Breaking camp
The Warriors practiced for two hours today, beginning at 7 a.m., their earliest start of training camp. Defensive end John Fonoti and defensive tackle Fale Laeli resumed practicing today. After practice, the Warriors broke training camp, officially moving out of the dance studios.
Dan “The Iceman” Kelly packs up:

Quarterback Shane Austin folds his sheets before departing:

The best part of the end of camp? The training table is served in Stan Sheriff Center, which is next to the locker room. During training camp, they had to walk to the student cafeteria overlooking the grass practice field.

Another practice, another ice treatment. Quarterback Inoke Funaki referred to himself as “The Iceman With A Tan.”

Congrats to Rob DeMello. He and his wife will become parents March 10.

Hi J
Got a chance to meet an out of town observer–Larry Jones (1985) and his daughter. Checking out some of his old haunts some no longer in existence. Moose M, Magoo’s; looking to make stop at L&L and Graces.
Too bad no CC today. π
10TH
ST,
Can Aloha Stadium provide recorded crowd noise to simulate game conditions? I would think having it blasting while they’re practicing their gametime scenarios would be really beneficial.
14TH?
Nice pix! Love the Iceman with a Tan.
ALOHA NOON!

“Justifying the picture of Colt Brennan above, he tossed a perfect fade route to Todd Yoder in the corner of the end zone against Reed Doughty and the first team defense.”
Love this report. Colt haters will perspire to hear he is working against the first team defense. His good work in the preseason games has been met with comments like- “he was playing against the scrubs who will be working at burger joints when the season begins…”
Wonder if Colt will get a chance to work with the second or first team this weekend??? wowowow.
HIHO!
Errybody musta been lurkulatin’ on the old blog. Now get plenny posters. π
Ya know, I just can’t help but feel that Inoke’s gonna be a hero in some games this year. The guy has a heart full o’ soul.
Good to hear about Larry Jones still being interested in UH. He was a stud.
I bet Colt as well as Davone and Samson make it to the Florida game.
Correct my date for Larry Jones , media guide says 1986-89
colt had an interview with some radio shock jocks and they asked him “if he banged a samoan.” pretty funny stuff. its streamed someplace just not exactly sure where.
wow, MOJO! Can you imaging what the energy would be like to have some of our great Warrior alums in the crowd in Florida??? HO-O-LY COW!!!
Liz, I saw your comments on the Redskins blog. Way to go, girl.
Howdy Ms. gigi.
hello, DPK.
Good news about Fonoti and Fale.
Tsai,
Is it ok to comment on how the RBs are lookin’?
sjmacro…did get to speak to Larry Jones? Is he with the FBI now?
gigi- did you see my comments in your blog? You are gonna have to sit next to me at the Weber State game and call out the plays while I try to blog from my iPhone. NOT KIDDING. I happen to have a spare ticket…
For a second there, I thought Inoke was wearing a Gator T-shirt!
Just a reminder gangβ¦the first Tsaiko TVgate of the year will be held on August 30th at the bright and early hour of 6:00 a.m. Yes, thatβs right, UHFan808 and jojoβ¦.6 in the morningβ¦LOL.

I really enjoy the way this blogger writes:
http://www.theomfield.com/
“And I have to mention Colt Brennan again, who, by virtue of his second magic act in three appearances, already has the skeptics invoking Babe Laufenberg in their haste to dismiss what is patently obviousβthat the kid has exceeded expectations so dramatically already that, if nothing else, heβs going to be around for a while. Think thereβs a buzz now? Wait until next preseason.”
Here are some helpful UF facts for our Hawaiian visitors.

PS-Bring rain gear…
Today’s practice was pretty ho-hum. Not much to report, really. Most of the time was spent talking to sj-macro, myki, and Kazz; meeting Larry Jones; looking for shade; and getting a smile from Princess Leila when I went to her tree. That smile will make any person’s day. π
Geez, gibu is turning into an addict. Fifth?!?! Not bad…
I’m getting so excited for Genji’s. Every time the menu gets posted, I get hungry. *sigh*

A new choice for us on the mainland? Anybody have some insights?
re: training table
Only schollie players are allowed?
J,
Here is the search I used for hotels.com for Vegas tomorrow. I would recommend Binion’s over Vegas Club if you want to stay downtown.
Is my wife talking nonsense again? aiiiyaaaahh.
Pride: Larry didn’t say he was FBI, but is doing coaching in the San Jose area. Daughter plays BB. He wanted to hook up with Amosa Amosa so I sent him to Derek. Supposed to be leaving Friday.
nap time…esme ✄
Feature on Ken Niumatalolo.
homey: I think the cost of the training table is taken out of their scholarship? Something like that. Non-scholarship players would need to pay, I think. Stephen can clarify that, I’m sure.
I didn’t like this statement about Hawaii.
Don’t forget the LLWS game comes on at 2:00 PM on ESPN.
you sound surprised??!!??
Do the players get dibs on the new dorms?
Thanks sjmacro.
Florida didn’t use a traditional scout (service) team to prepare for UH today…they had their 2nd unit on offense and defense pretend to be the Warriors.
Q&A with Bess!
More from Bess.
One more–looks like at least some of last year’s Warriors are keeping in touch as they try to make NFL rosters.
Kelli – you are one of the lucky ones. Staying slim comes natural. Could it be drinking all that green tea, genetics, high metabolism, chasing after the lil Warrior and/or working out on your elipitical machine?
Joel, thanks for the info. But are you serious about the need for rain gear?
Liz, it would be awesome. Vince Manuwai would have an easy drive over from Jacksonville. Too bad Chad Owens and Tala aren’t there anymore. Then the guys coming up from Miami. And Kynan Forney from Atlanta.
Jason, how did Rausch look? And was Pepa out there?
Gibu, glad you decided to post. Always, good to have more posters.
Kelli, glad you’re here too. I’ve been checking your blog, but haven’t chimed in yet.
Thanks for all the good stuff!!!
Back to that CB interview with the Junkies… There is actually a non-hate thread on ExtremeSkins about it! Ya gotta love the guy eventually!
HIHO
…and, xs, I am walking upright… not stalking
Thanks, Joel — Mojo- you been watching the severe weather reports for FL lately?
Let’s see what Ke Akua has to say about the SWAMP….
WOO HOO!
WARRIOR FEVER!!!
Hey Garret, have you heard anything about whether Harvin is going to play? I’ve heard mixed things.
http://www.wjfk.com/pages/1460207.php
highlights:
-Colt’s girl is hot “silly hot”
-They asked if he banged a samoan
-Leinart and Colt were going after the same girl sophomore year
-Leinart’s sport was originally baseball, threw out his arm so he switched to his other arm to throw
-recap of his preseason start
-coaches pressing him on his footwork
-coach zorn does not hate malcom kelly and devin thomas. Zorn called them out to get them to work harder.
too bad hawaii does not have DJ’s that fit this type of mold.
great to hear fale and fonoti back on da field. asmuch as i wanna c what meatoga & hanohano have got, we need fale’s experience imho. hopefully they’ll be ready come 8/30. gonna need all dem big boyz up front on d to play one helluva game. me tinks w/ harvin and ingram gone, fla’s gonna concentrate on da run game, but what do i know lol.
btw, any1 see the end quote on da first page of the sports section 2day, funny stuff. wie’s coach gave wie’s parents a stiff jab 2 da jaw. hopefully da wie ohana is listening. they betta not act like herm da germ and axe anyone that don’t agree with their methods π
Pepa was out there, but they were doing that mix-and-match stuff for the O-line and receivers, so I only noticed him a few times. Rausch appears to the naked eye like he’s regressing, but Stephen made a good point, that everything now is about getting the timing right, and that is adding to the difficulty. Still, there were two times when Rausch tried to sling a shuffle pass to his backs who were five yards away. The first time, he threw a rocket that bounced off Wright-Jackson’s hands; the second time, he side-armed a pass to his back. I hope he starts to improve soon, though, or I may join the group that is calling for a QB controversy β and I’m a huge Rausch fan! I think it’s a bit early to be calling for a change, but you can’t deny that Alexander and Funaki looked pretty decent today.
Joey Cadiz got carted off the field with what sj-macro and I thought was a shoulder injury, but Kazz said it was a leg injury. Considering Kazz had a much better viewing angle, and the fact that Cadiz was carted off, I think it’s safe to say it was a leg injury.
I can’t say I was very observant today β getting up at 5 AM does that to me, I guess. Things are coming back to me in bits and pieces.
Good Afternoon Tsaikos!
Just catching up after the last few days.
Frank’s in Texas and they are busy getting ready to start training. He was very surprised at how many mentioned him in their posts. Thanks to everyone for making him feel special and appreciated. He got on the bus about 2:30 in the morning yesterday and they flew directly to Fort Hood.
d1 – Thank you so much for your generosity! I was getting ready to pay for us at KK, but Stretch told me that I didn’t owe anything and I knew it was you. Loved being able to listen to you sing again. Tsaiko men have plenty of talent!
Ronnie – I got you tickets…send me an email! We need to get things ready for Fresno, like any news on the hotel?
Hawaiianbod – It was great to meet and talk with you the other night. I hope that we are going to see you at the games.
Check in later! See ya!
da princess’ classmate: Meatoga should be in the rotation this year. We’ll see a lot of him, I think. He’s got a huge upside.
Fonoti looked okay, but Fale might want to take it slow. He still looked a little bit gimpy, not yet 100%. I have confidence in guys like Josh Leonard, Keala Watson, and Vaughn Meatoga. Not having Rocky Savaiigaea hurts, though, cause with him and Fale, that’s one mean five-man rotation.
*sigh* π
i guess those rumors of BR struggling since being promoted to #1 are true.
WM – it’s summer in FL, where it thunderstorms almost everyday in the afternoon. Probably right around the 2nd half of the game. Been stuck outdoors and under umbrellas at Orlando-area theme parks numerous times, sometimes for 2+ hours.
So, can the players move into the dorms today? I thought regular students couldn’t move in till this weekend?
lava,
What I read today seemed to indicate that Harvin would play against UH. Before today I thought he was not going to play. If he doesn’t regress by the end of this week then I’d guess he’ll play. He probably won’t be at full speed though due to the injury.
gibu: Haha, that’s like me. I was a lurker until I started working in athletics, met ST, entered Advertiser Blogland and everything else.
Hawaiianbod: It’s definitely the green tea. I’ve been neglecting my workout routine. Shame on me!
WarriorMojo: Thanks for reading! At least I’m getting the hits! Feel free to leave a comment one day.
WarriorMojo,
My experience in Florida (4 trips) and Texas (8 years) is that in August and September it is quite common to have sudden thunderstorms. It can go from amazingly hot to a downpour back to sunny and hot again in less than an hour! Trouble is, after the thunderstorm the humidity is way up!
Good to hear that Fonoti and Fale are back at practice. Not too good to hear that Fale looks still hampered by injury. I agree with Jason that UH has excellent options at DT and Fale might not want to come back too early if he’s really hampered by injury.
The one thing that everyone has to remember about the QB situation is that whoever the QB is, they are NOT going to be throwing like Colt. If our expectations remain high, everyone will be disappointed when we have an incomplete pass.
Last year, I took it for granted that pass completions were automatic, but when I watched Boise St play in the Hawaii Bowl, I realized it isn’t.
NYUH,
I just ordered that Hawai’i iPTV box thingy yesterday that you referenced in your post and I hope to get it before the first volleyball game. If you’re still a fan of local programming as well as a nostalgic for old-kine UH football and basketball games, you might be up for ordering it.
From what I gathered about the service (with regards to UH sports), all of the football and some of the men’s basketball games will be shown on a tape-delayed basis (10am Hawai’i/1pm Pacific) similar to how it is back home. The volleyball and the remainder of the men’s basketball games will be shown LIVE.
My wife has a recently single friend.
They were looking for the perfect guy.
They came up with … Stretch.
Then they realized Stretch was married.
Now the players are getting picky.
Today they said: “What? There are only green stickers!”
Is this your way to get a free ticket to the Pigskin Pigout??
Garrrett thanks for the note on Florida having the 2d string be the scout team for Hawaii against the 1st string. That’s Urban Meyer even after all the injuries they have had.
Interesting that they are using a 3-3-5– more people are playing this versatile D to counter no-huddle or quick change teams– the 5 DB’s can get confused and they are green in the back, so we will see. We can field a good 3-3-5 team with our safeties and linebackers and Mack is going to be doing something like a 3-3-5.
Take it easy, once the entire offense is set, the first team needs to work on timing and the little things that make it run.
Remember, this is the Ron Lee run and shoot. Everyone still in the learning stage.
SteveM —
Yeah, still here, bru. Might be poppin’ in here this season more often to lend an opinion or two (or three, lol) about football. I don’t drink, but this place is like a neighborhood bar you can cruise by and see what’s goin’ on about UH ball now and then…
Keep the faith π
If Stretch is the perfect guy … β
re 73 π
Koauka: Exactly. Rausch definitely wasn’t Colt, but he didn’t look bad, either, just growing pains. I know people on other boards have talked about a QB controversy, and I think it’s too soon. But Alexander and Funaki are ready for a challenge, so hopefully the light goes on for Rausch again soon.
I think that Funaki should give up football and go for stand up comedy. His quotes are hilarious. Watch out Frankie D.
I sense a bit of jealousy… One of these days you will understand. BTW – I am proud of you for asking Kelli out on her blog.
haha. Am I the perfect woman? Fortunately, I am married.
Ronnie–
Hi yourself! Yeah, great point in the last Blog Post about why they are teaching a new technique with the JUGS machine — live ammo. Still weird not using helmets while practicing catches…seems like a no-no…but I can see the rationale now
Thanks for your take…:)
Are you trying to get Kelli to SMU me? Or worse, her father to show up on my door? Please, it was an open invitation to all those who read Campus Life 101.
I swear, you guys are making me sound like a creep.
Stretch and gigi, sitting in a tree …
I feel nauseous.
Liz, thanks for the offer of a free ticket to the games, but you know me, a little sun or rain would dampen my enthusiasm pretty quick — not to mention having to stay in 1 spot for several hrs.
Hey, maybe, I can get you interested in PPV???
Jason – no worry, A-Joe and I know her father, we’ll put in a good word for you.
Jason, nope, the tree would bend and break.
I guess we’ll have to kidnap gigi, then.
ack, not free ticket.
Jason is not a creep. But if a young Tsai-kette needs sanctuary at a larger Tsai-ko function, they should seek out Bulla’s Bombers and sit in their midst. Those mothers will protect you! π
so long, pals, I gotta go to an appointment.
bye.
Is it too late to get Larry Jones to, IDK, beat Stretch to a pulp?
<sarcasm> We’re now playing Matchmakers on two blogs, yippee. </sarcasm>
ST…Stretch is too young….and Jason…is like a baby….MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Stretch…You are soooo right. Even last year, when Colt was pulled from games or didn’t get put in because of the injuries, people were disappointed when Funaki or Graunke didn’t complete a pass…people were simply spoiled….remember fans booing Graunke and chanting “We want Colt!!!” when TG had a few bad passes….??? Yep, we have to remember that whoever the QB is, it won’t be Colt. The QB is who he is and we need to support him…..
Jason…it’s actually “shovel” pass….although “shuffle” and “shuttle” pass has been used to define that play, the original term was “shovel” pass because the QB “shoveled” the ball to the WR/RB/FB. Some people (especially announcers) misunderstood the term and started calling it a “shuffle” pass or a “shuttle” pass. This misnomer began to stick and today is often used interchangeably. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine.
Jason asked Kelli out on her blog??? When did this happen??? Oh snap, our little boy is growing up….MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA π
Hahah, SteveM, you’ve been watching too many Coach Mack interviews, huh?
Too bad Stretchette realizes that I am NOT perfect…..
Washington – 2
Waipio – 4 (end of 1 inning) – 2 2-run home runs
Kelli, RUN NOW! Run as fast and as far as your legs will carry you!
This is probably before you were a regular reader, but Jason has long been betrothed a… lady named Maryann(e). And Maryann(e) — with her wooden leg — don’t take kindly to people playing with her property.
It looks like the internet options for us mainlanders has more than doubled this year!
If only my DSL Extreme provider gave me ESPNGameplan!
$12.00 per game is still worth it.
J(J), totally agree with you re shovel vs. shuffle vs. shuttle pass. Shuffle pass and shuttle pass don’t even make sense.
Now what’s the difference between a chop block and a cut block?
I used to call it shovel, but the coaches started calling it shuffle. Go tell Alex Gerke that it’s a shovel pass. π
go waipio, oh, and thanx4 da updates
WarriorMojo,
I bring a rain poncho to Florida Field when there is rain in the forecast. Florida Field is wide open, only the luxury boxes have cover over their heads.
I know what you are thinking, and the answer is yes. Rain gear at noon in the Swamp can be a very uncomfortable situation. And because of Fay, Gainesville will be water logged and primed for many hot and steamy greenhouse days.
Plan on being wet if not soaked in sweat on gameday.
Stephen,
If Dan “Iceman” Kelly got the Brent Rausch Look, would he then be the “Shaved Ice Man”
WM – good question. I remember back in my playing days that Leilehua was infamous for their chop blocks (because their line was short in stature).
Jason…I’ll tell him….like I said, the term is commonly used now but it just sort of urks me….I mean, what the heck is the QB “shuffling” to the receiver???
WM – I think the proper term is cut blocking…but the slang term for it is chop blocking…which is more commonly used…but they mean the same thing….
WM – also had to laugh at the Jason/Kelli comment….MWAHAHAHAHAHA…BTW, we haven’t heard/seen Maryanne in a long time….
IMO:
Town Shave Ice: Shimizu Store mo bettah than Waiola
Country Shave Ice: Miura mo bettah than Matsumoto
Hawaiian Bod. What high school did you play for?

Hawaiian Bod. Na Alii, same head coach but new OC. Should be interesting with all of the ex. Crusaders out there. Good luck to Wendall Say and the gang.
By the way, Wendall Say was one of those Mules
Howzit Koakane! Great minds think alike.
Sorry Uncle Al.
The way I learned it, cut blocks are legal when made from the front. Chop blocks are illegal when made in the tackle box, from the side or back, or when the player being blocked is engaged with another player.
Either way, I think it should all be illegal. Even “legal” cut blocks can lead to injuries. The only time a player should be allowed to take another player’s legs out is if that player has the football.
And yeah, shuffle or shuttle make no sense. I guess I’ve gotten used to reading stories that say shuffle instead of shovel, cause from small-kid time I always said shovel. π
yep keeds left at 1:15 and teachers now in grade meetings which is almost ova. so in da AC library.

Jason – I heard Kelli is high maintenance. π
Stretch – At least Stretchette thinks you look cute in UA underwear.
Aunty Liz – thanks for the link! I love Margaret Cho – she is too funny!
Garret read your post on the ponyfans, it’s good that you came on with a positive note, warbow, hawaii and july jones have been trolling and posting a lot of negative info. The SMU people are not biting and they have been putting them in their place….I know they don’t think Hawaii fans are like them and appreciate your comments.
Thank you for the LLWS updates.
Garret I haven’t been able to register, can’t answer their contextual question…I wrote that Justin Willis wouldn’t be the starter so he isn’t a heisman candidate. LOL
Waipio 7, Wash 4 GO WAIPO!!!
I know what a shovel pass is, even tho I know barely anything of football terms.
Where is Shimizu’s for shaved ice? I like Waiola, near my Mom’s.

Yep, Stretch, that was me in the photo, all geeked out with my Tsaiko shirt and proudly representin’ !

oops….I hopr hubby is not lurking because we all know that he’s got GUNS!!!

Yup, ShimAzu’s is da bomb! IMO, bestest on the whole island because of the quality, quantity, and price. Even the mochi balls are like chi chi dango, not just mochi with no flavor. Waiola’s, I don’t how many times I get down into the cone zone and no mo syrup!
Waipio 9 Washington 4 Top of the 5th
H-bod – I just tasted my stomach acid! C’mon, back in the day the first crush was the “buy me drinkee” lady.
Hubby doesn’t lurk or else he would have drove gigi to the SSC last night. π
Hey, I see our Jason is growing up fast!
Iswearpoodleshavealarmclocks.
seeyouguyslater!
Posting this again. Anybody that would like to play fantasy football this year, I set up a league on yahoo for us tsaikos. We will have a live online draft on Sunday, August 24@ 5pm Hawaii/ 8pm Pacific (this coming Sunday). Would like a couple more people to sign up. So far it’s Me, Pauoa Boy, J, Homey, Jason, checkraze, and hawaiianbod. Gorg, if you haven’t gotten the invite let me know and I will send it again.
So if anymore people want to play email me at djmitcho at yahoo dot com. We can take up to 4 more people, but it must be an even number of people.
Tom Mui,
I sent the link to you via e-mail–hope I have your current e-mail address! It was on 7/22 in the one newspaper that I’m not supposed to link to here.
onarock,
School St. too far from where I stay when home…but the mochi balls sound good. If they bought them from Moilili Mochi who went out of business, too bad. Their chi chi dango was da bomb. Waiola doesn’t have mochi balls.
Gotta stop watching the keeds play ball & go pack some moah.
aw’ryte just 3 more outs before going to the US championship game. gooooooooo waipio nuff said
Ralph,
I just tried to correct some of the incorrect information there, especially stuff from the trolls. One example when someone said that Hawaii would not make a bowl game this year:
Another example:
waipio wins da hawaii keeds are in it whoooooootahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
way to go waipio.
Waipio’s in the championships!! π π π
Mei Ling,
There’s a second Waiola they opened on Kapahulu. Get mochi balls at dat one – no mo taste.
fine print: I am not related to ownership, nor am I a shareholder in Shimazu Store.
LOL.
Right on Waipio!!! Congrats!!
Man, those Hawaii boys sure know how to play and win. Another feather in Hawaiis cap. Great job, Waipio, only undefeated team left on the USA side, way to go.
Someone was really upset that the Junior QB at SMU (who started the previous 2 seasons) was passed over for a true freshman QB (former UH commit Bo Mitchell). He went on a long rant and said this that set me off:
So I said this. Interesting parallel between Rolo as a Junior getting replaced by true Freshman Chang and how Rolo stuck it out and had a great Senior season. Later on I realized I should change the wording from “figuring out the offense” to “having the light click”:
Only 10 more days till the SWAMP!
We almost in single digits in the countdown to kickoff. It’s almost time for the beads of sweat on forehead chicken-skin knot in stomach gotta make do-do feeling.
OOOOOOHHHWEEEEEE!
they made it to the USA finals. if they win that on sat, then they play the international finalist for the whole shabang.
Congratulations Waipio!
WA β P:!:O Hoohooo β

WHAO!!! I been out at meetings all day and just skimming the blog…

Have I been out of it that long? Shheeesssshhhhh….
Garret,
well put, even though it’s almost impossible to appease flamers, on any board.
Garret,
Thanks for backing June Jones for, IMO, the silent majority who knows and appreciates what JJ did for Hawaii football. Such is life, the complainers always seem to be the louder ones!
When do the UH rosters expand? Weren’t there some walk-ons rumored to be joining the Warriors?
Hozit, Wreck! Welcome back. Gotsta go now……..Laterz……..
Hey Onarock… Good to see you too…
How was gigi’s book? πΏ
who’s going to the pigskin pigout tomorrow?
J-Dog,
I think that rosters expand when school starts–I guess that would be Monday.
FloridaTed and onarock,
I don’t back everything JJ does and I respond to flamers from both the SMU and Hawaii sides. I do think that JJ is a lot better for SMU than their previous coach…the bar is set pretty low when that is the comparison! I think that Mack is the right fit to take UH to the next level of Hawaii recruiting and strength on D. With a few years of the type of recruiting UH is getting on D (Paipi and the rest of last year’s group and the commits already for 2009) and greater experience in Mac’s system, UH is going to be amazing on D…especially considering how well Mack did when he didn’t get to pick the recruits from last year’s team.
Earlier this week I had a lot of time because I was running some simulations that each take 15-30 minutes long…so I posted on this blog and some other places (I think I even posted on SH, which I normally just lurk on). When I have limited time I just post here and do my daily post of free play links on my blog. Sometimes I get so busy that I don’t post anywhere…but things are pretty calm now so I don’t have to stay offline.
J-Dog: Just like Garret said, the rosters can expand when school starts, which is Monday.
I found the SMU QB situation interesting, since it reminded me of the Chang-Rolo years. If Rolo hadn’t reacted the way he did when he was benched, with the character and determination he displayed, then he wouldn’t be the coach he is today. If he had transferred or pouted, he would not be a UH coach today…and I think he’ll be a great coach for the team!
And if Rolo had transferred or quit working hard, we would have missed out on his amazing stretch at UH in his final season…capping his career by demolishing BYU!
Garret, you have faster mouse than me but i’m learning and I have a lot more time!
bighilofan2 see post 139 and 155 regarding cooke field…aloha
Thanks Garret,
Should have known just to email you. Not spending time in Vegas. Driving in tomorrow night, dropping someone at the airport on Friday and heading back to California. It’s been a long week. Drove to Montana and driving back early tomorrow morning.
Jason,
Thank you for the confirmation! With school here starting on Monday I had worried that I was mixing up the start dates for school. Faith starts Kindergarten on Monday, which is a big deal in my house!
The sad thing is that the rosters will expand and those players will finally get to practice…but a few days later the team will leave for their road trip and those new players will be left behind.
Go, Rolo! His struggles as a young QB at UH were discussed in “Hawaii Warrior Football.” It took JJ’s near fatal car accident to wake him up. He promised God that if JJ survived, Rolo would turn his life around and become the kind of player everyone wanted him to be.
Great book!
Dennis Halloran,
Sometimes I have a lot of time to kill, sometimes my boss doesn’t give me any free time. It all depends on deadlines and how the design stuff is going. This week so far I had a lot of free time!
Hawaiianbod,
Gary Clark was my P.E. teacher and track coach, and Ray Higa (2 yards and a cloud of dust/3 and out) was varsity football coach. Aiea had a lot of defections in my year. Those defections wen transfer to Radford and brought them up a notch. A year later Radford won the Prep Bowl.
J,
Do you want me to look up a hotel in some city aside from Vegas? Let me know how many miles you want to be away from Vegas and in what direction.
King of Lur – Oh how I remember the Ray Higa years. My uncle, brother and cousins played for him. Those teams were HUGE, but how can you have a head coach who did not play the sport. In fact, my cousin(Mervin Wong) and his best friend (Gaylord Kuamoo – who later went on to USC) transferred to Radford.
Read somewhere that Army is going to run the Wishbone offense.
Hi Tsai-kos,
Just dropping in to say good evening before I head off to work. Fall Semester starts on Monday and the new roomie is moving in tomorrow so I’ll be up early to greet him.
Still awaiting my Oregon State tickets. Getting a little nervous since I still nevah get them yet. Just got to keep waiting, but hoping they’ll arrive in due time.
Hawaiianbod: Don’t forget that Delbert Tengan never played football, either.
Hi lab rat! Long time no post! I forget, are you a lab rat from UHS?
Gary Clark is a great guy. Haven’t seen him in years. He is a soft spoken guy, but a real student of coaching with a teacher style. Coaching was part time and he was a fireman.
jason,
charlie weiss didn’t either. and he’s an “offensive genius”? he didn’t look so “genius” last year, with his top ten recruits. hmmm…. gotta wonder why they bash JJ and the run and shoot.
we’ll see what sort of numbers we put up this year for yards, and if they still bash us for our “system” offense. i’m pretty sure the criticism will also follow JJ to SMU. why don’t they question texas tech?
Jason – good point! However, at least DT knew what he was doing. I really think that you would make an excellent coach because you know your Xs and Os.
Lou Holtz doesn’t look like he played either.
Congratulations WAIPIO!
200!
Manoa – not sure if it is same person because this GC was an educator. He now coaches on the Big Island. It may have been his brother, Chester. Very soft spoken and a super nice guy.
WAIPIO IN WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP GAME —
Saturday at 9 am
KITV
Yay, Waipio!
LITTLE LEAGUE not WS, sorry
You can say a lot about these kids on the West side.
Hi Homey!
I was in the 14, now I’m back to the 25!
What?! Stretch is NOT perfect. Who said?
Congrats to Waipio! See I miss everything…I forgot about the game and then my database was giving me trouble.
Aunty Gigi – actually, it’s the U.S. Championship Game.
bighilofan2,
Someone posted on SportsHawaii the protest letter you posted here, and another person did a nice analysis of that. Here is the post by Duster:
Rob, why were you 14 in the 1st place? what was its significance? haha
Hawaiianbod, isn’t it still the Little League World Series game? I am confused.
and then if Waipio wins the game on Saturday, it will proceed to the International game — is it on Monday?
Wow the weekend of the Florida game I am going to be busy.
Friday night – Wahine Volleyball
Saturday morning (at the butt crack of dawn) – Genji’s and FOOTBALL
Saturday evening – Wahine Volleyball
Sunday afternoon – Wahine Volleyball
It’s almost a perfect weekend! If both teams win out…it will definitely be perfect.
Has anybody been to Wahine practices? I wonder how the team is doing.
Congratulations to Rob De Mello and his wife!
Gigi – 25 refers to my zipcode…when I am at home…I work in the 14 zipcode.
Sandra Kellog wrote about it lately but i think what you wrote is much better.
Gotta go make pork watercress soup for dinner…BBL
good evening tsaiko country
hey homey howzit hanging?
what’s on tap tonight
Rob, if you were to blog at a game, would your number change?
wow, Koakane is rich. He bought an iPhone.
From that analysis it appears that the protest letter is not relying on the rule that Sadowski pushed that eliminated competition from people like Hamocon who don’t have that rare C-68FF license. I (and lots of other people who posted here and elsewhere) made that assumption, but I guess we were wrong. Instead, Sadowski is saying that Hamocon filled out the application wrong, listing Sports Turf Hawaii as a subcontractor for the bid when no such company exists and Sports Turf Hawaii, LLC does *not* have a contractor’s license.
So, it looks like Hamocon has the correct license needed for the contract, but he listed the wrong company name in the bid to UH. Protesting that the company named in the bid doesn’t actually exist is a valid point, and is very different than protesting that a company didn’t follow a made-up rule.
However, this is a pretty minor mistake…but it is a legally valid mistake to argue. I would say that Hamocon’s bid should win, but their mistake in filling out the application will force someone to rule on the matter, which could take time that UH doesn’t have since the field needs to be fixed right away!
Ainty Gigi – the winner of the U.S. Championship game then plays the International winner for the World Championship on Sunday.
shout out to rob25 and hubby
gigi waipio playing for US championship first if wins then will play an international team for world champs
Oh, great, we will watch it on Sunday, too.
Those Waipio kids must be so exhilirated right now. How can they possibly sleep tonight?
gigi
not rich like you I can’t afford to eat at fancy resturants, get new carpets and curtains. I still use brook and mop to clean house.
Koakane, don’t let my blog fool you. We are struggling like everybody else. No forget, hubby’s boss treats us to dinners out. Besides, that is our ONLY source of entertainment. We don’t go to the movies, opera, concerts, night clubs, etc., that much.
Not even to EIS like you!
If I had an iPhone, I’d be so afraid of dropping it or losing it. Those buggers are expensive. I think Wreck paid $400 for an iTouch so an iPhone must cost even more.
Stretch, Jason, (Jesse) James, WarriorMojo, homey β€: You guys are so silly! And, I don’t think Jason is a creep. Stop torturing him. LOL. Ok, I’m going to make my tea and watch my Korean drama now. Hey, do I look like high maintenance? Wait, don’t answer that. Where did you here that, homey?
Oh gosh… My excuse: I’m tired.
here = hear
And please, don’t give me a hard time about being a journalism major and making boo-boos like that. Believe it or not, my MOM was actually telling me about corrections that need to be made to my blog. Hey, I’m only human, right? And blogs don’t have editors. Ok, I’m done.
Garret the reason the protest does not question the “special license” is the fact that the lawyer is aware of the conflict of interest of the party she represents and in light of that, she had to come up with some other challenge….it’s as bad as complaining grammatical errors and non standard king’s English usage. Is he licenses? yes! and he completed Murakami stadium with the same license…Sadowski also lost that bid!
hey, Kelli —
Do you still have the large letter H showing on your hand? If not, how did you remove it?
I think it was silly of admin to stamp our hands. How many of us ventured out of the bldg anyway, since the restrooms were located inside.
lol i didn’t say anything! i don’t think you’re high maintenance anyway kelli.
Did anybody else see the Brian Clay Visa commercial with Morgan Freeman narrating. Thought it was pretty cool.
Just got back from Murphy’s since someone forgot to have lunch. Overheard Don saying that gator meat is part of tomorrow’s Pigout menu. π
Ralph,
The other Honolulu paper actually had to print a retraction because they said that Sadowski bid for the Murakami Stadium contract and was beaten out by Hamocon. Actually, Sadowski did *not* bid for the Murakami Stadium contract if their retraction was correct.
Jason-
Please check your church email account and get back to me.
Ope Howzit Gang…
IMHO – Coach Smith needs to stop tinkering with the dayum OLine and set it in stone like yesterday. Playing musical linemen a week before the season opener against Florida is asking to get killed. Need consistency throughout the Oline working together knowing there assignments, tendencies, strengths, weaknesses, so they can solidify and become dominant. Right now I’m concerned with the Oline and Brent Rausch, not getting good vibes yet, hope they come around quick!
PONO:

I think that Funaki should give up football and go for stand up comedy. His quotes are hilarious. Watch out Frankie D.
Brah, I hope this was a joke…cause them is fighting words!
Garret, LizKauai – Mahalos for the news on Colt and Davone, always can trust you two to bring the goods as I’m usually to lazy to go surf the net for info.
Good Evening Tsaikos!!
Too bad the team will be having a closed practice again at the Stadium tomorrow. I guess it’s another productive day at work!!
Looking forward to the Pigskin Pigout tomorrow evening. If anyone is going, Koakane (who is off the wagon) will be warming up across the street at O’Tooles prior to the 530pm start.

Jason asked Kelli out on her blog??? When did this happen??? Oh snap, our little boy is growing upβ¦.MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Realleh, suckin Jason you stud sorry ah McLovin, teach me how buleh… j/k Nah, just making trouble my bruddah. Kelli is a hearthrob, those kind girls dangerous though haha. What is it with you and the Tsai-kette hotties though, always get some story floating around ah? Kay I guess it’s time to take notes…so teach me stud!
Kelli, so did you say yes haha…nah, nah kay I’ll stop making trouble. Howzit by the way, did you get enough football kaknowledge from Coach Heather???
gigi-hawaii Β©: It’s pretty much faded away. Ok, I ran into the bathroom and checked just for you. I used liquid Ivory soap in a dispenser. And the lady stamped my hand GOOD… I was wearing white and I got paranoid because I could tell it wasn’t dry, so I was dabbing it with a tissue before the clinic started. And good thing I did that because there was a lot of ink.
gibu: Yeah, you better not say anything. But, thank you for saying I’m not high maintenance. π
Pauoa Boy: A dangerous heart throb, huh? Hahaha! You’re all hilarious. IMHO, I find the K-drama actors to be dangerous heart throbs. And then there’s the crazy middle-aged women that are just dangerous. Don’t be getting in their way when a Korean celeb is around.
Pauoa Boy: Oh yeah, I learned a lot. Maybe a little too much because I had to redo part of my blog post about it.
Kelli, every time I watch a K drama, I end up sobbing. And they are so addictive. Now, I don’t watch it.
Kelli – You telling me, I’ve experienced that first hand when I was in Korea…talk about Grazy with a capital G! Anyway, saw you and homey talking about Yogurtland and frikk I’m having cravings like a pregnant chick. π
Stretch, well, if you can’t watch practice tomorrow, there’s always golf.
Yeah I saw your blog, do you and ST have the same camera or what? No worries there’s never too much knowledge to be gained espestchawlee with football. At least when we see you women at the game we can all talk football chit lol.
Howzit PB! How’s the back? Hope it’s getting better. The wahine still doing the lomilomi?
Kelli = #246
gigi-hawaii Β©: OMG! I cannot stop watching them! I love the stories! They’re so sweet. Then again there’s my pessimistic friend telling me that they’re so unreal and they give girls a false sense of hope, love and whatever else. But, the dramas are the best! And you can’t watch them without getting sucked into the music. I usually stop when school starts, but I catch up on weekends and breaks.
Pauoa Boy: You were in Korea? Oh, now I’m jealous. I have yet to go there. I need to take one of those K-drama tours to the filming locations. Yogurtland is the best! I love it!
Kelli, my fave K drama was “Winter Sonata.”
BTW, Korean movie stars have gorgeous skin. So how come I have freckles? lol
that’s a great idea BUT I don’t want to go to Murphy’s all stink.
gibu – what’s the juicy 411? We’re all family here.
Ope howzit Hawaiianbod…yups the back doing good. I get the lomilomi’s twice a week but feel good enough now, no need, but I think they like me go for cop feels haha. Plus the chicks that do the massage lil bit too touchy sometimes…makes me wonder if it’s part of the routine or not??? Nah, but the back getting cherry, still tight every once in a while but I been cleared to lift light weights and yoga type excercises. If I was playing football, I’d say I’d be playing in the Swamp next week π
What, Stretch? You mean you don’t have an executive shower stall at work?
One of these days, I’ll check out Murphy’s Pigskin Party. Always wondered what it was like to eat and drink til full and participate in the auction.
Aunty Gigi – you’re still beautiful! Freckles are gifts from God.
gigi – no shower stalls for me but I can use the garden hose outside in the parking lot. The shower in the bathroom are only for the important people.
Kelli – Yups been to Korea many times actually…both South and North at the DMZ…got to cross over the line. Been to Seoul, Osan, Pusan, all the other sans over there too. Actually been there enough times to say I’ve lived in Korea for close to a year. Yeah thanks for getting me hooked on Yogurtland, making me have dreams of sticking my head under the machine and pulling the lever all night tasting all the flavors…haha
what’s wrong with tomorrow night??
Haha. Somebody mean told me freckles are the deposits that flies make on your face. eww
haha theres nothing bad to say hawaiianbod. even if there was something, kelli would just tell her bff and both of them would gang up and strangle me :-X
LMAO @ gigi-hawaii didn’t know flies could chit??? haha
Can’t make the party tomorrow night, cause $200 for hubby and me would break our budget. We are not rich, though Koakane would dispute that.
PB – AU’RYTE! No shame – you know you gotta spread a little A-L-O-H-A.
.
gibu – howzit, so it’s true Kelli realleh is dangerous then…hmm???
Does anyone know who will be added to the roster when it can be expanded the first day of school??
Hawaiianbod – Haha, nah some of these chicks isn’t too appealing to the eye but get one Brazilian one das winnaz so I always try make my appointments when she stay working. I think so she catching on though but oh wells anything to make my back feel better I say haha. If only UH808fan was here, I’d definitely take her massage offer…
PB, you should have your wife walk on your back.
When I was a student in New York, my neighbor asked me to walk on his back.
Thought that was too weird so I said no.
gibu – LOL. If you’re not doing anything on the 30th, you should come check out the Tsaikos at Genjis and cheer on the Warriors. No shame – you;re a Tsaiko, too.
Isn’t Quentin Beaver and Mario Cox being added??? I dunno trying to think of who was at Spring Ball…
PB – I don’t think Mario Cox will be on the team
gigi-hawaii Β©: My favorites, include Full House, My Girl, The Palace, The Palace S, Tree of Heaven and Save the Last Dance for Me. I don’t know how Koreans get skin like that. I know in some dramas you can see their blemishes, so not everyone is perfect. They probably have good facials, cleansers and a healthy diet.
Pauoa Boy: Sheesh, all I want is a trip to Seoul. I heard the Incheon airport is really something. I gotta see that for my own eyes. Maybe I can catch a Rain concert if he ever goes back to singing. I was so disappointed when he canceled the Hawaii concert.
gibu: How smart of you to avoid attacks by my bff and I.
gigi-hawaii – It’s not wierd if you trying to help a brotha out, it’s only wierd if you make it out that way. We all fam so it’s all good. Don’t get any ideas now…
PB – no chit! π
Are you ready for the FF Draft on Sunday? I don’t evev know what i’m doing.
Stretch – Yeah I think Mario Cox is in the Graunke boat…too many chances, need to cut losses. Trying to think who was at Spring Ball trying to find my spring roster…
Kelli – Seoul is nice, but Korea as a whole wasn’t really impressed too much. Osan is good for shopping but the other places are kind of dirty and a little 3rd world looking. It’s a great place to visit though but I wouldn’t want to live there.
Hawaiianbod – For sure I have like six Fantasy Football teams right now, since all my friends wanted to make leagues too. Good thing is if I win each league that would be a total pot of about $700-$800 dollars. Wish the football season would start already…
My favorite K-Drama is “All About Eve”.
Kay gotta go comatose now…catch you guys manyanaz…zzzzz…
Seoul is smoggy and the traffic is bumper to bumper.
Hotel Lotto-Downtown was superb, though.
Mojo, do you still watch K dramas?
thanks hawaiianbod but i had plans already for the florida game. mayb next time.
anyone know how nate nasca has been doing last couple practices? i knew him from high school. pchs c/o 04!
gigi,
a couple EIS is only a fraction of what your dinner cost. farthest I travel is to manoa and kapolei. You were in japan recently? so like stretch says you can make it if you wanted to.
my iphone was no where near $400 just half that.
Some can others no like.
ESPN replaying waipio be Washington now
Gigi,
The industrial-strength ink UH “H” stamp stuck on one’s hand for days on end is a sign…
A SIGN THAT THE FALL UH SPORTS SEASON IS UPON US!!!!
Peaches was very tired after work yesterday and almost didn’t go to the Wahine Football Clinic. I offered to drive her and pick her up after I search for where Stretch, BG, James, chawan-cut might be waiting patiently… π
She arrived a little late. But once inside, a chance encounter with Mrs. MacMackin got her autograph on a booklet. gigi and Betty may have got one too. She didn’t eat dinner so came straight home rather than wait in the refreshment lines. But she said it was a very good event.
I’ve gotta go to Korea someday, meet my family from that side. I’ve never been to Japan, too. I’d like to go to both some day.
addahknowjoe: Sorry for the late reply, I had to go to church and check the measurements.
Gibu,
Nate Nasca has been getting more and more reps at one of the wideout spots.
oops be should be vs
Typical mainland-ish arrogance mixed in with ignorance.
Nasca has looked okay at the Z. They haven’t really run many plays for him in practice where he can get in the open field, so I can’t say he’s done anything spectacular. But he’s had a few catches, and he hasn’t done anything that I’d mark as a negative. It looks like the coaches are easing his way into the rotation. I have big hopes for him, cause he has some serious speed. I’m picturing Nasca as a Justin Colbert clone. π
gibu: So you were C/O 2004 too? Ah, so one year older than me. Cool, we need young people here too, to set these old folks in their place. π
awesome thanks kazz. was hoping he would make the team in the spring.
Jason and Gibu,
All you C/O 2004ers and 2005ers are making us C/O 2000ers feel “old” too!!!
JASON: Thanks for the attempt but Garret got me the cite.
Koakane, your iPhone cost just $200????
How did you get it so cheap?
jason: yah too bad hes a senior. when i saw him once last semester at aja i was wondering if he would try out for the football team.
Gibu,
Nate had some good catches at the Warrior Bowl but unfortunately he met Mr. Jameel Dowling one on one if you know what I mean. However, Nasca was able to hold on to the ball following those solid hits.
So, I see you are another PCHS grad on this blog. I graduated in 2000 (aka “the last cool class: π ).
Ah, 2000. The year my daughters graduated from Radford and from UH.
Pauoa Boy: Osan… Gotta remember that. ONE DAY I’m getting there.
WarriorMojo: That’s my mom’s favorite drama, too.
gigi-hawaii Β©: Nuts, they always make it look so nice in the dramas.
Jason: You should definitely go to both. I’ve been to Japan, but never to where my great-grandparents are from. I need to travel to Okinawa and some other parts of Japan (not Tokyo). I don’t think we have family there anymore. Probably just distant relatives.
Howzit Tsaikos
somebody tell Logan Hamocon and Darolyn Lendio to check out today’s posts #207, 155, 139 and yesterday’s posts, in the 480s and up.

My maternal grandfather came from Pyongyang, North Korea. He used to get the NKorean newspaper every week even though USA had no relations with NK. I guess the publisher mailed the newspaper to a neutral country and it was forwarded to Hawaii.
Funny moment of the day was when the D-Line decided to spend some time heckling Video Coordinator Ryan Biesemeyer who had his shirt off while on the crane overlooking the field.
If you can imagine the “Sexy Maaaannn” dance/song that “Fat Bastard” from the Austin Powers Movies then that was exactly what they were using to taunt him with.
Well.. I guess you had to be there for it to be funny.
how do you play beach volleyball in the rain???
lol nah ur still young kazz. 00 isnt that far away. wat school did you grad?
Miami’s coach was asked about the Reagan vs. Grigsby battle. If they are going to cut Reagan I hope that they do it as early as possible.
This reporter thinks that BOTH Reagan and Grigsby could be cut since Miami might just keep an extra TE.
Update on Bess.
gigi,
The new iPhone costs $199 retail price.
Haha, I forgot about Ryan on the crane. That was funny. π

Whatever Verne Oda said last 7/22 in the odda paper about the conflict of interest situation, and what Hamocon didn’t need when he asked 2x, and with Joe Kindrich and Sadowski and da odda fren on da board, its clear there is now a conflict of interest, definitely an appearance of impropriety in any of them having any say in anything that would have any effect on the ongoing Sadowski controversy and the Ching Cooke Field fix.
Sadowski should resign from the Contractor’s Board, and Joe Kindrich should disqualify himself from participating in Friday’s meeting on the subject of synethetic field turf licensing.
To me, both men lost credibility when Sadowski filed his challenge. Duster’s comments in post 207 by Garrett is a great refresher on the history of Sadowski using his position and frienships for self aggrandizement, and Hamocon trying to follow the rules as told to him by the Executive Officer for the Contractor’s Board.
No sense just cooking Sadowski’s beans.. Grind em up…..
For chawan_cut: Lori found this cute Lego version of the Olympics!
gigi,
I’ve never actually had to pay for a cell phone yet, but I might have to break down and get a Blackberry soon due to work. I was just clarifying things because you seemed to think that an iPhone cost $400 when Koakane paid $199.
Gibu,
PCHS c/o 2000.
After three decathlon events, Island boy Bryan Clay is in the lead with 2,862 points, 155 points ahead of his nearest challenger, Oleksiy Kasyanov of Ukraine, who has 2,717.
Go! Go! Geev ‘um! Bryan!
I Mua!
We got an interesting call from the Principal of the school that Faith will be starting Kindergarten at. The Principal said that Faith is apparently *really* ready for Kindergarten–she probably got a report from the teachers because Faith went to 4 weeks of pre-K camp at the school.
So, instead of putting Faith in regular Kindergarten, they are putting her in a class that is half Kindergarteners and half First graders…I’ve never heard of such a class before! Faith probably got picked because she can read, write lots of words and even letters (I trained her on thank you letters and weekly postcards to her grandparents), do math, puzzles, and even sudoku.
The really cool thing about the class is that they apparently assign really good teachers to it and the teacher/student ratio is 1 to 8! Faith will be happy when she starts next week. She has been looking forward to Kindergarten for a long time…she wants to go to the school for bigger kids. She absolutely loves that playground–she taught herself the monkey bars and actually did it over and over until she got blisters on both hands!
I’ve gotten some interesting e-mails tonight. All I can say is that the Tsaikos have some really smart people working on trying to help with the Cooke Field situation. They know this stuff far better than me and I’m glad they are on UH’s side!
awesome. i knew quite a few that grad c/o 2001. maybe you know some of them?
anybody home?
Right back at you Koakane. I’m very proud of your restraint and determination.
Gigi – of course it would change if we weren’t playing in the area that I live. What is the zipcode for Halawa…not that I will be blogging since I go to all games.
The first home game that I will have missed for the last nine years will be the Nevada game. I think that it will be worth it because I will be going to Austin TX to see Frank before they ship out to Kuwait and then Iraq.
Hmmm, then I could make the Dallas/Tampa Bay game, but it would be no fun to go alone and I need to get back home.
I’m bringing three lurkers to Genji’s. They want to join us; used to tailgate with us, but decided it was easier to watch at home…guess you get that way at a certain age. (No offense to any senior fans that still attend.)
Well, gotta go watch volleyball…can’t take these late hours.
Nitey nite…see you on the other side.
hmmmm.

Hiya!
Wow- took me a long time to read all the posts. Good blogging!
I’ve been looking for a way to see the Saturday Skins game live but o luck so far. It will be on the NFL Network on Sunday.
We can HEAR the game live on Redskins Radio:

Hi Liz!
Congrats to Waipio, Bryan Clay, women’s vb team! Keep it up and represent!
Any news about when Colt’s gonna play on Sat?
hey stevem how did u know i was in san jose?
Am I the only one that noticed that the commentators dont talk much about UH when the women’s Vball team are playing even with all three wahine playing at the same time?! All they talk about is Stanford. Granted Logan Tom is hot but come on….
lakerj32…yeah, that’s sad they don’t give more props to UH W V-Ball…but c’mon…Logan Tom IS hot…
Yeah!!! Kim scores the final 3 points for the USA win!!!
The alledged perp or, possible suspect, *jm2375* sneaks in to the playhouse again and none of the alarms went off!…I’m thinking maybe Esme comes along and deactivates the alarms and then sneaks off leaving the playhouse wide open.
Homey, this is your department now. Time to install video security cameras and activate your trained killer Poodles when the cameras start rolling!
good night everybody. time to hit the hay.
Aloha, Tsaikos.
Another posting from scouting Gator land. Click on my name to read a thread on the GatorCountry Swampgas forum described as “A little about this years Hawaii team” Shows some limited knowledge of what is coming towards them, and includes some who feel that we will provide a good early test for them. Most expect that Hawaii will neither challenge their defense or be able to contain their offense.
Typical is one comment:
“I expect Hawaii to attack us offensively a lot like Florida Atlantic or Troy did, with a lot of high percentage, safe, short passes. They’ll try us long a couple of times early to see if they can steal the big play quick and get some momentum, but if they don’t get that, it’s going to be a long day for the Warriors.”
Who me? NOT! Was my kid posing as me! π
jm2375- not sure where Colt is playing yet… but he did work out with the first team a little and that is a GOOD sign!
I did see where Coach Zorn was thinking of keeping the first team rotation in for a little longer this time.
k- I just updated my blog and gotta catch some sleep!
Nitey nite and sweet dreams, ka kou!
$5 says Colt moves up to 2nd string by mid season…if not sooner.
Here’s a post from the Swamp of interest to the Tsaikos going to the Florida game who are trying to figure out what to wear to the game. It reports that Coach Urban Meyer has joined with an anti-skin cancer campaign to ask all the fans to wear white to the Aug. 30 game!! A link to a University of Florida web site in the posting indicates that the first 10,000 fans to the event will get free white hats (Click on my name to access the link)
The original poster thinks that a stadium full of fans in white “could really intimidate UH’s team–and especially their new starting QB who has only played in front of 9,000 people before…”
LOL!!
As one of the responders notes several posts into the threads, Hawaii will be wearing white for the game.
And as a campaign against skin cancer from sun exposure, this is a really stupid idea. White t-shirts provide the least amount of protection against sun burn. The experts always advise wearing a dark colored shirt to block the sun, so there are likely to be a lot of burnt Florida fans at the end of this game.
I had the pleasure of being treated to the Discover Maui in 4 hours by Limo” experience. Big Mahalo to Duffer & Whitey for hosting the Maui Muu Call today at the “Watercress Sports Bar & Grill.”
Here is an iphone photo of what we feasted on because I forgot my regular camera:
First up ~ “Korean style Rosted Pork”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The main dish ~ “Korean style Pig’s ear surrounded by Korean style Blood Sausage was served next, as captured by my Koream Style iphone camera.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We also had several varieties of Kim Chee, and Butterfish, Kim Chee.
“The Watercress Sports Bar & Grill” is a very well designed Sports Venue with lots of Plasma big screens surrounding the main floor. The service is excellent, but I had to deduct Olympic ‘Style’ points from the mixologist. He is not as handsome or as well-versed at his craft as Bulla.
Yeah, I know…”Kim Chee, and Butterfish, Kim Chee” my brain is operating on pure Kim Chee right now!
G’nite all!
pig’s ear and blood sausage….speaking of eating every bit of miss piggy..I’m in for kalua pig and lomi salmon or at least the roast pork, no wonder we have extra large tsaikos- eat everything is site, I though only locust did that….
This thread complains that WARRIOR FANS are AS BAD AS DAWGS.
Largartos says “They are trash talking Gators and Tebow. (Warrior Message Boards) These folks must be in-bred relatives of those folks from Athens” but he doesn’t provide any links to what boards he is talking about, and the following responders report that they can’t find any trash talking going on. Weirdly, the thread ends with a “Hawaii” fan named Rangertrechin posting:
“I don’t know which Board you are going to but most of us Warrior Fans are classy but we have our share of smack talkers.
Sportshawaii.com
is a great site for anything concerning Warrior football.
Look forward to getting “lickins” (= our but kicked in pigeon english) from you guys in ten days.
My prediction 49 -17 Florida Wins
Im realistic
Aloha”

I guess insomnia is a good thing sometimes. This late night lurk gave me a few laughs. Thanks!!! Oh, asking Kelli out, however it was tried, just shows you have good taste. Like her writing. As for looks, I don’t notice such superficial things, but it’s safe to say it’s O-ficial that her looks are super.
Oh, sorry I haven’t visited in a while. Seems as though I’m really missing out.
Take care everyone!!!
Kelli, gigi, WaMo talking about K-dramas!!??
Don’t get me started… or watchout for A-House, he’ll start with Jumong and his long sword!!! Lot’s of good ones but my favorite is “All In.”
Pauoa Boy, I live in Seoul. Been since 12-2004 and lovin’ it.
may i add that it was a roasted pig feet!’
howzit, kekoa. i see you got to visit the watercress sports bar, eh
did you ask the owner why that name? i forgot to ask myself.
Oh, by the way, Kelli I really do like your blog too. I must applaud you: hear here!
Gotta love the English language with all its identical sounding words (I think their’s a word for that). I’ve done it to many times myself two be critical of ewe. Wear does anyone get the nerve to think there above such common errors. I guest its important to no that the reel challenge is getting the message across. I don’t think anyone’s reputation is at steak with such a simple mistake.
It’s a little late now, but I should have told Kelli about the K-Drama club in the library. They even took a trip to Korea to meet some of their favorites.
I am going to have to check out these Korean dramas one day. Been hearing about them for years now. They should put the reruns on late at night instead of these infomercials.
Something’s in the Jamaican water that makes their athletes run so fast.
ST: who looks like the favorite(s) at Kick returner & Punt returner?
Al – The menu sez pig feet…it was in fact the ‘short shank’ A rather large part at that!
We also witnessed the arrival of 4 young ladies from the “dark” side who are quite familiar with a certain young Tsaiko.
Perhaps you’ve met them before Al…(?))
Garret if your thinking about a Blackberry, check out AT&T, I had to get a new phone the other day and noticed that they had the top of the line for $129.00 after the rebate, although it was with a two year contract also, but still 129 is not a bad price.

Before people in Hawaii begin to wake up, I wanted to ask if anyone else has IPTV from Hawaii, or is considering it for the games. I am. I think I saw somebody mention the lack of programming before so this deal should help with that.
