stack the block on Averill. UH has had to go to the pins for a reason.
Its defintely not Feys fault last set. Pepperdine was keying on him.
Theyre block is VERY VERY imposing.
Pepperdine up 15-13 at the TTO. Jennings called for an overreach.
UH up 16-15. TO Waves.
Jones into serve. Wave hitting error. UH up 19-16 TO Waves
Pepperdine have closed to 22-21. TO UH
Hawaii has been a better blocking team than pepperdine all season, hope they take the lead soon in blocks.
Not sure why Wade uses Leung as a serving sub, his serve is too easy.
Taylor having a great match. Ties it at 23. TO UH
Taylor makes it 25-24
Zarkovic hits long off a poor set Waves win 26-24
that was a disaster, passing fell apart, UH blockers need to stop going up with West.
Averill needs to get it going, UH is not gonna pull this off is he doesn’t start getting more kills and blocks.
Averill blocked. Pepperdine up 14-10. Wade didn’t wait for the TTO. TO UH
UH just looks off. They aren’t digging anything up, minus kanetake.
Too bad, kanatake’s passing has been shaky since set 2, and had to figure Siki and Fey would cool down from the first set, that bad thing is sedore has just not gotten it going.
Averill’s SE makes it 15-12 at the TTO. Hartley in for Sedore
Waves win the rally. it’s 18-13. TO UH. Think ref miss another lift on UCI
Hartley with a kill and Pepperdine error makes it 18-15. TO Waves
This is over, they gave up mid way in this fourth set.
Third set, Kanatake’s passing really did them in.
It was a great season, but horrible finish.
Jones in. will be a miracle run if he can do it this. it’s 24-16
Jones into the net. 25-16
Thank you for the season, Warriors. Heart breaking.
Only way UH gets in is if Irvine easily sweeps Pepperdine in the MPSF final IMO.
Is Josh Taylor brother to Nikki ?
Pepperdine could beat Irvine. They looked like champions today.
Yes, Josh Taylor is brother to Nikki.
43 Thanks. He was on tonight.
#41,
Yup.
Josh is her older bro.
40. doesn’t need to be an easy sweep. Hawaii has a solid resume and will be under consideration. but if UCI were to lose to USC then no chance.
Hawaii will be rooting for UCI tonight and tomorrow.
If Pepperdine were to beat UCI then Pepperdine gets the automatic and UCI the at-large.

above link for UCI=USC
42. I doubt it. UH played bad, Averill and Sedore just have not played well at all since senior night, and not sure why.
46. I was just thinking if Pepp keeps it close with Irvine and loses in 5, it would make the NCAA more symptathic to inviting them , especially since they got snubbed last year but if they look bad against Irvine it would make Uh chances a bit better.
49. they didn’t deserve to go last year. not with the criteria the committee now wants. Pepperdine played no one out of conference. went 18-6 in league, 1-1 in the MPSF tourney.
USC won the first set, darn.
I hope in next years outrigger, UH invites Lewis or Loyola, Penn State, and Erskine or someone from that conference that is the favorite to win to bolster rpi.
What are the chances of the at-large going to a team in the midwest?
UCI won…
Hawaii has a chance.
Considering UH beat Ohio State already, none,
It’s gonna be between UH and Pepp if Irvine wins tomomorrow, by the way that was close, USC almost pulled it out.
UCI wins 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 16-25, 15-11
53. there are 2 at-large berths. one will go to the MIVA tournament runner-up. Loyola is at Lewis. winner gets the automatic, loser should get the other at-large.
the other auto is to Pfeiffer of Conference Carolinas.
It is a 6-team tournament now
52. it will be interesting what they do with the outrigger. they are looking at making it 6-team tourney. Penn State and Ohio State have already said they won’t come back if there isn’t a second MPSF team. UH has been looking at adding a teams from Conference Carolinas. If they can get it funded for six, it might become 2 MPSF team (including UH), two MIVA or two EIVA and a CC team.
Wow how would that work? Each team play five times?
bringing in the favorite for conference carolina’s would just be smart due to RPI, not sure why OSU or PSU are opposed to that.
60. no, it would be 3 days with triple headers or four days, depending on how travel goes. .
OSU and PSU want the RPI and the regional competition that 2 MPSF teams brings. Conference Carolinas would lower the RPI. but it looks good for regional competition.
If they could get 2 other MPSF teams besides UH then it would be MPSP vs. best of the rest. the MPSF teams would not play each other.
Cindy, what did you mean by Oceanic Cable being free? One has to be an Oceanic TV subscriber to be able to watch the match. They didn’t offer the online broadcast to just anybody. I wouldn’t call it free for everybody, only to subscribers. I didn’t even try to watch or listen and that’s all right. Didn’t miss seeing the Warriors lose. I think that if Irvine beats Pepperdine in five sets, Pepperdine will get the at-large bid. Not looking good for UH.
Watching Austin Matuatia play makes me feel really good about UH men’s volleyball future. He has so much potential. Hope he grows a few more inches, but right now his backrow game and volleyball iq are really good for a junior.
61. I see, so UH would not play the other mpsf teams, makes sense.
62. I felt distraught after the UH loss earlier, but thinking it over I think the NCAA will choose UH over Pepperdine mainly because UH finished second in the mpsf regular season and have a winning record over Pepperdine. This of course if Irvine wins tomorrow.
62. B I VB fan; There was also a stream link of the UH match from the Hawaii Athletics site which was a stream from a UC Irvine crew. This was a different stream than the OC 16 one. They also had a stream of the USC vs. UC Irvine match after the first semi-final.
The sand bows open play at the AVCA championships tomorrow at 4 am hawaii time. Wow brutal. Do they play another match after that one as well?
62. it was free via you tube on the UH link. which is why I put up the links.
my mistake for typing Oceanic without giving the OCsports.tv link and combining the comment with the UH link. If you had clicked the arrow on the original post that was the UCI free stream.
as you said, you didn’t try. You could have easily listened as well. the internet radio was free.
66. yes. depends if they win or lose as to who they play. have mentioned the brackets in several places.
It’s why they went up Tuesday to get there Wednesday and acclimate.
