The Warriors are committed to using a tight end this season, but there’s now some flexibility with the 11th offensive position.
The Warriors had hoped to use a fullback — which, like the tight end — was absent from their offense the previous 14 seasons. Inside receiver Scott Harding and running back Will Gregory are providing other options.
Harding has been one of the Warriors’ most consistent receivers in spring training. The Warriors are open to employing a three-receiver set featuring two wide receivers, a tight end, Harding as an inside receiver and running back Joey Iosefa.
Dustin Elisara, a converted defensive lineman, has been practicing as the No. 1 fullback. Iosefa is considered the Warriors’ best back, and with the emergence of Gregory, there is possibility both could be used in the same backfield. They could be in a split-back set, or Iosefa could serve as a power back with Gregory as the speed back.
Head coach Norm Chow said he wants to craft a role for the Gregory, who redshirted as a freshman in 2011.
“I had to redshirt because I couldn’t get the blocking down,” Gregory said, a reference to the primary role of the running back in last year’s four-wide offense.
Now the speedy Gregory can be used strictly as a running back in the newly implemented pro-set offense.
“I was at the right place at the right time,” Gregory said.
Gregory also can be used in tough-yards situations. He said he has gained 20 pounds, and now weighs 210.
“This offense is cool,” Gregory said. “I’m learning every day.”

Chow said the Warriors will have their first scrimmage this afternoon.
Chow said there will be 60 plays, with the first and second teams getting 30 plays apiece.

Former UH safety Mike Wadsworth was unsuccessful in his appeal for a waiver allowing him to enroll at BYU.
Wadsworth was a top specialist as a UH freshman in 2009. He then went on a two-year church mission to England.
He requested a release from UH that would allow him to transfer to another school. UH agreed to release him to any school but BYU. Wadsworth appealed, but the ruling was upheld.
Aloha!
Scrimmage today!
Sterling Jackson must be chomping at the bit.. .
ST,
You’re right, Steven Christian isn’t on the roster anymore.
So does that mean Mike Wadsworth will be enrolling at UH or is he paying his own way to play at BYU?
BleedGreen,
He might go down one division for a year. He can do that, play and come back, right?
What time is the scrimmage? Hoping it’s late enough for me to attend. 😆
MIH:
Chow said he’s not on the team anymore
I guess he indicated he was looking at other options after earning his degree, so UH moved on without him.
I hope he has something lined up.
Bleed:
Practice is at 3:30.
Have no idea when the scrimmage will be played.
MIH–
I think he can move down a division or enrolls at UH, he can play right away. But if he enrolls at BYU without a release, he will have to pay for his own tuition and must redshirt this year. Same situation with Stump Godfrey.
Bleed:
Wadsworth isn’t coming back to UH.
I imagine he’ll enroll at BYU.
There was some talk about a rule change that would require a player who transfers after returning from a mission to redshirt. I did a soft search and haven’t found if that rule passed or not.
In either case, Wadsworth has to pay his own way.
good morning
I do know that Rley Nelson played at Utah State as a freshman, went on a two-year church mission, then played at BYU without sitting out a year.
In 2009, the NCAA enacted what is referred to as the Riley Nelson Rule, in which schools may not contact players on missions.
Can’t he accept a schollie from a FCS team then try to go back to BYU the following year? Assuming an FCS team would take him for a year, that is.
Darn it. Won’t be able to make it. These are the times when I wish we still had the Princess. Hey, Mr. Tsai, you mind making her work for a couple of hours? She should be done with work by then. I’m sure the tsaikos who aren’t able to attend don’t mind chipping in.
btw…is there any promise in seeing chinedu “promise” amadi running with the ball this year?
Bleedgreen808,
No DSLR photographs, so NO videos, I’m sure.
MIH–
#14
You may be right.
Along with Jackson, haven’t heard those names at all, either.
FBS and FCS schools are both Division I; player must sit out a year if he transfers from FCS to FBS.
too bad…i really liked mike wadsworth. seemed like a real football player.
whats the word on ben mamea?
did he really attend west oahu college and did he earn or is on target to earn the mandatory 24 credits?
#11
Too bad about Wadsworth. Really showed some potential as a true freshman.
Well, wishing him the best. Thanks for being a warrior.
It’s a good rule. BYU was able to evaluate Wadsworth as a freshman. Wadsworth’s mission was honorable and well-meaning. But if he’s on a mission for the Mormon church, which administers BYU, there is some inherent advantage for the Cougars. It’s probably unintentional, but it is an advantage.
this scrimmage looms large for the entire team.
call it the elevator ride, some will go up and others will go down.
I don’t think jobs will be won or lost because of the scrimmage.
The coaches need to evaluate players, and the scrimmage is another measurement tool.
st…you did mean “30 plays apiece” and not “30 players apiece” didn’t you?
MIH–
#17
I’ll just have to rely on reports from everyone.
Yep, 30 plays.
Thanks.
Some of the OL might have to do double-duty. There’s a shortage of linemen at the moment.
UH does not allow photos or videos when the team is in formation during practices.
You guys better attend practices now.
They’re expected to be closed to the public in the fall.
ST–
#31
I’m willing to carry your bag around for you for a media pass during the fall. 😆
Derek Inouchi provides media passes.
You guys should ask if he needs help.
Of course, that means you wouldn’t be able to post on blogs or sports sites.
hey, thats a job for you-know-who.
Hmmm………….
Oh, so, Ican bring my camera but just not point it at the team when/where they are in formation?
I’m sure Derek Inouchi needs a closer.
We’ve been leaving UH at 6:30 p.m. Derek, while helpful, has that exasperated look because he carpools with his wife, who has to wait for him.
Btw, what happened to NorthShoreFan? He’s been MIA. Hope everything is fine
MIH:
I think basically the media can shoot the first 30 minutes of practice.
Not sure if the public is allowed to take photos. WarriorMojo was told he couldn’t shoot.
so mack has his house for sale. i guess he’s staying away from all things university of hawaii, he didn’t even let artie wilson list it.
well, mack has certainly kept his end of the bargain…we haven’t even heard a peep from him. i thought some sort of nice exit interview would have been nice coming from him. afterall we paid him well.
oh well.
He has two houses in Hawaii.
isn’t his grandson going to be a senior next year?
Sophomore, I think.
If I recall the past practices I’ve been to, there have been people taking pictures. In fact, Island Sports Media’s facebook page has a bunch of photos of practice. Also, I don’t recall reading anything that says “no photography” around the fence. I’ve seen “no filming” and a bunch of arrows symbols.
Maybe they were installing trick plays that day WarriorMojo was told not to shoot.
Anyway, time to hit the sack. Looking forward to reports from scrimmage.
Bleed:
Don’t know. I got a call from Derek saying “one of your people” is trying to shoot photos.
I didn’t know I had “people.”
Then again, Koakane gave himself a tour of the locker rooms.
I’ll take credit for him.
Where is practice? ON the grass or in Ching?
By the way, I haven’t been posting photos while Ferd and I await the iPhones ScottM promised us.
5-0
ST–
I think Mr. Inouchi thinks everyone is your “people”. You are a popular guy.
Before I forget, as always, thanks for the info.
Good night to all, including lurkers!
MIH:
Don’t know.
By the way, ya know i love ya, but can you post only the link to the blog and not most of the content on Facebook? Thanks.
Sorry about that…I had a difficult time trying to figure out where to cut it off..it just kept building…I’ll be more careful in the future.
No prob.
I should have done it like I did in Sportshawaii,,,but Sportshawaii I sat on it longer…I went backto delete and repost, but some guy had already commented and I didn’t want to kill his comment.
My youngest son was a Tyler Gronke fan. He made a sign out of an old sheet to take to Spring Practice after the Sugar Bowl. Sign said, “And now its Tyler Time!” We never got to unfurl it and wondering what ever happened to Tyler. Hope he will be remembered for the part he played in Warrior history of the perfect season.
“Practice is at 3:30. Have no idea when the scrimmage will be played.”
Okeedokee! I better try to make it there for the scrimmage might be last chance!
Have an Aloha filled Friday all!
Hey all,
Have a good time watching practice and scrimmage today. Would love to see what you guys think of the new defense in the scrimmage.
Also, I came across this…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ72PTqVLLk
morning gang!
happy aloha friday!
Great Morning All!
Did someone say “scrimmage”?
(did I mention that I’m off today?)
Good morning Tsaikos!
Happy Aloha Friday!
GO WAHINE!
GO BOWS!
No one at UH is impeding Wadsworth from playing at BYU next year. The only question is whether Wadsworth can immediately receive an athletic scholarship from BYU. Two different things entirely.
good morning 808 and alojah Friday yu’all
side note Fed tax deadline soon, filing for extension iover…. as some say get her done
did someone say I having kope at Starbucks

Hope Wadsworth comes back to UH, it’s the honorable thing to do.
Mr Tsai, We are your PEOPLE !
good mroning tsaikos and have fun thru the weekend.

Thanks for all the updates!
Play well and play SAFELY, Warriors!
No more season-threatening injuries during scrimmage!
Good mjorning Tsaikos everywhere.

Go Warriors!
Good Morning Ganageez! 🙂
Yes, Mr. Tsai, you have people. Like it or not that includes moi. 🙂
Great post today, chock full o’ the stuff your people love to read, Big Daddy! Definitely gonna try and make the scrimmage today.
What exactly is Sterling Jackson’s status. It will be nice to see him in the backfield too.
Mornin’ Beeg Heelo, Auntie Liz, whitey, Dennis and NYUH! How’s errybody?
Sterling Jackson is recovering from an injury. He won’t be participating in contact drills this spring.
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
DPK – depending on you to report on the scrimmage today.
GOOD PEOPLE, Don’t forget to vote today for Stephanie!
Stuff like this is why no one likes the NCAA. The student is bound to the school, but the school and NCAA have all the control; they can cut the scholarship; the coach that recruited you can leave; the NCAA owns your likeness and can sell you name on a jersey and picture (and the student gets nothing); the NCAA tells you can’t sell your personal property or work a part-time job… I think UH should give him a full release.
ST,
Who or what entity was Wadsworth appealing to?
Oldtimer808
Email me at stsai@staradvertiser.com
Here’s a link to download a promotional flyer to vote for Steph. I cannot make it to the games this week, but maybe someone can print some out to post or pass out. Da ‘Bama girl is getting closer…Vote Now! Approve this message!

Not the most flattering picture as it looks like she has beard…photoshop!
Go Steph!
Go Wahine!
Go Warriors!
DPK – go watch scrimmage and then go watch Wahine beat up LaTech. 😀
Good morning Tsaikos!!!
Hey Gramps….D1 is off today…..MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Gud luck Mike W.
does this mean we need to worry about byu trying to get ursua in 2 years?
that’s a pretty dirty tactic by byu. contacting a player while on a mission seems highly unethical. the irony is that byu supposedly holds themselves to a higher standard than the rest. go figgah.
cheepono –
Things that make ya go hmmmmm…
Especially since BYU wasn’t recruiting him when he was in high school. I believe, Wadsworth had offers from Arizona, Hawaii, and Nevada.
Good morning everyone!
Looks like great weather for a scrimmage and the softball game.
cheepono …
Or that QB Zwahlen. should he commit to UH. He also plans to go on a 2-year mission after his freshman year.
i thought there were contact rules in place while a member of the LDS was on a church mission. anywhozit, who said Wadsworth was contacted by byu during his mission? if they did then it would be a violation.
What would be the problem with releasing Wadsworth to BYU? There may be other factors for Mr. Wadsworth to want to go to BYU besides football. And with the new coaching staff and schemes, and Wadsworth being away for two years, strategic reasons shouldn’t be a concern. But I guess it is.
are the north koreans crazy? first their rocket test fails and now they may be entertaining testing their nuclear power. talk about digging a deeper hole.
first of all they should consult with Hyundai to build a better structured rocket and also contact Samsung for their electronics expertise. no use play with uranium until they can make a rocket that can stay in one piece, fly straight, and communicate with mission control.
Wadsworth can go to byu, just not on a football schollie.
Dustin Elisara #44 is looking pretty beastly out there at Fullback. Looking a lot more in shape and slim. Relentless kid. Looking forward to watching this kid knock some heads in.
Couch Potato,
They’ll end up blowing themselves up. Then no more threat, yah?
Wadsworth can go to BYU. He’ll just have to pay his way for a year. Or he can go to 118 other schools and receive a scholarship. This is a pre-emptive move by UH because it will be recruiting more Utah players.
the thing is we don’t want them to get carried away and take out South Korea too. then where Palama market going get most of their inventory?
Aloha I have a good feeling about the upcoming football season. This team will surprise us with some upset wins. I suspect that Coach Chow can finally run the offense the way he has always envisioned. Has Coach Shoji announced anything concerning transfers? Have a great day Warrior Beat.
Couch Potato.. !!
What was I thinking! .. besides day old bread from St. Germaine, they would go out of business. No can let that happen!
Talk about your “Korean Drama”! 😯
Excellent discussion about Spring Training here.. come back after you’re done though.. and discuss, please.
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=219&f=1136&t=8901394
Oh! This just announced by a NKorean spokesman.
The Great Leader has announced a continued celebration of the Great Founder’s 100th Birthday that builds on the recent successful rocket launch.
Thousands of the Leader’s adoring followers have volunteered to build and work in the project to develop the most advanced and feared weapons in the world to protect Dear Leader from western threats.
This is an instructive demonstration to the lowly dog-like opposition of the Nearly-Great Present President of a truly “Nuclear Family”.
d1shima
North Korean is a little different from South Korean dialect.. lemme see if I can translate…
“Okay, so we sucked with rocket launch, but was funny yah? Anyway, we need more money… Nuclear threat means we REALLY need US bucks.. please advise ASAP when check will be in the mail.”
i too am excited to see a different Warrior team on the field. i try not to get too uber excited since this is a new offense and defense. however, with the enthusiasm and dedication of the players and coaches i feel they’ll be clicking on almost all cylinders by midpoint of the season.
last season i got excited being that they were the defending WAC champions with an experienced defense but we know how that ended. that’s ok though, the team is starting fresh , wrinkles are being ironed out, eyes wide open attitudes are there, come fall, GO WARRIORS!
CP…
I dunno about wrinkles being ironed out, just yet… more like wrinkles being found. I think they take all the bumps and wrinkles into the off season and figure out how to iron or smooth things over before fall camp begins.
no can take wrinkles into da off season since coaches no going be der fo teach da playas how fo use da iron. playas go to laundry man in da weightroom and ask fo key to no wrinkle cream. ~couchfucious
Couch Potato.. just hope they don’t put the starch on the wrong places.. can cause chaffing..
…and stiffness.
stiffness on a guy.. not too bad. 😉
Everybody went into hiding.. I better gets some work done too, I suppose.
ok den, late brunch.
GO WAHINE SB
GO BASEBOWS
GO WARRIORS
For some reason, I can’t get here using Chrome… it just keeps spinning.. no problem with Mozilla, though.
Cassie Reilly-Boccia (Alabama) is gaining ground – if you haven’t voted for Stepanie today, better get going!
Vote and vote often!
NCAA announces the winners of the 2011-2012 women basketball “Pack the House” award to 32 conferences and 1 independent. Every team gets to pick a game to promote “Pack the House” and compete with conference members. La Tech is named WAC winner, for them, it’s 5 consecutive years- this year’s game with Fresno drew 7000+. In the Big West, Long Beach won the honors with 2656 in attendance.
and K State won the Big 12 for the second consecutive year with 12,528 fans at the Baylor game.

I hope Beeman can light the fire under UH marketing to promote games for the Na Wahine, they deserve a better fate and commitment from UHAD.

Mystery Man #37 on Offense is Revealed:
http://www.sportshawaii.com/sh/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=42068
Tomorrow we’ll see mystery man #37 on defense 🙂
I like this web blog very much so much great information. “Probably the most distinctive characteristic of the successful politician is selective cowardice.” by Richard Harris.
1 – Do it right.
2 – Do it 100%.
Howzit, everyone!
Mahalo for the updates, ST! Good stuff to read and discuss!
Gang, we have until May14 to continue voting for Stephanie Ricketts. Looks like most of the others are slowing down or forgetting to vote. We gotta keep the vote going and build up as large a lead as possible. You know some of the competition will come on strong near the end.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Go, Wahine!!!
Go, ‘Bows!!!
Wes’side Warrior:
The one from Alabama is making a huge surge.. she was in the lead then fell far back.. now she’s less than 3% back… let’s not drop the ball in the last quarter like 2006!… VOTE! and beat Alabama!
chrome works for me, version 18.0.1025.162 m
Working for me now.. somehow I picked up this thing called funmoods and it was spreading like wildfire on my computer… killed it with the old standby… Combofix.exe
Made,
One UH team beat BAMA … TWICE… IN BAMA in 2010.
Neva mind 2006.
i heard through the grapevine that #37 on D is geordon hanohano’s younger brother. any truth to this?
Kevin …Can you post the voting link again??? Thanks.
Does this look like he could be hanohano’s younger brother?

#81 cheepono i hear u byu always does that crap they did that when malosi teo was on a schollie at unlv then when he went on his mish byu made their move. durty buggas.
mih…thats a pic of ragsdale who plays rb on offense.
cheepono’s reference is a guy on “d”.
mih- that’s #37 on offense.
the la tech softball team is out at waikiki resort hotel and learning the hula as we speak. lol
i hope they catch that “possibly armed” guy down by the hawaiian studies lo’i so football practice is unaffected. really wanna catch the scrimmage.
Don’t let Petrino near Ragsdale’s sister!
I think there is a softball game to be played too tonight.
Kind of important since I think we are in the WAC season fighting for #1.
I think…
Cheepono.. I know that link is for a RB but it was BigWave who said we shall see him on Defense.. I dunno… BigWaves alway confuse me. 😉
Oh.. I see.. TWO DIFFERENT #37s! LOL
dang!
This is sounding like a Korean Drama.
I really need to look at this movie, I question if I can obtain it or even hire it from the regional video shop
yes kevin, i’m aware of a softball game tonight as well. a comment regarding wanting to watch the football scrimmage shouldn’t be construed as overlooking the importance of the softball team. chillax.
Just got a message from a niece that there’s some sort of a “shootout” at the UH campus. Anyone know anything? Be safe, those out there!
Oh, cheepono already mentioned something about 15 minutes ago. Sorry, takes long for da tweeting birds to reach ova hea.
Just made a call to the UH athletic office…
CURRENTLY NO ATHLETIC EVENTS TONIGHT HAVE BEEN POSTPONED OR CANCELLED DUE TO THE ON-GOING HPD INVESTIGATION ON CAMPUS.
EVERYTHING SCHEDULE SO FAR.
MIH… wasn’t sure how anyone else was doing. Looked like both Cal and Alabama had slowed down the past week, but I think some of our voters forgot too. Just gotta keep da pressure on.

more info on the “possibly armed male”: http://www.hawaii.edu/security
WW,
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/17422726/possible-armed-male-reported-on-uh-manoa-campus
Received an notification from MPI that they have closed the gates into UH and increased security around the MPI campus, just in case…
Hope this ends well.
UH Richardson Law School and Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies on LOCKDOWN.
This kid is starting to piss me off…
Isn’t the Law School and Hawaiian Studies buildings above the tennis courts, top level of the parking structure? Hawaiian studies should be above the aquifer (duck pond) in the quarry.
Situation resolved (per MPI email)
Yeppers…. Hawaii News Now says male is in HPD custody.
GAME ON!!!
Ralph,
Johnson Hall and Gateway are directly above the pond, next to them is the new Frear Hall overlooking the grass fields, then the “quads” and further down, almost off campus is the Hawaiian studies complex.
at first i thought it was you know who, but then i figgah he no mo shorty.
forwarded to me ….. re UH ….
(2:56 p.m.) Suspect apprehended by police off campus around 2:30 pm. All clear. Crisis counseling is available, call — —-.
Thinking the same thing here.
Saw the first description and it said individual was 5’7″… that’s TOO TALL.
Then it went to 5’3″… EXACTLY!!!
Then reading the story, it mentioned a girlfriend… (STRIKE ONE)
Then his age… (STRIKE TWO)
Then his Facebook photo … (STRIKE THREE)
Kevin, 😆
Wow! So much drama today must be FRIDAY da 13th! Way to go HPD book’um! Any one know if scrimmage will be at grass area or Ching Field???
Mahalo, everyone!
lol @ my niece… always exaggerating… “shootout”. Sorry, guys. Just wanted to make sure that everyone in the area was safe.
And now we return you to your regularly scheduled program…
Thought the same as many of you. Maybe ST needs to delete any post that makes reference to this event.
Welcome #37 Joel Ragsdale!
Hoping to see updates from the scrimmage. Decided the cloud build-up looked too heavy….
Thanks SJ.
Ralph…Hawaiian Studies is more towards KaneWai Park .
Checked in w/ST, scrimmage is at Ching Field.
Drizzling. WAS overcast, kinda cleared up now.
Thanks BigWave #112 for the scoop on mystery player.
Impressive. Rachael, that is…
Kevin,
Clearing skies, eh?
The loud cracks not going be from tunda den! Wooo-tah!
Aluminum bats clink…
Going get aluminum bats at the scrimmage? 😯
Wow, das hard core!
@160 Kevin thanks for location of scrimmage! Any idea what time it will start?
….
…..
……
Dang! I left before four to go to the post office (metered drop off) and to make a quick delivery in the Moanalua/Salt Lake area … after which, I tried to head towards UH but Dillingham was a really bad choice. It was 5pm by the time I got to Kalihi Street, so I turned left and came back home.
MIH I got there exactly at 5pm in time to catch last 20 minutes!
Oh well, got my $6 back on the way out 🙂
hmmmm…strange sight at 5pm…
saw a hang glider land among buildings at Ala Wai and
Hobron Lane…and several scoot away across the street
as if it was a planned you toob prank…
mo…
LOL…
Did you enjoy your 20 minutes? Must have been the 2nd team.
I think so too…didn’t matter though the coaches are very very animated. It’ll probably be the only time I’ll be able to catch anything prior to the first game this fall. I had a hard time recognizing players and numbers as well but no matter. Go Warriors!
I guess we’ll just have to await ST’s reports from todays scrimmage later on…
I’d be the same way… I can’t figure out who is who until much later in the season. I get them all mixed up if they haven’t been starters from the previous year.
so i am wondering if the 3rd base dugout troll will show face tonight???
if he does, will someone collect the $200?
Are you at practice, al?
Will time prove him to truly be a Wise man?
http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/Another_UH_mens_basketball_player_leaving_program.html?id=147411605
so who is surprised that trevor wiseman is also leaving?
wiseman came with a reported attitude and he leaves with one.
not being named a starter has plagued this youngboo man for two years. his being close buds with bobby miles may have also contributed to his leaving.
meanwhile, at least two recruits will visit next weekend one a pg and another a redshirt transfer who averaged 36 ppg in hs. then, there’s rumor of another european.
mih…no, i missed the scrimmage i was near your domain this afternoon and just got back.
in hindsight, i should’ve picked up some food from pake’s. thoughts of the stuffed taro duck will now haunt me through the night…
…quack.
hmmm….where did this come from “youngboo”?
gibber has to sharpen his pencil these days.
he has been able to ink many talented guys but keeping them here and getting them in has been an insumountable chore.
sometimes you have to start with a recruits’ character, then academics, before you even fall in love with the physical attributes. quite a learning curve for the new coach.
i think after this year he gets it.
heh.. you were here and I was stuck in Kalihi.. Friday the 13th.. At least I stopped by at St Germain’s and had a cream-filled pastry to punish myself.
what no guava chiffon cake?
ensiemada?
I like stuffed duck too–but am now consuming some lettuce wraps from CPK thanks to a gift card from big Sis! 🙂
i like pf chang’s lettuce wraps.
did you know if they still have that 50% off pupus during happy hour?
Windward Mall food court showing hula, not baseball, so I’m watching a movie. 🙁
Nah.. I just picked up an oblong dream cake.. gonna enjoy an early birthday cake.. yep..

here’s the link again
http://www.hawaiiathletics.com/news/2012/4/13/FB_0413123942.aspx
so, the irony of it all is that keith shamburger wants to transfer to hawaii. part of the reason was because he knew bobby miles and trevor wiseman. now that they have both departed…?
some old talk of wiseman and shamburger getting in to it high school.
Wahine up 6-0 after 4 innings.
voted. Go Steph and the Softbows
I am not crazy about coaches whose teams are all full of malcontents. Everyone is to blame except coach Gib Arnold. I’m not buying it.
Well pau game for the softball bows 9 to 1 in the bottom of the sixth inning on Li’ilii 2 run homer to end the game.
I think it goes both ways for Coach Gibb and the players who are transferring out. It is unfortunate for these players to not be able to suck it up and learn some valuable lessons of commitment and never take the route chosen. To quit is never a good choice because things are not going your way. It becomes troublesome whenever there is adversity because it may be come a consistent choice.
Woohoo Wahine! Vote Steph!
UH is bringing in five basketball recruits next week.
I’m pretty sure there are only two available scholarships, right?
Maybe it’s a Law & Order thing: First two who accept get the scholies.
The wahines were hitting tonight and although there were 4 homers 2 by Majam, it was their ability to get on base via singles and walks. Great game.
Any O-line guys?
Oops! Oh my still in FB frame if mind here. You meant BB recruits…
mo808..
No shame, we knew you meant tall BIG overweight BB players that could try out for the Oline, come summer.
Benny Fonua made the trek again from the North Shore to attend today’s scrimmage.
I can definitely see Benny being a great player host with potential prospects….as he was already bonding with Downey High (Modesto) QB prospect Aaron Zwahlen after today’s scrimmage.
Aaron still around? He gave an interview with his town paper so I thought he had gone back already..
Here’s a summary of today’s scrimmage by “intensity”. You’ll need your scout.com ID to read it… Less Kool-Aid than UH’s write-up.

BTW, JMHO that Tavita Woodard played so well at today’s scrimmage that the coaches will keep him at TE on offense.
Off of what he displayed today, I just don’t see Tavita going back to DE anytime soon.
Kapakahi..
Who was #37 on Defense?
st, thanks for the stats. running game had about 100 yds in 15 plays, a little over 6 yds per carry and the passing game had 150 yds in 15 plays, 10 yds per pass and 3 tds for the run and 2 for the pass. not too shabby.
Nice to see Ostrowski getting some touches.
How many of the 8 incompletions were intended for the Wideout? (1 completion)
Baseb 🙂 ws!
Whitey.. that’s 100 yards in 25 plays for rushing and that’s 207 yard on 15 receptions on 23 pass attempts. So that breaks down to 4 yards a carry per rush.. and 13.8 yards per reception with a 65% comletions ratio.
mih, not good math and going blame the tax deadline. hahahahaaa. i not sure but think #37 is one moose of a lb and his sis is cute.
Congrats to the Wahine and basebows
Mih – “Wrath if the Titans”. Liked the first one better.
*of – fat fingers strike again
I thought the one with the cute sister studying kenesiology was Ragsdale, a RB… but that there is another 37 on Defense?
mih, read that he was the mvp of brian urlacher’s camp, so assume he lb.
mih, this is what i read:
“2008 graduate of Cherry Creek High School in Colorado. He played linebacker and averaged 13 tackles per game.
Was named Team’s “Hammer” for being the hardest hitter and also All-Conference in both his Junior and Senior years. Top 10 SAC (strength agility conditioning ) test all 4 years at his High School. Attended a Brian Urlacher Summer Ccamp and won camp MVP award.” from SportsHawaii
whitey I saw that.. but at the very top of that thread it says..
Joel Ragsdale
#37
Class: Senior
Position: Running Back
HT/WT: 6’ 0’’ / 225 lbs
And yesterday, it was hinted that we would see another on Defense…
Not many catches from the outside receivers…that’s a little scary
And I’m pretty sure that’s without our top two corners
Long routes need good pass pro.
That’ll come.
#37 on defense is a local boy who will be revealed after midnight on Sportshawaii.
And no his last name is not Hanohano.
Coaches want to have Ragsdale try out at fullback.
Like Jared Leaf and Jordan Monico, Ragdale can play both FB and LB.
Thing is he has only this season left.
Sad to see Darius Bright still sporting the Yellow Jersey.
So curious to see what a healthy Darius can do
Ostrowski, Minns, Lutu, Enos, Brown, all on the football team may have more bball game appearances combined than the remaining players under Gib
Mystery man #37 on defense is:

BigWave96744 thanks for link on mystery player #37!
Good Saturday “People”! Off to work…
Great Morning All!
Thanks BigWave! Nice to see Kapa back on the field.
mahalo bigwave.
good morning tsaikos and have a great day.
Aloha Kakahiaka another great weekend…go LadyBows and Rainbow Warriors….sorry to see the players exodus the basketball team. This has to be a concern for the program with Coach Gibb’s ability to have the right chemistry with his staff and players. I hope no one else decides to leave.
Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.
Thanks for the great info, y’all. good perspectives, good reads. hoping was not all good vibes only. hopefully was all straight stuff.
i liked it. i liked it. thanks
BigWave will be providing us with the scoops on fellow FB walk-on #20 in the near future too.
BTW, noticed that #35 FB Jared Leaf was MIA from yesterday’s scrimmage.
BTW, #31 P Alex Dunnachie was really booming his punts yesterday….’cuz the coaches “let him” (his words not mine)….implying that the former coaches apparently didn’t “let him”.
Judging from the stats, this is going to be a well balanced offense. Look at the rushing yards and touchdowns, more specifically that of Will Gregory and John Lister. Base ST’s reports, Chow liked these players and his confidence was proven in the scrimmage stats. In the Run N Shoot, these players could not find playing time because maybe they were poor blockers. In the Chow offense, they are allowed to do what they do best, run to daylight!
So, was the offense that good or was the defense marginal?
Most of the rushing yards were between the tackles….behind the OL which was definitely getting a pretty good push on the DL….which didn’t happen the last 2 years (with Meatoga, Tuipulotu & Masch).
Aloha kakahiaka!
Go Wahine!
