JC cornerback, d-lineman commit
Cornerback Lametrius Davis of Butte College and defensive lineman Zack Masch of Arizona Western College made verbal commitments to UH yesterday.
Davis is 6 fee1 and 193 pounds. He ran 40 yards in 4.38 seconds at the NorCal JC Combine the past summer. He has a 36-inch vertical jump.
Masch is 6 feet 3 and 290 pounds. He can bench press a maximum 405 pounds. He was a high school teammate of UH quarterback Steele Jantz.
Masch made the decision based partly on the support of UH fans. “Going to the (UH-Cincinnati) game was what clicked in,” he said.
Davis and Masch will both earn their associate degrees next week. Masch, for sure, will enroll at UH in January. Davis wishes to do the same, although he is waiting to see if all of his JC credits will transfer. If not, he will move to Hawaiโi in May.
* * *
Adam Leonard, Solomon Elimimian and Ryan Mouton will train on the Mainland in preparation for the NFL draft in April. All are on track to earn their degrees.

El Guapo reports that Bob Wagner is a finalist for the UH-Hilo AD job.
first?
First???? OMG…..
damn…..second, by a second…..
okay, first after I actually read the post. the atmosphere at the game was awesome, even though I expected more fans there. best recruiting tool is a full house and raucous fans.
sorry, dan-o. woo hoo, my sixth first!
mornin’
glad to see i’m not headlining today’s blog.
Wow Top Ten!
top 10.

good morning tsai-ko kane’s and wahine’s
I was thinking that the third quarter was definitely a “closer” for recruits! You could just feel the electricity again during the third…too bad it didn’t continue until the end of the game. It was a fun season anyways.
I thought the greatest need of our WARRIORS was the OLine, especially the tackle position. Any news about potential recruits in that area, Stephen?
still feeling the hurt from the Cinci game. warriors should have won it, much effort, energy and heart put out in the game. team and fans represented 808, a win would have been sweet.
ND coming to town will be some consolation and its a good snag by the sheraton bowl peeps.
nuff said and trying to be positive till bowl game.
esmeeeeeeeeee, no kope sheeeeeeeeeeeeeesh
McMackin wanted Notre Dame – he got it. Now he has to win it or Hawaii will be the butt of many a joke.
rob25
did ronnie’s boy get his tattoo?
Any OL recruits coming in?
That’s obviously the Warriors’ most glaring need. We lose all our starting corners too, so Davis is a good pick up. Good thing stacking up our D-Line as well.
Hoping for 1 or 2 JUCO Offensive Linemen next.
Aloha Kakahiaka!!!
Good luck to Adam, Solly & Ryan in their post-grad training.
Great news re: the 2 new JC recruits.
Esme & out…
#16?
Anyway, I wonder who else was recruiting Masch. Is it pronounced like M*A*S*C*H? *L* Both sound like good pickups, but I’m really concerned that we hardly have any O-Line recruits, that was the weak spot of the team this year.
We lost out on Danny Watkins, any chances to land a JC Olineman that will be here for spring ball?
They didn’t sign yet… ๐
But hopefully soon!
Ta-Daaaaa
koakane – Yup, he got 808 with the “0” being the outline of the island of Oahu. He’s sooo stoked about it.
Wow, jojo is here gracing us with her presence…I’m honored to share the time with her.
Gotta Esme though…see everyone later! ๐
hmmmโฆ. opening line shows Hawaii as 1-1/2 pt favorites against ND. Teams are considered equal and the difference is the home field advantage
(Comments to last blog stuff)
homey ~ Ask me about homemade spaghetti sauce the next time I see you.
I nominate J(J) to be Touchdown Jesus. Got the hair, and he went to Damien, so he knows the drill…
K, whoosh….
Koakane… I feel your pain. I had to take a couple of days away from the blog or forums just to recuperate.. what a dissapointing loss. Not disappointed in the team, just the loss. 48-hour rule!
Notre Dame… whootah! What a season of opponents, eh? This has got to rank way up there in the season of opponents that are ranked and/or well-respected.
And the recruits! Things are looking really good!
Lametrius Davis and Zach Masch — WELCOME!
Welcome to the new recruits! Both sound like good ones.
“Touchdown Jesus”? James? Things that make you go hmmmm…
Looks like the recruiting class is nearly filled out, and with a few known guys left on the radar screen, it does not appear there will be any big recruiting surprises after all, not on the upside anyway.
The 48 hour rule applies to the fans too. Still hurt from da loss but I’m still and will always be a Warrior fan! I hope they learn from the mistakes and take it out on ND!
Go Warriors!
We Believe!
Good morning/afternoon, Tsaiko-Nation and Tsai-Meister.
The recruiting train just keeps rolling along. I think that getting quite a few more JC recruits is not a bad way to go. We have some serious and immidiate needs, but after that, I’m sure we’ll concentrate mainly on Highschoolers to have the continuity year after year. Sofar I’m quite impressed with Big Mscks recruiting prowess.
What’s our situation with the O-Line? What do have in the cupboard and what’s on the horizon?
Come to think of it, I hope that Zach’s last name is pronounced like “mash”, as in “mashed running back”. ๐
If it’s pronounced like “mosh” as in “mosh pit”, that’s not so bad either…
I was able to get tix. Not much left though. I’m in EE orange.
Come on, guys. It’s GOTTA be “Monster Mash!”
Can’t imagine that the tickets are that hard to come by yet, but if so, you can also try sneak in a get through ND. You will end up sitting with the ND fans but at least you will be at the game.

Off to Kali for work. Be back to glorious Hawaii Nei this weekend.
Tom, Myki & SJ, can’t get to your dvds until this weekend. Sorry, but I got you covered. No worries.

slowly moving stuff back in. If I was wearing UA, no work would get done, everyone would be on the ground laughing.
Good morning Tsai-kos!
Welcome to the Warrior ohana Lametrius Davis and Zach Masch!!!
Will these Olinemen recruits be able to make it for spring ball?
ST, good neighbor:
Is there a genuine reluctance by O-line recruits to commit to UH?
If so, any idea what it/they may be? I know the line coach is young and not really battle tested, but he has played in the system and had an excellent mentor in Coach Cav who recommended him to Coach Mack.
LAMETRIUS DAVIS AND ZACH MASCH:
WELCOME TO THE WARRIOR OHANA AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR SUCCESSFUL CAREERS AT UH – MAKE US PROUD!!!

chawan_cut: I didn’t get to respond to yesterday’s blog… You’re HILARIOUS! And if memory serves me right, I was definitely working that day when Dan Kelly was chatting. Good thing no one ever snapped a picture of me.
Can’t wait to see the fun all the o-lineman will have in vying for a starting spot next season! In fact almost all positions will be challenged! Ahhhh, nothing like competition to bring the cream to the top.
I am sure W-Mojo will be at practices again keeping a close on all the OLinemen. He can give the detailed reports
seems like everyone acknowledges that our o-line is the weak link…*sigh* It doesn’t matter who the RB or QB’s and WR’s are, if the o-line lets everyone in.
Get practice today?

Stretch – Yep, I’ll be waiting for the WM and Pride. o-line reports. Another report I look out for is the sj/myki receiver notes and highlights. Oh, and can’t forget the Loa d-line feedback.
When will UH recruit an Offensive Coordinator, one who is not afraid to mix it up and go deep periodically? This is where the focus should be for next year, playing to conservative cost UH a few games this year, not to mention the last game against Cincinatti
Hey gang…taking a break from some grueling work.
Me, TD Jesus??? I guess I can do that…..although DPK thinks I’m not that qualified for that position and koakane also went to Damien….LOL
Welcome to the Warrior Ohana Mr. Masch and Mr. Davis
Crowd was great at the Cinci game. It was almost as loud, if not louder, than the Boise game last year and that had 50,000 fans in attendance. Also great to see some Cinci players saying that this was a “hostile place to play with the crowd noise”….we just need to do that for every game, starting with the Hawaii Bowl.
Just a reminderโฆ. its that Holiday time againโฆ..
2nd Annual Tsaiko Christmas Party
6:30 p.m., December 18th, 2008
Murphyโs Bar and Grill
2 Merchant St
Honolulu, HI 96813
(808) 531-0422
Parking is available in the Harbor Court building or in the pay lot next to Murphyโs.
Party will be pupu style/order off menu and drinks. More details to follow.
Please RSVP me at jgo8464822@aol.com if you can so that I can figure out how many will be attending. Thanks.
JJ – If the party starts at 630pm, like the game this past weekend, does that mean Koakane is going to get started at 1030am as usual??
great if hawaii gets 1 or 2 oline guys that could compete for starting or rotation time but either way i think the bigger answer to the oline problems lies in the off season commitment by the olinemen and the coaching ability.
oline reality: oline ends the year with 2 olinemen starting at the same position that they started in last season which explains alot of the problems but will enter into the off season with a handfull juniors to be seniors and others that have either started and or was in the rotation this season which is a plus regardless of who or if they get commits.
Did safety Aaron Brown Verbal to the warriors?? we need some safties who can play right away
One problem I see with Vili and his drummers on one end of the field and the UH band on the other is that there is no sync when the Warriors score. Vili is doing his push-ups and the fans are all tuned into him and getting energized. While on the North side the UH band is playing the Warrior fight song and the fans in that area are spelling W-A-R-R-IORS and getting pumped up! Two different things but at least it rocks the stadium.
Maybe someone could coordinate (via north endzone jumbo text screen) and do the fight song first. I think it would be tremendous to hear the whole stadium join in with the fight song and spell out WARRIORS. Then Vili can do his thing in the South endzone.
The “wave” actually went around the stadium…many times!
(j)james……you fit the bill for td jesus excepting for the fact that the real Jesus never wore a brown bottle in his right hand. mwahahaha.
wmojo…..i was going to coin that “monster masch” last night but was too lazy. he looks to be focused on the future at hand.
iwonderwhythey……………….you said it. tickets are going quick. “you better hurry cuz its going fassssssst.”
al – and the real td jesus would drink all his beers and not leave any in someone else’s cooler!
“Three quarter of our sacks came in the early part of the season”. This was a direct quote from Coach Mac in answering a question from KGMB’s Liz Chun on The Coaches Show as she pointed out that 5 more sacks in the Cincinnati game added up to 49 sacks the OL has allowed this season.
In the last 7 games the OL has given up 32 sacks.
BSU-7
Nevada-6
Utah St-1
New Mexico State-4
Idaho-2
Wash. St-7
Cincinnati-5
So the Coach Mac answer, which infers that most of the sacks allowed was in the early part of the season as the OL was getting in sync with the new offense doesn’t make sense when the stats show most of the sacks have come in the latter part of the season.
When LC asked the coach about the issues of clock management he seemed to be impervious as if there was a problem, although he goes on to say that some of these problems we’ll be taking a look in the off season. This season I’ve heard time and again the play-by-play announcers more than once say, “this doesn’t make sense…why let 25 seconds run off the game clock and then call time out”. In the Cincinnati game the radio guy, BC, “if they’re going to call time out why didn’t they do it early in the play..why let 25 seconds run off the game clock”.
The impression I got from watching this show is that the coach doesn’t take well to criticisms. And will go to great lengths as not to expose his coaches or players inadequacies. But with one game left in the season I hope amongst the players and coaching staff, especially, that they don’t wait to after the season to fix problems. In the next couple of weeks I hope the staff and players take on a MacGyverism personality, and like the star character in the TV show, exhibit an urgency to improvise when their backs are to the wall. I hope the staff covers all contingencies, like if this doesn’t work what should we do next kind of scenarios. Some of the willingness to fight the hard fight and for the players to give it their best shot in the ND game has to be backed up by coaches that are motivating, improvising, quick thinking and organizing with a polished game plan and improved team discipline.
Also look at the opponents of the last 7 games. Not the greatest defenses but we still gave up over 30 sacks
roysan16 – interesting, thanks for the read.
atmosphere, atmosphere, everything taking place at the stadium from parking lot to stadium and in the seats i think could be better used to help get the fans into it.
would be good if somone with experience in creating & mainting a bigtime college football atmosphere and also was in touch with the flow of the hawaii fans could oversee this area for next season.
last season had its turing the conrner moments but change in coaches set us back a little this season although lately things seem to heading in the right direction as the season ends.
Just found out my cousin is in charge of ticket sales for the ND alumni club here.
Stretch…ummm. I guess KK will be starting the party at 10:30…and will be in full swing by the time you get there at noon….LMAO
al,
good thing i got my tickets before the notre dame announcement. Notre Dame must be gobbling up those tickets for it to be going so fast. Im impressed! It’ll be a packed house for sure.
tsai are we still in the running for lee aguirre? i hope so. i wouldnt mind seeing davis move to safety, he has the size and speed.
roysan……….and yet.
71.4% of the sacks did occur in the first ten games.
wouldn’t you love a boss/mgr who did not publicly chastise you no matter what your job performance was?
and if one doesn’t think that the coaches and players are upset about what just happened………
i understand now why they did what they did when they did not call a timeout when they didn’t. they didn’t want to burn all the timeouts with that much time when it appeared that the opponent had a reasonably good chance to get a first down and then not even have an opportunity to have the ball in their hands. that and the fact that at first they were in range of that rangy field goal kicker that they had.
homey…one more thing about Vili (as well as the rest of the fans)….we have to pay attention to when we are on offense and when we are on defense…things like the stuff that Vili does where he gets people in the Mauka section to scream…than the end zone people….than the Makai section people…and tries to get each section to outdo each other….or things like the wave should be done when we are on defense….so that we disrupt our opponents offense. Some times these things are being done when we are on offense which can cause disruption to our own team…. We need to be quiet when we are on offense. Imagine a dead silent stadium when our team goes up to the line…and than the roar that would occur when a big play is made…and than silence again….that would be awesome…..
homey…one more thing…I love the idea of the cheerleaders and rainbow dancers maybe spreading out around the stadium and leading the fans in the spelling of W-A-R-R-I-O-R-S when we score…hearing that from just the student section is cool…but if 30,000 plus did it…it would be awesome….sort of like the old RAIN – BOWS cheer…that was sweet when 50,000 people did it during those BYU routs……
lets see mei ling………perhaps you can procure one ticket smack dab in between the irish just for koakane.
Late Good Morning Everyone:
From yesterday’s blog:
“Tsaiko Lurker Kamaliโo NYC, the generous donor of two season tickets to Coach Alan Inabaโs after school program at Dole Middle School, will be visiting her family here in Hawa`i. She arrives on Friday, December 19, and leaves for the Big Island on Tuesday, December 23.
Unfortunately, that means sheโll miss both the Tsaiko Holiday Party at Murphyโs on the 18th as well as the T-Gate for the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl on the 24th.
Sheโs a graduate of McKinley High School who moved to New York over 30 years ago to pursue a career in art. She still hasnโt forgotten her roots – her generosity has spurred a lot of support for Alanโs prgram including from Tsaikos.
Hereโs what she said in her most recent e-mail:
I would love to get together for dinner or lunch. I arrive Friday evening on December 19 and leave for the Big Island on the 23rd. Unfortunately, I will miss the game and the T-gate. It would have been fun to finally put some faces to the names I always see on the Warrior Beat. But I have seen some of the Tsaiko karaoke performances on YouTubeโI was particularly taken with Stephenโs rendition of โThe LIon Sleeps Tonight.โ How could anyone sleep?
I am putting together a luncheon Cattle Call for Sunday, December 21. Alan and Barry, his assistant coach, will be attending along with their wives.
Any suggestions for a location? Perhaps the new El Mariachi In Aiea mentioned a few weeks ago by Kekoa might be a possibility. Bear in mind that I will need to make a reservation ASAP given the time of year so weโll need a headcout.
Please post your suggestions here and then once a location is selected, Iโll let folks know how to sign up. ”
Back to work.
no sense, he going be sleeping….
letsgo……….did aguirre even visit last week? has it been confirmed that he was offered? for some reason i thought his recruitment was just a ghost.
and i was thinking that davis had size to play safety.
if anything, looks like we have four jc cb’s to compete next year with black and bryant redshirting this year.
but, we need another safety or two for sure.
i think the defensive secondary is something we need to patch more so than any other parts whether it is defensively or on offense.
(J)J – I hear you, but in Vili’s support he does get the crowd excited while the Warriors have the ball on offense but as soon as the Warriors break the huddle he quiets the crowd around him down and the drumming stops. Of course there are still those who continue to cheer…like the happy fans in the F & G orange sections.
Too bad I will not be able to start at 10:30 with koakane…
good morning to all Tsaikos both here and not so close,
GO WARRIORS
REDEMPTION TIME
All I want for Christmas is a BIG BIG WIN, A BIG BIG WIN
stretch….. i was thinking that he could either lull them to sleep as well or irritate them with his snoring.
yo bulla,
how’s the beast taking the coaching vacancy at weber state?
december 21st is a bad day for me for a cattle call, but, a good day to do volunteer stuff.
al – from what I have seen, athletically (speed and quickness), the secondary should be in fine shape. Learning to communicate and play together is something that will need to be worked on very intensely during the spring and fall camps. they can fine tune their techniques during the off-season.
al – cattle call on the 22nd?
I’m still waiting for A-Sports and jojo’s cattle calls.
I wonder which Warriors will get invited to the NFL combine?
I’m still waiting for homey to invite me for Thai food again
๐
according to my friend, aguirre visited this weekend. not sure tsai can confirm for us though. we could be wrong. black is not redshirting this season, so he’ll be a senior next year along with JoePierre Davis. im keeping my fingers crossed that jeramy bryant can get his medical redshirt. i heard great things about him during the summer. he has great speed and quickness. hopefully he fully recovers from his injury as well.
Rudy II, what are the chances we see Nathan Mckay get in the game against ND. That would be the ultimate of story book endings. Snowflake in the game to face ND, the storied program of which Rudy was born. I vision the 4th qt with the Warriors way out in front, the crowd starts cheering , Snowfake, Snowflake, Snowflke, coach Mac points to Rudy, i mean Snowflake, motions him to get into the game, the crowd goes wild, Snowflake crosses the sideline, ten feet into the playing field he trips on the confetti blowing about the field, he has a high ankle sprain and is helped off the field. Well, we all know it won’t happen, but in Warrior football, we’ve seen crazier things happen.
jojo…..we had thai food five times and you not once did you make an appearance. do we need to have some souped up foreign cars for you to join us?
fuud?
My tummy strike ended yesterday, so I’m in…. ๐
letsgo…..if these recruits at cb are the real deal i’d like to see joe pierre-davis at safety.
i am guessing that hawaii was not for aaron brown?
its been told that coach mack has a position board for recruiting with laundry lists of all the prospects of note. it also identifies the needs by priority.
gotta hand it to coach and tony the tiger for bringing recruitment to a new level this year.
ok, so who is this phantom 2nd running back that coach keeps referring to????
homey,
yes i am hilarious.
all of you laugh at me at my own expense!
I sure hope that the Warrior fans are not looking at the ND game as an automatic win.
The Irish are loaded with talent, despite their seeming ineptitude. Don’t be fooled by that, they will be fighting very hard and for four quarters, they just haven’t put it all together yet, just like us.
We are just as much a team that isn’t quite ‘there’ yet. It all will come down to which team will be able to put together four solid quarters. The Warriors have to play real well to pull this off.
Right now we’re ranked # 85 and the Irish are # 58, whatever that may mean. The Warriors have to be all business and play smart and hard the whole game. We’ve seen how quickly things can fall apart, if we let up.
jojo – we will work around your schedule. Um, so what aftermarket product(s) were you modeling for at the import thingy?
al – I hope that mystery RB is quick and fast!
chawan – maybe you have the Ed Zachery disease. Ask Koakane about it.
FT – the way this season has gone, I don’t think any fan will think this is an automatic win. Well maybe the ND fan will think that…
fuud??? burp!
good afternoon Tsaiko’s.
looking to next season, Greg Alexander is getting more comfortable at QB, should help the O-line a little with faster decision making.
regarding recruits, so do we already have enough D-linemen to form a decent rotation? isn’t d-linemen harder to find than o-line?
chawan – Not all of us laugh at you. So far only Kelli does. ๐
chawan_cut,
Don’t worry about the laughter, the happiest people in the world are the ones who can laugh at themselves.
al – did I miss the pho call too? Please order my rare steak on the side.
So, when does ND arrive any how? And isn’t Sheraton Waikiki renovating?
I miss seeing the confetti being thrown after touchdowns or big plays. I know most of you guys will disagree with me but it’s almost a tradition here
g-nalo – the way I see it if there is not enough time to throw the ball there is not enough time for the receiver routes to ripen.
Let me see…5 o-linemen vs. 3 or 4 d-linemen…I guess if you do the math there are less d-linemen…
homey it was a car
jojo – I heard due to finals, ND arrives on the 20th.
I guess Chawan is the happiest person in the world…. maybe he should go work Disneyland??
homey,
Are you going to the Vegas game next year? You sound like a real fun kind of Tsaiko to meet. If everything falls into place, I’ll be there this time.
jojo – You modeled for a Benz?
stretch, i’m with you.
Yes, Stretch,
but is he really laughing at himself? That’s the key.
By the way, getting paid for acting happy doesn’t count, lol.
FT – I will not be going to the Vegas game next year. Anyway, all Tsaikos are fun to meet.
g-nalo – the way I see it if there is not enough time to throw the ball there is not enough time for the receiver routes to ripen.
no doubt the o-line needs to do their jobs, but there were plays where the QB (Funaki too) took extra time to let it fly. was thinking these plays would be reduced “a little” if the QB was more decisive. he can only be more decisive by being comfortable running the offense.
Let me seeโฆ5 o-linemen vs. 3 or 4 d-linemenโฆI guess if you do the math there are less d-linemenโฆ
had to think “Homey” for a second, but got it.
“By the way, getting paid for acting happy doesnโt count, lol.”
tempted but i’ll leave this alone……….
Stretch and FT – are you saying that if chawan was buck naked standing in front a mirror he would laugh? I just threw in the buck naked part for dramatic effect.
ND students last day of finals is friday the 19th. The team leaves that evening.
The way I see it, the big difference to next season vs this one should be that everything will be much more in place and organized to start spring training. This year there were a lot of wasted efforts, trying to figure out which way to go, considering all the turmoil and turnover.
Next year, the blue print will be in place and everybody can just concentrate on perfecting their performances and team chemistry, as well as finding lots of depth.
If I’m right, come kick-off 09, we will be a vastly improved team and, with a much more favorable schedule, the sky is the limit.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
yes jojo you missed it. we asked you.
it was a block away from your office.
and yes i did order steak on the side.
g-nalo – sometimes indecisiveness is due to waiting for the route to ripen. ๐
FT – yep, no doubt they’ll get off to a better start with coaches and scheme’s already in place. also agree its not so much what they’re doing but doing it better.
the WAC games are always key and it helps to get Fresno and Boise at home.
probably no laughing, just crying….
FT – the big difference to me for next season vs this season is that the coaches will have a years worth of Warrior football experience to call upon. Ok, when do they start selling season tickets?
Kekoa – can get me better seats or what???
those damn actresses are gooooood…..
Stretch,
“I miss seeing the confetti being thrown after touchdowns or big plays. I know most of you guys will disagree with me but itโs almost a tradition here.”
Noooo, don’t do it! When I watched UH games on TV and saw all of the litter on the field, I wondered why UH fans were so messy. The UH games are the only games where there is a lot of trash on the field. I would think it’d be a hazard for the players, too.
Suggestion: roll up dollar bills and throw them. If the money gets to the field, UH Athletics gets to keep it for the program. If a fan catches it, you’ve just helped your fellow man/woman.
g-nalo – sometimes indecisiveness is due to waiting for the route to ripen.
ok.
there’s a certain amount of time you expect your linemen to hold their blocks. if they are meeting that time then its either the QB or receiver?
guess from the previous three seasons i’m used to seeing at least one of the receivers open every play?
Stretch – Nah, I don’t think there would be crying ’cause standing next to him is a cardboard cutout of his favorite Star Wars character.
homey – what part of the cardboard is cut out??
al i would i agree with you on JP Davis, hes big and he looks good coming downhill. however, with Torres beating him out at NB, i feel that coaches would not put JP Davis at Safety. NB is a closer position to a safety, where u get more freedom to roam like a safety. Had JP Davis been in at NB this season, i could see him moving to safety next season. however, hes benn strictly a CB.
i was crying looking at my picture from yesterday…

Nice to read the respect coming from Notre Dame’s captains.
Another article about Notre Dame.
Athletic Director for UH-Hilo? I think high schools play more sports than UH-Hilo.
NMSU lost their chief recruiting link to Hawaii…but he’s going to Wyoming now, so I wonder if he’ll get local players to go there?
Bob Wagner at UH-Hilo…..sounds fun!!!

This “comedy” writer sure needs better material.
I’m done with the article posting now…Al, was that easier to read? Homey is much more talented with the bolding of the quotes…I didn’t try to figure out how to do it because I have to get back to work…
080ike – Who did you come to the t-gate with?
Ronnie said that it looks terrible on TV…especially in HD! Boise’s turf is the same way and they aren’t forced to do away with it.
Rob25 – …and I just hate all the rubbish fireworks make. Thank goodness for the paperless ones. ๐ ๐
chinese made firecrackers with red paper as it was a symbolic to bringing good fortune throughout the year.
now only get what was formerly red plastic that once burned would leave black stuff that no can scrape off the pavement. hate it.
kekoa check with bg’s buds if your reservation for cabana A is still on the books….don’t want to get tossed out again
sure hope clinton portis’ outburst against zorn does not lead to zorn being a one and done HC. For colt to survive long enough in the league to get a chance, have a feeling he really needs zorn.
I have to agree with your statement about the paperless fireworks.
I do sort of like the confetti, but dislike the big pieces that rain down from above. My favorites are the little parachute guys! I think of it like a traditional thing also. There are many things about other teams that we tolerate because it is tradition.
I’m looking forward to the game with Notre Dame. The last time they were here, some of their fans sat next to me. The fiercely proud fans were respectful of our team. I enjoyed our friendly banter throughout the game.
Both of the teams need a victory badly. Unfortunately, they need NOT to lose more. Both teams have much more to lose by not winning the Hawaii Bowl.
Rob25 – So you like short Ranger paratroopers?
Aloha Tsaiko Family.
We’re back in Cali (not going to say home ๐ )
Aaron is back to normal, and only has to take the steroid pills for one more day. 6 1/2 hours in the ER and catching a flight 10 hours later is an experience I don’t need to repeat. Aaron and I were both really touched by all the well wishes. Tsaikos are such good people!
Coach Mack, if you’re reading this, before Aaron had his anaphylactic reaction at dinner, he was so excited to meet you. He kept pointing to you and saying, “There’s Coach Mack! There’s Coach Mack!!!” It really made his night to be able to shake your hand and have his picture taken with you.
Ian loves his “new look”. The next time we’re home, he’s thinking of coloring in O’ahu with a Hawaiian flag.
Ronnie – send pics!
I think ND has proven that just because you can recruit all of these so-called blue chippers, it doesn’t guarantee that a top ten, or top twentyfive ranking will follow. Give-it-2-them, WARRIORS!!!
Have to agree with Ronnie, the trash the fans throw looks really bad on TV, the problem is that there is a big difference between confetti and what the fans are throwing.
so, is LaCount coming or not? .
Ronnie – relieved to know everything is okay with Aaron.
i think lacount is already enrolled at UH, just redshirting this season.
homey – picture sent…
On LaCount, think he’s still taking care of grades and planning to enroll for the semester starting January 2009.
I enjoy when fans in the upper level throw paper airplanes that float around in the stadium air currents and watch it land on a lady with fluffy hair.
Thanks, Stretch.
We learned a very valuable lesson… Ask before eating anything we don’t make ourselves, and if the person serving doesn’t know if there are nuts in the food, don’t take the chance…
Pomai – I agree that confetti doesn’t look bad, but by the end of some games, it looked like the field was the bottom of a hamster cage…
Ronnie – Ummmm, I meant a picture of Ian, not you! ๐
We don’t have hamsters in Hawaii.
homey – you are too funny!
and you are too funny!!
Ronnie
If only you could get back here for the Hawaii Bowl!
Just leave the boys with Anne and then you can fly back on Christmas Day or even later after the game. ๐ฏ
BTW, someone actually won a trip to Vegas with that football toss game after the 3rd qtr. Lucky buggah!
I always like to see the lists of the Bowl gifts.
BSU players will get these gifts from the Poinsettia Bowl:
8 GB iTouch
Tommy Hilfiger watch
Sport-Tek hooded sweatshirt
Best Buy $50 gift certificate
UH players will get these gifts from the Hawaii Bowl:
Kicker iKick500 iPod/iPhone dock
Kahala Aloha shirt, Oakley Hijinx sunglasses
Oakley backpack
Nevada players will get these gifts from the Humanitarian Bowl:
Sony camcorder
Winter jacket, gloves, hoodie sweatshirt, skullcap, baseball cap
Fresno State players will get these gifts from the New Mexico Bowl:
RCA video camcorder
Oakley Holeshot Three-Hand watch
Oakley beanie; New Era cap
Ogio travel bag, Oakley backpack
One-year ESPN The Magazine subscription
La Tech players will get these gifts from the Independence Bowl:
Timely Watch Co. watch
New Era cap
Trek mountain bike
I think this bowl’s gifts are my favorite:
Champ’s Sports Bowl:
Party at Best Buy
Commemorative watch
$400 of spending at Best Buy (at those parties Best Buy always makes sure to have the hard-to-find items available)
Although, the Poinsettia Bowl is a close second to me.
I wonder how many JC players will sign their NLI on Dec. 17th?
homey – I think that was the only person to do that this season.
I know the guy that won the football toss.
umm well enough that he is taking you.
jus saying
I just pooped my pants.
what were the gifts from the Sugar Bowl? I just remember seeing the players with those black leather jackets.
What for will be the Warrior football practice schdule for the Hawaii Bowl. I wonder if Coach Mack will let Grunke play a few snaps if Hawaii gets a big lead on ND?
Tyler had his chance. If the coaches stuck to the original JJ-style run and shoot, I think we would have been better offensively with Tyler. When they decided to abandon the QB from under-center, the offense started clicking again.
I was pulling for the Tyler at first, but he had his chance to be the man. Didn’t he get into “personal issues” again a few weeks ago? So he would have let the team down yet again??
Good luck to him. I hope he settles his off-field “issues”.
If we are blowing out ND, I’d rather see Jake Santos get in the game again.
New math above?
“6 fee1”
Good to see ND is selling tickets to the Hawai’i Bowl!
Now if only the Hawai’i residents actually showed up for the game.
I still a little habut about Sat. nite’s
lossgive away.you just know I’m gonna be givin da Warriors lots of positives and yelling the wrinkles off my behind ๐ at da holy ah holies. ๐
da oline. two sides ah dat equation. da coaches is one paht. da players are da odda paht. CAN. i know day can. both sides!!!
come on Coach! Fix dat spoke!
I knew the coach was brand new the first time he saw me. seemed kind of defensive to me. and he is the o line coach. the ex’s and ooh’s are great, to a point. then you gotta stress the important points, with a Tazer
come on Coach Brian. You can do it. Coach Mack believes in you. I believe in you. This game is not the end of the world. But I’m hoping now you’ll show us the Warriors believe in you. This year, never mind next year.
Those two outside guyz. make em read these last few post from me.
We’re in this together. I sooooooo want us to beat Notre Dame. ๐
I’ll be right over the tunnel with my bannah, cheering YOU on!
Go Warriors!!!!
Ronnie: The little paper cards with the list of ingredients didn’t list macadamia nuts? Anyways, glad to hear that Aaron is doing better. I heard you took care of things calmly and quickly โ I didn’t even notice what had happened! Aaron is blessed to have such a great mother. ๐
evening tsai-ko’s
๐ฏ wats up with dat?
8) james you assuming he can get his choke chains cut so he can come out
Ok, Wasn’t the AD for UH-Hilo confirmed to move on over 6 months ago ?
And, Bob Wagner still running the show at Kamehameha-Hawaii ?
He could really fit the bill for UH-Hilo
eh, some guys need to work before heading out to the game.
oh so now you work saturday mornings on game day
Yeah, Stretch has to work on his marketing skills, those are sorely lacking. ๐
jason – yes, SEVERLY lacking…
Your spelling and grammar skills are severely lacking, too … ๐
Jason –
I only saw the cards with ingredients for the rice and seafood salads by the green salad. Were they there for all of the dishes? If so, then it was our mistake that Aaron paid dearly for. This just reinforces our idea to ask about everything. Better to look silly when the people point to a card than to take a chance.
so who is this false al posing out here?
i don’t mind really……..emulation of another is at the top of the scale.
thank you.
thank you very much.
Jason –
Aaron said he saw a card that said “Stuffing” but didn’t notice ingredients…
Ronnie: I thought had, but now that I think about it, I’m not sure. I do remember looking at the cards for the rice and seafood dishes just to see if there were things I didn’t like, but for the rest of the stuff, I didn’t need an ingredient list.
Maybe they should have special cards in a different color (like red, or some bright neon color) that lists common allergens like nuts and shellfish. Something simple like that industry-wide would be great for those that have allergies.
CONGRATULATIONS, Noriko & Heinekenhealer!
Noriko’s son was married today! Met HH, the groom’s brother & Noriko’s cousin after the Na Koa lunch. Noriko’s younger son says he’s the #1 Warrior fan in Japan as he had his picture taken with Coach Mack.
Mei Ling: You mean that wedding party at the Willows yesterday?!
Garett who is Rich Bradshaw and was that a real comment by him? I hope it was just in jest! smile.
Ronnie, a couple friends of Hawaii will be at Ono Ono this Thursday at noon – all Tsaikos are invited to talk story.
What I am looking for on the 24th is a CLASSY tough game with a quality opponent – no cheap penalties!! And the best team will win. ND fans are some of the best fans in the mainland, unlike Fresno and Georgia, please treat them well.
JJ always knew the importance of the O-line to his offense. He recruited something like 7 last year and has 6 more this year … most this year are 6’3″ or taller. He can also start a DBackfield of 3-4 star recruits in 2009. Looks like he will have a good year.
The good news of us is that 6 of our 7, 3-star recruits did not play (much) this year. We need all of them to replace our D starters and then we need a few more O-linemen. Hope GM is focusing in these areas. He talks about his confidence with his QB situation. Glad we’re getting these extra practices in December. Goo Warriors.
Ronnie, Ian, and Aaron:
Glad to hear that you all made it back to California after the special situation at the banquet.
Aaron, most happy to hear all went well for you as we were concerned with your reaction to nuts.
Ian, help your Mom and brother in every way you can.
Hope to see you again in Hawaii or at Las Vegas next September (if can).
As Mrs A-House says, “little hug, big hug”, “little kiss, big kiss”.
Good evening Tsai-kos!!
eh, who dis “hwanstln”? any relation to “hawnstln”? ๐
Jason,
That was someone else’s wedding. Noriko’s son was married today.
Just want to share what happen today. I got a call from the Rainbowtic today about the Jersey that I had won on Sept 13. They started to give the so sorry run around, so I told them that I was a seson ticket holder in football, basketball and girls volley ball and a season ticket holder from the Honolulu stadium days….I also said I was part of the TSAIKO’S and that I would get them involved….Boy did they change there tone when I mention the Tsaiko’s… I have get my Jersey byk this week end, maybe !
Momo – nice to know us Tsai-kos carry some weight, figuratively & literally!!! ๐
Congrats on the two new recruits. Hope they come in and make a difference soon!
As for the O-Line situation, I was really hoping we’d get Watkins b/c then we’d have Watkins and Lacount coming in to fill immediate needs. I also wished we got Nua too. He could be a great guard.
Last thing, ST or anyone, is Lacount legit? Is he as advertised? Will he come in and compete for a starting job right away?
Way to go Momo!
Awesome Momo
You won the Jersey Sept 13 and you never get them yet?? The damn season is almost pau. Sad those guys….
Good evening Tsaiko’s everywhere.

Congrats to Noriko’s son!

Yee Ha you guyz. welcome welcome Warriors!
Notre Dame is the epitome of class through the ages, if you ask me.
I am tickled to death that we get to play them. Its my Christmas present to myself to come over and watch this one. Its gonna be a great scrap, as I alluded to in the above. also, a few of my friends attended undergrad at Notre Dame. They speak well of their experience. And Joe Montana was the my favorite in the day. And Lou Holtz. Good thing Lou is not coaching them. ๐ Which goes to show you, coaches make a huge difference. What I wish for is that our coaches get national respect as being great coaches. i’m thinking that they’re heading in that direction. the Cincy game should leave no doubt in their minds that they coulda, more like shoulda, won that one. they neva do what it took to get the boyz to finish off Cincy. now they know. FINISH 4 quarters.
Momo,
glad you’re one of us. You deserve the goodies and the props. thank you for your help in helping us get the field going (i’m assuming you momo are momotaro).

Good to finally meet you and Mrs at the tailgate.
Told Mrs A-House about you later that evening and got good scolding for not tell her you were there – she wanted you to sign her special book.
May have to wait till later as you will not attend the Hawaii Bowl.
Have a good one and be safe!
jm2375
you are really funny. i was gonna say dat in da above but i got so carried away tinkin about beatin ND i porget. ๐
Why on earth did I capitalize burp? Surely it means something.
According to the o-line “in stock” list above, we get plenny o’ dem. The competition should be strong. I wish I could hear Mojo’s or Pride’s thoughts on them.
bighilofan2,
Momo is a different person than momotaro. Momo was the one who got the block of 20 Sugar Bowl tickets so the Tsaikos could sit together…though I ended up having to get other Tsaikos to help out to get much more than 20 because the demand from the Tsaikos and from others was so high!
He wanted to post ever since that Sugar Bowl trip, but his computer died when he got back and he had to wait until Lori could fix it. We actually went straight from the airport to fix his computer…and he went on the blog that night and posted.
DPK,
hiya big friend! sorry I missed you last Tgate. I hope to see you at next Tgate. Make my XMas, for sure!
Bighilofan2:
It was so good to see you at the Cincy tailgate and happy that you will be making the Hawaii Bowl. Are you sitting with Tsaiko group?
Momo is not Momotaro who happens to be your nephew – different person. Momo is Garret’s dad. I introduced you to them at the tailgate.
Howzit Braddah Hilo. Howz you?
This is a classic example of the capacity to forgive. This is off-topic, but I had to quote some stuff from it.

ahhhhh soooooo! tanks for da ed!
welcome from Hilo, Momo. I neva become Tsaiko till right afta da game, when JJ when make his big announcement and I couldn’t believe and then my mind figured out why his outward appearance was so – how shalli say junk – so so so….. (fill in the blank).
anyway, howzit momo.
DPK — did you notice Bighilofan’s description of Shinsho Tei last night? Hmmmm…right next to Hungry Lion. This makes the midnight cattle call a tougher decision? ๐
my cheer at the end of the half, to the Warriors as they pass for the locker room: 4 auarters!
bighilofan2,
I guess I should get out of my habit of referring to all Tsaikos by their blog names and should have mentioned that Momo is my Dad.
By the way Liz, you won’t see Momo wear the jersey to the tailgate because it is going to another Tsaiko–me!

Sun nite Shinsho Tei. GREAT pupuz, drinks, the karaoke was superb because Pride when buckaloose. he wen outmelveen melveen.
Monday morning cuz took me to Hungry Lion next door. the 2 scoops rice,gravy,2 hamburgers, 2 eggs sunny up was too huge. cuz’s porkchops was huge. and this was breakfast at 9:30. super fast.
but company makes the place. I still love your cuz’s place and I plan on going back to Genji’s when I’m in town and you guyz wanna sing.
anyplace is good, as long as you’re in the mix. ๐
Something that came to mind with BigHilo talking about his seats next to the helmet.
For the Hawaii Bowl, I am sure that Hawaii will be using the Makai sideline due to the sun. I recall once that they wanted Hawaii to use the “visitors” locker room so players don’t cross each other when entering/exiting the field. I wonder if this will happen??
AHouse,
I’ll be around. My cuz wants my tix.
OK, big bradda, looking for you on 12/24/08.

plus, the kids need “security” protectah! LizK knowz what i mean. ๐
Bighilofan2 — you can identify the people who will sing…no matter where ๐ I think we Tsai-kos have come a long way in just enjoying ourselves in this regard. Anytime, anywhere.
But Mei Ling’s brother-in-law (who has gone to many places) pointed out that different karaoke venues have different equipment and song selections. Especially relevant is the languages (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Filipino, etc.) and the age of the songs. The 50’s and 60’s and certain genres are getting harder to find. That’s why he gravitates back to older venues like Genji’s for oldies and extensive Japanese. We have to do more research ๐
Prideperiod knows the older Pioneer systems. He knows the songs by their code number ๐ He sings once in while too. ( Bighilofan2 sings very well too, although I have not heard him since March call).
Bighilofan2 — next time you are in Hono, remember that it only takes two to have a Karaoke Call.
Notre Dame get how many 5 star guyz on their team? Their fastest D guy is how fast?
I googled Notre Dame Football Hawaii Bowl and stub hub got some tix for them, way way up in the toooleez kinda like where LizK and we sat in Florida. ๐ or in the Sugar Bowl. ๐

Good Evening Everyone:
Posted earlier today:
Tsaiko Lurker Kamaliโo NYC, the generous donor of two season tickets to Coach Alan Inabaโs after school program at Dole Middle School, will be visiting her family here in Hawa`i.
Therefore, I am putting together a Luncheon Cattle Call for Sunday, December 21 – probably around 12:30 pm. Alan and Barry, his assistant coach, will be attending along with their wives.
Recommendations wanted for a great place to eat with some scenic vistas and some local atmosphere – $20 to $25 per person including tip – anywhere on O`ahu. I’ll need to make reservations ASAP given the time of year. Either buffet or off-the-menu is okay.
Even if you don’t want to or can’t attend because of other commitments, please post your suggestions here. Signups will start as soon as a location is selected.
Sorry – forgot to take the bold off.
A House, back at you, we really enjoyed he t-gate you guys are really welcoming. My wife felt really comfortable.
Sorry U got scoldings but we’ll catch up later and tell Mrs A House not to be too harsh on you! LOL!
Have a Safe and Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the remarks I got from my posting. Yes Garret is my son and momo was a name I got from my teacher friends when I was younger and as they said chubby and cute. So over the years I got to like the name and used it in many ways. Off the subject, I am good at hydroponic and will be willing to teach the subject to those of you who wants to grow things this way…let me know

How to live in a world that’s politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to “Elves”,
“Vertically Challenged” they were calling themselves.
And labor conditions at the north pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.
Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society.
And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.
So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!?
The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops.
Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur trimmed red suit was called “Unenlightened.”
And to show you the strangeness of life’s ebbs and flows:
Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose
And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in over-due compensation.
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
Who suddenly said she’d enough of this life,
Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.
And as for the gifts, why, he’d ne’er had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.
Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.
Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot.
Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls. Or just for the boys.
Nothing that claimed to be gender specific.
Nothing that’s warlike or non-pacific.
No candy or sweets…they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden.
For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.
No baseball, no football…someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.
Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.
So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.
He tried to be merry, tried to be gay,
But you’ve got to be careful with that word today.
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.
Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.
A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;
Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere…even you.
So here is that gift, it’s price beyond worth…
“May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth.”

The night before Christmas for an attorney
Whereas, on an occasion immediately preceding the Nativity festival, throughout a dwelling unit, quiet descended, in which could be heard no disturbance, not even the sound emitted by a diminutive rodent related to, and in form resembling, a rat; and
Whereas, the offspring of the occupants had affixed their tubular, closely knit coverings for the nether limbs to the flue of the fireplace in expectation that a personage known as St.Nicholas would arrive; and
Whereas, said offspring had become somnolent, and were entertaining re: saccharine-flavored fruit; and
Whereas, the adult male of the family, et ux, attired in proper headgear, had also become quiescent in anticipation of nocturnal inertia; and
Whereas, a distraction on the snowy acreage outside aroused the owner to investigate; and
Whereas, he perceived in a most unbelieving manner a vehicle propelled by eight domesticated quadrupeds of a species found in arctic regions; and
Whereas, a most odd rotund gentleman was entreating the aforesaid animals by their appellations, as follows:
“Your immediate co-operation is requested. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen; and collective action by you will be much appreciated, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen”; and
Whereas, subsequent to the above, there occurred a swift descent to the hearth by the aforementioned gentleman, where he proceeded to deposit gratuities in the aforementioned tubular coverings.
Now, therefore, be ye advised: that upon completion of these acts, and upon his return to his original point of departure, he proclaimed a felicitation of the type prevalent and suitable to these occasions
