Aaron Brown signs contract
Former UH linebacker Aaron Brown today signed a four-year contract with the St. Louis Rams.
The Rams selected Brown in the seventh round of ย April’s NFL draft.
“We finally got it done,” said Brown, who will receive an undisclosed signing bonus.
Brown will earn a minimum of $2.01 million in base salary over the life of the contract, according to the NFL pay formula โ $390,000 for a rookie in 2012, $465,000 the second year, $540,000 the third year, and $615,000 the fourth year.
He said the contract gives him more “obligation to perform and show them what I’ve got.”
Brown said he will return to Hawaii this month to train before the start of the Rams’ training camp on July 24.

Yesterday was the final day of the evaluation period in which coaches could visit high schools to meet with a prospect’s coaches, counselors and teachers.
The Warriors have made contact with every high school football program in the state. Yesterday, they visited Saint Louis School for the second time.
The recruiting process is year round, but to mark the end of this period, head coach Norm Chow took his assistant coaches to eat sushi last night.
The Warriors also have been thorough in their mainland recruiting. Jon Nielsen, a friend of the program, noted the Warriors made an offer to Gahr High safety Patrick Enewally (6-1, 191) yesterday. Nielsen is Gahr’s offensive coordinator.
Here’s the video: Patrick Enewally.
Is it football season yet?
Hope all the hard work recruiting pays off come LOI day!
Go warriors!
Howzit everybody!
top 5. good morning!
Good morning to all.
Morning! Where does Coach like to get sushi? That’s my burning question ๐
ST,
How do think the offense in general is gonna do this year Knowing that the OLine is fresh and a new offensive scheme will be in place?
Top ten baby
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Glad to see Coach Chow is roaming the local schools!
Top Ten? Haven’t done that in a while.
Wow, nice highlights of Patrick Enewally! Hope he decides to become a Warrior!
What happened with Darnel A. of St. Louis School. I heard he quit.
hmmm. I would have preferred dinner at Romano’s Macaroni Grill, my favorite place for Italian cuisine.
Top Twenty…
ST, thanks for the video of Patrick Enewally.
He looks like a kind of katoooooooosh hitter.
yes, please tell us where coach goes for sushi. this is important to me, for some reason…
Congrats to Aaron Brown. Stay away from St. Louis bars…
Yay! Top 20
If I was coach Chow, for sushi, I would choose…____________.
Well, hope the wife won’t be too disappointed. Told her the tickets I saw for tomorrow’s Georgia Force game were about ten bucks. The seats I want are $40 + another $7.50 for fees. At least I’m not looking at those $100 seats right in back of the team. There are actually a few still available! With the bills due between now and mid-month, I hope she doesn’t steer me towards those $10 seats! The site says I can take pictures with a camera that doesn’t have removable lenses, but I can’t video any portions of the game. We’ll see how things go… gotta get to the game first.
Congrats to Aaron Brown.
Enjoyed the Enewally video. He graduates next year. He’s quite the interceptor, isn’t he.
Aaron:
Kats Sushi.
Kozo Sushi outside of AlaMoana Walmart has a terrific sushi tempura set for
only about 7 bucks. Fish is thinly sliced but overall a tasty delight.
#19 Wes’side Warrior: “The site says I can take pictures with a camera that doesn’t have removable lenses, but I can’t video any portions of the game”
Nowdays, with a lot of “high-class” point-and-shoot cameras with the zoom lens’ having capability to take HD movies, it may be a bit hard to enforce.
Ahh, thanks for the info… i’m a little disappointed it wasn’t some “hidden gem” sushi place or somewhere baller like Mitch’s or Sasabune, but Kats is good value…
now watch everyone heading to Kat’s Sushi this weekend!
Congrats to Aaron Brown. $2.01 million is nothing to sneeze at! Lol
ST & Tsaiko Blog Dogs:
Good deal for Aaron. If he can live on $100K/yr that equates to almost a 20 yr career. Of course, his agent is going to take some off the top. Banking the extra dough for retirement is worth it.
If he’s good enough, he can renegotiate his contract after three years.
If you are an NFL or NBA player, does it make sense to buy your home, instead of renting it?
Take AC Carter, for instance. He’s been changing teams quite a bit lately. Shouldn’t he rent instead of buying a place?
Other NBA players come to mind.
In three years there may be no banks…
Gratz to AB!
That video on Patrick Enewally is a fun one. Loves to hit, got good size, good speed, sniffs out and closes on the ball… hope his future includes wearing this “H” on game days!
from a very reliable source, it seems Corey Paredes made the team and was assigned #47 – go Corey!!!!!!!!!
It’s always good to buy your own home. But I wouldn’t over-do it on the amenities. A stripper pole in the living room 1) hurts the re-sale value, 2) blocks the TV. It would be like living in Fenway Park.
Good morning ST, auuu…positive today, lol.
Congrats to AB!
#8 tommui, agree….making a huge difference.
Then there’s Mike Shanahan, who was in the midst of building a house in Colorado when he was fired.
Pikachu and Raichu were just fighting… just had a bunch of thunder and lightning rumble through the area, along with some heavy rain. Well, that’s what my kids always say. Either that, or Team Rocket is getting zapped again. And just like that, it’s all clear again!
A-House: that’s very good news! Go Corey!
Stripper pole in the living room: GOOD EXERCISE!!!
A-House… definitely good news on Corey too!
Gigi… huh? Good exercise for WHOM (the pole technician, or the observer)? hahaha!
is that contract guaranteed?
Bob Wagner wanted to renovate his Hawaii Kai home. He asked about his job security. After receiving what he viewed as a hopeful report, he did the renovations. And after that, he was fired.
Football is a tough business with no guarantees.
But, yeah, it’s always better to buy.
The one thing I always caution is buying a burial plot. It’s like a lifetime gym membership. After a while, the plots all fill up, and there’s no new money coming in. No revenue, no money for maintenance. And then years down the road, somebody wants to build a rail there, so the property gets condemned. And that’s how my remains will end up somewhere else in 200 years.
But I digress.
WW: hey, I could never do pole exercises. Hard work.
Only NFL signing bonuses are guaranteed.
Thanks, Gigi, for an image that is now branded into my brain.
ST: good point. My dad bought 2 plots in Hawaiian Memorial Park for each child. The 5th child got cash instead (don’t know why).
So far, David and I have used 1 of our 2 plots. (for his sister) The other one is for him and me (one plot can hold 2 coffins or 4 urns).
That’s true, though. Lots of muscles used in many things that don’t LOOK too difficult. I’ve been trying to vary my workouts, and some of them don’t look tough, until I actually get into it. Then I realize how out of shape I truly am. Not in the Army anymore, that’s for sure!
Mr. A-House is in great shape. I think he knows that, too, which is why he wears John Stockton’s shorts when he runs.
Let’s see, Aaron Brown, Corey Paredes, Zach Masch, Vaughn Meatoga, Liko Satele, Kaniela Tuipulotu, Richard Torres, Mike Edwards.
There was a lot of talent last year.
What the heck happened?
A-House reminds me of a doctor who ran from his Hawaii Kai home to work in town and back EVERY DAY.
His body was really lean.
If you are talented, you end up a pro.
Then when you retire, you gain weight.
And then, like Dan Marino and Charles Barkeley, get contracts touting weight loss plans.
I give money,I buy tickets and apparel and the UH athletic department treats me like I’m dirt.I really need to change some of my priorities in life.
ST #49 . . . I’m gonna take heat for this one, but I believe the answer to your question is . . .
coaching?
Well, it’s been about three-and-a-half weeks, and I seem to have plateaued at 18 lbs. lost so far. I must admit that I had a slice of pizza with the kids last night, and had some ramen two nights ago. Was trying to not consume any starches after 3pm daily, but lost myself the past couple of days. Gonna try to burn off two more pounds before my first month is up.
Happy with my results so far, though. Will continue on my path for as long as possible. At least my eating habits have changed for the better. Easy to maintain, since I still eat REAL food.
Missed opportunities and an overabundance of injuries didn’t help either. That debacle in the desert shouldn’t have happened. Wonder what our mindset might’ve been, had we rolled through that game as expected?
Ok, I think the kids need to use this here machine… back later.
I was gonna use Arnold’s “I’ll be back”, since I use some of his workout regimen. But then I’d be reminded of just how far out of shape I am, and end up just staring at these weights and taking a nap, instead of actually using them!
Apparently these are Phil Steele’s predicted standings for this year…
1. Boise State
2. Nevada
3. Fresno State
4. Air Force
T5. San Diego State
T5. Wyoming
7. Colorado State
8. Hawaii
9. UNLV
10. New Mexico
Congrats to A Brown!
ST- when do we start filming from your phone?
Lets get your show rolling!! We’ll worry about the details later…
Made the team? Or invited back to training camp. Invited back to training camp is definitely a positive. That also means that he can participate in OTA’s?
Good morning Tsaikos! Happy Friday!
Congrats to Aaron Brown! Hope to see him on the field next season.
#49
Too many injuries!
its been awhile since we went to kat’s sushi.
all you can eat for under $25 pp and byob.
no can go wrong.
a real tsaiko kind of place.
oh, and the beef curry is ono, too.
first, bedding positions and now poles.
what has this blog become of late?
is there a subliminal message that someone is missing some action in said person’s life?
ST… you forgot to include .. Royce Pollard in that group. … and isn’t Moniz still playing somewhere..
surely moniz’ injury was huge or “huge-est”. oline injuries knocked some guys down. however, a well planned program should be able to have secured enough able bodies to replace at least the first line.
for example, inspite of similar casualties the university of utah still went on to success last year. their offense was hit severely and yet they were able to craft a workable game plan.
i could go on…but for now.
…nuff said
Good morning everyone!
Congrats to Aaron Brown!
can you imagine if liko satele catches on and becomes an nfl’er for years to come.
MIH… we’re planning on seeing Moniz and Torres at the Arena at Gwinnett tomorrow night, in their (Georgia Force) game against the Voodoo of New Orleans.
UH had engine problem in the 2nd half last season.
When I grow up I wanna be in shape like Mr. A-House!
This is spam, but we’re not deleting it because it will mess up the order.
To the Star-Advertiser and The Warrior Beat blog super techie and Giver of iPhones…
Happy Birthday Scott M. !!!
Al: your mind takes a negative spin on things. For the record, ST started it with his link to an article about the USC stadium.
Wasn’t it Shakespeare who said: “Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so”?
gg…you know i am just playing around.
sorry if you were offended.
Happy Birthday Scott M!
Al: okay. Apology accepted.
awww gigi, I like poles.
Some don’t.
But don’t say anything about the trapeze. ๐
SteveM: I almost thought you were referring to Poles (Polish). haha
I guess that’s why the double pump at Kalaepohaku yesterday.

Looks like daughter is finally moving to the mainland.
She is taking her car to the dock to be shipped to San Diego.
Then she will drive my car to work.
I hope she does come back home for Christmas.
former UH linebacker matt wright has been named the new St. Louis head football coach.
i wonder what led to darnell’s resignation. if he’s out, that probably means his younger bro is as well. too bad bc he just got married this year.
Cheepono: I wondered about the same thing. After all, doesn’t St Louis pay better than public schools?
#’s 83/84….did he buy a house???
I like to see former Warriors as hc at Hawaii high schools.
kifi:
Corey was awarded #47 at OTAs!
hmmmmm, someone or more than someone is spreading false rumors about my “physice” and being in shape – how wrong can they be
50 years ago, I was a STUD – my six-pak was rippling with NO extra “fat” – guns were ablazing and I could run the 50 yd dash, barefoot or with sneakers, in 6 seconds flat.
my, how 50 years have taken their toll, but still in good physical shape – at least that what the “doc” says at my annual physicals.
now, to go home and rest this weary old body!!
Good morning folks (almost afternoon)! Welcome back D1…hope #2 son doing guud after graduation.
A-House: you are too modest.
Mahalo jmxxxx and BG.
#2 son is guud. Mrs. d1shima is really happy! ๐
#5. Not sure where Coach Chow likes to eat sushi, but I did see him at Giovanni Shrimp Truck on Mother’s Day ๐
UH offers LHB LAWRENCE FENUMIAI DT/DE, 6-4, 295 lbs.
(Riverside CC – Riverside, CA)
(Offered Scholarship)
Thanks to Sportsbow.

Comment on last year…players playing out of position….players playing way too hurt….scheme….a little form of complacency….very predictable….missing Big Play guys….combo of a lot of things….
If Hawaii has a vote as to whether Boise State is allowed membership into the Big West, I hope Donovan votes NO!!! There is NOTHING beneficial to Hawaii in letting Boise into the Big West.
Yay for Brown!
Just say no.
Just say no.
100!
What happened . . . again.
Weird.
Sure is warm and humid.
Mid 60’s with humidity in the upper 60’s.
Nearly uncomfortable.
Looks like the coaching staff will remain in place. Leo Goeas said he’s still going to coach the o-line.
I think membership votes are at the presidential level.
Sure would like to know what the heck is happening at St. Louis!! Several mos. ago they had an article on Ar cenaux which was quite positive and now with his resignation……as Shakespeare said “something is rotten in the state of denmark.” Can anybody elaborate to the situation at St. Louis??? i mean….John Hao….Sam Papalii…Arcenaux…now Wright within a period of what…5 yrs……something is not right……
Strange times.
Prom is tomorrow. Girls are reminding boys to bring condoms.
Must be boy heaven or something.
am waiting for Robert Kekaula to come up with the info re problems at St Louis.
Had to call 911 the other week after witnessing a vehicle accident.
1st time I got a busy signal.
2nd time I got a recording.
3rd time I got a busy signal.
What the heck.
I’m guessing the departure will be described as being based on “personal reasons.”
There are a lot of interpretations for that.
AL #75 Honi soit qui mal y pense – you may have loused up your chance to be knighted in the Order of the Garter by Queen Elizabeth II. Auwe!
Coach Chow ate at Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck? Giovanni’s is a customer of hubby’s company.
Ironically, neither of us has dined there. Lol.
Ive been out of high school for 11 years and the advent of technology available to students nowadays with smartphones, apps, portable internet access (iPads, tablets, etc…) over the same 11 years has been amazing.
Well… apparently so has the convience of getting akshen!
Guess the progression of things, all things, are indeed exponential.
The head coach of a high profile sport at a private high school insitution, any private institution doesn’t just “step down”.
Did the prior Punahou baseball head coach just simply “step down”.
Why Arceneaux is leaving is anyone’s guess for now, but no one can deny how insane things are getting at the high school level when it comes to expectations and pressure from parents, “boosters”, “invested” alumni, etc…
26-7 record at st louis. why wasn’t that enuff?
tommui…ah but the queen is of england and she don’t know french. so it don’t matter.
savoir faire rule apply.
after all, i was just bringing up truths that were displayed on the blog. so it is considered facts as i discovered them written by the author’s own pen.
did you try the new burger place next to g sushi in hiram fong’s old property?
how will these 2 offensive coordinators match up? Rolo vs. Lee? Whose team will win? Can’t wait to find out.
Congrats to A. Brown! Happy BD Steve (giver of IPhone to ST)!
(penciling in Kats Sushi to weekend calendar)
Saint Louis has had some great talent over the years but not quite the kind of success it enjoyed under the Lee Brothers.
mo808: it was Scott, not Steve. Lol
i am sure that some st. louis alumni will not be pleased to find out the new hc is not one of them. the private school alumni who hold strong their heritage will wonder why an alumni was not chosen. (this is based upon people i know.)
until the truth be told it is not pono to make false conjecture, hypothesis, and innuendo as to why there is a change. after all it is someone’s son.
Gigi thanks for that! Sorry Scott!! Happy Birthday!!!
oh, and i believe that kadooka did step away from being a head coach at punahou for the exact reasons that he did…more time with family.
he did accept a part time role to work with the kailua pitchers.
mo808…i know that the men in your family will enjoy kat’s. please do make reservations because there is limited seating unless you don’t mind the outdoor picnic benches.
and bring lots of quarters. street parking is cheaper than the (again) limited parking.
and do bring your own beverages along with your appetite.
Eating sushi in Tokyo forever spoiled me. Nothing in Hawaii can compare. The fish in Tokyo were caught in the north so it was really fresh.
Then we come home and one week later dine at Genki’s Sushi. Yuck.
Seems like people assume it is St. Louis to blame for his departure. We know nothing yet. Maybe it’s the other way around? Gotta wait and see.
Matt Wright’s going to be a good coach. Sharp guy.
GG,
I didn’t expect much from Giovanni as this was my 1st time. Much better than I expected. I would go back again.
Went to see the sushi movie at Kahala. I thought some of the fish were imported in frozen like Ahi? Whenever I think of “fresh” I think that its caught that morning and on the sashimi platter same day. If that were the case, the fish would be so tough ๐
gg…genki’s sushi is the equivalent to fast food drive inn.
hawaii does have some of the best sushi.
you need to go to the quality places that serve fresh and not previously frozen fish.
for example, gaku’s, nonbei, yohei, maguroya, and a few more select places.
mitch’s is a hole in the wall near the airport that also serves fresh catch without the ambience.
you pay for what you get.
(btw, sushi does not mean raw fish.)
Watching CNN and saw all of the discussion about whether P. Diddy’s son should accept a scholorship from UCLA because his dad is loaded $$. Seems kinda silly. Justin Combs is considered one of the top defensive backs in the nation coming out of high school and has a 3.75 GPA. He seems worthy based on that.
Did not think it could get muggier . . . humidity up in the mid-70’s now.
With the cooler temps it really feels like the Midwest in the early morning.
wow paul pierce deserves a grammy for his performance so far.
oops i meant oscar.
Gigi you probably got to eat some bluefin tuna huh? That stuff is unreal. Sooooo fatty. You can sometimes get it at Tamashiros.
Maybe Arceneaux got a better offer…
Howzit Tsaikos everywhere.
gotta hand it to all you good commentators. gimme 5. ๐
SteveM
count me in for USC 9/1. prolly gonna land LAX on 9/1 early am. catch da bus or sumtin to da stadium. catch da next day back to Hilo cuz I’m expectin crazy celebrations. and communals. where do i log in?
okay Coach. count me in! now get da Warriors up an crushin!!!!!
Now quite a few Iolani alum head coaches among the local high schools……
– Wendell Look (Iolani)
– Clint Onigama (Kaimuki)
– Eric Keola (Waipahu)
– Rod York (Mililani)
– Matt Wright (Saint Louis)
just like in the 70’s when had…..
– Eddie Hamada (Iolani)
– Masa Yonamine (Waipahu)
– Larry Ginoza (Waianae)
– Hugh Yoshida (Leilehua)
Just curious how this is going over with the Crusader faithful????
#113,
Although he didn’t tell me himself, heard other Punahou alum friends say that Eric Kadaoka left his HC post….after 7 consecutive D1 State Championships….after getting fed up by being hassled by the mainland AD Garcia….after the team didn’t qualify for the State tourney in 2011.
In regards to D.Arceneaux I did here that before the season that if he did not win the State Title he would resign….Who knows though but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on Mililani’s sideline this coming season…
#121,
That’s the official reason…..NOT the real one.
Common knowledge apparently within the Punahou sports circle.
AL #115 – the Queen knows – it’s on that emblem with the red cross that you see on her robes!
Where is this hamburger place next to g sushi?
AL #115 – never mind – that’s the one in Market City. I saw it and admired the menu. That was after we ate at the Pho Place or maybe the Cafe next door.
We were in Tokyo in 2008 — the earthquake was in 2011. I would not eat sashimi or sushi there now because of radiation. The water and soil are contaminated.
But, memories — wow!
Anybody watch the game today? The Celtics are hard to beat at home. But don’t give up on the Heat.
Nytal!
Congrats to AB!
He’s the first guy that came to mind when I tried to figure out who JD2 reminded me of. Same type of intrinsic qualities.
wow just heard new head football coach at St Louis, was mentioned on news last night too but missed that
evening all
Seems like SDSU is really screwed if Boise changes their mind…
reliable source from one supa birdie to divulge info, so al calling a cc
kk, shoots! lmk
cc said somebody?
fuud?
I’m in for a cc!
too busy in the next three weeks…but, kk you go make plans for one.
Just say no to Boise State in the Big West. Unless they provide charter flights for all sports, limousine service from the airport to the hotel and green carpet to the field. And one more thing, a free locomoco lunch.
One more thing, Boise’s exit clause from the Big West should be $30 million.
old diver – yes to all of the above except UH doesn’t care about the color of the field if they don’t have to play them anymore cuz they’re in the Big East.
Ricketts named Lowe’s Senior Class First team All American, a well deserved accolade.

congratulations stephanie ricketts!
a well deserved award.
Congratulations Stephanie!!
Mahalo to all our Tsaikos who never gave up and religiously voted everyday. Even under adverse circumstances.
A BIG Mahalo to our Tsaiko Softball Boosters who continue to keep the flame burning under the program!!
