Wednesday report
• After acing two physical examinations — the 1-mile run yesterday and agility drills today — running back Daniel Libre was cleared to practice. Libre, who did not play last week because of a high-ankle sprain, will play against Oregon State.
• Running back Leon Wright-Jackson worked out on the sideline today. He has a strained arch. He is expected to play against Oregon State.
• Aaron Kia, who did not play against Weber State because of tendinitis in his knees, practiced as the No. 1 left tackle today. Keith AhSoon, who started at left tackle last week, was back at left guard. The Warriors are prepared to be without Laupepa Letuli, who has a small tear in his left shoulder. Letuli did not compete in team drills today.
• Jovonte Taylor has been slowed by tenderness in his knees. Although he is expected to play this weekend, it could open the way for Malcolm Lane to return kickoffs. Lane had two kick returns for touchdowns last year. Ryan Mouton is the other kick returner.
* * *
Ran into Blaze Soares today. His left foot was in a medical boot. I think he’s figuring on returning, at the latest, for the Fresno State game. There’s a chance he might make it for San Jose State. (That’ll keep Dick Tomey up at night.)
* * *
The biggest hit of today’s practice came when an offensive lineman blocked safety Desmond Thomas, who inadvertently floored head coach Greg McMackin. Princess Leila described it as that familiar movie scene, when a guy is standing in front of a train and, in the next scene, the guy is gone. McMackin, being the tough guy, got up immediately. I think we’re missing Princess Leila’s videos.

Happy birthday to bighilofan. Whoop. Aaron’s birthday is on the 21st. But it’s never too early to wish Ronnie’s son a happy birthday.

By the way, the answer to yesterday’s mystery meat question is … guinea pig.
hi
It is great that Kia was able to practice today…hope that Letuli is fine after the bye week.
Happy Birthday Aaron!
I’m glad that Libre and LWJ will be able to play at Oregon State. That makes it interesting to see who wil make the travel roster at RB–my guess is Libre, LWJ, Rego, and Pilares (who is at 2 positions).
Top 5…
Lots of info from this article on scout.com on the UH-Oregon State matchup.
Happy Birthday Aaron!
I like the news about future games with Oregon St. Hopefully we can help out the tourism with some good “traveling” schools from cold climates!
This Oregon paper seems to be looking past the UH game.
Nice to have Kia back and AhSoon move back to LG. AhSoon can move mountains so LWJ, Libre, Rego, Pilares can hit the hole and go. I think now that Rego has shown flashes, Pilares can move back to slot right? Can’t wait to see Jake Heun in action as our big back…
Garret – I think that Oregon paper had a typo…cause I know the Buck Tooth Beaver team is supposed to be 0-5 not 1-4…silly rabbits! 😉
Pauoa Boy,
With LWJ and Libre not fully healthy, I would think that Pilares might need to be used at RB if they aggravate their injuries. It is nice that Pilares is also a backup slot receiver, so UH has some roster flexibility with a limited travel roster.
Tyler got a mention here, but this fantasy sports site called him “disreputable”.
Pilares hasn’t taken any reps at slotback this week.
Another note about RGM. Looks like he’s on the practice roster this week as he needs to learn the offense quickly and try to get on the field. Also note that BC added another WR the same day that they added RGM–RGM has to beat that guy out plus the WRs that are already on the roster and have been playing in the system. I believe he can do it, but he needs to learn fast and be healthy.
Garret – Yups…true, I was just saying though with Rego back there Pilares could move back to slot ensuring all injuries are healed of course. Regardless though I would like to see Pilares get more touches he needs to be on the field one way or the other, he’s badarse!
Eh so I heard that the Underwater LegoLand place sucks. We got some free tickets to go but from the reviews I’ve been hearing I dunno if I like waste my time. Maybe we’ll check it out and just go LegoLand if not good.
I used to wonder why USC recruited sooo many rb’s?, with the recent rb injuries at UH recently, I can appreciate having 4-5 rb’s available for every game and then some.
I like that Rego kid…..tough like Nate.
ST,
Interesting info on Pilares. With the health situation at RB right now, I think that was a good decision. Pilares has the bye week to get back up to speed at slotback, and the bye week is a good time to get the RBs back up to speed after their returns from injury.
I hate it when I repeat myself….recent=recently? dahhhh?
With all of the Ching/Cooke field controversy, and bickering back and forth, this is something that I’m sure will bring a smile to some UH fans–pulled off another site.
McMayor?
Some funny stuff to lighten up the mood a little it seems….
http://www.freakcrazy.com
Pauoa Boy,
I agree with you about the RB situation–my guess is that Pilares will be back practicing at slotback next week.
I took my family to Sea Life Legoland (we had free tickets) and it was a waste of time. Maybe your boys might like to go once for an hour or less, but after that you will be done with it and probably won’t go back!
ST – Thanks for the info, Pilares to me at either RB or WR is a star in the making…
ST you got any inside scoops on the Australian Monster from Down Under…6’5 310lbs. Jesse Williams…seems like a huge, strong guy at only 17 years old. Scary to see what he could develop into in a few years!
Is Chad Mock still w/the BC Lions?
The Advertiser’s website has the Washington Post article about wondering if Campbell is a bad fit for the West Coast Offense…if he is a bad fit I hope that Colt gets a shot sometime after midseason.
The Oregonian likes the idea of UH playing Oregon State every year.
Garret – Yeah I’ve heard, even my other friends were saying it’s nothing special kind of like a museum, cool to look at but gets old quick. Anyway, we might just go since it’s free.
PB:
I spoke with Jesse Williams a few days ago. Darn time difference. He was a day ahead, so it was like calling into the future.
Nice guy.
I met him last year, when he attended two UH practices. Big guy. No neck. If it’s possible to look strong, well, he looked strong.
He was lost in the shuffle for a bit. But he’s good to go now. If he doesn’t make it as a d-tackle, he’ll be an offensive guard.
Article about how badly Oregon State needs to win this game. I knew that Oregon State’s D was young, but it is amazing that ALL 7 of their front 7 on D are first-year starters!
I don’t feel comfortable with this… Sure PAC 10 opponent but they DO NOT need anymore help plucking local talent away from UH via scouting.
Occupational hazards of a coach suck. And office workers complain of carpal tunnel as a problem?
Looks like Oregon State’s punter has been having problems…that could be important for the field position battle.
That would be good to play a Pac-10 team on a yearly basis. Oregon State is alright but would rather play maybe ASU, Cal, UCLA, or the other Oregon team with ugly uniforms that quacks me up!
The starting QB for Virginia has the same favorite NFL QB as many people in Hawaii!
OSU punter:
I watched a tape of the OSU-Penn State game. That punter takes a long time to kick. I guess UH fans are spoiled by Jake Ingram’s quick snaps.
Pauoa Boy,
I’d prefer for UH to play Stanford every year because they don’t recruit in Hawaii much and because they aren’t very good so UH can pound a Pac-10 team every year. Plus, I have friends that live right next to campus so I have a free place to stay for the games!
I think that most of the Pac-10 teams who are interested in playing in Hawaii are the ones who recruit heavily in Hawaii. That is why I like Stanford as an opponent.
Pauoa Boy,
The only nice thing about Sea Life Legoland is that it is indoors and air conditioned. Plus, it is junk so there are no lines. So, you can go there in the middle of the day when it is hot and the lines are longest at Legoland, as a nice air-conditioned break.
ST,
UH fans will *really* miss Jake Ingram. I’ve seen first-hand how a bad long snapper can hurt a team. Even last week we could see how punt snap problems really hurt Weber State.
This article in the Fresno Bee lists 4 BCS buster candidates–the 4 ranked teams (Fresno State, East Carolina, BYU, Utah).
ST – Nice, hope he got Kangaroo speed to go with his super-size and strength. It’s been awhile since we’ve had some massive DT’s to clog the middle. Would like to see UH go after more big athletic DLineman, although it seems we always end up with barrell chested short guys…The Turtle, Lui Fuga, Fale, Seti, Samuseva, etc…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARON!!
Tell your mom I’ll give her Colt’s DVD in Fresno. Which is fitting b/c that’s the first time ST introduced me to Colt.
Okay, last minute trip….maybe??? What’s the best airport to fly to for Saturday’s game? That is, shortest drive from airport to Stadium. I may fly in Sat. morning and come back to L.A. after the game.
The Fresno Bee talked about UH.
I really hope Kia starts and we keep Ah Soon at guard.
Rich,
You asked about Nevada’s situation today so here is an update.
ST,
I *know* we are missing Princess Leila’s videos! At least we have her great stories that help us get to know the players in depth.
A mighty Happy B-day from A-House ohana to Bighilofan2 and Aaron, son of Ronnie, with many more to come!!!!!!!!!
I found 3 stories about Bess and then I’m out of stories to post. This one is from scout.com.
Stanford is not bad too, my uncle played football for them and cousin played softball too. Plus my cousin is the assistant softball coach there.
This one is from the Palm Beach Post. The article is about first-round pick Ginn, but it mentions Bess.
Speaking about Stanford, the crazy thing about Greg Camarillo who is on the Dolphins is that he was a *walk-on punter* at Stanford. And now he’s in his 3rd year in the NFL at WR!
Davone Bess will be a starter very soon in Miami. He’s already taken Ginn Jr.’s spot as the punt returner and is there best sure-handed receiver. Ginn Jr. has speed but we all know Davone has hands and quicks!
Last article I found–this one is from the Associated Press. It is GOOD that Bess is working hard to improve, but kind of sad that he’s the only WR that stayed late to study film with Miami’s QB.
fiddysecund!
Wow, we got the new blog past 50 posts really fast! Well, I’ve got to get back to work…I always take a break when I notice a new post, but rarely have been able to post in the top 10.
Hope Coach Mack isn’t injured too, sheesh. Anyway, Blaze needs to make sure he’s 100 million percent good before he plays again. This could be his last year to play and that would be very sad if he can’t get on the field and do what Blaze does and DESTROY all! Everyone knows the demeanor he brings to the football field and how he strikes fear and makes you want to she-she pants like that Boise State running back who got CRUSHED! Get healthy Blaze…
Dear Warriors,
“I guess we took them lightly”… No excuse. Sometimes talent will be overtaken by sheer will.
You guys will embark on your third challenge of the season in a few days. You’ve been to hell and back at Florida and that is done with and in the books. Oregon State has your number thus far and they came into our house and watched us walk off the field with our heads down.
The difference this season is that MANY of you know how to win. MANY of you lived survived San Jose State, LaTech, and Nevada from last year. History was on the line last season and this year, respect is the prize to be won. No ring, no shirt, and no cap or trophy is given for that.
Don’t second guess yourself and just win the day!!!
ONIPA’A!!!!
I just hope Chad Pennington can give Bess some oppurtunities to work his magic. I’m glad our boys are in the NFL but sucks they are on bad teams with less than stellar QB’s. Ashley Lelie – Oakland, Davone Bess – Miami, C.J. Hawthorne – Buffalo
Pretty impressive that Davone was the only guy studying with Pennington! That type of work ethic, along with his amazing talent is going to make him a success. Awesome to see him being so hungry, humble and driven!
Kazz – Howzit just got the jersey in today. Not really enthusiastic about the jersey though as I would expect more from Under Armour. The quality of the replica jersey is really subpar in my opinion. Whoever they got as the designer for UH apparel should be fired. Anyway, I hope they have some authentic ones coming in soon.
Jon – You got that right, I think Davone understands that although he’s a rookie, he probably will be there best receiver soon. Ginn Jr. is good but not great, we all know how great Davone was and can be.
K check you guys lataz…
Garret,
Next year we loose Ingram, Grasso, and Kelly. Farmer was also taking the spot at LS, but he’s a senior too.
However I think ST mentioned that Ingram’s younger brother will enroll at UH.
Still those three made a big difference in key situations last season on the FGs and the improved PAT game.
Yes, service unit plays will be big question mark next season.
Yeah it’s Nike quality…. hahahahahaha…
It’s the same quality as the Nike ones last season. Besides, I’ve seen the other UA schools replica jerseys and they are the same.
However if UA doesnt have authentic ones for the other schools either. Again if they do release them for UH, they will be more expensive than usual even for an authentic jersey due to the tapa and all that.
Happy birthday BHF2 and Aaron
Funny that people who complain about the quality of replica jerseys make like they actually need it to be game quality….as if they’re actually gonna play a real game. Ah c’mon.
Happy birthday bhf2 and Aaron!
Homey – I just give the schmoodles peanut butter sandwiches. Dey gonna be so busy eating,…. hehehe.
Hi, Gang,
That’s how you will succeed, Davone, get on the good side with your starting QB, show dedication and build chemistry, so when you’re in the game, he will be in sync and he will be looking for you, making each other look good.
bhf2 and Aaron,
Happiest of Birthdays to the two of you.
The offocial Oregon State nail biting period has commenced.
I was able to get my hands and handle a true authentic UH UA jersey and the quality is so much more thicker and colors vibrant down to the tapa print. Its too bad that the replicas could not be like the Nike Swingman jersey–at least it has that stitched look.
Don’t forget: there’s a difference between “authentic” and “bonafide.”
ST- when does the team leave for Oregon? Any itinerary items you can share with us yet?
BHF2 and Aaron….Happiest of B-days to the both of you….
Time to moe moe….burp….
happy to hear about Bess watching tapes with Pennington. Hard work will pay off like it did for him here.
now that Tyler stay QB-ing, maybe Pilares should stay at RB,he looks more natural at RB. could move Inoke to slot, he has the legs. Then BR and GA get more reps to be ready.
Just wanted to remind everyone as well that the TV Gate for the next away game, which will be broadcast at 10:00 a.m., has been scheduled. So, for all you local fans who are not able to join Stretch and his merry band on the road to Corvalis, here are the details:
UH vs. OSU
Saturday, September 13, 2008
10:00 a.m.
Ige’s Restaurant and 19th Puka
98-761 Oihana Pl
Aiea, HI 96701
(808) 486-3500
They will open at 9:30 a.m. I will get there a little earlier because they do not take reservations no matter how big your party is. I would appreciate it if a couple people could get there early as well so we can save a big enough area for all who are attending.
According to Ige’s, they will serve some breakfast stuff, but will have mostly lunch and pupus. It is also being sponsored by Bud Light so I am assuming Bud Light girls will be there and they may have some specials (KK, that’s right up your alley). There will also be a contest for the Ultimate Warrior Fan. Per Ige’s, “Three lucky winners will receive tickets for the 2009 UH vs. UNLV game. The theme is the Ultimate Warrior Fan so come dressed to impress and unleash your inner Ultimate Warrior.” Not sure what that’s all about but I’ll put it out there.
Anyway, if you plan on coming to the event, please RSVP me at jgo8464822@aol.com so that we can save enough seats. People are always welcomed to just stop by but it would be good if we had a rough estimate of the number attending so that enough room can be made.
Also, you can check Steve M’s website for details.
Thanks.
Just spoke with the OSU quarterback.
That guy is a super funny.
Everyone going to the OSU game – – –
Breakfast will be this Saturday at 8am

Stretch will make a reservation for 20-25. So far I have 17 confirmed. No problem if we go over and we know in advance — we can always raise the number!
If you were planning to join us there and have not responded to my e-mail please do so at wafan at comcast dotnet. Or, if you are going to the game and did not receive the e-mail please contact me if you are interested in car-pooling and dinner.
Saw this ranking on rivals.com
28 Punahou Honolulu HI 3-0 36 @ St. Louis
Punahou is set to play St. Louis (HI) after a several tune up games including this weeks 42-19 victory.
Interesting that they are the only school from Hawaii considering the quality of some of the other teams that play against them.
Rob25 – I just saw that also….and Mater Dei is #26.
OSU quarterback if funny? Did he say they’d win or something? HA HA HA HA HA
GO WARRIORS!!!
I was curious to see how things would pan out for the 2 slots that left early. I guess we’ll see who’s still playing in a few years or so. Davone seems to be in the good graces of his Coach and QB. Hope RGM can make it back to the NFL.
BB,
You own an authentic UH UA jersey? The only ones I ever saw in person up close was at the blog bash on the UA dummies.
Hey Kazz…who you calling a dummy? Remember I put one on for the pic….

Funny that people who complain about the quality of replica jerseys make like they actually need it to be game quality….as if they’re actually gonna play a real game. Ah c’mon.
I like quality authentic jerseys for the simple fact it looks and feels better to wear. Plus I’d rather dish the money out for something I know I will wear with pride and cherish and look good in! I pay for quality not quantity cause I’m a firm believer in “you get what you pay for”. Just to let you know I still play football and in real games too not fake, I promise I not lying, fo reals kine, you like come watch? Ah c’mon!
Kazz – Yup das dah onleh ones I seen too on the dummehs…
James,
“Mannequin” doesn’t sound too masculine.
Aunty Rob25 and Ronnie…You guys driving up Saturday morning? You going be staying in Fresno and leave Sunday or right after the game. I going probably stay up in Fresno and drive back next day. But sounds like need to get together before the game and pre-flight and den have aftah party when we whip on the Puppies.
Kazz…LMAO…At least I had pants on in my picture…not like those “dummies”….MWAHAHAHAHAHA
Anybody else going Fresno St. game?
I know the dummehs no sound to macho but I wish I had dem buggaz arms and six pack…
PB – We are staying at the Homewood Suites. We will leave on Sunday morning.
Rob 25 – How much costing you for stay over there? I was looking online for some places das why…I think my son coming with me so I not going drive back until Sunday too.
I don’t know if I could ever bring myself to go to a game AT Fresno. It’s hard enough trying to stay in my seat when their fans are “making house” at Aloha Stadium.
Kazz – No worry, we going make sure we are represented well in the Puppy Dog Stadium. I know it’s hostile territory but no matter to me, if they like get nawts, we get nawts…chee huu!!!
Nah you can!
.
.
.
You just won’t be able to pass a drug test.
Pb – paying $106.40…it’s their military rate and includes all taxes. The room I got has a king bed and a queen sofa sleeper. Homewood Suites is part of the Hilton line. I was going to make sure that I was staying somewhere safe and reputable…like you said…you get what you pay for.
PB,
No need one authentic jersey for Flag football. Dat no count eh. Ah c’mon!
I wonder if the jersey they presented to boyd gaming at halftime was an authentic UA jersey.
Homey two shawty DA BEAST YO! – eh how come you never say that buleh, sheesh throw me off sorry ah. I catch you at your next Powder Puff Game, let me know when…mahalos!
Aunty Rob25 – Right on, I think I going tommorrow to check with the ITT on base and see what kind deals they get. Me too normally stay at more high class resorts/hotels…if possible and within reason. So knowing that you guys staying overnight, I heard going have aftah party when our boys pau whoop Fresno’s @ss right?
Kazz,
Oye so drinking protein shakes and lifting weights no help???…ahhh frikk I give up alreadeh den dayumit! 🙂

And you’re right, Aaron was smiling from ear to ear when I told him where and who his good wishes were coming from.
PB – I’ll be trekking to Fresno. There’s a 5.5 (1:00 pm – 6:30 pm )hour tailgate prior to the game sponsored by:

Penis, indeed
J-Dog:
It is an authentic jersey. Its being framed as I type.
BB,
How did you get one???
Wow, Rich! You get to go to the game this weekend? Lucky!
BTW,
Isn’t this the 3rd time Coach Mack was “taken out” by his own players this season??? 😯
Kazz,
The jersey that was presented to boydgaming was authentic and I was fortunate to see it and feel it on Saturday night. Everything stitched and the material down the sides was different than the front. Very tapered as well. Too bad that the number is “08”….Needless to say, its a nice jersey.
If I could only find a way to steal it some how….jk
Ronnie – MAYBE, a big MAYBE. A certain blog host insists I should make a trip up there. Only problem is no ticket. He said “no problem”. I’m supposed to go to a dinner show Sat. night at 7:30 w/ Margo. Let’s see – game at 1, ends around 5, 2.5 hour flight back. I might make it….
Rich – that’s a big YIKES!

Rich2176 – Right on, thanks I will send you email shortly…
BB,
Even the #s were stitched? I have an authentic #15 Nike one and the #s are still screen printed on but with a thicker coat and I’m pretty sure the players’ ones were the same too as I could see the edges of the #s peeling in photos from last season.
I can’t remember if the #s on the Under Armour ones were stitched though.
Kazz – I know what you saying, funny how all the advertisements say in 30-60 days you can look like this…but in reality it’s been how many years and uh…I still no look like Arnold, what da heo?
If I was back in Korea I bet you I can get one authenic looking UA jersey with stitching and all garrans. Those people can do some amazing stuff, very industrious and will work wonders if you give em some kala.
Rich,
No can, LA traffic will kill you B4 u get home
LV – I live 10 min from Burbank (Bob Hope) airport.
PB – Please don’t email homey to me….(shortly)
Rich,
can u actually fly from Oregon to Bob Hope?
ST on 1420am next. Clck on my name.
Rich2176 – huh?
PB
Shortly+Shorty (Homey)
get it?
oops. here it is
Kazz,
Numbers are stitched. The “0” and the “8” were of the Nike Swingman type except it seemed a little more thicker. It is very very tapered. And there is definetely a difference of the mesh material on the front/ back and the spandex type material along the sides. It seemed pretty big, something that a lineman would wear. It seems pretty thick and sturdy. Did you see that pic of Mouton from the Florida game in SI where the defender is tearing the jersey?….it has a lot of elasticity as shown in that pic. What is ghetto is that the nameplate that says “BOYD GAMING” was in the thin plastic/vinyl??? lettering like how the custom jerseys were done last year. Im assuming that whenever there is a corporate sponsor for the game and the Athletic Department presents the jersey it will be with the same ghetto nameplate but with a different company name.
Sup Hawaiianbod – yeah ST stay on right now…
Pauoa boy, don’t underestimate Stanford. Not too long ago Stanford went to rose bowl. They also kicked Norte Dames okole a couple of times. Stanford was a formidable team in the Pac-10 during Dennis Greens’ and Tyrone Willinghams’ tenure. I remember one year where Stanford beat USC, UCLA, CAL. Yes the Stanford program has its ups and downs. With Jim Harbaugh, they might be on the right track.
Rich2176 – Oye haha I geff em sorry lil bit off today…
grrr. here it is.
LV – I’m thinking either Alaska or Southwest….
Sorry PB, only someone as dimented as LV would get my poor attempt at a joke so quickly
Mclovin – I don’t underestimate anybody…Stanford is alright just never cared for them too much. My uncle played football for them and my cousin played softball and is the assistant softball coach. I’m just saying if we were to schedule a Pac-10 team I’d rather play ASU again, UCLA, Cal, seems like the game would be more exciting playing those teams instead of Stanford. Nothing against them as any Pac-10 team would be good on our schedule every year…
Rich2176 – No worries, I had to read um twice to get it sorry had a blonde moment haha…
Sounds so stupid when they say Chad Ocho Cinco, WTF what a dumbarse name!
I dunno Spanish to well but isn’t # 85 Ochenta Cinco anyway???
I hope Libre isn’t rushing back too quickly. High ankle sprains need to be taken care of especially well.
Howzit Everybody,
Looks like everybody is slowly but surely coming back from there injuries. Hopefully we can start off fast and keep the momentum going and play a complete game.
Go Warriors.
LV – May not work. SW only has flights from Bur to Portland. Don’t know how long the drive is to Corvalis(sp?). Alaska flight lands at 12:40 in Eugene but returns at 1:15…hmmmm
And happy birthday to bighilofan2!
Chad “whatshisface” is a moron and an attention w**re. A pityful example of the BAD side of pro athletics.
However, I heard Rob DeMello quote this nickname for UH’s own Aaron Bain who also wears #85…
POCHO CINCO
Bain apparently liked it.
So… WARRIOR NATION.. GET THE SIGNS FOR THE HOME GAMES READY!!!
Glad to see Hawaii youth getting their small town college experience.

Afalava was held out of the season opener while serving a one-game team suspension after pleading guilty to driving while under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving after driving his car into a bus shelter and leaving it there Feb. 9 of this year, according to the Gazette Times.
Several changes/additions to the Tsai-ko away game plans today. I think I’ve caught up for now…
http://home.hawaii.rr.com/smurashi/tsai-kos/away08.html
Excuse me, I meant to say that #85 for Cincy in the NFL is a GREAT example of what is WRONG with pro athletes.
Haha Pocho Cinco…
Jason – That is a real pain in the arse injury especially for a running back. I agree that he should fully heal before banging heads but like all athletes the desire to play every game is hard to get out of the system. Especially as a Senior, it’s the last year to make something happen and I bet they would all like to leave everything on the field healthy or not. Sucks though as it seems injuries kill us every year…
ST stay on now gang…
Pauoa Boy,
sorry i pulled the trigger too fast. Actually my comment about stanford should have been addressed to Garret who said that UH should play Stanford every year because they are “beatable”. As for me I agree with you that UH should rotate and play different Pac-10 teams each year. I’d love to see UH play UCLA or Cal.
Nice talk about Kealoha Pilares, IMHO I think he’s a dynamic player ala Reggie Bush. Can run the ball and very dangerous in space, but I think he’s better at receiver than running back although he’s very good in the backfield too. Regardless glad he came home to play for us, he’s one of my favorite Warriors to watch play. Wonder if UA will make a Pilares jersey too?
Mclovin – No worries I know what you meant…
LMAO haha ST ask your people the Tsai-kos haha…
Sorry listening to 1420 with ST, kind of funny…
The President, CEO, and the King of the Tsai-kos ST chee huu, auryte…
Yes, found the UH-OSU on my TV Sat afternoon and hit record on my DVR. Fox College Sports Pacific. I pay like $3-4 a month for Fox College Sports. Watching a recap of the PSU – OSU game now. Don’t care much for his politics but Murdoch knows about to provide “sport”.
afternoon tsai-ko country. closed shop early so lurking. everyone doing good so far?
sorry kazz but hafta disagree with you. I would like to see UH play more pac 10 teams betta yet if home and home series. may work both way where da local boys see we just as competitive and stay home plus we get looked as by some coastal state talents and dey may want to come UH. also nice oratory speech to da warriors. 😀
pboy I think kpilares better used as rb. so far as a slot back we are wasting him. he gets more touches and give offense a better option.
bhf2 on your bday ….. glasses up and okole maluna
hey kama got the pic sent to you?
Howzit errybody!
AHouse, we going make dat tasteful bannah fo sure.
SADOWSKI help.
No make trouble!
I like da idea of petitions going around da stadium at a couple games, starting 9/27. that is a great great idea. tasteful kine, anykine, the idea is to avoid the 5 year wait, and the only way to do that is to keep the pressure on so that all the decision makers realize that Dennis Sadowski’s actions are hurting UH athletics. And yes, I respect his right to breathe my air!
Go Warriors!
Happy Birthday Aaron, today AND on the 21st! (eh, take it from me….enjoy it now when having two in one year is something you can laugh at!)
Happy Birthday bighilofan2!
Hope Coach Mack is OK but more concerned about Stephen “running into” Blaze Soares! 😯
(J)J,
Heard about any traffic snarls on Red Hill?
heheheh
I 100% agree UH and OSU should have a home and home series starting right now. UH cannot nor should not try fo recruit errybody here. If can, can, if no can, no worries! OSU would be good fun, Hawaiian flies Portland. Plenny Hawaii kids go school all ova Oregon. Plus, great fo make smoke salmon connections. 😀 If wuz me, I’d go for it! I wuz planning fo go, the airfares not too too too bad, can make connections. 😀
plus, we can grind on da beaver! 😆
Koakane,
I no doubt that having OSU on the schedule on a regular basis will only make UH bettah.
But me being me, and I’m shua you feel the same way in a sense… “WE MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE!!!”.
My cynical side is telling me OSU only wants the ability to steal more local talent away from UH and this I am disgusted with, but don’t get me wrong, I am NOT against local sons and daughters going for what is best for them, but sometimes the lure of “fame and fortune” in the “Conference of Champions” sometimes is NOT all that it’s advertised and vice-versa of course.
So I am all for PAC-10 relationships, but I QUESTION the PAC-10’s motivation.
Hey, more power to them for wanting to recruit the BEST (in Hawaii obviously), but it reeks of “manifest destiny”. 😆
In any case, if OSU wants to risk their chances at a TOP 25 ranking by playing UH on a regular basis then…. BRING IT!!!
Lets face it,
Sadowski not going quit.
He going stick to his right to contest
contest contest. and den contest samoa.
which means da field not going get fixed.
which means I going keep making plenny
plenny plenny noise until da general public
gets tired of Sadowski contesting and
contesting and contesting and
the PUBLIC STARTS DOING SOMETHING.
so my idea about the PUBLIC DOING
SOMETHING IS THE BANNAH AND
PETITION CRUSADE AT THE PLACE.
LIKE DOC SAID, HE’S NOT DOING THIS
AS CO-HA, with their 15 emloyees and being
a single family dwelling homebuilder,
he is doing this as a individual.
WHICH GOES WITH MY EARLIER STUFF,
THIS IS ALL ABOUT SADOWSKI!
SADOWSKI OR WARRIORS.
CHOOSE..
GO WARRIORS!
An OSU alum once told me, “Real men prefer beavers”!!!
I retorted, “BIGGER men POUND ‘EM!!!”.
He konna contest SAAAmoa???
He konna loose.
Happy Birthday to BHF2 and Aaron!!!
Kazz,
to be a national power we gotta play good teams.
every year OSU plays good teams so playing them helps us build our crediiblity! they’re close, get public transportation close by, helps with our costs. they want us. we want them. i say Jimmy D, make the call! we think we can lick them, they think they can lick us, so its a fair fight. thats what we looking for, a fair fight. of course, they not going think we is for fair after Saturday. you betta get on it befo da game, Jimmy D. day going change their mine afta da game. 😀
Go Warriors!
kazz
das my reason for playing home and home with pac 1 puka teams. warriors can beat some of dem and more local talent will not leave to look for greener grass. like bhf2 said if dey go best wishes but if dey stay like you say moa betta protected hale. so how yu’s figga?
OSU QB Moevao 5’11”, 230# converted HS DE!
Wow, and da sole can motor! …and hit!
Au-ryte! Game On!
btw kazz gotta think beeeg and always imua. we neva lose till da game is ova and playing home and home has its advantages. if we lose get second game for revenge and if win den bragging till next time.
come on bro ho’oonipa’a like you tell in da speeches lol 😆
PauoaBoy – just fyi, our family refers to Legoland as Lame-o-land…just to give you a heads up. Have fun, just don’t expect too much.
May be going to the Fresno game, just have to see what work has in store first…
GO WARRIORS!!!
A little off-topic, but somewhat relevant:
I just got an email from Terry Brennan. I’m planning on playing golf with him, Vince Ferragamo, and Ray Carrasco (golf pro/British Masters Champion/Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open Champ) from an auction bid I won at Vince’s tournament. I had called Terry, and he said he knew both of them…small world…Vince used to work with Colt, and Terry said Ray has been a family friend for years. And the reason Margo thought of Terry (yeah, right, like I could figure this out) is because they are all in the South Bay.
But, here’s the incredible part of the email. He said he and Betsy are traveling to Hawaii for the Sept. 25(?) San Jose State game. I wonder what the back story for that trip is??? TSAI-MEISTER, a little investigative reporting, sir???
Happy birthday Aaron and bhf2 (da man).
Is Sadowski betting that the people of Hawai’i are that clueless so as to over look another slick and self-indulgent human? Can he truly be that greedy/clueless/heartless/self-centered/shifty/…
d1 what you expect da boy came from good stock his fadda played for da PAC back in da days. heard he had good coaches also bwhaaaaaaaaaaaaa 😉
Kazz,
Pac-10 coaches coming no matter wat. Might as well get da benefit of scheduling home and home with one who thinks it’s gonna give him an edge over other mainland schools.

McLovin,
Trust me, I follow Stanford football and know about the successes you mentioned in the previous post–I grad from there and went to a number of games, and several of my friends have gone to every game for decades. If you look back at my post, I emphasized that Stanford would be my choice because they are a Pac-10 team that does *not* recruit in Hawaii, which would mean that UH would get the benefit of playing a Pac-10 team while avoiding giving a Pac-10 team like Oregon State the big recruiting advantage of regular games in Hawaii to sell to recruits.
I emphasized the recruiting aspect, even mentioned it twice. I did say that Stanford is “beatable”, and is there any argument about that? UH could beat Stanford this season and I believe that Mack will improve UH faster than Harbaugh will improve Stanford–Harbaugh has some limitations in recruiting due to having less “special admissions” than Cal and other Pac-10 schools (see the article I posted in the past day that gave the real numbers for this). I cannot imagine a year in the next 5+ years where Stanford wouldn’t be “beatable” for UH…that doesn’t mean that UH would win every game, but that UH would have a good chance to win each game.
Hurricane Ike is shifting games around in Texas. I hope that Houston, Austin, and all of the rest of Texas aren’t hit badly by the hurricane!

The Bottom 10 for College Football. Oregon State is listed at #3, with its next loss coming from Uh.
The bottom 10 for the NFL.
It is always interesting to me to see what schools have produced the most NFL players. It is amazing to me that Miami has 4 TEs in the NFL and Georgia has NINE DEs in the NFL…we saw first-hand one of those DEs. La Tech is tied for the most kickers in the NFL (2). UH has Elam, McBriar, and soon Dan Kelly.
It looks like Bess is already known in Miami for the yards he can make after the catch.
The Sun-Sentinel wrote about the Bess vs. Ginn debate for returner.
The Palm Beach Post has a great article about Bess! I would love to post the whole thing, but that wouldn’t be fair to the paper and would take a lot of space on the blog. Here are some key excerpts:
Funny how Bess returned one kick and scared the heck out of the Jets so they squib kicked away from him the rest of the game!
Then, Bess did a great job on his first punt return in a regular-season NFL game.
Then, Bess made a nice run after the catch to make a first down.
Bess is apparently known for putting in the extra time to make himself better.
Okay, I’m done with the Bess spam now…
If you believe the recruiting star rating’s you will find Stanford University out recruits Hawaii. Stanford’s athletic department revenues in the Pac-10 are second only to USC. Stanford may be in the bottom half of the Pac-10 but as we saw with Washington last year no Pac-10 team is a pushover. Would be great if we could schedule them but I would say the same for any Pac-10 team.
Btw, Garret,
If it weren’t for your posts I wouldn’t be here nearly as often.
Keep up the great work.
i think everyone is traveling tonight or soon, so its more quiet than normal.

I plugged my iPod into the Asus (Linux) and the music manager came up. But now my iPod says it has nothing on it… even though the files are taken up by “unknown”…argh! Any way I can get my directories back so I can listen to music on the iPod before I re-sync at home?

Wow, last week Chrome had 0.7% of the browser market share, but for some reason IE lost 1.4% of their browser market share. The other 0.7% went to Firefox and Safari. That implies that basically ALL of Chrome’s market share was taken from IE and the introduction of Chrome somehow also boosted IE’s other competitors.
This poor 54-year-old man with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) has eaten 23,000 Big Macs! He eats one or two a day and keeps all of the receipts in a box. His OCD has resulted in him wanting to track his consumption of Big Macs. Amazingly, he’s not really overweight: 6′2″, 185 pounds.
Funny how KFC is making such a big deal (armored car, police motorcade, handcuffed briefcase) about having to move its secret recipe:

KFC’s secrecy over its secret recipe seems pretty extreme! Only 2 of their executives at a time can have access to the recipe? Click my name for that article–I don’t want to break the blog.

A similar post was in the previous blog at 11:29 am today:.
BHF2’s suggestion at #152 and #159 about passing around a petition at the next couple of ballgames may work. I will check with Scott Chan, the Stadium Manager, to see if volunteers can walk around the parking lot before the game soliciting signatures. However, this will take about a dozen volunteers working the crowd between 2 and 5 pm.
We also need to set up a table on campus to collect signatures as well.
A dedicated website for gathering signatures on-line should also be a priority. Any volunteers to help with this? Suggested domain names? Am working on a couple of election-related websites and have some expertise in the area of on-line signatures, but more people taking part in the drive to get the Ching/Cooke Field fixed in a timely fashion makes it easier to be successful. Two or three people cannot do everything.
The banner should have the domain name & address on it so people who who want more information can get it and sign the petition as well.
Any ideas out there as to what else needs to be done?
OldDiver,
I agree that Stanford wouldn’t be a pushover–no Pac-10 team, with their resources and facilities, will be down forever. But they don’t recruit much in Hawaii and I can’t imagine UH would be overwhelmed against them. UH also has been getting a lot of recruits from the Bay Area, so a home-and-home with Stanford (or Cal) could really get that pipeline to flow.
Eh koakane,
Howzit thanks for the picture I got em. Mahalo much.
Er, I can see Saint Louis School fine. What am I missing here? 😀
Maybe the compiler wasn’t patient. Saint Lous showed up on google maps for me…but it took a little time loading, at first I only saw a few white squares and the football field…
Cause otherwise, this means there are dangerous secrets to be revealed about Saint Louis. Ooh, I want to hear the scoops from Bulla and d1shima! 😉
???
No idea.
It shows up fine; maybe that list was compiled by a Damien alum 😉
Now trying to get homey’s house is a different thing!
I’ll check tomorrow to see how many try that tonight.
heheheh
Oyasumina-tsai…
Good evening Tsaikos & Tsaikettes, Lurkers & Lurkettes!
Just checking in to see the news for today…
Happy Birthday BigHiloFan2!
And…Happy Birthday to Ronnie’s son Aaron!
May you both have the merriest of birthdays!
Thanks for your great spam Garret. 🙂
I agree too that Stanford would be a better fit for an ongoing home and home series. I don’t want to give OSU coaches more help in recruiting here. “Be a beaver and you get a free trip home (Hawaii) every other year to play in front of your friends and family.”
Keep up the hard work Davone.
Can’t wait for this Saturday’s game!
Beavers, beavers, let’s eat . beat . meat . kleep . bleep . fleep them beefvers! 😳

Happy early birthday, Aaron! Never too early to start celebrating.
Night-night….
happy birthday guys-bighilofan and aaron….bighilofan it’s time to dye your hair green, the warriors take flight tomorrow without you, with the luck of the irish you might make it to Corvallis…
Cinncinati lost their qb with a broken leg, and Mauk, last year’s qb lost his appeal for a 6th year
Happy Birthday Bighilofan2! Hope you had a great one!
Happy Birthday Aaron! Make some memories!
Good night, folks. The blog is driving me cuckoo tonight. Maybe tomorrow will work better.
uhfan what the hay was that????
OK, my eyes hurt. I spent the past few hours charting the uh-weber state game. I’ve got more useless statistics than you can imagine.
The hardest working reporter in the business, folks. *claps*
ST you should have asked Jason, he may already have the statistics and each play charted. You know these math majors, got no life and lots of time on their hands…
Jason’s a professional numbers cruncher.
I just like to look for trends.
Anyway, time to head home. If I don’t fall asleep, I’ll have an early post.
and the envelope please…….
Good night ST.
and a belated Happy Birthday to BigHilofan2 !!!
Garret,
Thanks for clarification on your comments. Also there is a huge stanford contingent in Hawaii and many will attend games. Yes Stanford is always beatable, but personally playing stanford every year may excite the Stanford Fans in Hawaii, but the rest will get bored. I prefer a rotation of different Pac-10 teams each year.
re: Big Macs.
Garret, i read an article on the web about a college football player whose diet consisted mostly of fast food burgers. He said he ate fast food crap during youth and highschool and never had any problems. He was a little concerned about his diet when going to play ball in college but it still worked for him. Then he got drafted by the NFL and thought he may have to change his diet, but since then hes still swears by his junk food diet and doing well. Sorry I don’t remember his name but I’m sure you can track it down by googling NFL play fastfood or something like that
