Gordie Shaw?

Well, he was visiting the islands the past week.

Former UH cornerback Ryan Keomaka has signed a professional contract — with Disney, as a dancer. Keomaka is a talented Polynesian dancer who once performed at Merrie Monarch.

Not sure what you got your family for Valentine’s. But thanks to Jon Nielsen, I got mine a backstage photo op with Boyz II Men.

Also at the post-concert gathering, thanks to Nielsen and Big Ben, were Chad Owens, Vince Manuwai, Tala Esera, Craig Stutzmann, Maa Tanuvasa, Afatia Thompson and Kanoa Leahey. (Note to editors: We all paid for our tickets.) Inoke Funaki and his girlfriend left after the concert. He had to get up early for church today. And, of course, the lovely Lori from Panda Travel also was there. Here’s Manuwai (with my daughter’s boyfriend):

  26. chawan_cut February 15, 2009 10:07 am

    Rob25, BigWave,
the reason UH didn’t call a timeout was they didn’t have one left.
    the scoreboard operator/scorekeepers screwed up.
UH and Nevada had 1 each with a few minutes left. Hiram got trapped near halfcourt and had to call a TO. for some reason, they docked nevada for the timeout, and it showed on the scoreboard.
i’m thinking UH knew they didn’t have a TO and didn’t want to get called for a chris webber or have to deal with the incompetent refs and argue it out.
i still think the ball needs to get into flemings’ hands to end the game. he’s more agressive and more confident with his moves. at least get a foul. don’t fade away.
oh well. that’s how our whole season has gone so far. they’ve vastly improved since the beginning of the season. at least we know we can beat them. we have 4 more wac games left. 3 on the road. we need to win at least 2. against fresno and san jose to stay out of that play in game. then we get another shot in reno at the wac tourney.

  27. jm2375 February 15, 2009 10:16 am

    Good morning Tsai-kos!!

    Looks like a nice day.

Congrats to Ryan! Where will he be going – Orlando, LA, Tokyo?

  28. Kazz February 15, 2009 10:31 am

    Chawan,

I am 1-5 in my “BOWS BFOR H*S” shirt. I can’t help wearing it. It’s a good conversation starter with da ladies. 😆

Despite Parghlava’s turn over at the end and the mistep by Flemings throwing the ball over Nitoto’s range out of bounds, the missed free throws did us in.

STILL I have no clue why Brandon Adams’ play time diminished in the second half. We needed him down the stretch.

  29. Kazz February 15, 2009 10:36 am

    Chawan,

That wasn’t the first time the scoreboard people messed up the stats. I remember Coach Nash’s first home game last season and with 10 seconds left we needed a basket to tie at the end of regulation and we just inbounded the ball and everyone was screaming for Nash to call a time out as the scoreboard read 1 TO left for UH.

The reality was that there were NO timeouts left for us at that point.

    Or maybe the scoreboard sucks?

Blame First Hawaiian Bank. 😆 Maybe they perceive the scoreboard as a “cost center” thus donating the LEAST amount of money possible to have it as a fully functional piece of equipment. (ok that’s my work rant for the day..)

what tom said is not wrong

    1. he said turning pro/ declaring herself a pro doesn’t automatically make the pro golfer a tour player
    2. in the past michelle played on a sponsors exemption
    3. this recent tournament was her first with a tour card thru q-school

    these are all true

roysan16, I never disputed anything tom said except the statement he made that his tournament was her “first start as a pro”. that is incorrect roysan, as I pointed out earlier, she turned pro at the samsung in 2005.

as pro golfer with now with her first touring card she is refered as a rookie

    this is true

I’ll add that for michelle or any other golfer retaining a tour card she has to finish in the top 80 to retain her tour card for the following year

if a golfer is out of the top 80 then its back to q school and then the person has to finish in the top 17

in the past she had nonexempt status meaning she had 10 free passes or sponsors exemptions a year

what she was hoping to do in the past was to get her touring card thru being the top 90 on the money lists-and that didn’t work

so she went to q school this past december and got exempt status this year

yes, roysan16, no disagreements by your above statements, things I knew already. all I wanted to clear up was that this was not her first start as a pro, thats it.

  34. FloridaTed February 15, 2009 11:58 am

Good afternoon, Tsaiko Nation and Tsai-Meister.

Another heart breaker for the BB team, but winning is an art and has to be learned. Michelle is getting closer. Lately, they do seem to learn from their mistakes, let’s hope they’ll learn enough in time for the WAC tournament.

You mean Lucas? Is Jake back in Hawaii?

  37. TOM February 15, 2009 2:04 pm

Sorry to have started an argument by being Inarticulate but when I said Michelle first start as a pro, I meant a card-carrying pro.

In the case of Ji Yai Shi, she won all those events in foreign countries and the US as a member of the KLPGA (Korean LPGA) but as she now a LPGA card carrier, she is regarded as a “rookie” by the LPGA.

It is somewhat like a doctor who is educated and trained and has practiced in a foreign country who is not qualified to practice medicine in the US until he/she is properly licensed to do so in the US.

Sorry I made the comment but all of this seems to be arguing about apples and oranges.

This mock draft suggests that Miami draft Percy Harvin and put Bess on the bench.

    25. Miami Dolphins – Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
With both Maybin and Sintim off the board, the Dolphins miss on their 3-4 OLB. They could look at Larry English, but with Florida product Percy Harvin still on the board, and a team who loves to use wild offensive formations, this pick looks like a match made in heaven. Davone Bess was a solid receiver last season, but Harvin and Ginn together would provide some serious fireworks and for a quarterback like Chad Pennington who is known for his accuracy rather than his arm strength this is a perfect pick. All Chad has to do is throw screen passes and let Harvin do his stuff.

  51. Garret February 15, 2009 3:10 pm

The same mock draft has Veikune going at the end of the 4th round.

    127. Arizona Cardinals – David Veikune, DE/OLB, Hawaii
People say Veikune reminds them of Travis LaBoy. Both went to Hawaii, both can play DE or OLB and both could be on the Cardinals.

  52. addahknowjoe February 15, 2009 3:11 pm

    OK, so check this-

At last night’s basketball I overheard a few women voicing their disappointment that toilets in the Sheriff’s Women Restrooms had no toilet seats on them. They begrudgingly had to use the facility by either putting a sanitary toilet seat protector directly onto the rim of the toilet or summoned their leg strength and “squat hover” the toilet.

Aiyah! What’s up with that? That must have been an awkward and inconvenient conversation for a few Valentine couples last night.

Just curious ladies- are the toilets in the Sheriff designed like those all in one metal units found in prisons that don’t have a flap up seat? Or are they porcelain ones with the flipped up seats removed?

Rich Sheriff- we need to take care of this, please. Mahalo.

  53. Garret February 15, 2009 3:13 pm

Another article is positive towards Veikune. However, I don’t know why they only mention Veikune’s senior year when he had such a good Junior year also!

During his senior year, Hawaii’s David Veikune showed off his ability to get into the opponent’s backfield, logging an impressive nine sacks and 16.5 tackles for a loss.

Admired for his work ethic in the weight room and on the field, the 6-foot-2, 255-pound defensive end is a humble and quiet person who was quick to share the credit for his performance.

“It’s really a tribute to the great coaching that I’ve gotten both in Hawaii and Colorado,” he told Scout.com this week. “I’ve had four of five different position coaches, and I’ve just tried to take everything that I’ve learned from them and put it out there on the field.”

Veikune, who was originally a redshirt freshman at the University of Colorado, spent a year at Fresno City College before heading to the University of Hawaii for his sophomore season. And while he notched seven sacks during his junior year, he didn’t become a full-time starter until the 2008 season. With the right coaching at the next level, he should continue to build upon his success.

“The NFL has the best coaches in the land, and I can’t wait to start working with them,” he said. ” I know I’ll learn some new techniques from them, and I’ll continue to get stronger and faster.

“I’m a versatile player and a guy who just wants to keep getting better to help his team win.”

  54. Garret February 15, 2009 3:17 pm

Ken Margerum update. Funny how the Stanford star is coaching at Cal, and parents of recruits he’s trying to get to Cal ask him about his opinion on Stanford.

“I take coaching as a totally different career than playing,” says Margerum, who is entering his second season as the Bears’ receivers coach. “It doesn’t matter what color the uniform is. Berkeley’s a great school and a great place to live.

“I don’t get too involved in all the extracurriculars. I owe my whole career to Stanford and Bill Walsh. But it’s great to cut my coaching teeth at Cal.”

One of the greatest players in Stanford history has a blue sign on his desk that says, “Beat Stanford.” He walks around Berkeley with a Stanford alumni tag on his key ring. The day he took the job, he went out and bought blue and gold sneakers. His wife, Joy, is an assistant track coach for the Bears. What gives?

Except for parents of Southern California recruits, who remember Margerum from his playing days at Huntington Beach High School and Stanford. And since the Bears and Cardinal often recruit the same players, he is asked about both schools.

Eventually, Margerum became an assistant coach at Hawaiian Prep Academy and installed the West Coast offense. From there, his coaching career accelerated. He joined Fred Von Appen’s staff at the University of Hawaii, then accepted the head coaching post at Menlo College, a non-scholarship Division II program in Atherton, a few miles from Stanford’s campus. Menlo’s athletic director: Craig Walsh, Bill’s son.

The patriarch attended many a Menlo game. “Coach Walsh said to me, ‘You’re one of the last guys who played the game who’s going to coach it,'” Margerum recalls. “He thinks because there’s so much money for players, that they don’t have the desire necessary to recruit and coach.”

Menlo was 0-9 the season before Margerum arrived. It was 5-5 his first year, in 1997, and averaged 407 yards per game with the West Coast attack.

  55. Garret February 15, 2009 3:20 pm

    Larry Little update.

“We come back to Winchester every year for our family reunion,” said Little, who lives in Las Vegas with his wife of 45 years, Diana.

“I was the youngest of 13 kids. We’ll have our 40th annual Little golf tournament (during the reunion) in August, and I’m very proud of that.”

Little’s teams went a combined 100-33 over his five seasons before he took the coaching job at Hawaii for 1976-77.

But Hawaii wasn’t exactly paradise for a college recruiter.

“I can’t imagine a tougher job right at that time,” Little said. “It was the start of the growth of the Big East. Before, Hawaii had done a good job of getting New York City kids. So many of them wanted to get out.

“Then schools like St. John’s and Georgetown started getting TV exposure, and it killed our recruitment. Hawaii’s nice, but it was a tough job to get high school kids.”

Little resigned after the 1985 season, but he stayed in Hawaii for four more years as executive director of the Hula Bowl, an all-star college football game. But he and Diana eventually decided to return to the mainland.

    “We finally picked Las Vegas

  59. Jason February 15, 2009 3:58 pm

chawan_cut: Thank you for confirming what I remembered. I thought UH had one timeout when Hiram called that last one. But I didn’t notice they credited it to Nevada; I just figured they had none left, and didn’t bother to look at the scoreboard again. I think Nevada was supposed to have two left, so if the scoreboard said one, then that makes sense.

d1: From NCAApublications.com, for games where 3+ media timeouts per half are utilized (like UH games, where there are four per half), each team gets four 30-second timeouts, but only up to three may be carried into the second half. You also get one 60-second timeout to be used at any time. And the media timeouts happen on the first dead ball after the 16-, 12-, 8-, and 4-minute marks in each half.

In other words, you get five timeouts, but if you don’t use one of your 30s in the first half, you lose it. Thus, you can have no more than four timeouts in the second half, three 30s and one 60.

The NCAA violations at Eastern Washington mean that their players can transfer and play immediately…U-Dub wants to get a few of their WRs. I wonder if Washington State’s coach will try to get his former players to join his team for the 2009 season? The NCAA violations he oversaw at his previous school could boost his new one…and those players already know his system. That would help them early in the season…and they play UH early in the season.

Eastern’s football program was put on three years’ probation and hit with a one-year ban from postseason play on Wednesday as part of penalties for repeated violations of NCAA rules from 2003-07. In addition, former head coach Paul Wulff was prohibited from having any contact with his current team at Washington State during the first three days of preseason drills next August.

Now his successor at EWU, Beau Baldwin, is sweating out not only the penalties but a potential side effect.

NCAA rules allow players in programs that have been hit with a postseason ban to transfer and be immediately eligible to play at another university, providing their years of remaining eligibility do not exceed the duration of the postseason ban. In Eastern’s case, that includes 18 seniors-to-be.

Baldwin confirmed Friday that representatives of the University of Washington athletic department contacted EWU associate athletic director Don Ross, the department’s NCAA compliance officer, regarding the possible recruitment of Eagles wide receivers Aaron Boyce and Brynsen Brown.

While acknowledging that “we all know it’s within the rules,” Baldwin is unhappy with UW’s approach.

  81. Garret February 15, 2009 5:55 pm

The NCAA violations at Eastern Washington were pretty hard to miss! Having 15 coaches when the NCAA only allows 11?

The report cites 13 non-qualifying players (ineligible for a season) during a four-year period who took part in “practice-related” activities. That means they weren’t wearing shoulder pads and going through seven-on-seven drills. Clearly, somebody knew they weren’t supposed to be practicing, and they weren’t. But Eastern allowed them to do other peripheral things, wrongly so.

Almost laughable is the passage on “countable coaches,” the report noting that Eastern had 15 — exceeding the NCAA limit of 11 — during the 2004 and 2006 seasons, conjuring an image of a bulging staff with its feet up on desks in swank offices with flat-screen TVs.

There, Eastern ran afoul of legislation that student assistants must be enrolled full time. Several weren’t, bloating the numbers.

  82. Garret February 15, 2009 5:55 pm

Kani didn’t make the final 2? Wow…I guess UH had a lot of excellent candidates!

And who was Gordie Shaw talking to?

  88. TOM February 15, 2009 6:37 pm

KEKOA: Sorry, my interest in golf is more in the architecture of the course and not in the players. The interest is not professional but more in how and why the course was designed in a certain manner.

Microsoft had a software program where the user could design a golf course. Was more fun than reading law books.

If Gordie is indeed one of the finalists:

    Hawai’i > South Dakota

If Kani wasn’t one of the two finalists, then I echo some Garret’s opinion that there must have been some really good candidates vying for the job…..or at least that’s how it comes off as.

Tom, i agree with what you stated, “card carrying pro”. actually, i am sorry to have responded to your comment and to appear to cause you much grief. for me, details and facts are very important as in everyday life, incorrect documentation/facts can be very costly financially. If you could not interpret my inital comments, i will apologize for not being more concise in my explanation.

    hiya LizK 😀

wuz reading a bunch of earlier entries from ST, over the past month.
noticed that Ron Lee went to Oklahoma City, where he got that outstanding all Okalhoma City, top O recruit. noticed Brian Smith went to Samoa, got the top Samoan recruit. reminded me Coach and Heather taking Hawaiian language classes now. and how he told the Keliikipi kid he was all good with his decision to go, will always be a fan..

i gotta say that I am becoming a greater admirer of Coach Mack, and the coaches who chose him to lead us forward! we just gotta back this man up, with action and deed.

    You go, Coach! Great job!

NCAA allows a football team to have 11 coaches and 1 grad assistant.

Does it also dictate what positions 10 coaches must be “titled”? We all know that 1 will be the “head coach”.

How is it that Eastern Washington get the “bomb” and the big time schools have many “coaches” on staff, but no penalties? Its like one BCS school has “special parking for football players”, but it’s against the rule for UH because it would be discrimnatory.

And that’s the reason for the limited posts this evening.

  140. Jason February 15, 2009 9:54 pm

A-House: For FBS (I-A) teams, you are limited to a head coach, nine assistants, and two graduate assistants. Eastern Washington is an FCS (1-AA) team, which is limited to 11 coaches “of any type.”

  148. LizKauai [iMac] BELIEVER February 15, 2009 10:03 pm

ST- try this- and if it doesn’t work- you might want to go to ER…

Have Wena or one of the kids get a clean, green ti leaf (I hope some are growing in your yard). Wash it with water and dry it. Take a spoon and gently scrape the shiny side to release the chlorophyll. Take a Qtip and soak it in the green juice. Put the Qtip in your nose. It should stop the bleeding immediately or within a minute if the condition is minor.

I had an altitude nosebleed when driving to Denver once. It bled for hours and I couldn’t sleep. The people we visited kept a bottle of liquid chlorophyll in their med cabinet. The nosebleed stopped immediately.

  149. Cindy (Cenn) February 15, 2009 10:03 pm

  154. myki February 15, 2009 10:08 pm

    Stephen,

Sit down, pinch your nose for 10 minutes by the clock. Do not release presure to check to see if it is still bleeding until 10 minutes have passed. If it continues to bleed I would check it out at the ER.

It usually stopped for us when I was still working.

  155. SteveM February 15, 2009 10:09 pm

ST — unless you have nose bleeds at other times, consider going to the emergency room of your favorite hospital tonight. This cough thing you have may or may not affect your sinuses but nose bleed is bad if your nose is plugged.

Going emergency is not as dramatic as it sounds…quick diagnosis, imaging, treatment and you might be out in hours if not too bad.

  170. Kekoa February 15, 2009 10:26 pm

A-House: They aren’t supposed to be able to. Can have a weight (strength and conditioning) coach and any number of undergraduate coaches (but they had to have suffered a playing career-ending injury). Only the national service academies can hire four additional coaches.

Note that people like Tony Tuioti (“Director of Football Player Personnel”) are not coaches. There are limitations to what they can do.

The ideal maximum weight for a horse’s back is 169 lbs. (per Dr. Deb, a horse anthropologist.) A heavier rider can strain the horse’s back and cause them to be sway-backed. That’s why my sweetie is working on losing weight.

I have had to resort to nasal cauterization to stop a bleeding blood vessel.
Not so painful but kinda ewwww….

  184. d1島 February 15, 2009 11:26 pm

Does the MGM Grand banner ad at the top of the WB indicate the editorial leanings of the HA in the current legalization discussion going on at the Legislature?

  185. d1島 February 15, 2009 11:28 pm

Is recruiting coaches similar to player recruirtng in that you schedule the interview with the guy you really want last?

  186. addahknowjoe February 15, 2009 11:29 pm

    ST-

Go to your doctor and get your nasal passage cauterized. You’ve got a weak lining that will constantly bleed on you.

Now the procedure will probably run you $80 out of pocket (that’s after what Summerlin will cover)

I can do it for you for a cold pack and a pound of poke from Alicia’s.

Just a heads up- I’m a little rusty but, just tell me which nasal passage is the bleeder and I’ll do a quick dry run in the other one first.

    Shoots! Lemme know.

  187. MeiLing February 15, 2009 11:30 pm

The kids in the Hawaiian club started calling me “Auntie” & I was taken aback initially till I figahed out they were being respectful. Instead of just calling me by my first name, they added Auntie _____ . Sounded strange since I didn’t have any nieces & nephews in Flagpole.

ST ~ Cool towel on the forehead, lie down. What did they recommend at the pharmacy? Did you take your meds today?

    SteveM ~ How was Genji’s?

    heheheh)

A-Joe check your email box, I may need your expertise in a special case I’m working on right now.

Unlike HA employees, I can pay off in Poke and a 12 pack.

  195. jm2375 February 15, 2009 11:46 pm

d1 – Cafe W!!! nah, I’ve visited Walgreens for Rx too. No wait, especially at 7am. However, I’ve moved all our chronic meds to mail order. Save money!! 🙂

  201. SteveM February 16, 2009 12:58 am

Mei Ling — Genji’s was almost empty tonight and Tina was off. They wanted Peaches and I to sing in the main lounge–kinda disturbing to think that Peaches and I looked at each other and thought a moment before asking for the small room… that’s Russ and Pam’s influence on us. 😉

Dinner and everything was very different with someone besides Tina serving us. Usually we sit down–Tina brings my water and checks Peaches for Oolong Tea or water, asks if I want chicken katsu and checks Peaches for shrimp tempura or fried chicken. Brings the karaoke books automatically. Tonight, we had to articulate our orders.

We sang around 20 songs before and after dinner, trying songs I used to regard as too difficult. Spoke to cousin Gaye–gave her the latest estimate for this Saturday and she didn’t blink–she’s seen us overrun the place 4 times already and close it 20 times, so no big thing….as long as not everybody tries to order food at the same time. 😐

    Aloha Kakahiaka!

Hope I can get through the Aloha Fun Run route later to pick up kalua pig from Kanak Attack. My nephew was selling tickets for his summer soccer league.

    Al,

It was low-cal fun at the art Academy. As part of Black Heritage month, there was a performer from Houston playing Harriet Tubman. Met friends from the NAACP. Viewed some of the galleries. Listened to a lecture by a Nigerian artist. Sat in the garden cafe having a cup of coffee & watched a toddler get fished out of the fountain by his mom. I would have gone to the opera afterwards, but they didn’t have any lower priced tickets available.

  217. MeiLing February 16, 2009 8:37 am

    SteveM,

I think I’ll practice using my Mom’s karaoke mic. Not quite the same songs, but to warm up the vocal chords, it works. I’ve had a slight cold, though. Looking forward to hearing las vegas & other Tsaikos.

We should talk about season tickets with LizK this weekend.

  218. Momo February 16, 2009 8:38 am

Bolla got in to trouble with his coaching style. What get him in this problem is that he swear and cuss his kids. As my friend said, if you are winning games, you can get away with it, but if you are not winning, trouble lurks

  219. LizKauai [iMac] BELIEVER February 16, 2009 8:48 am

bhf2- I hope Colt is ready to get some SERIOUS looks this preseason. I believe the Redskins are poised to have a great year- or a catastrophic one – depending on some roster decisions.

    Momo- tsai…

    Super games

It is fun and games, now, by all appearances with one team winning a dodge ball event last week. But below the surface the coaches are hoping some good character building comes out of these games that will spill over into spring ball, summer workouts, fall camp and into the season.

I’ve read where last week 10 teams of UH Warriors with each team consisting of 10 players competed in super games.

People take one look and say…oh it’s a dodge ball game, but I see, and I’d venture to say that the coaches see the same thing of how these games promote good fellow ship, unity, motivation and discipline.

Right off, I can see how having these games develops leaders within the teams. And one can see that the coaches are hoping that this leadership carryover into the upcoming season.

How the members of teams tallied up their points is the key to these games. It reinforces the concept of all the players must be on the same page…much like in an actual football game.

For in essence accumulating points takes a lot of team work, where points were given to the team that won the event…but it was the overall points that determined the winner.

Whereas deduction of points from players on a team that were delinquent in their workouts or school work hindered a team . It is hope that the leaders of the teams applying peer pressure onto the members that tie down a team reinforces team unity and discipline. And much like what is need when the Warrior prepare for the season.

The outcome of the Super games is that character building is stimulated, leadership emerged and unity further incorporated…and that all of this befittingly transcends into the upcoming football season.

    ST:

Good morning, good neighbor – went out at 5am to 24Hour in Kaneohe and saw the lights on – hope everything is good with your nose bleed.

Did you post last night who the 2 finalists are for one of the O-line coach position. Is it possible that the 2 finalists will fill both open positions? Makes sense to me since both positions announced are for the O-line and Coach Mack interviewed both applicants.

Your post was actually funny, Roy. I got a chuckle out of it. No worries.

I wouldn’t attempt to ride anything but a big draft horse these days. I actually did spend a lot of time on a gray appaloosa in my youth. His name was Blackjack, and he was a smart, evil and mischievous horse. He used to pull all kinds of stunts to try and unseat his riders.

    Great Morning All!

Hoping the TSnout TSanguination TSituation was tsolved last night….

  229. A-House February 16, 2009 9:39 am

    Jason:

I repeat, does the NCAA dictate to a school HOW to dole out the 9 assistant positions allowed under their rule and the job description must contain specific words or clauses?

Or, does the school determine what the 9 positions will be labeled and content of the job description?

For example, grad assistant will work with wide receivers or all receivers; assistant coach will be called defensive line coach.

With only 9 assistant coaches authorized, seems that “jobs” can be dual tracked – ie, defensive coorinator and defensive backs coach wrapped into one(1); offensive coordiantor and QB or running back coach; defensive line and defensive tackles or ends coach as one thus allowing more individuals to fill the other 7 positions. Or, has it evolved into such a complicated situation that it’s necessary to split the position?

One year, I was the Company Commander, Executive Officer, Admin Officer, Supply Officer, Fire & Safety Officer, Mess Officer and Training Officer because I was not authorized , by US Army regulations, to have additional bodies to fill those positions.

Perhaps someone at the University should be talking to the Legislature in removing all university or college “coaching” positions from the union and State hiring guidelines making it easier for Head Coaches to hire replacements. This represents a very miniscule % of State employee positions. Would be interesting to see what position HEGA takes.

I got to see the Budweiser Clydesdales in Flagstaff a couple of years ago. Henry was my favorite horse on the team. They are humongous, but good tempered.

My hunnie used to have an appaloosa named Jeronimo. He was stabled at Jason Kidd’s dad’s barn in Oakland. My sweetie said that when Jason was a young boy (about 8 y.o.), he was more interested in soccer & baseball.

lizk….with what the redskins are paying jason campbell, i don’t forsee much playing time for colt brennan next year.

at best, he could become the back up guy and get mop up time.
unless, the starter gets hurt or really craps out week after week, he’ll still be relegated to collecting splinters.

that’s the way of the nfl, the high paid starting qb gets 95% of the minutes.

  237. koakane± February 16, 2009 10:43 am

wad up al? care to venture out to wessai this weekend and catch some bball at Han’s?

  238. al ™ February 16, 2009 10:46 am

gordie shaw….has an impressive resume, no doubt. the one thing to me is that his recruiting base is in the midwest. realistically, can one effectively recruit to hawaii those farm boys???

kani kauahi….may not have the experience as the aforementioned. but, i believe he could recruit the northwest well and locally with the lee bros. i am certain he could be a good teacher also.

keith uperesa….now there’s a surprise. has the experience and has been a successful recruiter who has done well in utah, nevada, areas. definitely could be a significant mentor and role model to our many out of town poly’s.

but, who was the other yet to be named “visitor” over the weekend. i believe that this surprise guy is the chosen one and may have all the pieces.
