Rick Taylor to take a break
It’s sad to hear that slotback Rick Taylor has decided to not play football this coming season.
Taylor, a very good student, will focus on his studies. He needs 21 credits to earn a bachelor’s degree.
Taylor will remain on scholarship.
Taylor is one of the good guys: always upbeat and, despite limited playing time in games and practices, a supportive teammate.
He fulfilled his role with pride and dignity.

Honoring Our Fallen For Their Ultimate Sacrifice…
Grattitude to all Americans of our Armed Forces who have sacrificed their lives for our pursuit of freedom and happiness.
To all of those who have shed blood for this great country…hooorah.
Happy Memorial Day.
Sincerely, “the Ayatollah of Rockin Roll-ah”
You smell that? Napalm…. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You either surf or you fight, and for all of those who chose to fight and gave their lives doing it. I salute you and your families.
To all my OCS classmates, OC 3-66, who gave their lives in Viet Nam and all the others who contributed to the US Army, I salute and honor you and yur families on this special day of rememberance.

Memorial Day.
Will the day ever arrive
when men will turn
their swords into plows?
Since paradise was lost
the killing fields got only bigger,
fertilized with blood.
We honor our fallen,
with pomp and guilty hearts,
not always sure of rightousness,
but grateful for their task
to keep us safe and sound
behind our city walls.
Can we just hope,
that one day near,
mankind no longer speaks for God,
but shares a promise made,
so long ago,
of our common ground?
It is my dream
and deepest wish,
that one day not too far,
the reason for Memorial day,
may be for all of us
a distant memory
Great decision Rick. Work towards that degree first and then football. Good Luck.
wafan #166 yesterday:
exact amoundo! – pilgrims were “kicked” out of Europe because of religion only to form their own “sect” in the New World.
On our East Coast trip in 1985, we visited Plymouth and the “rock” that now places their time in history – quite interesting.
At times, I wonder, if our Bill of Rights and Constitution would have been written the same way if it was written today rather than 3 centuries ago. Conditions were surely different then.
Mr. Rick Taylor:
Thank you for being a Warrior and much success, health, and happiness in all your future endeavors!!
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Anybody near a T.V. ought to turn on ESPN for the final minutes of the NCAA D-1 lacrosse final. Very exciting.
Whoa.. so is Rick going to take all 21 credits in the fall?
Quiet day.
We will miss you Rick, but best wishes and get your sheepskin.
Best of luck to Rick! Your priorities are correct.
Top Twenny!
Happy Memorial Day Gangeez! 🙂
Here’s to all those honored on this day.
And here’s to Rick Taylor, a great Warrior and a good “soldier” in his own right.
Will Rick maybe be back as a grad student? Is this his final year of eligibility?
1000 mahalos to all our fellow veterans and those about to be. your service to our nation is undeniably a great sacrifice to all of us on the home front.
Godspeed and God bless you all!
i tip my hat to you, rick taylor.
Best wishes to Rick Taylor in pursuit of his degree and future life challenges…. and thank you and your family for your membership, committment and dedication to our warrior ohana.
lost in the shuffle…………
congratulations to kevin “my name is not ishii” fujii for being named the only hawaii player on the all wac tournament team.
and how about the stuff that dreams are made of?
kevin ribera a seldom used reserve replaces a suspended starter on the championship fresno st team only to hit two game winning two run homeruns to propel the defending national champs in to the ncaa tourney. oh, yah, he is named the mvp of the tournament.
fresno st woke up after our series in the valley with them. good teams will do that. shudder the thought that they have 15 freshmen on that team.
al,
Add my congrats to Mr. “Ishii” Fujii. 😆
…the other one….aikeavewwylido 🙄
Good Luck to Rick Taylor.
(normally pull for the Lakers)
Go AC!!!
(and due to the weather)
Find A/C!
forty wins ain’t enough.
both new mexico st and san jose st were ousted from the ncaa’s. i thought at least one of em had a shot. but, then again many prognosticators did say only one wac team would get in.
Best wishes to all the members of our armed forces both past and present and to their famililes who sacrifice so much so that the rest of us can enjoy the freedoms and liberties we so often take for granted in our lives. Thank you and God bless.
al, two words. Politics, Selection Committee. maybe three words.
NMSU and San jose state have woeful RPIs, I am not surprised they didn’t get picked, they need to schedule tougher non conference opponents.
and yet the bg12 & sec have 8 teams each, that’s a sweet sixteen all by themselves.
thats true that the rpi hurt them and conversely it helped okie st (32-22) who didn’t even make it to the big12 tournament,
These are the 10 member selection committee for baseball. The committee is loaded to the east, south, and midwest. Somehow, the NCAA thinks that the east plays better baseball than the west. St Johns, Bucknell, Bethune-Cookman, and UL Monroe are represented on the committee. Why?????? The Patriot League????

It also helps when the chair for this committee is the Deputy Commissioner of the Big 12.
An you wonder why the WAC gets shafted.
Former K-State AD will be allowed to make case for conference teams
May 12, 2009 – 9:57pm
MANHATTAN — When it comes to the NCAA baseball tournament selections, Kansas State and other Big 12 Conference teams could have an influential voice presenting their case.
Tim Weiser, the former K-State athletic director, is deputy commissioner of the Big 12 and serves as chairman of the NCAA selection committee. And unlike past years, conference representatives this year will not have to abstain from any discussions of their own teams.
Just this week, the 10-member committee made up of athletic directors, conference commissioners, coaches and other administrators, completed the first of a series of conference calls.
The committee will gather Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis to select teams and assign them to regional sites.
Each member of the committee was assigned to focus on a geographic region throughout the season. Weiser was assigned to the Midwest and is in charge of the Big 12, Missouri Valley Conference and Horizon League.
Funny! There are only two positions from what I would consider to be western states — AZ and CA. Do these people know there are actually 50 states? That what used to be the west is now the mid-west?
Geez. Just slightly biased.
isn’t rpi a wonderful way to determine who plays??? selection does not take into consideration, travel distance, costs to travel, etc which today determines who you play. Can San Jose and New Mexico afford to travel and play tougher rpi teams in today’s situation??? Also how can you use rpi for the entire us??? Does the ACC play better ball than the WAC??? Maybe, but they don’t play each other, so what is there to judge?? RPI?????
Denny Flanagan, AJ Martinez, JFerg, & Rick were all GREAT guys who suffered many untimely injuries… I will predict that Rick will make one heck of a RNS coach in the Future…. GOD Bless you Rick… YOU DA MAN!11

No politics on selection??? BS!!!! Final poll shows 4 teams ahead of Texas and Oklahoma not in the top 10. Remember who is the chair for this committee. RPI??? Look at the top 30 teams and you see the RPI after the win-loss record. Some things neva change.
The University of Texas was selected Monday as the top seed for the 64-team Division I baseball tournament.
The Longhorns (41-13-1), who won the Big 12 tournament for the fourth time, will host one of 16 four-team, double-elimination regionals that begin Friday. It’s the second time Texas, coached by Division I career victories leader Augie Garrido, has been the No. 1 overall seed.
“It’s an honor to be the No. 1 seed, but we know all too well that being named No. 1 by someone doesn’t get you anything,” Garrido said. “You have to go play the games to earn the No. 1 that means something.”

Notice the word, RPI, comes into play, but does the seeding reflect it???
“We felt good about the decisions, not that we didn’t recognize that there were going to be people disappointed,” Weiser said. “And that is a heavy burden that we always feel about those kids, those teams that don’t get a chance, but I don’t remember a time where the committee didn’t have that same issue.”
Meanwhile, Oklahoma State (32-22) received an at-large bid despite not making the Big 12 tournament. The Cowboys were rewarded for a strong RPI and a 22-19 record against top 100 teams.
“Certainly we realize we’re going to be criticized or supported for our decisions,” Weiser said. “But the process has worked well for us in the past and it continues to work well, and until we come up with a better system, this is what we have to operate with.”
ok, that’s it for ncaa baseball. the WAC got shafted because their teams “RPI” weren’t good enough, but is it possible that our commissioner is too weak to represent the WAC???
whitey . . .
He has to be stronger to be considered weak.
And, if he and his croonies do not want to hear negative comments they have two choices: do not go out in public, or address the issues.
a heartfelt mahalo to all those who have served, are serving now, and will serve in the future to defend our country. mahalo to you and your ohana for allowing us the freedom that we take for granted all too often….God Bless and God Speed
whitey….so, let’s talk golf.
don’t you think that inspite of placing 26th, michelle wie made great strides in this recent tournament. she actually sucked it up inspite of a devasting first round, didn’t sulk, didn’t make an excuse, and actually played well the final three rounds.
to me, she finally showed some maturity, which i believe will pave the way for her success in the near future. her putts also looked more steady and she didn’t have a mini-tantrum when she missed.
i think if she played full time on the lpga her first win is just around the corner. all she needs is to get the first win.
…and not bad earning $303K for just a half year of “work”.
wafan, your anwers are better than the man on top of the mountain. i would have not looked at it the way you put it. bing!!! lights go on in whitey’s cranium (notice I neva say brain). hahahaha
The NCAA doesn’t look at national rankings, they look at RPI to determine seedings.
I agree with the ncaa this year NMSU(rpi of 119) and San Jose state ( rpi of 76) did not deserve ncaa bids., especially not NMSU they jacked up their winning record against a bunch of nobodys in the pre wac schedule.
It’s too bad hawaii faltered so bad late in the season, just a little over a month ago they were in the top 20 in RPI. Sure wish we had a coach that could get the team playing well late in the season when it matters the most.
whitey….for some “RPI” is equivalent to “RIP”.
LPGA, aka as the 38th parallel tour.
al, i have always been a mw fan, but not a fan of her coaching. yes, she has grown up and taking responsibilities for her action and i am impressed that she is doing well. it is hard to put together 3 or 4 rounds, but what impressed me with this past tourney was that she finished on a high. i thought that she would birdie out for -6. before she usually folded on the last day. another thing was that her driving distance improve by 20 yds during the tourney. her day of winning is not too far off. i still think she should get another coach. her move to tiger’s agency was probably her most important one this year and i don’t think nike will let her go.
Thanks to all the Vets on Memorial Day!
Well, we got into Yankee Stadium today at $20 per. Unfortunately, the Yankees are in Texas playing an away game.
Took in the stadium tour. Got to touch the $2500 seats, sit in the dugout, and take a peek into the Yankee locker room. Those of you planning on coming to NYC next year while attending the Army game may want to take in the tour.
al, and the number 1 reason is that she is the no 1 draw for the LPGA. just check any tourney attendance record and you will see that whenever she plays, crowd counts goes up.
oldie, that is a good one. $20 for a seat in Yankee Stadium!!!!!
Central Arkansas
American Idol winner, Kris Allen, is a business major in his junior year at the U. of Central Arkansas.
Oh well, so much for their API….
d1…hahahaha.
back to golf…everyone is waiting to help her celebrate her first win. it’ll be good for the women’s game.
and yes, i agree with you wf2 that 38th parallel is becoming too dominant. the game needs an american winner.
whitey,
My son just happened to see the ad for the tour on the Internet. It was better than not getting in at all. I wanted sit in the plush seat behind the plate, but that was a no-no.
There’s air conditioning blowing into the dugout. I guess they don’t the high paid stars to suffer.
The $60 dollar bleacher seats in the outfield are just bench seats. Someone said they’re sold out for the year. Not sure if that’s true.
did you hear about the alleged “stacking of votes” via GIZMO5?
i mean how can a state with a population of just 2.8 million place 38 million votes. you could see the faces of disbelief on stage last week. that’s really going to put a damper on the viewership in the future.
back to work and carlos santana.
In 2008, only the second season in the SLC for UCA, Clint Conque’s Bears put together a season for the ages that will go down as one of the greatest in 100 years of UCA football.
The Bears went 10-2 – one of only 12 teams in FCS football to reach double digits – and had the best record in Southland play, finishing the year atop the league with a 6-1 mark after being selected 4th by the league’s coaches in the preseason. UCA finished the season ranked No. 11 in the nation – its second time in three years of D-I play to finish in the Top 25 – and Conque was rewarded with the SLC Coach of the Year award and was named the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Region 5 FCS Coach of the Year. He was also selected as a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award – given annually to the nation’s top FCS coach.
UCA finished the season 10th nationally in both pass offense (282.3 ypg) and total offense (438 ypg), while putting up 37.5 points per game – tied for third best in the country. The Bears were also 6th in pass efficiency (162.5), 3rd in kick returns (24.8 yards per return), 8th in 3rd down conversion percentage (48.1) and led the nation in net punting – averaging 37.94 per punt while allowing only 25 total punt return yards for the year.
Quarterback Nathan Brown, a preseason all-american selection, was named the SLC Player of the Year and defensive end Larry Hart was the league’s Defensive POY as the Bears placed 13 on the all-conference teams. Brown concluded the most prolific career of any collegiate quarterback in Arkansas history, finishing with more than 10,000 passing yards and 100 passing TDs. His 3,206 passing yards and 31 TDs this season were both school records, and he finished with a 30-10 (.750) record as a starter.
Hmmm…sounds familiar.
As it has for most of the spring, the University of Central Arkansas defense was dominant in the Bears’ Purple-Gray Game on Friday night at First Security Field at Estes Stadium.
The UCA offensive units, attempting to replace two All-Americans and three starting offensive linemen, scored a combined 13 points as the Purple beat the Gray 10-3. The Purple totaled 129 yards of offense, while the Gray finished with 113.
“Offensively, I am very disappointed in the overall production,’ said UCA head coach Clint Conque. “There were way too many penalities. The offensive line play overall was very poor and we cannot have a good offense unless we improve up front.
“Not having several players and injuries created a lack of chemisty and continuity in the line.’
d1….so did nathan brown graduate?
and has conque played baseball?
ok tsaikos, my spacecraft is getting warmed up and i hear voices thru “transcendented” cranium. not from the darkside, but from a newer part of the universe. going check it out. ten four, over and out.
ST,
Sorry this was carried over from yesterday’s blog.
When you mentioned that Smethurst and Gonzales were “penciled in” at #1 and #2 in the pitcher “chart”, was Baughman really behind Ricketts at #4? Was it because of Baughman’s injury from last season and early on this past year? That’s kind of far back yeah? Or was Gonzalez showing that much potential before her injury?
al,
Yep, along with his top receiver…
While the airplanes carrying former University of Central Arkansas football players Nathan Brown and Marquez Branson will be heading in opposite directions Thursday morning, they will be taking the two former Bears to the same destination _ the National Football League.
Brown signed a free-agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaquars and Branson with the Denver Broncos at the conclusion of the 2009 NFL Draft on Sunday. They both report for mini-camp on Thursday to get their first taste of professional football.
I can’t have a Santana Session without this one…

Oh to be a fly on the wall when Trapasso and Donovan meet…
Or perhaps a beatwriter “walking in” on the meeting…??? 😆
IDK about baseball….
A graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, La., Conque played collegiately at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La. As a senior, he was team captain and an Associated Press First Team All-American selection at linebacker. In 1997, Conque was selected to the Nicholls State Silver Anniversary Team and in 2005 was inducted into the NSU Hall of Fame.
Following his time at Nicholls, Conque landed with the Los Angeles Raiders of the NFL only to have his career cut short by injury in 1983. He then returned to Nicholls and began his coaching career in a graduate assistant’s role.
***Off-topic ranting***
Saw Terminator Salvation yesterday and I must say that I CANNOT wait for Transformers 2: The Revenge of the Fallen!!! 😆
As a fan of the Terminator franchise, if felt like T3: Rise of the Machines was done in haste to remind folks that doomsday was going to happen no matter what happened in T2; Judgment Day. T4: Salvation had promise in many people’s minds. Christian Bale did a good job as John Connor and Sam Worthington made a good impression as Marcus Wright, but I think a lot of Terminator fans wanted a sense of “closure” and maybe it was our fault for expecting T4 to bring that closure to everything or maybe I’m looking too far into it.
James Cameron did the first two movies and famous music video director “McG” directed this latest edition of Terminator.
Too often when a new director takes on a sequel or extension to a franchise does it leave fans wanting more. Well except for what Christopher Nolan did as he SAVED the Batman franchise from being a joke!
T4 is good for the most part, but not exactly part of the summer “blockbusters” that usually come out. I still don’t know how “Night at the Museum ” beat it though… Never hated Ben Stiller so much in a movie before.. 👿
d1…we all have our own santana favorites
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0uHRl-Q8Fo&feature=related
T4 rocked. Though not as good as Star Trek, it moved the story forward in an intriguing and thoughtful way, with lots of explosions of course. I liked that although the story deals ultimately with fate, it never squashes hope and yet still warns us as UH futurist Jim Dator (and avid UH fan) says, we create our tools, and then they create us.
So there are some 100 days until the football season starts. ST: just enough time to do a short bio on each UH football player. How about offering them a standard format: name, position, high school, summer plans, goals for next year, what is the best thing they like about Hawaii. Something like that.
i used to play with my son’s transformers and wondered how come we didn’t have these back then. all we had was gumby and tin soldiers.
Kazz:
Baughman was coming off an arm injury, so there wasn’t much expectation for her.
But when Smethurst was out, then they slotted Baughman in there, along with Gonzalez. Gonzalez got hurt, and Baughman was more of a once-through-a-lineup pitcher. That’s when Ricketts emerged.
But give credit to Baughman. She really gutted it out this year, and became an effective No. 2.
Santana covers were rocking at the party last night.
Time to make some kalbi to go with my killer (yahoo!) cuke gimchi!

Hi ST!
NYUH,
Never saw Star Trek yet. I did hear good things even from people that weren’t too big on Star Trek to begin with.
I guess UH Hilo fans like Star Trek.
I’m sure Baughman laid it all out on the line considering it was her last year. No student athlete wants go end their college career on the bench, especially from an injury.
For sure if Gonzalez and Baughman were healthy from the beginning we may still be following the Wahine at this point into the NCAA tourney. Ricketts could have been added to the hitting line up, etc…
2010 should be fun. Can’t wait to see what Majam can do at the plate along with the newbies mixing up the infield. It’s gonna be hard to replace Warwick at 3rd though.
BTW… I know the APR performance thing came out a few weeks ago, but with Smethurst gone, what is that going to do to softball’s schollies and whatnot? It’s one player so hopefully it won’t even reflect back on the program.
The only Star Trek I followed was the “Next Generation” series, but that was when I was like 8. It was probably because I recognized the guy from “Reading Rainbow” on it.
bertussi could be the ss or 3b next year. known for the long ball, too.
D1-
You REALLY do like UCA don’t ya?
Thanks for the posts tho, an informed citizenry is the arsenal of college sport fandom. 🙂
Speaking of 3rd base…
Any one know if Vinnie made an early decision to leave or stay?
depends on which round he gets drafted i would think.
Al,
I think UH baseball is going to need to have as many players as possible out of their program finish their schooling.
Selfishly I do hope Vinnie comes back, but if not, he should go on to be a good ball player and making decent money doing it provided the injury bug stays away.
is JD meeting with coach Trap this week? a year roll over with benchmarks, SJST with 41 wins and NMST with 44 did not earn NCAA at large berths with their low RPI’s, set a 40+ win year and a tough non conference schedule to boost UH RPI as a criteria to continue at UH. otherwise, UH will rarely see an NCAA at large bid, we got to win the WAC tournament to go to the regional.
11 teams in the collegiate baseball top thirty did not win 40 games but they played in conferences that sent 6 to 8 team to an NCAA regional. Conference play was tough and the wins and losses reflect the high rpi in these conferences.
didn’t baseball lose another scholarship or part of one for the poor academic performance-APR. Two consecutive years UH lost scholarships in baseball…Reflects on Trap and something else for JD to ponder when he meets with Trap…It’s not like our juniors are taking off for the MLB draft. Can’t recall if any player got drafted last year…anyone?
Let’s go Denver….AC needs to see some action!
On TV this past week, Vinnie said that he’ll be back for his senior year.
ST how many scholarships are allowed for softball?
Bertussi, Iwata and Parnaby…any scholarship available to add someone from the summer leagues that got over looked…
Hey stephen quick volleyball question, You said they might get a middle blocker from europe, I’ve heard it’s either a french player or a fellow German team mate of Jonas Umlauft? Any of that true?
Bulla’s bombers your jargermeister habits help fund a $100 million dollar scholarship fund for the needy at Brown University..

Wow. I gotta give Fresno its due respect, again. In the regionals two years in a row, the hard way!
Go WAC!
Fresno got to play the number one ranked team, though not the number one seeded team, UC Irvine in the first round…FSU must be lowest seed in the West bracket to be put in this situation.
Isn’t it amazing that Fresno St, going into the last week of WAC regular season play, was almost the last team out??!!?? If they didn’t take care of Sac St, they would have had to stay home.
yup Fresno’s coaches and players made the adjustment needed to turn things around…they came thru the WAC losers bracket to win it all…they came thru, UH folded….

d1:
your posts on UCA – did I read that UCA was ranked #11 in DI football?
based on your posts, UH is NOT going to play any pushover come 9/4/09!!
NYUH:
your #76 post – who is Jim Dator? – avid UH fan!
went to see Angels & Demons today at Windward Mall – great movie – of course, Mrs A-House and Midori7 had 10 upsies on me cause they read the book and knew, basically, how the movie would end.
and much to our surprise, we see jm2375 by the snack bar as she and hubby were on their way to see Star Trek – also, a good movie.
ST:
know of any more “transfers” to Warrior ball by former local players? most happy to see Barit making the move!! LB’s will be overflowing with bodies.
beside this and naming of the new women’s BB coach, nothing else to “thrill” this group.
understand Corey’s bro is back and will be practicing with the team for off-summer work out – mentioned to his uncle that if he can make a solid contribution at “special teams” that would be a big plus for UH.
is Wade Keliikipi still intent on going to the Pacific Northwest?
This Cleveland newspaper columnist wrote about David Veikune.
U-Dub is talking about revenue sharing for Pac-10 football TV revenue. It sounds like the TV money for the Pac-10 is not split equally, but instead the teams that TV wants to show get extra money. That type of deal gives an incentive to do well and would benefit UH, instead of how the WAC splits the TV money equally so Idaho and Utah State get the same money and UH.
One thing to note is that the Pac-10 gets over $43 mil in TV money…doesn’t the WAC get something like $1 mil?
A lot of people think that Army made a great choice when they picked Rich Ellerson.
By charging for nonsubscribers to read the web versions of their newspapers, some newspapers have increased their subscriber totals while increasing revenue.
kazz….i think that tom mendonca will crack the mlb lineup in 2-3 years if not sooner.
vinnie’s got a shot. i lot of things need to fall in place for him. he needs to work on his feet, quickness, speed afoot, etc. oh and his range to his left. also, become a better baserunner.
Best wishes to Rick Taylor. I hope that he gets his degree this year and that he can go somewhere for a master’s degree where he can play with his final season of eligibility.
vinnie is no 3B, he’ll prolly play 1B in the minors….look to see if he’ll go 10 or under….that’s the ticket.

vbfan:
The middle blocker is Serbian, I believe.
Not sure if he’s coming anymore since Reyes was his recruiter, and I’m not sure what Reyes will do next year.
A-House:
There are a few more coming in.
I think I mentioned linebacker Tim Brown a couple of months ago.
Plus, Corey Paredes’ brother is transferring from Southern Oregon.
And, well, we’re all awaiting to see if the D-1 guy actually pulls the trigger.
At last count, I heard the 105-player roster was at 120.
A few more decisions will be made.
And, yes, Trapasso and Donovan are set to meet this week, but a date hasn’t been set.
I think the women’s basketball committee has to wrap up business.
ALOHA TSAIKOS!
For everyone that has this day off..lets not forget the Men and Women that gave the Ultimate sacrifice for us all..All the Men and Women out there serving there country..far and near..GOD SPEED MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS..
Hey ST, re your Zorm comments yesterday, I agree he needs to chill. He may coach himself right out of his job.
I think we’d all like to see Colt get a few more serious looks in the preseason when he had the “it” factor in the Hall of Fame game and made everyone around him better.
Speaking of that, Kobe Bryant doesn’t seem to be making anyone on his team better. He is a great player, but my image of him has lessened during these playoffs.
who’s the d1 guy?
is he out west?
Frank25- God Bless and Safe Home!
Dinner time. Empty nest. Kalbi, homemade cucumber gimchi and the Deadliest Catch is on tv.
Frank25,
Thank you for your service to our country. I hope that you have a safe return soon.
To the Advertiser tech people: this week’s Warrior Beat show had some major technical problems when I watched it tonight. The video stopped on me twice, there were several parts where the audio/video was choppy, and the video actually had to start over when it started and I missed the thanks to the sponsors (if there wasn’t a segment like that, I missed something else) and the beginning of the video.
The expected lawsuits against the Cowboys for the people injured when the practice bubble collapsed just got a lot of new ammo…someone sure didn’t do their background checking!

Good evening Tsai-kos!!
Hope you all had a great long weekend.
Great to see the A-house family at the theater. A-house, I’m still trying to figga out if da keeed really is ours or if she was switched at birth. She doesn’t like sci-fi or chocolate and both of us are sci-fi’ers and chocoholics. She went to see Night at the Museum.
Do I have to go to work tomorrow?
I don’t know. Do you? I know I do.
:snicker:
👿 😈
After being on vacation for nearly two weeks, it’s hard having to go back into the regular routine. Don’t feel like it, but have to.
Peaches and I went to see Star Trek this afternoon. As a long time trekkie, I have been waiting for this show since Scott Bakula’s Enterprise. I was not disappointed. It wove the characters in nicely– in this version of the time line…
I guess I’m not much of a Star Trek fan. 😯 :horror:
I went and saw Angels and Demons today, and I agree with A-House that it was a good movie. Only thing was I was squirming in my seat most of the time ’cause I had to use the bathroom but didn’t want to miss out on any parts.
SteveM,
Wow, you seem to have taken the description of the movie right off of something I read (or was it wrote?)….
Saw a coupla addahknows while we were having dinner afterwards…
DPK,
Not so much interested in UCA as not as interested in other stuff going on during the summer.
I’ve probably checked out as much as I want to about UCA.
I’ll move on to Wazzu next….never been to Pullman.
After that, I wonder if I’ll be able to get much info on the next opponent’s hometown? 😆
I miss Captain Phil
A-house,
They are Div I (FCS)
LizK,
Sometimes I miss Capt. Honolulu.
(I can still make his salute though)
d1….my hands won’t flex back far enough.
waaahhh!
star trek………..?
i may have watched two episodes in my entire life.
Liz spent 24 hours on your Island and played tourist and just relaxed at the Marriott. Went with my daughter and her family. We had a blast and enjoyed the hotel and the pool and the food. The Hamura saimin large special was great treat for the whole family.
btw, i thought the little birdie said that there were two d-1 guys?
hamura’s eh?
wow, been awhile.
momo, what no bbq sticks?
no mile high lilikoi chiffon pie?
Star Trek,
That’s the one with Luke Skywalker, right? Or is that the other one?
D1-
I think your posts on UCA were a lot of help If anything, we now know not to take them lightly.
D1, al
Wait! Might you be thinking of Sgt Sacto’s “googles”? I can’t remember if I ever saw Cpt Honolulu, but I can remember Sacto. Hmmm, even that young, I guess I had an affinity for NCO’s LOL
Frank…and all the rest of our defenders…
We promise to remember who you are and what you do for us. We look forward to your return and the opportunity to do for you and your loved ones what you now do for us.
sgm
sgt sacto???
i think it was capt hnl.
let’s ask stevem, he would know.
nah, he probably forgot already.
ralph would know….oh wait no tv in lanai city until the seventies.
bg….just for you.

i was never into captain Honolulu, checkers and pogo stuff…watched westerns with sheriff Ken… 🙂
Weekend went by way too fast…just enough time to check out what the ohana has been up to. Now it’s time to drag this weary body to bed. Been a long time since I thought of going back to work as a welcome respite. LOL
Koakane! How many more wake-ups until you clean out your desk? Dang short-timer!
Hey Ralph! Can you believe that I was once on the Sheriff Ken show. Lived a couple of blocks away from him in Kaimuki.
Take care my man…
al
Thanks for the link!!! Now I know what I can dream about tonight…a trip down memory lane… Kinda funny that Sgt Sacto (how in the world did I remember the spelling?) got a direct commission to Cpt….hehehe
Now it’s really time to do that inner eyelid inspection! LOL
I can’t wait to see Angels and Demons, and Star Trek…mahalo for your reviews.
Captain Honolulu…I miss that show LOL!
Hi Momo!
Sorry I missed you.
Had a lazy laundry day today. Glad you guys had fun!
OK Nitey Nite and Sweet Warrior Dreams!
You’re right…I was there with my finger googles watching the black and white TV, but didn’t remember Sgt. Sacto’s name until BG mentioned it…I remembered Sgt. Sacto more than Captain Honolulu.
Star Trek — I didn’t read any reviews but know die-hard trekkies who have read all the production books (like me) will find many inconsistencies/omissions in the pasts of the original characters. Still, I thought it was a nicely done and a movie that fulfilled my hopes for such a “prequel”.
Work day tomorrow…good night everyone!
so intead of being at his first class at mckinley hs
stevem was too busy signing out with sgt sacto instead
now we know the rest of the story
Looking ahead the baseball program will have to improve to keep pace with a WAC conference that saw promising underclassmen on several teams, in particular FSU and LaT.
Hitting is a major concern as we need to replace Vinnie Catricala’s bat and gain improvement from the rest of our returnees. Whether Coach Mike makes a tutorial adjustment remains to be seen. The team slumped in late season–that is a red flag and he needs to address the issue.
We will need Greg Garcia to step up next year as he is the likely lead-off batter.
Montplaisir struggled with the curveball and needs to be retooled. Kevin McD KO’d too much and Roquemore needs to hit linedrives. Chevalier is an interesting batter but played sparingly–he needs to work hard in the off season–his bat has possibilities. Christian Johnson is a hard hitter but looked terrible against lefties and he too, KOd alot.
Van Doornum has potential as does Fujii.
The key will be the amount of quality work these players spend in the cage under a mentor that knows his stuff.
Kolt needs to be more selective in his second year as pitchers werent throwing anything good to him once they figured he was a first pitch swinger.
On the mound we lose Jayson Kramer and Greg Alexander. Again we need to see development in our youth hurlers– Linsky, Little, Sisto and Moore.
We are in dire need for southpaws as Spangler and Davis are the only two I see, unless we have another on short order we recruited.
None of our hurlers are flame throwers so they will need to develop off-speed stuff and charlie-balls with consistency and location.
Hopefully Coach Mike sees the light and is heading more for big bats than smallball–it wont work in the WAC.
ST tweets that spencer smith will be his guest today-but he forgot to say what time it starts….or is it always at 12 noon?
but when are we gonna have a “chat with charlie”?
…
i want to know if tino is going help recruit that serbian middle ?
dave shoji would make for a great chat guest as well. the thoughts and opinions from our senior coach on the current wave of coaching changes on the lower campus.
i guess a lot of these were inevitable and some weren’t.
did charlie announce his staff yet?

That’s really too bad about Rick…I would love to see him play!!! Had the pleasure of meeting his father when we played Alabama. Thanks for being a Warrior!
