Irvine just beat CSUN…I think the Matadors are done…

  2. vbfan November 29, 2014 7:29 pm

CSUN loses at home to UCI 3-1. Looks like no NCAA tourney this year for Northridge

  3. Kazu November 29, 2014 7:35 pm

LBS going be the bull of the Big West.

  4. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 7:51 pm

1 yep, think so too. As does Shoji and the UCD coach.
CSUN had a chance to push it to five, led 25-24. UCI scores the last 3 points.

Long Beach runs the table, 9th perfect season in Big West history. 49ers have 5 of the 9. UH 3.

  5. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 8:06 pm

No change in the lineup. Higgins, Taylor, Magill, Manu-Olevao, Greeley, mendoza, Adolpho.

  6. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 8:14 pm

    UH up 9-4. TO UCD

  7. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 8:25 pm

UH with its third block. up 19-16. TO UCD

  8. Maverick November 29, 2014 8:26 pm

That’s a shame about Northridge. Would have been good to have 3 Big West teams in the tournament for the second straight year, in terms of national exposure and a little more respect for the conference.

  9. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 8:31 pm

    UH wins 25-19

  10. Setaone November 29, 2014 8:32 pm

Glad to see Aldopho expanding her hits with the quicks in front the setter.

  11. Warrior Dave November 29, 2014 8:36 pm

Refs missed a couple of calls in set 1.

  12. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 8:45 pm

    11. Agree but didn’t affect the outcome. UH up 15-8 at the TTO.

  13. Z November 29, 2014 8:47 pm

    Kahakai passing good tonight.

  14. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 8:47 pm

Adolpho with that inside slide, UH up 17-9. TO UCD

  15. Setaone November 29, 2014 8:48 pm

    Aldopho came to play tonight!

  16. Warrior Dave November 29, 2014 8:52 pm

The Slide is pounding the ball tonight.

  17. Z November 29, 2014 8:53 pm

    Kalei in the zone.

  18. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 8:54 pm

Taylor with her seventh kill. UH up 22-13. TO UCD

  19. Big Island VB fan November 29, 2014 8:55 pm

Would like to see Ginger Long get at least one final kill in her career.

  20. Kazu November 29, 2014 8:56 pm

Looks like Wahine wants to make it a short night.

  21. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 8:58 pm

    Long ends it 25-16.

  22. Big Island VB fan November 29, 2014 8:59 pm

Yay, I got my wish. At last Ginger Long got a kill to seal the set.

  23. jmy November 29, 2014 9:00 pm

I can’t believe that FSU is still at #3 RPI…

  24. Z November 29, 2014 9:01 pm

    Our middles leading the pack.

  25. Z November 29, 2014 9:02 pm

    Mendoza with 12 digs.

  26. Z November 29, 2014 9:03 pm

    Wahine really passing well tonight.

  27. Big Island VB fan November 29, 2014 9:05 pm

Now, my next wish is for Kalei Adolpho to stay perfect and cap her career with a brilliant finish.

  28. ashley November 29, 2014 9:09 pm

if your watching at home, seriously it feels like Adolpho is the only senior. you hardly hear Sarah’s name mentioned or even Ginger. no hate, I’m just saying I wish they’d acknowledge the other two girls as much as they are with Kalei

  29. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 9:16 pm

    18. Adolpho having a monster night so she would get more mention. Long barely played so far, Mendoza having a nice defensive night.

  30. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 9:16 pm

    UH up 9-5. TO Davis

  31. PBnJz November 29, 2014 9:20 pm

Ginger did get a very large cheer from the SSC crowd when she entered the match! And another for her kill!

  32. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 9:22 pm

    UH up 15-8. TO Davis

  33. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 9:29 pm

    31. just responding to why the other 2 seniors didn’t get more attention. Long did get a nice cheer.

  34. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 9:31 pm

    Long ends it. 25-15

  35. Big Island VB fan November 29, 2014 9:36 pm

Both wishes came through. Kalei Adolpho stayed perfect (no hitting errors) and Ginger Long sealed the third set and entire match with a kill. Nice way to go out for both Maui girls.

  36. po'okela November 29, 2014 10:01 pm

did anyone see any recruits in the audience?

  37. islandman November 29, 2014 10:14 pm

The team to every wahine has great rhythm which they showed in their dance after the match. Nice of the seniors to get the whole team in the dance presentation .

  38. wildcard November 29, 2014 10:14 pm

woohoo! good job wahine! told you all they dominate that weakling davis!

congratulations to ginger, kalei and sarah on their wahine career!!!

  39. Cindy Luis November 29, 2014 10:59 pm

very efficient match for Hawaii. hit .330 for the night, all five starting attackers with 6 kills or more. 9.5 blocks, 45 digs, Mendoza with 16. five aces, 8 SEs, five those in Set 1. Squyres came in averaging 4 kps and hitting .441. She finished with four kills on 21 swings and hit negative.
they passed well which had Higgins able to have all options available. Thought she set a nice match. Many times her hitters had 1-on-1 chances or no blocker.
Davis coach said their plan was to stopped Magill and they were unable to, she was able to hang and go over their block. 8-2-15. Don’t think he was expecting Hawaii consistency on the OH. Taylor took a lot of trouble sets but still hit pretty well 9-4-25.

What I’ll be watching on Selection Sunday:

    1. Will the Pac-12 tie last year’s league record 9 bids? Or will it set another league record with all 4 “bubbles” — Oregon St, Arizona St, Utah, and USC — getting a RSVP to the Big Dance?

    2. WCC should get 2 bids — AQ BYU (rpi 20) and surprising runner-up Pacific (rpi 48) — but will another sneak in? Slim to no chance.. Santa Clara (rpi 45) and San Diego (rpi 42) tied for 3rd in the Standings, but 4th place LMU (rpi 39) has the WCC’s second best RPI after BYU.

    3. Used to be easy to predict where UH would be sent — Galen Center of course. But not this year. I am clueless but I’ll predict Colorado State (Mountain West winner) will be Seed 16, and Na Wahine will be sent to Fort Collins along with North Colorado (Big Sky champ) and a Pac-12 squad. Would be funny if that Pac-12 squad turns out to be USC (if it gets an unlikely at-large bid).

    4. Year of Redemption: No one and done. LBSU (26-4) looks determined to go deep and has a resume — 17 straight wins since its Sept 20 loss to Oregon State — to back it. UH wins all but 1 — 5-set loss to LBSU — of its last 10 matches. Both teams will represent. Bring it! No one and done!

Here we come, and Team Shoji says Na Wahine is ready for Prime Time! Go Bows!

  41. roofer68 November 29, 2014 11:19 pm

    36. Didn’t spark any recruits at all.

I thought that was the best backrow play that I’ve seen from Olevao all season long.

Crafty Shoji with the right timing to sub in Kalei then out with Maglio in the 3rd set. Giving Ginger the shots to end the 2nd set and then the match point.

  42. Big Island VB fan November 29, 2014 11:28 pm

    40. You might be right about UH being sent to Colorado State. One previous time UH was sent to Colorado when Tara Hittle was in the team. However, I think that it will be Colorado rather than USC that would be sent to Colorado State. Different conference which is good, but same state. USC might not make it to the tournament. Still, all this is speculation and we could be both wrong about where UH will be sent. Maybe Washington like a few years ago.

  43. Cubicle1126 November 29, 2014 11:42 pm

i have no idea where hawaii will be sent. i hope at least that it’s to a lower seeded team where they have a chance to make a nice run to a regional.

no matter where they’re sent … i hope they take the energy and focus they played this senior night with them.

  44. Cindy Luis November 30, 2014 7:19 am

Only recruit that I knew of in the arena was on unofficial sand visit. If you remember former UH basketball player Fabio Ribeiro, he and his daughter were there Saturday night. She’s just a sophomore in high school but already 6-2.
He and I had a brief chat. said it was great to be back in Hawaii, loved the new campus sand courts. Lives in Austin, not far from the Poppingas (Brian and wife Karrie Trieschman).

  45. Astroboy November 30, 2014 9:32 am

Great Senior Night! That’s the Kalei I’ve wanted to see playing for years! And glad to see Ginger able to end on a high note. Now if they can just hold that level of focus in the post-season.

  46. warriorfan November 30, 2014 11:16 am

I just hope they don’t get sent to Stanford or PSU , I think they have a shot to advance to the sweet sixteen against anyone else.

  47. tongo November 30, 2014 12:46 pm

Solid game by Tai. Glad to see the good receiving and digging. Happy that you are seeing the block better and placing the shots, and not trying to crush every ball through the block. Your hitting percent reflects it. Keep it up.

  48. wildcard November 30, 2014 3:25 pm

it was white out on senior night wasnt it? na wahine showed davis the shock troops of na wahine and gave the right fanfare for kalei, ginger and mendoza to be a celebrated wahine!
