the reason UH didn’t call a timeout was they didn’t have one left.
the scoreboard operator/scorekeepers screwed up.
UH and Nevada had 1 each with a few minutes left. Hiram got trapped near halfcourt and had to call a TO. for some reason, they docked nevada for the timeout, and it showed on the scoreboard.
i’m thinking UH knew they didn’t have a TO and didn’t want to get called for a chris webber or have to deal with the incompetent refs and argue it out.
i still think the ball needs to get into flemings’ hands to end the game. he’s more agressive and more confident with his moves. at least get a foul. don’t fade away.
oh well. that’s how our whole season has gone so far. they’ve vastly improved since the beginning of the season. at least we know we can beat them. we have 4 more wac games left. 3 on the road. we need to win at least 2. against fresno and san jose to stay out of that play in game. then we get another shot in reno at the wac tourney.

roysan16, I never disputed anything tom said except the statement he made that his tournament was her “first start as a pro”. that is incorrect roysan, as I pointed out earlier, she turned pro at the samsung in 2005.

if a golfer is out of the top 80 then its back to q school and then the person has to finish in the top 17

what she was hoping to do in the past was to get her touring card thru being the top 90 on the money lists-and that didn’t work

so she went to q school this past december and got exempt status this year

Larry Little update.

“We come back to Winchester every year for our family reunion,” said Little, who lives in Las Vegas with his wife of 45 years, Diana.

But I didn’t notice they credited it to Nevada; I just figured they had none left, and didn’t bother to look at the scoreboard again. I think Nevada was supposed to have two left, so if the scoreboard said one, then that makes sense.

d1: From NCAApublications.com, for games where 3+ media timeouts per half are utilized (like UH games, where there are four per half), each team gets four 30-second timeouts, but only up to three may be carried into the second half. You also get one 60-second timeout to be used at any time. And the media timeouts happen on the first dead ball after the 16-, 12-, 8-, and 4-minute marks in each half.

The NCAA violations at Eastern Washington were pretty hard to miss! Having 15 coaches when the NCAA only allows 11?

The report cites 13 non-qualifying players (ineligible for a season) during a four-year period who took part in “practice-related” activities. That means they weren’t wearing shoulder pads and going through seven-on-seven drills. Clearly, somebody knew they weren’t supposed to be practicing, and they weren’t. But Eastern allowed them to do other peripheral things, wrongly so.

Almost laughable is the passage on “countable coaches,” the report noting that Eastern had 15 — exceeding the NCAA limit of 11 — during the 2004 and 2006 seasons, conjuring an image of a bulging staff with its feet up on desks in swank offices with flat-screen TVs.

There, Eastern ran afoul of legislation that student assistants must be enrolled full time. Several weren’t, bloating the numbers.

So who are the final two?

The compliance officer at WSU will have to watch Paul Wuff a little closer than Eastern Washington did!

Sorry to have started an argument by being Inarticulate but when I said Michelle first start as a pro, I meant a card-carrying pro.

In the case of Ji Yai Shi, she won all those events in foreign countries and the US as a member of the KLPGA (Korean LPGA) but as she now a LPGA card carrier, she is regarded as a “rookie” by the LPGA.

It is somewhat like a doctor who is educated and trained and has practiced in a foreign country who is not qualified to practice medicine in the US until he/she is properly licensed to do so in the US.

Sorry I made the comment but all of this seems to be arguing about apples and oranges.

Tom, i agree with what you stated, “card carrying pro”. actually, i am sorry to have responded to your comment and to appear to cause you much grief. for me, details and facts are very important as in everyday life, incorrect documentation/facts can be very costly financially. If you could not interpret my inital comments, i will apologize for not being more concise in my explanation.

NCAA allows a football team to have 11 coaches and 1 grad assistant.

Does it also dictate what positions 10 coaches must be “titled”? We all know that 1 will be the “head coach”.

How is it that Eastern Washington get the “bomb” and the big time schools have many “coaches” on staff, but no penalties? Its like one BCS school has “special parking for football players”, but it’s against the rule for UH because it would be discrimnatory.

A-House: They aren’t supposed to be able to. Can have a weight (strength and conditioning) coach and any number of undergraduate coaches (but they had to have suffered a playing career-ending injury). Only the national service academies can hire four additional coaches.

Note that people like Tony Tuioti (“Director of Football Player Personnel”) are not coaches. There are limitations to what they can do.

Mei Ling — Genji’s was almost empty tonight and Tina was off. They wanted Peaches and I to sing in the main lounge–kinda disturbing to think that Peaches and I looked at each other and thought a moment before asking for the small room… that’s Russ and Pam’s influence on us. 😉

Dinner and everything was very different with someone besides Tina serving us. Usually we sit down–Tina brings my water and checks Peaches for Oolong Tea or water, asks if I want chicken katsu and checks Peaches for shrimp tempura or fried chicken. Brings the karaoke books automatically. Tonight, we had to articulate our orders.

We sang around 20 songs before and after dinner, trying songs I used to regard as too difficult. Spoke to cousin Gaye–gave her the latest estimate for this Saturday and she didn’t blink–she’s seen us overrun the place 4 times already and close it 20 times, so no big thing….as long as not everybody tries to order food at the same time. 😐

Super games

It is fun and games, now, by all appearances with one team winning a dodge ball event last week. But below the surface the coaches are hoping some good character building comes out of these games that will spill over into spring ball, summer workouts, fall camp and into the season.

I’ve read where last week 10 teams of UH Warriors with each team consisting of 10 players competed in super games.

People take one look and say…oh it’s a dodge ball game, but I see, and I’d venture to say that the coaches see the same thing of how these games promote good fellow ship, unity, motivation and discipline.

Right off, I can see how having these games develops leaders within the teams. And one can see that the coaches are hoping that this leadership carryover into the upcoming season.

How the members of teams tallied up their points is the key to these games. It reinforces the concept of all the players must be on the same page…much like in an actual football game.

For in essence accumulating points takes a lot of team work, where points were given to the team that won the event…but it was the overall points that determined the winner.

Whereas deduction of points from players on a team that were delinquent in their workouts or school work hindered a team . It is hope that the leaders of the teams applying peer pressure onto the members that tie down a team reinforces team unity and discipline. And much like what is need when the Warrior prepare for the season.

The outcome of the Super games is that character building is stimulated, leadership emerged and unity further incorporated…and that all of this befittingly transcends into the upcoming football season.

I wouldn’t attempt to ride anything but a big draft horse these days. I actually did spend a lot of time on a gray appaloosa in my youth. His name was Blackjack, and he was a smart, evil and mischievous horse. He used to pull all kinds of stunts to try and unseat his riders.

I repeat, does the NCAA dictate to a school HOW to dole out the 9 assistant positions allowed under their rule and the job description must contain specific words or clauses?

Or, does the school determine what the 9 positions will be labeled and content of the job description?

For example, grad assistant will work with wide receivers or all receivers; assistant coach will be called defensive line coach.

With only 9 assistant coaches authorized, seems that “jobs” can be dual tracked – ie, defensive coorinator and defensive backs coach wrapped into one(1); offensive coordiantor and QB or running back coach; defensive line and defensive tackles or ends coach as one thus allowing more individuals to fill the other 7 positions. Or, has it evolved into such a complicated situation that it’s necessary to split the position?

One year, I was the Company Commander, Executive Officer, Admin Officer, Supply Officer, Fire & Safety Officer, Mess Officer and Training Officer because I was not authorized , by US Army regulations, to have additional bodies to fill those positions.

Perhaps someone at the University should be talking to the Legislature in removing all university or college “coaching” positions from the union and State hiring guidelines making it easier for Head Coaches to hire replacements. This represents a very miniscule % of State employee positions. Would be interesting to see what position HEGA takes.

I got to see the Budweiser Clydesdales in Flagstaff a couple of years ago. Henry was my favorite horse on the team. They are humongous, but good tempered.

My hunnie used to have an appaloosa named Jeronimo. He was stabled at Jason Kidd’s dad’s barn in Oakland. My sweetie said that when Jason was a young boy (about 8 y.o.), he was more interested in soccer & baseball.

I used to take the spiral to the upper level but now use the stairs. It is a lot quicker but more steep. I would rather get the pain over with than prolong it with the long walk.
