Gauchos 3 Warriors 0 Night 2
West starting at middle. Warriors have Phelps in the two-libero system
Warriors got down earlier, 3-0. Came back to 11-9 but now it’s 15-9 at the TTO.
Someone asked about the UCSB setter from last night. mentioned I had heard it was a stomach problem, perhaps food poisoning. confirmed a stomach problem. He’s not dressed and in street clothes.
UH hitting 000 and SB 429. passing horrible.
Gauchos on a 5-0 run. 16-9.

Make that 6-0. 17-9. TO UH.
This is a pathetic start, do or die game and they start like this?
Olsen in at the other middle. UH has pulled to 21-16. TO UCSB
Olsen serving tough. couple hitting errors and UH to 21-18.
Warriors to within 22-21 on kill by Zarkovic. TO Gauchos.
Impressive turnaround with Max & Jace in.
Gauchos with 2 quick points. 24-21. TO UH.
Evans with his fifth kill ends it 25-22
The frustrating thing is that UCSB is playing average and really they only have one great middle, the rest of their players are not that impressive to me, UH is just making so many self inflicted errors UGH!
Great comeback though, it’s so obvious to me that Wechsung’s set location is better, I don’t get why Wade doesn’t see it.
UCSB hit 321 to UH’s 167
0 aces either side, SB with 6 SEs, UH 5
7 digs for UCSB, 6 for UH
UCSB 1 block, UH 2
Sedore 1-2-7, Averill 0-1-2, Marks 2-0-3, Zarkovic 3-2-8, west 2-0-3, Olsen 2-0-2
for UCSB Kingi 1=1=2, Evans 5-0-8, Licht 8-3-13, Staahl 1-0-1
Hawaii again having problems with the soft roll shot. UCSB up 7-5.
Sedore and Averill with the stuff. ties it briefly at 8 but Staahl puts the Gauchos back up 9-8.
Worst thing for a hitter. Ramos with a solo on Evans.
wow, Ramos with another stuff of Evans. UH up 13-11.
That was a sticky no call set. UCSB converts and now leads 15-14 at the TTO>
And just like that, UCSB gets on another run, this is 5-0. Now leading 18-14. TO UH.
Is this the same rotation the Warriors were in last night’s fourth set when UCSB went on a run and won the match?
Whew thank goodness Gaucho’s serving run is over
Kocur serving tonight for that run. Last night, it was Austin Kingi
Smart move…timeout at 24-19…
Gauchos win 25-20. not looking real good. not with Sedore and Zarkovic both having off nights.
Hit %: UCSB .370, UH .137…that just about sums it up…
UCSB hitting 370 for the night, UH 137.
0 aces for either team
UCSB with 12 SEs, UH 8 Warriors 6 blocks, Gauchos 5-5
UH with 10 digs, UCSB 11
Sedore 4-6-17, Averill 2-1-5, Marks 2-0-3, Zarkovic 5-4-11,
West 3-0-6, Olsen 3-2-7,
A Kingi 6-1-8, Thompson 1-2-4, Evans 7-2-14, Davids 1-0-3, licht 12-5-21, Staahl 3-0-3
I really don’t know what Wade is doing tonight with the subs, makes no sense to me, Team seemed to get momentum with Wechsung then he puts in ramos then Wechsung again. Not sure why JP was taken out when Sedore and Siki are the ones struggling. JP had two kills and no errors, jesus!!!!
Marks back in and Olsen. Sedore on the bench. Obviously they’re shaking things up. Evans looking hurt. That could be a factor.
Goswiller in for Evans. Puts down his first kill of the season. UCSB up 3-2.
WF, you mention Wechsung. Don’t know why but I do think Ramos gets to the ball quicker, better passer if he has to take the first ball. UCSB with an aces. UCSB up 7-4.
Cindy, why was this whole blog hidden from the Star Advertiser website for the first two sets? How did the other bloggers find this web page? It is still not shown in the blogs.section even though I reloaded the newspaper website.
Just don’t seem them pushing this to 4. UCSB up 10-7
Warriors have come back to tie at 10. TO UCSB
Warriors not giving up but down 15-13 at the TTO
UCSB up 18-12 TO UH.
think it is over. UCSB up 20=16.
Marks into the net. It’s 21-16. TO UH
I do hope the Warriors have enough stuf to push the Gauchos to a fourth. *crossing finger*
I’m curious why Wade started Phelps over Kanetake tonight. Kolby did a solid job last night…oooh I think you may be right, Cindy, it looks like it’ll be a sweep. =-(

awww out of the tournament again…Mark, Siki and Sedore have a lot to learn about keeping the ball in play. Too much hitting errors.
Thank God for those UCSB service errors or the score would be a lot worse…
What you’re viewing is a TOTAL melt-down of the Warrior’s program.
UH is halfstepping their way through this match with NO momentum @ all!!
This comes as a result of too many subs. throughout the season; the boys DON’T have any confidence to make anything happen because they’ve not been able to build up any team cohesion throughout.
Momentum/psychology is H-U-G-E in VB.
Poho!
Anybody know how’s won the Haili Tourney, anyway?!
UH down 24-19. Marks to serve
Who’s
Licht with his 18th ends it 25-19. Back in a bit
I remember when Wilton determined his starters based on who performed well in practice that week…that team had a revolving door lineup from match to match and was never able to develop any kind of chemistry…
(37) volley fan, I didn’t go through SA to get here; I have this blog site as a bookmark.
Final Hit%: UCSB .349, UH .132…
So, Cindy, how can I access your bookmark directly? I have no idea.
As to post mortems to this match, all I can say is have no regrets of missing the playoffs. This young team wasn’t ready for it anyway and on the bright side, it will be spared an extra trip to BYU. I saw how BYU smashed up USC tonight. So there’s a silver lining after all. This was a year to grow. So work hard to make it next year.
They have 2 more wins than last season’s debacle, wow what great growth. NOT!
Warriorfan, please do not feel bitter. I didn’t state that they grew much. I just said that this was a growing season. If they don’t make the playoffs next year either, then you can feel bitter. For now, I find solace that they don’t have to be sent to the lion’s den at BYU. This is one reason why I watch the BYU broadcasts so I can see a winning team. I just love volleyball whether win or lose. I appreciate the effort even if the team is not successful. I know it’s frustrating and maddening when they make so many errors, but then I’m glad it’s not me. I’d hate to be in that spot.

sorry, didn’t realize there was a problem with the blog. Considering how many comments and updates, it should have been at the top of the list.
Thanks vlimafan. I just did that.
