Full strength

The UH men’s basketball team experienced something today that it hasn’t truly had since the preseason: a completely healthy roster.

With senior forward Bill Amis involved in full practice for the first time since the first four games of the season, and freshman point guard Bobby Miles back from getting wisdom teeth pulled this week, UH was at its full complement of 13 players.

Makes for an interesting WAC home opener tomorrow as UH (9-5, 0-2) against Idaho (7-6, 1-1).

The White (first) team failed to win a drill called “two stops, two scores” in several attempts near the end of Tuesday’s practice. In it, the White squad is behind by four points with 2 minutes on the clock and needs two stops and two scores to send the game into overtime or win it outright.

It was a frustrating finish to that practice, but midway through today’s session, coach Gib Arnold felt confident enough to try it again.

The White squad executed much better in scenario’s pressure situations and broke through on their second try today.

Nice to see the whole team healthy for once. Bill Amis will be the piece that has probably been missing in our team finishing games off strong. Vander has stepped up nicely and the youngins are getting valuable experience as well. I like the aggresive nature of this team and the all-around talent we have. It will pay off ten fold once we get into the thick of the conference play and hopefully get a 20win season and a shot at March Madness. One thing id like to see though is Joston Thomas taking a more aggresive aproach offensively as he could totally be a 20 – 10 type player easy.

I also look forward to the return of Bill Amis; he alone would’ve been worth at least 2 more victories than they now have. I also hear that Dominic Brumfeld (Brumfield?) is returning to form after that knee injury and I expect him to be a big contributor before the season is over.

Praying he stays healthy for the rest of the season. The team really needs him.

So, who’s the future, Bill Amis…if he is the best player on the team????, wish Amis was just a junior.

Is the recruiting all done for now??, anybody knows?

hope this is the end of bill’s foot problems. we need his shooting, rebounding and shot blocking. its been sorely (no pun intended) missed. vander and doug have been relatively good on the rebounding but they did not intimidate anyone’s shots. having bill to compliment them at the 4 will be nice. and if brumfield comes around, who knows!?!

    Aloha e brian,

It’s very hard to find this bolg. It is not mentioned anywhere on the Star adertiser site.

By the way, what the hell happened last night.

Do the refs know what an offensive foul is?

    kden, puhi

My understanding is she has an ankle injury. But her production and minutes were falling even before that.

    Hey Puhi,

Sorry about the difficulty finding the blog. That blog wheel on the right side of the main Star-Advertiser page is where to find it, and if you don’t see my most recent entry in the wheel, click on ‘view all blogs’ just below that and I should be among that full listing.
And yes, some of those offensive fouls, particularly the ones called on Hiram Thompson in the first half, were suspect.
