Free safety Dante Johnson’s name appears to evoke question marks.
When Johnson’s name was included among the interview requests, a UH official said: “Dante Johnson?”
When the request list was being read off, Warrior football teammates responded with a collective: What?
But Johnson has made an interception in each of the past two scrimmages. And he has been getting work in spring-training drills.
Johnson said he still is adjusting to the newly implemented defense, and his interceptions are a way of making “up for a couple of ย mistakes on the back end of the defense.”
Johnson was a track and football competitor at North Gwinett High in Georgia. He joined the Warriors as a preferred walk-on a week the before the start of the 2011 fall semester. He redshirted as a freshman.
Johnson, who is 6-1 and 180, has the quickness to play in the Warriors’ match-up defense. With depth charts written in chalk, each of the DBs has a chance to qualify for the playing rotation.
“I’m just glad I have the opportunity to be here with this team,” Johnson said.

Today’s 11th practice of spring training will feature another scrimmage-like session.

Preliminary count shows last night’s telethon raised more than $60,000.
The biggest attraction? Visitors wanting to pose with Stephanie Lum.

In a text to this blog, outside hitter Stephen Maar said he will submit his letter of intent ย to the volleyball Warriors after this weekends Provincial championship matches.

The best part about Dante Johnson is that he’s a freshman and time to grow. Continued success.
Big Hilo:
I’m not exactly sure, but I’m guessing … plane?
Im liking how there is no bias towards any player, and that ALL are being given a fair shot.
BHF2 – hope all is well with you – and getting better!

Top XVIII!
Keep up the good work Mr. Johnson!
Thanks to the Steves, I had an extra $200 that was donated to Na Koa.
Stretch:
And we got to see Steve Uyehara.
@19 & 20,
Hahaha, you guys are too funny.
STRETCH:
You da man!
Watching the Na Koa fund raiser, I saw Chawan stick his head in the room with former UH players taking donations over the phone.
His trusty camera in hand ready for that magic opportunity!
Thank you very much for all of the support we received from our Warrior Fans! The final amount raised is still be tabulated and weโll let you know soon how much you helped raise for the Warrior football program.

BRAVO Tsaikos and Tsaikettes! You came through – again – last night!!! You are all so awesome! At least 10 Tsaikos and Tsaikettes answered al’s challenge. Al, d1, gmahoney, slugger, Kekoa, chawan_cut, SailorBlue and Stretch to name a few…I believe there are a few more who donated to Nฤ Koa. Mahalo, mahalo!
The energy in the newsroom last night was electric with all the former players and coaches…and yes, many of them loving seeing Stephanie Lum IRL.
Good morning. I enjoyed the An Evening with Norm Chow. I learned a lot about the expectations of the coaches on the team. The defensive attitude is exactly the kind of defense we need whose identity reminds me of teams past who were aggressive. Our coach needs to get some rest. I’m the same age and noticed things about his presence that concerns me. I will pray for his good health to lead this team and to leave his legacy on this program. Go Warriors.
Tom:
Thanks for the daily reminder to Vote for Stephanie and the link. It works for me.
powderpuff…add to that tommui’s most generous donation. according to my abacus the tsaiko contribution easily topped $1200!!!
also, bighilofan2 was one of the first to open the checkbook.
i believe one could still make a donation to this cause.
in fact, this could be done all year round. any amount is great.
Dante Johnson was an invited walkon last fall, via Rich Miano. I first got wind of him via Kapakahi. So far this spring he has been the Ball Hawk snagging in atleast 4 to 5 ints and taking a few to the house. Great kid, loves. Hawaii
Here is his SH profile
http://www.sportshawaii.com/sh/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=41981
WOW, mahalo tommui and BHF2….you gentlemen are true Warriors. The UH Foundation people were handling the donations (and they were BUSY), so I could only rely on what I knew without asking them. Sorry for overlooking your generosity.
PowderPuff, Al:
Where can contributions be sent to? Are checks made out to Na koa?
RE: Dante Johnson,
I’m glad he’s playing well and getting a lot of INT’s but does anyone else find it worrysome that our QB’s are throwing so many INT’s?
#33 PowderPuff:
Sorry Al brought it up – I asked JD (who answered the phone) that I was an annon Tsaiko.
Dante Johnson may or may not keep moving up, but so far it validates one of Miano’s walk-ons– we get some good players hat way.
Tsai-kos Anonymous?
haleakala…here’s the link to the na koa website.
i’ve tabbed the donate section for you.
can be done online or thru the mail.
mahalo bro!

Awesome, al. Thank you. If I’m not mistaken, we were telling folks to send their checks via snail mail to: UH Foundation, PO Box 11270, Honolulu, HI 96828-0270. If anything, Joyce at Nฤ Koa will gladly answer any questions you may have at 956-4513.
Great article on Chad Ikei and how he turned this accountant who didn’t play college football into an NFL caliber player.

Good morning Tsaikos!
Good going guys!
BTW, JD gave a shout-out to the Tsaikos at the volleyball banquet on Sunday. ๐
Dante Johnson… North Gwinnett High… hey! That’s about 20 minutes northwest of where we live! They stomped on just about everyone they played this past season, and their two losses were pretty close games.
Alabama’s closing the gap. C’mon, everyone! Get them votes out!!!

ST,
That’s funny about Stephanie Lum getting so much attention. Can’t blame everyone. Even Colt “noticed” her. Didn’t he even request her autograph?
Bama ain’t gonna close a damn thing.
Alabama, last year’s national champion, plays Michigan in their first game about the time we play USC. Michigan played well last year,
but did not win the big 10. They won their bowl game.
Mahalo Powder Puff!
Your dedicated work behind the scenes in securing funds for the Warriors is commendable.
Would it be possible to ‘borrow’ that phone bank crew to help me raise funds to pay my taxes next year?

Airline baggage fees are a pain in the okole.
How about this plan to minimize our out-of-pocket expenses for all travelling with 2 or more passengers. Place all your heavy items inside one large bag, including shoes, jeans, etc., and use a roll-on hand carry for your “light” items.
We usually have 3 passengers and will use this on our next trip. Why pay $75 one-way when you can pay only $25 one-way?

Thanks ai-eee-soos. Voted for 15 minutes straight and could only boost Steph up from 25.6 to 25.7. Must take a lot of votes to change the percentage.
This really is something I truly need to try and do a great deal of analysis into, thanks for the post
I say without any certainty – and STEVEM and other computer gurus may disagree – but my impression is that when you go into private browsing, all cookies etc are eliminated. Those voting sites, after you vote, will put a cookie on your computer saying that you voted and so when you log on again, your computer is examined and if the cookie is there, the site will say you already voted and come again tomorrow.
As private browsing does not allow the cookie to be placed on your computer, you are cookie free and the site will think that you have not voted and allow you to vote again.
So while the site may be leary of the votes coming in from Hawaii, it relies on the cookie placement.
There may be other ways of checking, but that requires them to actually check (i.e. put in the time to do so) instead of relying on the automatic check – the cookie.
one day it’ll all come back but right now Wie is sinking faster than Jack Dawson.

Just wanna add that some AUBURN fans are helping in the race for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award.
Never underestimate the hatred between Auburn and Alabama.

Thru the power of social media, I made some requests, so they claim they’re voting.
But the idea to initiate “help” from Auburn comes from a story I heard about the softball team’s experience with so-called Alabama Southern Hospitality…
Following the Wahine’s monumental upset of the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament on their home field, some friends of family members went to a local restaurant for dinner to celebrate and essentially were purposely SNUBBED by the waiters and waitresses, when they left the manager came running after them to apologize and offer a discount, the Wahine softball supporters DECLINED.
Now, I cannot remember where they drove to, but they essentially ended up in “Auburn Country” at a sports bar/restaurant and with their green UH softball shirts and whatnot, they were greeted with cheers from the people there telling them how great it was to see Alabama fans get silenced on their own home field.
They ended up talking up a storm with the Hawaii people and they said they were even watching the game on the TVs there and supposedly it looked like Auburn Softball was going to the WCWS with their reaction.
The Hawaii people got some of their food comp’d and left on a good note!
Kevin: “feel good” story.
Howzit Tsaikos.
okay my turn. Steph, here comes da vote, agan!
Would have been more of a “feel good” story if I heard someone on our end went to the bathroom at the Bama restaurant and took a **** and wrote on the walls with it before leaving.
๐ ๐ ๐
BHF2 – GO for it.
But maybe we shouldn’t over do it – might raise suspicions.
Maybe we should stay ONLY 5 % ahead of # 2.
What you guys think ?
RE: tommui’s #73 at 2:43 pm
Tom — you are essentially correct. Cookies are a fast and designed method for web sites to “remember” data/settings. Most are good, some are malware. Deleting or blocking cookies is a common practice.
Bottom line is how serious is the web site (seniorclassawards) in enforcing it’s one vote per day policy. Hit counting and tracking software for the website will gather count, date/time, IP address, and even MAC address. MAC addresses are the unique “media access control”numbers burnt into the ethernet interface of your device–wired and wireless. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address
This is how those computer geeks on TV and movies can track down and identify any given computer in the world. Over simplified and dramatized using “IP address”, but the fact remains any computer–like yours, can be identified by MAC address.
So while a ton of votes will obviously come from Hawaii IP addresses, it is whether they check one step further for MAC addresses…or even bother to check at all. (I don’t think they will–too much work for what is at stake in the larger picture).
But here was a contest a few years back about “Best Sports Blog in America”. Needed a different email address to vote. We voted for the Warrior Beat, of course. Got up to 2nd place when we suddenly found ourselves 65th after they disqualified multiple votes from the same computer. How did they know–MAC address.
With a 1/3 of the vote count, it is a big enough reason to look, but the other 2/3 is a human voting panel.
That ALWAYS puts ANY UH student-athlete as the underdog.
Let’s face it, whether it’s softball or football, those guys up there do NOT do their homework sometimes.
I don’t know if anyone remembers, but Kelly Majam was not even in consideration for top freshman of the year in 2010 and the nominees were named WELL into the season and she did SIGNIFICANT “damage” at the plate at that time for any so-called softball expert voter or whatever to see.
This year a little different. Thanks to Stephanie Ricketts and Kaia Parnaby AND the improved fielding efforts overall, UH has been in the Top 5 best ERAs in the country overall and Stephanie and Kaia danced around the Top 20 individual ERAs for one week and together stayed amongst the Top 10 nationally all year long.
Off topic:
Just got a text messageโฆ WWE Inc. touts 1.3 million domestic ppv buys for Wrestlemania 28 resulting in $67 million dollars in domestic ppv revenue alone, yet stock in the company hits all time low closing at $7.96/share last night.
I was given a decent amount of shares as an early graduation gift when they went public and honestly. I think back then in 1999 over 10 million shares were being offered at $17.00 each.
Time to sell???
(WWE should have NEVER gone “public”. They had and STILL have NO debt, even after the XFL debacle cost them $400 million and they had a TON of capital back then, still ok, but other than ‘bragging rights’ not sure why they went public.)
Issues i donโt fully understood open for real truth how we aren’t a legitimate lot more nicely-appreciated as opposed to you most likely are at this time. Youโre particularly brilliant. You already know for this reason greatly around the state of affairs with the topic area, formulated everyone in my circumstances contemplate it at a great deal of different ways. Their like men and some women donโt manage to turned out to be serious until eventually it can be a particular point connected with Rhianna! Your own personal details great. Regularly overcome upward!
Interesting fact about Alabama:
“More than one-third of Alabama’s 67 counties still prohibit the sale of alcohol, and all but two counties in north Alabama are dry”. Part of article posted by Jay Reeves, AP, Birmingham, Al.
Georgia takes the first game from #2 ‘Bama, 7-4, behind Arevalo and Montemayor’s pitching. ‘Bama lost earlier in the week to Georgia State, 5-1.
Buy, Kevin Buy.
Any comments on the “Heart of a Warrior” song by Henry Kapono last night?
It’s place around the football program is only adequate if it’s played as the people are in line at the buffet table during the Alex Waterhouse Banquet at the end of the year.
Shoots, a kissing booth with Stephanie Lum could have raised a lot of money.

Any practice info for today?
Thanks for making me to get new thoughts about pc’s. I also have the belief that certain of the best ways to keep your mobile computer in prime condition is by using a hard plastic-type case, or maybe shell, that fits over the top of one’s computer. These kind of protective gear are generally model precise since they are manufactured to fit perfectly above the natural outer shell. You can buy these directly from owner, or via third party places if they are for your notebook computer, however only a few laptop could have a shell on the market. Once again, thanks for your guidelines.

Warriors defense using at least 18 players on a steady rotation and a “wolf” defense to shake things up. I hope the coaches are prepared as more and more colleges are using the “no huddle” offense so the other team cannot substitute as frequent. The rotation should give the players more experience for years to come instead of leaving the cubbards bare upon graduations.
hello buddy!…
Explain why might you mention something such as that?…
hello buddy!…
Cheers a lot for supplying everybody an incredibly exceptional possibility to verify suggestions from this website. It is always very desirable plus brimming with fun for me personally and our office friends to find the web site at least 3 times inside…
