UH won’t open with Oregon in ’16

After opening the last five seasons against each other, Hawaii and Oregon will take a year off before the Ducks return to Hawaii to start the 2017 season.

UH’s 2016 baseball schedule is set, pending any late changes, with New Mexico replacing the Ducks as UH’s opening home series.

Hawaii will then travel to San Francisco for a weekend before returning home to play West Virginia, Michigan and Santa Clara in consecutive weeks. The Rainbow Warriors wrap up the season with their final conference series at Cal State Fullerton, followed by a nonconference series at Arizona.

UH has played Oregon at least once every year since the Ducks restarted their baseball program in 2009. UH beat the Ducks in a tournament, 3-1, in ’09 and won three of four in the second series of the season in 2010.

Since then, Oregon has played a four-game series here to start the season each year with the Ducks winning 13 of the last 16, including the last 11 in a row.

UH has never played West Virginia, which finished 28-26 last year and was sixth in the regular season in the Big 12. The ‘Bows are 0-2 all-time against Michigan, which finished 30-29-1 in 2014.

I hope you people of Hawaii read what other sports magazines besides SI!. The writer say a lot’s bad things about the University of Hawaii even when they out from the University!. Like one writer wrote about Kelton Wong when he got draft by the St. Louis Cardinals? It’s was worst thing for the Cardinals to drafted him. Because of his size and never make it in the Cardinals roster or the big league!. They made a biggest mistake of their life! . Look where he at now!. Best one of all the University of Hawaii players are to small!. Boy!. They really don’t understand us small person who live in Hawaii or not!. Our parents and coaches from high school to college said to us! Don’t care whatever other think or say about you just go out there and do it from your heart and mind!. And you will be fine.
