Saturday ramblings
Random thoughts:
• Word on the street is that Leo Goeas would like to relocate to Hawai‘i. Hmm. Anyone else see Goeas as a candidate for the vacant UH coaching job? He has history (Kamehameha, UH grad), knowledge (played in the NFL) and contacts (he is the agent for Samson Satele and Melila Purcell). Everybody likes Leo, and he can work well with others. He could help o-line coach Brian Smith, who has deep knowledge of the June Jones-Mouse Davis version of the four-wide offense.
• The reason Davone Bess is in the NFL is because of his work ethic. I remember how he gave himself three days of rest before starting his grueling offseason workouts. He used to call up Colt Brennan to play catch. And he would always do running drills. Once, I was walking past Cooke/Ching field, and I noticed a guy attached to a parachute. That was Bess, and the parachute was used as part of his resistance training. The current Warriors probably could use more players like Davone Bess.
• Utah’s victory is nice for the little guys. But it won’t change the BCS system, just like Boise State’s victory a couple of years ago didn’t impact the big picture. When it comes to restructuring the system in a couple of years, the only thing I envision is the BCS dropping the Big East from a guaranteed berth. That would create a second at-large opening in the BCS system. And, in that scenario, I imagine the two at-large teams might pair up more often than not. Face it, the big schools don’t want to share the money and they don’t want to face mid-majors in BCS games.
• UH fans shouldn’t feel too attached to Utah’s success. Ute leaders have always made it clear that there is a vast difference — in money, success and goals — between Utah and UH. Salt Lake City hosted the Olympics. Honolulu just lost the Pro Bowl. Utah (and Colorado State) led the hush-hush breakaway from the WAC. It was the Utah AD who once referred to the UH football program as being a chihuahua. Utah is willing to take Hawai‘i’s players, but not UH’s membership. Utah’s victory over Alabama only widens its belief that it is superior to UH. Then again, things could be worse. Imagine being a BYU fan today.

first babeee!!!
ST – up early?
Leo would be a good fit for the WARRIORS.
Davonne is DA MAN!!! He earned everything he is blessed with..
HAPPY SATURDAY TO ALL!!!
whoooooooooosh
top 10. all right
Leo G as a possibility sounds good, but would like to see what coach mc is looking for his staff.
Dat movie wit Joe Pesci and Marissa Tomei.
Doze youts(utes), fugettabboutit.
Good morning ST…
Goeas could probably do the job, but wouldn’t he have to stop being an NFL agent?
Davone Bess is the man! Can’t wait to see him in the playoffs.
…and that’s all anyone needs to know about the Bc$.
top 10
whtey,
happy new year!!! hope you have a great weekend. sorry for not calling last week, but it was hectic with the funeral at Maria Lanakila in lahaiana and then the burial. reception was at Danis, but we had to catch a flight back to HNL so no time to eat. had the beast, the beast’s brother and sister with us…..funny sight.
stay dry and stay warm 🙂
LG would be a viable option, but i don’t think he would take the pay cut, haha.
also, cannot coach and be an agent at the same time….how about this…..what about Brian Derby? why is he being blackballed, or it appears to be.
his camps have produced more D1 linemen than anyone can remember….
is he LOUD? YES
does he swear? YES
is he intimidating? YES
does he know his stuff? YES
can he work with linemen? YES
is he a UH alum? YES
CAN HE PRODUCE? YES, YES, YES, YES…..
i think he is a great catch…his clinics are on the west coast in Oregon and he also coaches in Japan. this guy is awesome, no fee for his clinics…the only price is COMMITTMENT by the players and their families…..has a great cadre of assistants also.
ST, what do you think?
I saw this very handsome Asian male, looking like a pro Japanese golfer at KK last night about 720 pm. I had another committment there and was walking in the door; when i ran into the back of this person.
he had the golfer tan on his ankles, golf cap, golf shorts, and golf cap. as i was getting ready to get his autograph…..i realized when he turned around…it was our very own STRETCH!!!
he was putting the D/P for our room for our upcoming blast over there….he looked like he lost weight, so it took me a minute to recognize him, haha…
stretch, mahalo for my surprise, it is sitting right in front of me on my desk…..u da bestest!!!!
Great Morning All!
Top 15! 🙂
Count me as one who was ambivalent towards the Sugar Bowl outcome yesterday…while it was neat to see a non-BCS team pull of the win; it really sucked to see last year’s score included in the discussion and flashed on the screen
aloha d1
whew, long time no see, happy new year to you and the ohana… hope all was good for new years eve…..can’t wait for the next KK and see you and your bride.
have a good weekend…..
Good Morning Tsai-kos!
Happy New Year!
I hope the uncertainty of upcoming coaching changes is not impacting the thinking of the returning players as they start to turn their focus to off-season work-outs.
Also hope that those same rumblings are not affecting commitments from incoming recruits. There’s much change all around as there is every year around this time.
Some new staffs being put together as we speak that are gonna be hyper-aggressive towards recruiting players once they hit the ground.
It’s almost like a game situation when the other team comes up with a new wrinkle that wasn’t on game film, the UH coaches need to respond. Will they be able to? Are they more concerned with what’s happening in their own “house”? Will they be able to approach new recruiting threats with enough credibility? Sure hope so…
Howzit Bulla!
Sounds like a very busy Christmas break for your Ohana. Hope you all had some time to do some of those Ohana (not Obama) kine stuffs! 🙂
Erryboddy play nice!
HiHo….
D-1 ~ Update for your scorecard – Last time I checked, BHF2 wasn’t playing nice, and whitey was playing in the dark side.
D-1 ~ One more update concerning an answer to W/Doc’s request for more information concerning ‘yellow smiley’s’ dragged over from the old blog:
bulla, no worry. always get next time.
i like what coach wilton has set for his preseason requirements and if you cannot make it, cannot practice or join team. it got everyone’s attention on the vb team and all of them trained hard and smart.
8) morning d1,kekoa, bulla, whitey and duffer a pleasure to be up and shareing such fine early am with you guys. now if only the kope purk would work faster
Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.
IMO we gotta pay attention to what Silky said earlier this am on the previous post, particularly his direct advice to Coach. Like D1 wuz saying about how the tv put up our score frum last year, and comparing us to Utah. yu wuz upset? me too!! Silky’s brain bustah mo current; comparing our Notre Dame show stoppah to a pop warner performance, analyzing some game observations from dis past season. wat? yu tink da coaches scared to say tingz? confusion, peeps all ova da sidelines, sum showing obveeus signs ah not respectin dare position coach, particularly sum oline bullheadz.
Coach, you know what you gotta do! even one idiot like me can spot da 8 foot sign language from 200 feet away. I believe in you coach. I saw you never looked away from the fans over the tunnel at the end of the ND game. I get hope. You can do it! We can do it!
Go Warriors!
Re: Wilton.
I remember Riley did that his first year. Players had to earn their practice uniforms.
That also was the year he got irked at David Hallums and made him run back to the school from the Blaisdell.
Whoa. Just dated myself. I can remember when UH sometimes practiced at the Blaisdell (where they played their home games). Of course, if I start referring to it as the HIC, I’ll really be going back in time …
whitey now I scared tramp over to maui. last night I went moi moi you was bloging and this morning au’we dea you again. I no think I can stay with you on the dark side. bwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Good morning Tsaikos, 8) Kekoa.

ST, how did coach wallace’s team do his 1st year?
ho kekoa,
if you no like teach day classes, maybe nite tutorl mo bettah?
looking over some remarks from last night post I came across ajoe’s remarks. I totally agree with him if BS wants out then go and be done with it. no need someone wishing to be somewhere else (hint hint ebola). take a page out of the MWC split but man up and say this is our last year instead of sneaking off.
WTF? chihuahua? I HATE UTAH! 😀

Good morning Tsai-kos!!
And how are we doing this morning?
Watching a good game. You know which one!! This is what the Bows need to aspire to. Disciplined play, good shot selection, good ball handling.

i shudda gone Orlando, Splash Mountain. 😀
den maybe i wouldn’t have felt soooo bad last nite
watchin da tv show last year’s score. 👿
I am soo glad I watched SB last nite. reading ST this morning give me reason today to focus all my negative energy to Utah and be positive about it. 😀
you gotta help me out, coach.

Very provocative idea – but I have the same question as posed by 99 in post #9. Any potential conflict of interest? 🙄
BTW – Bruddah 99 – How’s “youte” today? 😆
WTF? da bugga just wen poof and 2x post. i wuz tryin fo finalize:
I HATE UTAH!!!!!!!!! 8)
bhf2-
Good morning friend! Yup, now that their BCS showdown is pau, we can feel free to hate the Utes again, just as we could hate Boise again after they beat Oklahoma a few years back. 😆 j/k I don’t really hate anybody, I jes love da Warriors is all.
I don’t like the BCS system at all.
but i had to hand it to da Youtz, doze buggaz came to play! Adapt. Improvise. Da double fake wuz da best! and da runs across and up da middle wit da oline guyz coming off and downhill blockin, i wuz tinkin
HOW COME WE NEVA MAKE LIKE DAT WIT ND?
BHF2 – pushed down too hard on the Enter key when submitting? That can happen when you’re too angry!!! 🙄

Silky-
I don’t know who’s you, but wow, lau lau, you said a mouthful. Yours is one of the best posts I have read in a long time. You should post more often. I would love to be a fly on your wall…
Utah betta get used to not gettin dare “fair share” ah Hawaii peepz.
At least Mack got island peeps beleevin he fo us. And like I Should Be Coach said earlier this am, and al and whitey said yesterday, change is on da horizon, and help is on da way.
Last night bruddah A-Joe paid us a quick visit to slap some of around a bit. I speculated here, but maybe when you get beat-up in the hale by the “boss”, you gotto then take it out on your pals? 😀 BTW – a question-
Okay – I can understand that comment for most of us, but how about Kama Krab??? 🙄 Does he have to change his nickname too? 😯 😆 😈
😳 …some of us… 😳
jm366+2009 – Nice rhymes with rice, lice, mice, entice, and vice…. Shall I continue? 🙄

ST created this blog post at 4:27am Saturday morning. Was he up early, or was he sneaking in after a late night carousing with his pals? Are there any places where games of chance are sponsored in the 808? 😯 😆 🙄

Bruddah 808ike – Re: #50 – PLEASE – I was simply referencing two excellent sources for emoticons – from Jason and SteveM. I don’t want to get caught between those two…. 🙄 😯 😆
hi ho peeps.
gonna make da trip aroun Hilo bay. see you laterz….
but just rememba dis, Daniel…..
I HATE DA YOUTZ! I going luv bussin up BYU again!
Agree w/Bulla on Brian Derby. Derby and Leo Goeas should be our o-line coaches. And hate to admit it, but Utah is superior to UH, at least in football. The Utes have won eight straight bowls and have had two undefeated seasons recently. They are also a much better coached-up unit. Remember Urban Meyer?
Utah and Boise have proved that the current BCS system is baloney. It is an illegal monopoly, a violation of anti trust law like Abercrombie said. You can’t ASSUME that a team from a certain conference is better because people like Barry Switzer say Alabama wouldn’t have recruited a single one of the Utah players. Looks like Utah recruited the right players.
This has to be won on the field with a national playoff like all the rest of the NCAA sports. If the BCS schools don’t want to share the money, somebody has to sue ’em. Even Obama is calling for a national playoff.
Did we ever find out why the FB Warriors couldn’t practice at Murakami? That no stripes claim is … LAME. I also like the idea of making the players earn their uniforms as well as PT. DESIRE is not simply handed to you! 😯
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
I hope you found the cash that was in the bag…. after eating lunch yesterday, there is NO WAY I have lost weight.
Lesson for BHF2 – Do you know how to make the bold or italic characters with the bra-kets (less than, greater than). If you want to be blue, replace the “b” or the “i” with an “a”. And thus, BigHiloFrankenstein2 was started….. 😀 😯 😆
Brew808—-Great post #47.
Hmmmm… sort of backsided compliment? Since this is a family blog, we won’t ask for anymore details…. 😯 😆 🙄
Why does Coach Mack like Brian Smith?
Where is Whitey? there may be an opportunity to climb Mt. Everest again.
watching pitt destroying da hoyas. jm betta game dan what you watching imho.
looks like ralph prediction is proving true.
Heck – Is there some sort of BIG TIME basketball game going on on the tube? Wow! There certainly is at least ONE good team in A-House’s favorite Big East Conference!!! It looks like the PITTs competing against Jamie Dixon’s team…. 😯 🙄 😀

Silky-
I don’t know who’s you, but wow, lau lau, you said a mouthful. Yours is one of the best posts I have read in a long time. You should post more often. I would love to be a fly on your wall…
Just went back and read Silky’s post. That’s a long post for early in the morning, but like DPK, I think Silky of the Corn for the most part speaks the blunt, honest, (yikes) truth.
OK, OK, I’ll take da lumps. Pitt’s playing really well and GU is looking like UH from da 3-pt line. 😥 With 8 teams in the top 20, they’re going to be beating each other up throughout the season. GU gets to play ND on Monday. oh boy.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
….someone just called my phone an woke me up… grrr…
oh- I have to get up anyway and take Palu to the vet… oh well.
(We have 2 kitties who needed checkups. Boys could not catch Palu- who ran away. She’s a one-woman cat 😉 )
brew – you not playing nice. I may have to break dat resolution…. 😈
Hola, hoya – tossing is a bone for GU… I’ll cheer for GU over ND every time!…. ’nuff said… 🙄
Hiya Liz – I just tried to call you…. 😆
Wow – lots of interesting statistics in sports. For basketball, there’s rebounds, shooting percentages, free-throws, 3-pointers, assists, etc. It must be a statisticians dream to follow sports. Oh… I almost forgot, the score…. like 54, 70…. 😯 😀 😯
Brew’s on a roll, baby! LMAO at #75.
brew not playing nice. not helping me keep dat resolution.
Here’s hoping Texas rolls over Ohio St. and Oklahoma barely beats Florida. I’d love to see Texas vault to #1 in the AP and split the mythical title.
99 – Did youte retire yet? I taut that was going to happen, and youte be a consultant or someting. What – did the economy or the boss make youte change your mind? It’s okay if youte want to respond by email…. 😀
brew808- you like I call you back??? 😈
okok (rubbing eyes) I’m up.
so…
Leo Goeas
I remember about this time last year, ST said “what about Greg McMackin?”
And that started a full-press campaign that turned the tide from despair to hope that we would have a 2008 season.
This year, I find myself looking at a big picture that is very different. It is a picture of changing times and values that throws UH, the Warriors, coaches, fans, etc. into an opportunity to do some very serious soul-searching.
In past years- one could build a system by “choosing from column A or column B” – like going to eat a buffet meal.
Today’s world is unclear, uncertain, and the fundamental values are in question. The foundations have eroded and need to be rebuilt first. (We get to the restaurant and while the buffet table is still there, we need to determine if the food is edible, because, by looking at it, we have lost our appetites. Plus, the cost of the meal may be more than what we have in our pocket books to pay for it.)
Hope that is not too obtuse… but I need to get my kope and go find the little cat…
Oh yeah… and call brew808 back…
hiho!
Hey jm366daysinaleapyear+2009 – Being a bonafide statistician, you’re an expert with numbers right? Can you tell me if 70 is greater than or less than 54? I can’t think straight this morning. It happens every once in awhile. It really is the “Pitts”! 😈 😀
Oh… JUST A LITTLE!!! 😯 😈 😀
Brew-
Funny, I just got back from getting my 3rd to last military-style haircut. My retirement ceremony is at the end of this month with my official “Mr.” date of 1 March. It’ll be 28 years and a few weeks.
Sheeesh…. I think I need more kope…. or perhaps it’s time for something stronger…. obtuse it is….. 😯 🙄 😯
***ignoring brew, so I don’t break my resolution of being nice to him.*** Is he ever going to be nice to me? sniffle, sniffle.
When then- an early Congratulations to 99club on his pending retirement! All of us appreciate your service to our country, and to this blog! 😀
leaving so you guys can sort out whatever is going on. conversation got to adultness for me. kden play nice and be good.
anoddah cup of kope den I am gone
esmeeeeeee and whooooooooosh
jm2379- think of brew808 as a mosquito. Can find you in a dark room, mare a noise that gets you blood running so he can land and make you itchy after he leaves…
bwhahaha!
He only picks on those who can handle, btw…
dang little cst is STRONG…
Escaped from the grasp missed her twice!
Don’t leave us koakane™! koakane™ come back! koakane™ come home…. Nah… sounds better with Shane! 🙄 😆
….or Lassie…. 😆
Hmmmmm…. I’m very, very confused! Am I a mosquito, or am I a saloon pilot cracker! (Oh shusshhh jm366daysinaleapyear+2009, this is a family blog!) 😯 😆 🙄
brew is a mosquito who lands in da saloon pilot cracker soaked in cream and drowns! hahahahahaha!!! 😈
BTW – Mahalo to ST for the update on the Kane V-ball team in this morning’s HA. You answered many of my questions from yesterday’s teaser blog. I suppose spilling the beans yesterday would have been like stealing from yourself. One of these days, can you discuss the future of Men’s V-ball as a continuing NCAA sport? I am concern that we’ve reached a critical point where we need to declare Men’s V-ball an endangered species…. 🙁 😯 😕
Ahhh… so we see that literary prose is not necessarily part of the statisticians toolkit…. 🙄
Of course…. I speak only in general terms… as I’m playing nice…. 😯
Congrats to Davone Bess…
These are the type of players I love and respect and wish all the best in there future endeavors whether it be on the football field or just life in general. A guy with the work ethic, desire, discipline and determination to leave it all on the field each and every time will always have my upmost respect. I thank you for all that you’ve done for the Football Program and as a true Warrior Fan, thank you for allowing me to witness one of the greatest receivers ever. I wish you and Ryan would’ve stayed but that would be selfish, so I wish you continued success in your NFL career! Hope you can come back to the islands and help your brothers out and mentor them into working hard to excel on the football field as well as in obtaining their degrees!
Congrats as well to the Utes…and the Hawaii boys on that team especially my boy Tyler Williams!
Okay…. It looks like I’ve chased everyone away with my endless banter. Liz is chasing her kitty cat around the hale. jm366daysinaleapyear+2009 is trying to cheer up and/or beat up on someone after witnessing her favorite BB team go down in defeat.
So, with that I bid adieu. Au revoir. Aloha! Some people say esme but (since it’s been so long ago since her last appearance….) frankly, I’m not sure what that means anymore. So whooooossssshhhhh I go – (No – jm366daysinaleapyear+2009, that’s not a toilet bowl flushing….. 😈 ) Laters! 😆 😯 😀
Watching the US Army High School Football Game and all these talented players that we will never see wear a Warrior Uniform. Unreal how the bigs like USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida etc…consistently have at least 5,6,7,8 or so Top 100 players in the nation. These kids are huge, strong, and fast for there size. I mean that one Offensive Tackle 6’7″ 350lbs. and runs a 4.9 40yd. freak! I know we would never have a chance at players like this but we need to shoot for the stars and find em Coach. Personally though, I’d rather take a kid who hustles and plays with heart than a naturally talented one. But if they possess that combo then sign em up and git r’ done!
Okay… one more for a “C-note” 😆
Good luck to the Coaches on the recruiting efforts…hope all our verbal commits stick and sign the infamous L.O.I. If all the current commits sign that would be a great foundation of players to build on for years to come. Keep doing work Coach, we are behind you all the way!
brew – ha! you missed!!!
99Club!
Congratulations on your tireless commitment to serving our country.
Now the tough question: Is the islands in your plans for retirement?
silky,
now THAT was a mouthful…for the most part, i am in agreement with your epilogue.
i find it interesting that Gerke has ‘hooked up’ with his old gang from Weber at Utah State; but then i heard last night that he might be headed to Utah instead. Utah has named Kalani Sitake as the DC and that is going to be a problem for UH/Hawaii. Kalani is a good recruiter, as is Coach Chad at Utah State, as is Coach Fanoga at Wyoming, and don’t forget Coach Mac at Weber State.
What am I saying…..the state of Utah has a lot of coaches who are ‘tapped in’ to our local pool of players and/or Samoa. Utah State is going to make a concerted effort into recruiting polynesian players, aka Coach Mac at Utah before Urban Meyer came to the program. Weber State has a strong local flavor with 21 polynesians, and 10 with ties to hawaii. These coaches have found out that for the most part, athletes from Hawaii are very coachable, stay out of trouble for the most part, and are decent students. True, you will have the one bad apple, or pineapple in this case, but overall, you can’t go too far south with our kids.
I know since the UH/Notre Dame game, phones have been ringing and the calls are coming for UH recruits…it’s not a done deal until the day after LOI, when the paperwork is signed and delivered. Up to that point, it is just smoke and mirrors on both sides of the ball. Coaches have to decide who gets scholarships, who they are going to ‘convince’ to grey shirt or red shirt in the coming season. it is such a balancing act……
Warriors have to regroup, it is obvious…..but Coach Mac has to clean house…..if there is a ripple of discord with his staff, it will only build into a crashing wave or reality during next season. Get guys who want to coach, who can coach, and will coach…..very easy. No favorites, no games, just get the guys who can bring the goods…….bottom line. We pay for performance, not for staying busy…….
It all starts with respect, i might be old school, but that is life. If I have to choose between a great player who doesn’t respect me and a player who respects me, I’ll choose the one who respects me. Anything else would be like developing a cancer that will have a terminal effect on the team……it takes a team to win and a team to lose, this ain’t golf or wrestling……respect is the cornerstone of success for a team, top to bottom, coaches to coaches, coaches to players, and MOST importantly, players to ALL COACHES.
Let’s go Warriors, can do…..build from the bottom up, one step at a time!
GO WARRIORS
GO WILDCATS (X2)
Albert Einstein died, and found himself on the train to heaven. In his car, there were four people, three men and a woman, sitting on separate benches. He walked up to the first who said, “Hello! My name is Garret, and I have an IQ of 186.” Einstein smiled brilliantly, and said, “Ah-hah! We shall discuss electrical engineering together!”
The second man greeted him with, “Hello, sir. My name is Jason, and my IQ is 140.” Einstein smiled, replying, “Excellent! We shall discuss mathematics together.”
Moving on, Einstein shook hands with the third man, who said, “Hello; my name is chawan_cut, and my IQ is 119.” Smiling again, Einstein replied, “Very good! We shall talk together about that new upcoming field, computer science.”
The woman looked up glumly as Einstein approached, and said, “Hi, my name’s jm2375, and my IQ’s only 87.” Einstein replied sadly, “I see—we shall have to discuss statistics.”
99 Club,
mahalo for your service, that is what our country is built upon, is selfless people like yourself fighting for our freedom.
mahalo!
LMFAO @ Jason 🙂
Jason – at least you know that engineers have the highest IQ.
Wea you was last night Jason. Da soup was boilin’ in here… Did you have another hot date, playah? 😉
Leo Goeas and Brian Derby would both be solid pickups.
And Davone’s work ethic is second to none. He is an example for everyone to follow.
There’s a huge difference between Engineers that attend and eventually teach classes, and those that cut classes and focus on marketing…. so I am told…. 😯 😀 🙄
Congratulations to Utah for beating Alabama in the Sugar Bowl last night. That was an awesome performance. Congratulations also to Blaine Gaison (Kamehameha) whose son Kepa Gaison played linebacker for Utah last night and had a couple of sacks. Kepa was a classmate of my son at Kamehameha class of 2005. It was nice to see Kepa have a great game. The Superdome also brought back a lot of memories for me being at last years Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. We had a great time. Doesn’t UH get some of that money from Utah being in the Sugar Bowl?
Bulla,
I agree that I rather have respectable disciplined players who are coachable and play hard all the time. The type of players who work hard to overachieve and exceed there abilities rather than naturally talented yet cocky types. Gotta have the kind of players who got each others backs and continuously push each other to greatness. The ones who listen and don’t talk back, the ones who let the coaches, coach and stay humble!
Same with getting the coaches who want to win and accomplish the mission of getting our football program into the routine of winning consistently year in and year out. No-nonsense guys who are there to coach, develop, mentor, motivate and pour their hearts out for the players, other coaches and the program. It’s the same when I have to choose one of my younger guys to take charge when I need them too. Do I choose the good guy that everybody gets along with, or do I choose the guy who may not be personable but can be relied upon to accomplish the mission? For me it’s always the guy who can be relied upon to get the job done no questions asked!
DPK: I was a playah … I was playing NCAA Football 09.
Stretch: Let me put this in language even jm2375 can understand. When looking at mathematicians, engineers, and computer scientists: At the far right of the bell curve, there are the Garrets of the world. Tending toward the right, there are the brew808s. In the middle is me. Slightly to my left, there are the chawan_cuts. And then at the far, far, far left, there are the marketers of the world. Don’t you forget that. 🙂
Happy Saturday!
Wow! So much has been going on the last few days on the blog. And some of it is even about football 😉
99club: Congratulations on your retirement! Thank you (and many others) for serving our country.
But both have a college degree and a license as a Professional Engineer

Dayum, with all these brains filling up the room I don’t know if there’s anymore space for us somewhat edumacated types… and I always thought getting an nice big Red “F” on your paper meant Fantastic… Geez!
Howzit Aunty Ronnie,
Stay pouring up by your side too or no? Hope the rain stop before the Chargers/Colts game tonight…
I also find it very interesting how Jason has indexed certain professions with IQ’s and relative seat locations on the “car train to heaven”. Quite interesting – maybe disturbing. I also wonder about ICS vs. statistics…. must be that Jason aced all his Stat courses. And – is he generalizing all members of each profession with those selected individuals? Thus, as interesting (& provocative) a story as it first appears, Jason’s post might have created more unresolved questions than previously known…. 🙄 😀 😯
Reminder for those going to the basketball game tonight. It is being designated a “White Out”.
I am still not sure how a “White Out” for the Hawaii Bowl would have been considered “Home Field Advantage”. Maybe a math major can clarify it for me??
Arizona vs. Atlanta game about to start…
Wonder who would win…
A Cardinal or A Falcon?!?!?
Bravo Bulla on your #105 post. It’s spoken from a man, and father than “knows”…. 😀
Okay, here’s the original joke:
Albert Einstein died, and found himself on the train to heaven. In his car, there were four men sitting on separate benches. He walked up to the first who said, “Hello! My name is Bob, and I have an IQ of 186.” Einstein smiled brilliantly, and said, “Ah-hah! We shall discuss quantum physics together!”
The second man greeted him with, “Hello, sir. My name is Edward, and my IQ is 150.” Einstein smiled, replying, “Excellent! We shall discuss mathematics together.”
Moving on, Einstein shook hands with the third man, who said, “Hello; my name is William, and my IQ is 119.” Smiling again, Einstein replied, “Very good! We shall talk together about European history.”
The last man looked up glumly as Einstein approached, and said, “Hi, my name’s Chuck, and my IQ’s only 87.” Einstein replied sadly, “I see—we shall have to discuss statistics.”
Ummmm – what color are empty seats? 🙄
I didnt realize Brian Smith had deep knowledge of the RnS, while at PSU his OL gave up 50 plus sacks and he improved on that mark at Hawaii…no telling what records he will set in future years.
Hi Pauoa Boy!
No rain here. It rained a little last night, but not too bad. It’s just cloudy now.
Stretch: Don’t get me started with my John McNamara rant.
PB,
you’re right, accomplish the mission, finish the task, do the work, get’er done….anyway you put it, there is a plan, there is execution, and there is a result.
with the right plan, the right execution, the desired result is achieved. everyone has to buy into your plan, anarchy and chaos are the end result of anything less. if someone is diametrically opposed to your position, and you are the leader (head coach), success will never happen, it is impossible.
just like in ministry, if you are not aligned with your leader, leave…..becaue it ain’t going to work. try building a railroad track, and at the beginning you only off ‘a little bit’, hoping that the track will correct itself down the road…..what happens…..yeah, buckaloose is right. if you’re not in alignment……..it’s broken before it is build, not a question of if, but only when.
i guess i am harping on leadership, either there is or there isn’t, and that is hard to determine sometimes. one of the biggest challenges for any CEO (head coach) at any level, is management skills, and if you can’t manage your managers (coaches) who is going to manage (coach) your employees (players)? it is such a systematic proposition for failure, where it is inherent with so many factors that implosion is the end result more often than not.
but there are the ones that succeed, and i don’t want to mention Utah, but they run a pretty tight program, everyone from HC to coaches to players to trainers…are on the same page…..and it showed yesterday, BIG TIME.
Coach Mac should take a page out of Utah’s book and see what he can apply to UH’s situation.
ok, didn’t mean for the tirade but wow, these m&m’s from Stretch have some pretty mean ‘ingrediments’ i guess, haha.
mahalo for my surprise again Stretch, made my night!
go ahead, let’s hear how a math major rants…
Bulla – I hope there wasn’t anything extra in there, it’s been sitting in my truck for a while.
Is Travis playing in the AZ game?
Aunty Ronnie,
Really, frikk been pouring down South over here, it’s clearing up with light drizzlling but cloudy too. You guys was able to get fireworks where you stay? I never know was illegal to pop in Cali, almost got arrested…lol. Anyway, hope you guys had a good Christmas and New Years…
Aha! So physicists rule? Was this a joked penned by a physicist? Physicists are often at the extreme edge of normality, and typically don’t have a firm sense of reality. 😯 🙄 😀
Yups Travis Laboy stay playing…they showed him warming up earlier during pre-game…I think…
I thought it was against the rules to wear tinted visors in the NFL… Is there an exception?
and WOW!!! What a play by AZ!
Ronnie – I think NFL okay, College and below no can
Nice catch by Fitzgerald…TD Cards 7-0
A neutron walked into a bar and asked, “How much for a drink?” The bartender replied, “For you, no charge.” 😆
Pauoa Boy – you are too funny! I can imagine what you had for fireworks 😀
Since “legal” fireworks in Cali are pretty lame, we don’t even bother. Just hang out with friends and try not to have too much champagne. 🙂
Eh Braniac Jason,
you should know…wasn’t there a reason that players were banned from wearing tinted visors in the helmets. Like had to do with medical staff not being able to see the players eyes when treating them when they get hit, like concussion kine or something laddat?
Wow – Bulla gets special invites to luncheons w/ celebrities AND special candied treats from adoring groupies…. 🙄
Thanks Stretch.
I know it’s spitefull, but I’m glad AZ is dominating so far… I hope it continues!
Pauoa Boy: I think that was the reason. And if you want to ask a braniac, ask Garret or brew808. I still believe brew808 keeps his identity a closely guarded secret because he’s the head of MENSA or something.
Jason, I don’t know if the head of MENSA would be as fun as brew808 is… 🙂
Is it just me, or is anyone else waiting to see AZ#55 PLANT ATL#2 – just bury him!??? 😈 😯 👿
Stretch – big difference between electrical and civil engineers. 😛
Jason – you’re just jealous of statisticians. We actually interact with the REAL world, not your theoretical world of math.
Aunty Ronnie,
True they are lame, I was looking for places to buy and was like why the heo only get da kine pop-pop fireworks?
Thanks Ronnie…. the check is in the mail. 😀
brew – maybe 2 or 3 times just to make his point! 😈
hey brew,
as the gangstah wannabe’s would say….(in that gangstah drawl)
you know how we do brew, dats how we roll dawg
Nice to see Edgerrin James get the ball and do work…
Oooooohhhhh – geek fight?!? 😆
AZ sure is fired up for this game!
Bulla – Re: #152 –> Ah, da Beast must be home! 😀
Sack #2!
Nevermind…Laboy still out with ankle injury…
Bummer about LaBoy! Maybe we can see him next week.
I’m afraid to ask P-Boy what kine homemade fireworks he concocted…. 😈 😀 🙄
Jason — don’t speculate on Brew808’s identity on-line. Last time I did that the other year, men with suits, dark glasses and ear wigs appeared 😐
Happier thoughts….

brew
the beast leaves on wednesday back to snowy Ogden UT; time for winter conditioning. he had fun being home, and getting therapy on his ankle with Pat Ariki at his office; he’ll be good to go.
happy new year by the way, hope all is well, and that this coming year is filled with joy for you and your ohana.
Yups Travis not playing today…still get Francisco(Kahuku) though although he’s a BYU kitty cat alumni…grrr!!!
brew808 – Just put it this way I’ve been working with ordnance for 12 years…go figure 👿
SteveM has such an active imagination. And I warned him not to triple his medication and that he wasn’t suppose to down them with mojitos! Besides, are earwigs some sort of insect? Whose name got added…. someone w/ a 25? 🙄 😀
😳 aren’t earwigs…. 😳
UH Cheerleaders on MTV right now.
Are there any UH Cheerleaders taller than 5 ft. and that weight more than 90lbs?
no,
they’re DB’s
ok, that was uncalled for, slap, slap slap
I still think that everyone gets a pass on the 2008 season.
But it’s only a one-season pass.
Programs can go many ways. I think we need to at least see the 2005-like potential out of this season’s team.
By the way, I thought the 2006 team should have beaten Oregon State. But some coach got cute and decided to start Ross Dickerson at running back.
ST
you are the proverbial phootball prophet pho-evah
and programs can go many ways…can anyone say NMSU? SDSU? UW? whew, a lot of rebuilding going on…….
Kazz,
What they on MTV for? They doing one special or something? Hmm…football and beer, or girls who cheer?
Is Paula Abdul on something?
I wish Paula Abdul was on my…um…cell phone call list 🙂
jm2375: Hey, I’m taking mostly applied math courses. 🙂
Pauoa Boy,
They are competing against other squads on Paula Abdul’s Cheerleading Bowl.
Jason — Surprising Einstein would discuss something he didn’t believe in… 😉
PB
get out of the gutter, that was so bad……all i know is that if she were in a crowded bar and your face was there, she wouldn’t have to worry about finding a ………., that’s enough
i was going to say my ears are pretty cold, and i sure would like to use some custom ear muffs………
take me back, take me back to the Laker days when she danced, haha
That MTV show is on at 4:30 in CA…
And by “everyone gets a pass,” that includes the writers.
I had an off year.
RE: UH Cheerleaders.
BTW, I’d rather have our petite and talented cheerleaders that compete on a national stage every year and finish in the Top 10 representing our school/state as an “athletic program” than some of the cosmetically-made eye candy pieces on display at some other BCS-sized schools.
If people just want eye candy, Kapiolani Blvd and “Koreamoku” Street can provide dis kine action.
Hahahahaha!!! Miami of Ohio… Eliminated!!!
ALOHA OE… ALOHA OE…. GO HOME!!!
Oh that reminds me… gotta get that ready for some BSU DONKS for tonight’s WAC season opener!!!
WHITE OUT!!! GO BOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kazz –
I agree with you about our cheerleaders. Seeing them at the Boise game, I was really impressed with how athletic and fearless they are.
I wonder what Einstein’s relatives look like?
And his theory on them.
Oye, what is dat like one new reality show now? Hmm…cheerleaders ah, might have to take a peek.
Bulla,
Ah nevermind…that was bad
Wow – where did the gutter come from? Kind of jumped up and took over? 🙄
Straigh Up, for all you PA fans
Lost in a dream
Don’t know which way to go
If you are all that you seem
Then baby I’m movin’ way too slow
I’ve been a fool before
Wouldn’t like to get my love caught
In the slammin’ door
How about some information–please
[Chorus:]
Straight up now tell me
Do you really want to love me forever oh oh oh
Or am I caught in a hit and run
Straight up now tell me
Is it gonna be you and me together oh oh oh
Are you just having fun
Time’s standing still
Waiting for some small clue
I keep getting chills
When I think your love is true
I’ve been a fool before
Wouldn’t like to get my love caught
In the slammin’ door
How about some information–please
[Chorus:]
Straight up now tell me
Do you really want to love me forever oh oh oh
Or am I caught in a hit and run
Straight up now tell me
Is it gonna be you and me together oh oh oh
Are you just having fun
You are so hard to read
You play hide and seek
With your true intentions
If you’re only playing games
I’ll just have to say–bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye
Do do you love me
Do do you love me
Do do you love me
Do do you love me ?
I’ve been a fool before
Wouldn’t like to get my love caught
In the slammin’ door
Are you more than hot for me
Or am I a page in your history-book
I don’t mean to make demands
But the word and the deed go hand in hand
How about some information–please
[Chorus cont.]
I’ve been a fool before
Wouldn’t like to get my love caught
In the slammin’ door
Are you more than hot for me
Or am I a page in your history-book
I don’t mean to make demands
But the word and the deed go hand in hand
How about some information–please
Kazz,
Nah I guess for cheerleading purposes petite is better for the guys toss em around. But still I no mind the eye candy…which is another reason I love foosball so much. If the team not doing good always get other entertainment to watch haha…
Your image of UH cheerleaders is a lot different than mine.
I remember when Russ Shimooka was a UH cheerleader.
Yeah, from that perspective, you never quite see cheerleaders in the same way.
Yup, I never really paid attention to them before but my friend’s girlfriend took notice of them as she did competitive cheerleading in her high school.
Then I saw a lot of their clips on You Tube in their National Competitions and they’ve been finishing in the Top 10 in the country for the past couple of years.
I don’t know anything about cheerleading, but they do have a reputation of attempting and putting together some of the hardest and “riskiest” stunts which gets them a lot of points but they don’t always get them perfectly.
Either way, they are just another reason to be proud of our GREEN AND WHITE!!!!
Kudos to Coach Mike Baker for keeping the squad consistently good over the years.
And now we know part of Bulla’s methodology in getting those exclusive invites to lunch….PA this, PA that, PA, PA, PA….. 😀
Sorry can’t help it…
“I’M A GUY” (said in southern twang)
First Russ Shimooka kills my image of UH cheerleaders.
Then Bulla kills my image of Paula Abdul.
#184 was a guud one…. 😀
OMG… this judge’s name is “Hi – Hat”… what the hell is wrong with my generation?!?!?!?!?!?!?
It’s like all these MTV people have sounds instead of names… like who or what the hell is a “LaLa”?
Whoa, I just received a package from djmitcho, the prize for winning the fantasy football league. Yikes! An autographed Davone Bess rookie trading card, and an autographed Davone Bess autograph card! I’m not much of a guy for trading cards and stuff, but this is cool. Thanks, man!
ST, this is the most I have ever watched of Paula Abdul (I don’t like American Idol), but is it wrong of me to say that I am now “creeped” out by her?
Hmmmmm…. interesting question, Kazz. 😆
ST
just saying Russ’ name brought shivers to my hairless head, nothing like feeling the non hair on the back of your neck rise….haha
Paula Abdul has seen better years, but she is a trooper. I give her credit for still being out there…..and if you want to clear up her image, take off those LV reading glasses, close your eyes, and drift off to nana nana land where everyone is ‘peachy keen’ and ‘neato’ and ‘totally awesome’ and you’ll see the Paula you used to love….watch out for the bell bottom hip huggers and platform shoes……..ouch
Bulla,
The lyrics to Rush, Rush moa bettah…
Always thought she wrote that song for me, but then reality set in once I was done listening to it…
Woah! ST said Russ Shimooka and Russell Yamanoha popped into my head.
Excuse me while I vomit…
So after all the kidding is done, Jason –> SCORES!!! 😆 😯
Ok.. seriously… if this was a straight up cheerleading competition UH would have killed the other four teams in one routine and the show would have been 15 minutes long.
Kazz,
Eh I thought the same thing until I had remember which guy was which whew…
Bulla:
Paula Abdul is from the late 1980s, not the 70s.
People weren’t wearing bell-bottoms in the 80s, or even the late 70s for that matter.
The best UH cheerleading routine was in the late 1990s. That’s when they did “Happy and You know It,” by Crazylegs.
PB
i thought the lyrics or rush, rush could’ve been played for the Defense this year in their waning moments….haha or LWJ when he was going east and west instead of north and south….
Stephen,
That was a great routine. My friends and I still talk about the Happy and You Know it Clap your hands! Wasn’t the current cheerleader coach a part of one of those teams?
Einstein’s Theory of Relatives: The faster you go, the older they seem to be… 🙂
I thought I read that UH was the final 2 for this competition. Not sure who eventually won.
Leo G is a sports agent and if was to talk with any of the current warriors who are underclassmen, there could be trouble like alabama. if he honestly wants to put his name in for the coaching position, first resign as a sports agent so there is no question about illegality.
Brian Derby is different because he is doing things from his heart and basically, there is no pay involved.
also coach j morimoto is on the unlv staff and i am sure he had a hand in getting tesoro from baldwin. he is also very close to coach chad k and both of them participate in the just win clinic on maui.
i don’t know how byu lost some of their hawaiian connection, but i think when they took UH off their schedule, they lost a lot because there was no way the hawaii kids would get to play in front of their families and friends in hawaii. sometimes maybe, scheduling mwc teams should be avoided with unlv being the exception. we do get a lot of money from boyd gaming.
ST – bad visual, bad visual!!! ewwwww.
Whoa…. Vili lost weight. He looks a lot better now.
Bulla,
Fo reals, wassup with LWJ? Dat guy needs to be let loose or switch positions. Let him KR/PR and maybe play wide receiver to use his speed. I hope Coach Ron utilizes his talent this year or else he’s a waste of talent.
this is the first time i’ve watched MTV in years.
Oh crap… I was going to leave early based upon hearing that UH won the whole thing… guess I gotta wait now…
chawan_cut,
MTV not the same anymore…do they even play music nowadays? MTV should be RTV…as in Reality Television instead of Music Television… So irritating too when get MTV 1,2,3, Soul, Asian, Latin…frikk what da heo?
One of the cheerleaders, Vanessa, was the one who choreographed the Happy And You Know It routine.
Erika Buder-Nakasone was a member of the squad. She’s Clapp’s admin assistant now.
Mahalo for the kind words you guys, RE: retirement.
A-joe,
We’ll be staying here, most likely.
HOLY COW! What an easy TD for AZ!
Stephen Tsai — It’s Shimooka’s revenge for you not returning that missing vowel sound in his name… 🙂
Holy crap!!!
UH CHEERLEADERS!!!! NO KA OI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow
that was a great one.
what sort of name is Hi-Hat?
Hey, I’m missing a vowel sound, too.
i dont really care for goeas as a coach for UH. agents remind me of car salesman, fast talking. does he even have the knowledge to coach? was derby ever considered for the OL position? or is he even interested in it?
so whos decision was it to start #37 dickerson at RB? i dont think that was the main problem. we lost it with many mistakes. kelly missing FGs. bess falling down on his route and dropping passes. ilaoa fumbling. colt’s alligator arm pass to rivers on 4th down which was always an automatic….i was pretty drunk, but i think all those things happened in 2006.
If anyone cares, Arizona is up 21-17 in the 3rd Q
i didn’t like it when shimoooooka did a news piece and went to japan and pretended to be a ninja and ran around like an idiot in a ninja outfit and looked like a fool. he first can’t pronounce his name right and then makes fun of his heritage like that.
is paula abdul crying?
i think i just might take more pictures tonight of the winners.
and share it for all of you
i wonder if they’ll have that trophy at tonight’s game
oops, did i ruin the outcome for al? i’m sorry.
No matter the sport, they wear the Green and the White and the “H” on their chests!!!!
CONGRATS UH CHEERLEADERS!!!!!! NO KA OI!!!!
WAY TO REPRESENT!!!!!!!!!!!!
there’s a cheerleading magazine?
wow, the nfl refs are pretending to be wac refs and are sucking it.
Chawan,
I tell you… she’s on something…
But I was just thinking the same thing too if the cheerleaders will have some extra spotlight on them at halftime tonight.
They should, they’re really underappreciated considering the level of talent and success they’ve had over the years in their respective sport.
Ok.. now I can go pick up my car now!
we are the only d-1 school that is looking for an oline coach to come in to help our lame oline coach.
this is truly amazing!
how bout we fire our lame oline coach and hire a new one!
but thats Hawaii for ya!
28-17 Cards.
Yee Haw AZ!!!
Ronnie, who you going to cheer for in the late game with Indy and the Chargers.
HiFlyer, I’m cheering for the Chargers. I like Peyton Manning’s commercials, but not so much his team….
I can’t wait until tomorrow when I get to watch Davone.
And don’t forget: Davone’s a blog reader.
Good Luck Tommorrow Davone…
I’ve been rocking your jersey ever since I got it for Christmas… representin you out here in Cali! Was at Six Flags during New Years and had a bunch of people ask about the jersey and nothing against you but was surprised at how many people knew who you were! The common thing that was said was oh, Davone Bess from Miami yeah I picked that guy up on my Fantasy Football team he’s been getting me points every week…lol.
Now, if we can only get PB to wear his blog shirt at Six Flags …
I’m not very good at anatomy, but I imagine a “detached tendon in the groin area” is not a preferred injury.
Wow… just like that, PG> became a PB! Magic! 😯 😆 😯
That being said, I’m looking forward to watching Miami’s game tomorrow. What’s fun about watching Bess is that you can see he isn’t the biggest or fastest guy out there, but he’s very disciplined and comes to play. Lotsa fire in his play.
If you’re reading this, go get ’em Davone! And tell Samson we’re rootin’ for him too!
Good Luck Davone!
heheheh
ST,
To tell you the truth I’ve worn it while coaching my sons football team and met a mother from another team who was from Hawaii who asked about the shirt. She is a UH Football Fan too and was wondering who the Tsaiko’s were because she saw the Tsaiko sign before at a home football game. I told her to look up the blog and say hello but don’t know if she ever did. Anyway don’t worry I wear my green/white/Tsai-ko/former players colors/jerseys/shirts with pride!
Does anyone know if tonights mbb game will be on K5 or is it PPV.
Good luck to Samson and Davone tomorrow.
Good luck to Samson Satele too…cannot have success without the man in the middle!
Reading PB’s comments while watching the Chargers reminds me of a movie I once saw….
Pauoa Boy,
Still get Baby Blue Marines?
HiFlyer,
K5.
Freddie Keiaho went to Waianae High School?
Ya know, saying Samson’s and Davone’s name will always make us miss them. But it sure feels good to say their names in the same sentence as as the word “playoffs”.
Piling on….
What really grabs my attention and instills my deep fan appreciation is how complete a player Davone is. Even when he isn’t the intended receiver (or if it’s a running play), he’s participating in the play, selling his route, making a key block down field, following after a play to deliver additional down-field blocking, making sure the ball doesn’t pop free, and even helping up his teammate after the play. Davone’s head is always in the game!
ST – your comment on top regarding how the “Warriors probably could use more players like Davone Bess” is a key and reinforces our discussion of leadership needed by the Warriors. Some leaders are vocal, rah-rah types. Some (probably the most effective) are the ones that lead by example, on and off the field. That is Davone Bess – WARRIOR!!! 😀
d1島,
We know call em Baby Blue we just tell em… “Couldn’t Hack it Had to Pack It” on in my own words I just tell em “Beat It Geek”!
Whoahhh….. Who unleashed the Blue d1島 Monster!!! 😯 😈 🙄
d1, thanks
Thinking of going to the game, but depends how long the Indy/SD game goes.
Did D Bess remember to let someone know where the JUGS machine can be found in the pre-dawn hours?
Why is ST looking at male cheerleaders??? Whatever happened to those amazon dancers???
Go Davone!!!!!!
Hey…. P-Boy – Please…. get plenty of geeks around here and you don’t want to be hurting
ourtheir feelings….. 🙄 😀 😯brew,
Just finished catching up reading some of the posted comments
😉
heheheh
brew808,
no pun intended just a figure of speech…geek 🙂
Heheheh… Just what I suspected #247, #248, #263 – d1島 is NOT an old dog (hear that Bones) and CAN learn new tricks! He’s now the d1島 Blue Monster!!! 😯
Should I be concerned that I might know d1島 so well? Yikes! 😯 😈 😆
Question: I’ve been around teenagers in a feeding frenzy. Heck – I was once one of them. But what happens when they’re 6’4″ 280# and just 13 yr. old, and an active athlete? Yikes! 😯 😀 😯
Hey, Mrs. d1島 – Do you lurk? Please note that YOU CAN STILL TEACH THAT HUSBAND OF YOURS a few new tricks. Try teach him plenty! Right – d1島? 😈 😯 😆
😯 Someone’s gotta learn to stop jumping the gun…
Hey d1島 … this is a family blog. No discussions about any premature stuff…. 😈 😀
brew,
She no lurk…only konk on the head when she hear stuff at the live events 😯
Maybe I should stop bringing her?
heheheh
Let’s see if I can find her email addy…. 🙄
Jason,
Glad you got the package!
Any Tsaikos attending tonight’s MBB game vs. the BS-donkeys? I want to know who to look for in the crowd. Yeah – I know about the traffic cone. Anyone have the special celebrity seats behind the UH bench? It was kind of fun teasing Jason and the baboozes. 😆
Howzit djmitcho!
You gonna be able to make it over to Oahu for a CC?
Ehhhhhh…. How’s my buddy, my pal, my cousin djmitcho! 😀 Happy New Year to you! Aren’t you missing the snow and cold of E. Wash? Have you adjusted the controls from defrost to tan? Enjoy you vacation! 😆
So it seems like Pepsi has reverted back to regular Pepsi as it’s flagship drink.
None of the current Warriors have the work ethic of Bess and thats why we have problems against solid teams
the mtv cheerleading show will be repeated from 430-600.
I find it bizarre to find the 8-8 Chargers as the home team against the 12-4 Cots. Somehow – it doesn’t seem fair… especially knowing how WEAK the AFC (and NFC) West was this NFL season. 🙄
Brew ~ San Diego weather or Baltimore winter? It’s about fair play weather, not play-off fairness.
Coach Bulla ~ You have mail.
i say that the “new” vili thats a part of the cheer squad would do good for UH. he is a student and represents us well. that and he’s cheaper than vili.
Sheesshh…. How many Bozo’s are needed for a half-time show? This is ridiculous! 😈
Howzit d1, brew!!! like da new color?
crap what happened? ok. let’s try that again.
Howzit brew, d1!!! Like da new color?
dang it. UH UH UH
What are the statistical likelihood that someone will get it right on her their attempt? 😯
gunfunnit. i give up. waaah.
It really is simple to do… even for a Hoya! 😈
Well – you get partial credit for trying so hard…. 😀
Also – quite a stubborn streak in ya huh? 😯
Really have to admire that Hoya Chutzpah! You go girl! 😆
kekoa,
replied to your mail, mahalo
blue blue blue
Aaaaaa…. Howzit jmxxxx!
Gotta go…play nice, eh you folks!
Football is a game of inches.
Had to watch the end of the game before I go….
would a safety have been better for the Colts? 😕
An inch here and an inch there and you lose the ballgame.
Kicker kicks an inch to the right and we win. An inch to the left and we lose.
also wondering if Rich2176 had anything to do with UH cheerleaders being on that MTV show with Paula Abdul?
Wassup Pride.!
Left tackle takes that four inch step with his left foot and gets to the DE on time and we win. Left tackle doesn’t gain any ground on that first step misses the DE by an inch who sacks the QB on the last play and we lose the ballgame.
Hmmm…that safety would have meant the Chargers start this drive back 20 more yards….
Sometimes adjustments required aren’t real big ones, but just a lot of very small ones.
….and maybe an OL coach has a better off-season????
Small little details here and there to our player’s basic fundamentals. Proper steps, footwork, aiming points, alignments, hand placements. All of it small little details. Inches. Inches here and there. Details.
….it’s only a “chip shot” if you make it!
Haha D1.
I’m not an expert, but when I watch the Colts go with an empty set from inside their 10, well …
It ended up with a sack.
“You’ve got to care enough about the guy next to you to carry out the DETAILS of your assignment.”
How come nobody is nicknamed “Chip” anymore?
I mean, who’s “off the old block” now?
Good thing Mrs. d1島 is responsible for dessert at the party… 😉
Good ending in the game plus get bonus good stuff from Pride. 🙂
I hate empty sets. Oops, did I say that out loud.
Empty sets. Pet peeve.
Wow!
Who’s gonna show up next?
al?
Koakane?
Stretch?
Pretty sure it won’t be Bulla!
Leo Goeas would be a good hire. Derby would be a no brainer, but already has a good job. Michael Beasley would be a great hire but would have to take a severe cut in pay. Jesse Sapolu would be another no-brainer, but as a 49er fan I’d much rather see him be the 49ers O-line coach.
Eh, Donovan! Pay attention to the OT rules! No ties!
(not JD)
Stephen,
so are we taliking fait accompli here?
taliking=talking 😳
d1
tsk tsk tsk, play nicely someone said earlier, or i’ll tell your mommy
Interesting thing about Stephen Tsai, is he usually doesn’t say anything until he checks, double checks, triple checks, and then quadruple checks his information and his scources.
I find it interesting that he would throw out Leo Goeas’ name. Like Aunty Liz said, last year at this time, Tsai threw out coach Mack’s name for us to toss around and discuss.
Pride,
always on the cutting edge with you insight. mahalo for a great 2008, let’s Arise and Shine in 2009
What’s the going rate (percentage) for current NFL sports agents? (too lazy to look it up…) 😯
Bulla,
😳
When you look up “acceleration” in Webster’s, they should have a picture of Darren Sproles
d1
so nice to seeeeeeeeeeeeeee you again, haha
Also, do sports agents get their percentage up front off of the entire negotiated package (makes some sense due to bonuses), or is it annualized with the players salary? (again – too lazy to look it up…) 😯
I remember hearing Leo Goeas’ name many year’s ago when he was only a pre-teen. I had heard secondhand that he was supposed to have been such a bright, intelligent, and precocious young man, that he was targeted to succeed Nainoa Thompson as the Hokule’a navigator and was to spend years training under Nainoa’s wing. Apparently Leo made another career choice that took him elsewhere out of state.
Like I said, the information was second hand. I am throwing it out there without checking, double checking, triple checking, and qradruple checking my information or my scources, because I am irresponsible and not a licensed jounalist.
acceleration=Sproles
C Ya…..
If a player changes agents in the middle of a multi-year contract, how do the old and new agents distribute their fees and percentages? Sorry for all the questions. My agent lost his phone service, office lease, and family.
Game over. Yeah Chargers!!! Who is LT? 😀
Bulla. I have a feeling that the Beast’s off-season training is going to be accelerated with his new position coach. I know though, that Ryan is up to the task.
Ryans’ vision for himself is now going to be up close and personal, if you know what I mean.
Not many people in Hawaii realize what a BEAST his position coach was as a player.
Jesse Sapolu as 49ers O-line coach. That sounds … right. 🙂
Love the new prices on food here at the SSC. Nachos are $5.40 (20% off), bottled water $2.40 (20% off). chawan_cut said saimin was $2.00. I saw fries were $2.00, too. A lot better than what it used to be.
Pride
the off season is where the foundation is laid for success in the season as you can attest to personally. ryan is very, very excited with his new coach and knows that the path to victory will be paved with hard work, sweat and blood equity, and hours of training and resting. one of the nicest surprises i had on christmas day was a call from our friend dennis ishii.
he had only good things to say, and we discussed what options are becoming available for ryan. very, very interesting and we can talk more in person, but let’s say his future is very promising.
i believe things happen for a reason, every day, every breath has been orchestrated for us already and we are merely following through the script that is written.
thank you for sharing, thank you for your insight, but i do believe that the ‘winds of change’ are blowing in manoa as we speak…and when the dust settles, we are all going to be pleasantly surprised.
by the way, Happy New Year 🙂
I hope Papa John’s has good pizza. Damn, no more Pizza Hut or Dominos delivery. Too lazy to cook. Too lazy to leave the house to pick up food.
Stretch – how come no more Pizza Hut delivery? Papa Johns is kinda bland. I think dat’s why kids like it.
uhh, what about Room Svc in Paradise or whateva its called?
jm – I guess no more store close enough for Pizza Hut and Dominos. Not sure why since Papa Johns is coming from Hawaii Kai.
stretch, why aren’t you at the bb game. den you couldv’e eaten there.
Not sure anyone will believe me but I actually changed the flooring in one of the bedrooms so I am too tired to do anything now. I am watching the game on tv.
This pizza is not too bad. I guess anything tastes good when you are too lazy to cook or pick up.
Brian Derby – lots of “hits” on google; I read only a few.
I keyed in brian derby, football, hawaii
Also, for Reeve Koehler:
reeve koehler, football, hawaii
Lots to scan, if you have time. some are redundent (sp).
Hi folks. I still have a cold and keep falling asleep. Have fun wherever you are!
Second half starting. UH down 35-29. A little work to do.
Stretch….I have been renovating my house for a couple years now. Just got my floors from Euro Floors Hawaii…had to unload and carry them inside. got about 900sqft to do. Not ready quite yet….other things to do first like walls and cabinets…let me know if you have any pointers to make installing my floors easier and faster….congrats on your accomplishment. I’m watching the game too after working on the house for several days…Hawaii just caught up and behind only 49-46…plus they got the ball on a turnover now.
I’m a little feverish. Did I just dream this… 😕
Midori7’s birthday list has Tina on January 10. I called her boss, who said she wasn’t sure but they gave her presents already. Boss is giving me a large room to conduct an investigation on the 10th. Gotta start rehearsals too… 😆
Another disappointing performance by the bball team. turnovers are a killer.
down 2 with 4 minutes to go and they end up losing by 12.
mano1 – I am trying to figure it out the floor installation myself, first time for me.
Stretch
right to many turnovers. I don’t know what type of offense that coach nash is trying to run, but the transition game seems so slow that when they do get a steal no one is hustling down the court and they miss the opporunity for easy baskets.
in any game,
you have to have a certain degree of talent and you must have a high intelligence quotient for the game to be competitive.
…nuff said.
how do we get there.
you have to be able to recognize athletic talent and be able to recruit them to your institution.
you have to be able to hone their skills. coach them up as they say these days.
you have to players who understand the game and can absorb the nuances of the game to reach that high intelligence quotient for the game.
…we have a lot to work on.
oops….have to have.
For Rob25 – watch Iron Chef America on now. Secret ingredient is suckling pig. hehehehe
Leo Goeas is a very interesting name to be brought up–smart, played for UH, successful as an agent that represents a number of Warriors. I’ve never heard of an agent changing careers to become an assistant coach…the pay would be much less and he’d have to sever all ties with his current job.
But there is a story behind ST bringing his name up that I’m sure is very, very interesting.
las vegas,
(You must be working…it’s Saturday night…) but when you get back to the blog…
Have you eaten at Hata’s on S. King St.? I didn’t see your picture up on the wall with Konishiki’s…Good food.
WooHoo Cardinals!
Soooweeee!
With so much innuendo going around concerning future changes on the UH coaching staff, I never did think it was a good idea to let whatever changes to fester. This waiting around is so reminiscent of HF. And it’s unhealthy to the players. Unfair to the recruits. And it’s not bridging the gap of how I think of Coach Mack as a leader.
This indecisiveness I question because if it has me impassioned. And I think a lot of others fill the same way. For all we are hearing, presently, are little whispers and insider’s gossip about that purported coaching changes are in the works, especially with possibly replacing the OL coach.
What’s written on blogs and forums, especially concerning the OL, I know it doesn’t fall on deaf ears with the coaching staff and Coach Mack. And the players. He has to know and feel the pulse of all these rumblings. Yet all we are hearing is that change is coming, change is coming, change is coming…so reminiscent of that character out of Fantasy island, Tattoo…”The plane, the plane, the plane”. He even looks and talks like Coach Mack …that’s how mad I am.
Furthermore all this drama, speculation and innuendo on what Coach Mack is thinking of doing only hurts the team as they too are looking up to a leader. And the longer it festers the worst it gets. For the way I look at the Coach Mack’s indecisiveness… as not helping and promoting team harmony, respect and leadership amongst the players. And among the fans longing to support the team they too want to look up at a leader they can trust and respect..
Yet it would have been too ridiculously easy for Coach Mack to publicly announce that we are actively in a search to replace our OL coach. And he could have done this a few days after the bowl game and sparred a lot of innuendo in the football community and gained a lot of respect from a lot people, especially his players. For which I think is very important. The next big,big implosion from me is when I hear that after all this innuendo–no change takes place.
FloridaTed,
I think there was a player who signed the AZ Cardinals visor you won who was assigned a number in the 80’s. I thought it was 83, but I don’t think it was Steven Spach; might have been a rookie who didn’t make the team. Could you check the cap against the sheet listing the players who autographed the cap, please. I’m curious… Mahalo!
Just Saying,
That is a very interesting comment, especially when you don’t explain what off-topic stuff you were referring to. Yesterday’s discussion was pretty on topic about UH, college football, BCS, MWC, etc.
You went on my blog to proclaim your boredom…when that blog was about JD talking about the state of UH Athletic’s budget and how he might have to cut back on Athletic Staff. The budget crunch will also probably have to result in cutbacks in the budgets for the athletic teams at UH. That is off topic?
Maybe you were referring to my posts here on the day that you made your comment on my blog. I sent in some free play links when whitey and others made a call to try to get the post count up. If my 20 or so links bored you, there were over 1200 posts on that blog so there was a lot of other stuff to read! There were well over 100 posts that just said that people wanted to get the post count up…I hope you weren’t bored with all of them too.
The funny thing is that homey2shawty…DA BEAST YO! commented on my blog 2 minutes after you commented on my blog about how I should stop spamming ST’s blog. So, I guess you had someone that agreed with your position and just coincidentally happened to comment on my blog at the same time you made your comment. That person had the same IP address as you, which means that I shouldn’t be surprised that the comment agreed with yours.
Article in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel spotlights the tough job that Samson has in the game tomorrow…
roysan….did it ever occur to you that perhaps a decision has not been made, therefore, he is not holding out on an annoucement.
there will be deep impact no matter who he picks or who gets shuffled about and who ends up coaching lineman, running backs, etc.
why fan the flames of rumors and innuendos at this point?
Stretch – First time for me too. I’ve been asking around trying to gain as much info before I hack away at my floor. Seems one installer says i should start from my entry way. Lines should flow to make the room seem larger (depends if you want vertical seem longer or horizontal seem wider). from the websites..they say join 3 boards to start with at least 12 in overlap to start then slide them flush to wall with spacers already flushed against it. Then go from there until you need a clean cut with a saw. liquid glue joints (door ways etc). Should use plastic vapor barrier plus rubber pad to keep boards dry and give it that soft feeling when you walk. finish with qtr round or some kind of base board. I’m borrowing my pals saw to make things easier (not sure if easier means good or bad). Could be earlier and faster to a lot of mistakes ? Good luck.
Howzit Garret! Always enjoy reading your stuff. Mahalo & Happy New Year to you and the family.
Article strongly in favor of a college football playoff includes a pretty weak comment from the BCS Commissioner. This guy is making millions to oversee and promote the BCS and he can’t come up with a better argument than this?
jm2375 ~ Put your granny glasses on and check your email box.
mano1 – I started in one of the bedrooms to “practice” before I start doing things to the main areas of the house.
Kekoa,
Happy New Year to you and your family also!
I’m not upset at the comments on my blog, I’m just trying to get clarification as to what they were referring to–is it the football related links or the free play links? Frankly, I would stop the free play links if I thought that ST would want that, but he’s indicated that he likes me posting them.
I adhere to the rule ST made a long time ago that off-topic posts should occur after 9pm Hawaii Time…he declared that “free play time”, which is why I wait until them to post them. Of course, off-topic stuff occurs all day and the 9pm rule stopped being followed pretty quickly after it started, but I figure the free play links should at least adhere to the free play rule ST set.
That reminds me–free play link time. Please ignore my next 5 posts if you don’t want to read the off topic stuff and get bored.
Rumors are that Toyota is working on a solar-powered Prius.

brew808,
From what I understand, if a player under contract with a team switches agents, his former agent will still collect on the contract that was established when he was the agent and the new agent will collect on future contracts.
Articles about a few athletes that have switched agents have mentioned that. So, I guess if Leo Geoas retired from being an agent he’d still get some residual money from his current clients.
Favre seemed to indicate that he’s going to retire. Pennington is going to sign a long-term deal with division-rival and playoff-bound Miami after this season…that move sure didn’t pay off for the Jets.
The Chargers win means that Rubios is giving out free fish tacos on Wednesday at all of their San Diego County locations. One fish taco per person per Rubios…
If you will be in the San Diego area on Wednesday and want the free fish tacos, make sure you print out several copies of this coupon…you’ll need one printout per fish taco.

The amount of times you post things that I’m currently thinking scares me. Get your own ideas. 😉
addahknowjoe,
I do have a number of solutions/suggestions, but we can talk about that the next time we have a Cattle Call together. There are several positives that I’ve mentioned before that will help UH and the WAC:
1. NMSU and Utah State seem to have hired excellent coaches. Having the bottom of the WAC improve is critical for the WAC to gain respect as a conference. Plus, if they do *not* improve, their attendance figures could force them to drop out of D-IA, which could end the WAC as a conference. That is another reason why the WAC cannot just kick out teams–lose too many teams and the WAC won’t qualify as a conference anymore!
The two biggest hires to me were SDSU and NMSU because those two schools got excellent coaches and needed to make good hires. I thought that Ball State’s Hoke would get a BCS conference job, or at least a good non-BCS conference job…I never thought that SDSU would get him! And SDSU’s 2nd choice was Walker, who will do a great job at NMSU and who I thought would have done a great job at UCLA if he got the job last year.
2. Obama doesn’t like the BCS and Congressmen from all over the country (Texas, Hawaii, etc.) are putting pressure on the BCS. Do I think that will end the BCS? No, especially since ESPN has the TV deal for the next 5 years. However, the last time that political pressure was put on the BCS they had to open up a BCS buster spot and increase the money paid out to non-BCS conference teams (even in years when there is no BCS buster). So, I’m guessing that the BCS will have to give something up, and will have to make it significant, to get some of the pressure off of them. That will be great for schools like UH!
The way the BCS got the additional money and spots available was by adding a BCS game. They can do a similar thing again this time–add another bowl that creates 2 more BCS spots and that generates money that they can give (bribe) the non-BCS conferences with. That will probably work. I read the Dallas and Fort Worth papers every day and it is clear that the Cotton Bowl will be trying hard for the next BCS Bowl…the Cowboys’ stadium has the luxury boxes and other things that will generate huge money for a BCS game.
Adding another BCS game will probably mean that there will be 2 spots for non-BCS conference teams, or that they will add a conference (say the MWC) and still keep another spot open. If the BCS has to keep adding BCS bowl games, then eventually enough bowl games will be part of the BCS that it won’t be that big of a distinction anymore. This is more feasible now that ESPN has the rights to the BCS bowl games (they outbid Fox, their 5-year contract starts I think after this season) and ESPN owns so many other bowls (like the Hawaii Bowl).
3. The playoff talk is really just talk as long as ESPN has the 5-year exclusive contract for BCS games, and their contract hasn’t even started yet! ESPN controls everything now, why would they want a playoff system? That doesn’t bother me that much since UH isn’t in a position to be invited to a 4- or 8-team playoff now. If Mac and the coaches can execute their plan and keep recruiting strong over a period of years so that UH doesn’t have the dips it has had in the past, then UH will be in great shape in 5 years when everything could change in college football.
The key is to be good in football *and* basketball in 4 years. That is crucial because conferences will be looking at expansion, conferences will be reviewed for BCS status, and lots of deals will be made. UH has a lot of time to get things in order, and I am glad that JD is piloting the ship instead of HF!
4. SDSU hiring a good coach actually benefits the WAC and UH. If SDSU had to fold their program (many students and faculty are backing that idea), then the MWC would need to add 2 teams instead of 1 in the future…I’d guess BSU and one of Nevada/Fresno State/SMU. Plus, if SDSU ever got good again maybe UH would do a home-and-home series and I have the perfect place for a Cattle Call!
The rest of the stuff I’ll save for a Cattle Call…I’ve got to get offline now.
Jason,
brew808 doesn’t say much about his work, but I know a little about the place that he works. I think that I’d put him farther up the scale than me!
MeiLing,
I don’t have anybody in the 80’s on the visor.
I have : 32, 91(maybe it’s 81), 24, 13, 33, 67, 7, 25.
I hope that helps, I can’t really read the names, you have to look at their roster.
And I’ve worked with a lot of quantum physicists and math majors and there are a lot of them that are smarter than a lot of engineers…the only thing I’d say is that the quantum physicists I worked with were more unique in personality than any other group.
Garret,
Eat a fish taco for me. Rubio’s is da best!
jason….like papa like son.
so brew gets the title of #1 nerd? mwahahahahaha!! 😆
For so long, we’ve held Garret as the standard of Tsai-ko academic excellence. To elevate brew808 to that position would take a thorough background check, and I’m afraid Kekoa doesn’t have enough friends in high places to break through all that secrecy. 😛
Anyways … I know a lot of mathematicians, scientists, and engineers, and all of them are smarter than Stretch. That is a fact no one can deny. 😉
the pill box for example……….no lines.
Garret-
As I’ve said before, it’s easy for anyone to be a Monday morning quarterback and recite the wrongs that exist. What’s tough is suggesting solutions and leaving oneself open to what he hope to be constructive criticism.
Bigtime Mahalo for your insights.
Definately don’t want to be known as a nerd.
al – possibly, depends on the drug. Sometimes I pay less than my $5 copay for my drugs at Sams than if I went elsewhere, where I would pay the full $5.
Hey, jm2375 is here!
A statistics major was completely hung over the day of his final exam. It was a True/False test, so he decided to flip a coin for the answers. The stats professor watched the student the entire two hours as he was flipping the coin … writing the answer … flipping the coin … writing the answer.
At the end of the two hours, everyone else had left the final except for the one student. The professor walks up to his desk and interrupts the student, saying: “Listen, I have seen that you did not study for this statistics test, you didn’t even open the exam. If you are just flipping a coin for your answer, what is taking you so long?”
The student replies bitterly, as he is still flipping the coin: “Shhh! I am checking my answers!”
jason – hahaha. now go to your room! you’re in time out!

Ditto. WB and UH sports are LUCKY to have a blogger like Garret. He’s easily one of the cornerstones here…
Statistics majors know how to party??
jason….don’t judge a book by its cover.
stretch is much wiser than he pretends.
smart guys don’t play the role, just sit back and observe. often playing the fool going about their lives just listening and absorbing.
wise men are judged by how many listen to them and the number of loyal friends that they have throughout their life.
FloridaTed,
K, that was Anquan Boldin (#81) on the visor. Wished him “Good Luck this year!” when I had him sign since he was thinking that he might only be with the Cards for one year. It was cool to see Stephen Spach make that catch to end the game tonight. Thanks for checking!
Night!
Jason ~ You are absolutely correct. I no longer am able to penetrate the security cloak that Brew is shielded by. Conversely, he has access to lots of information on you, so mind your manners.
al: Geez, and you say I need to lighten up. I have nothing but respect for Stretch,
chawan_cut, and jm2375. But it’s much too fun to tease them. 😀Kekoa: Oh dear.
I’ve played cat and mouse with brew808 for almost two years now–and I always end up being the mouse… 🙁
But I consider brew an old familiar friend and blogger. He is the mystery person in the third row left of the original Tsai-ko caricature. Besides, my own contacts got intel on him but told me I would have to keep it a secret from myself if they told me 😕
did you boys know that ngn has a free preview since ny’s day?
Two very interesting hires by the new San Diego State head coach. Former New Mexico head coach Rocky Long as the new defensive coordinator and former Auburn offensive coordinator Al Borges to do the same at SDSU. Both hires have longtime west coast ties at schools like Oregon State, Oregon, UCLA, and Cal. You’ve got to believe that they would start knocking on doors in Hawaii in the next few years.
I truly believe though that the success of SDSU’s program will be tied to it’s ability to recruit in their own backyard. San Diego is a hotbed for football talent, but the local school has always struggled to keep it’s best players home. Guys like Marcus Allen, Reggie Bush, Ricky Williams, and Rashaan Salaam just to name a few players that originated from the county.
Thanks to the Utah Utes in the Sugar Bowl, we can now start planning our offensive gameplan for next year’s Utah State game.
Interesting stuff Pride.
Wasn’t Pisa also from SoCal?
Thanks to al’s ref to NGN I started to yootoob things Nippon.
Was gonna put up Kyu Sakamoto but I’ve already done that and this Vietnamese girl looks better….

heheheh
Oyasumina-tsai….
You’re right D1, Pisa is from that same county, as is Junior Seau.
The new Utah State coach doesn’t have much experience coaching outside of the state of Utah. He does appear to be a very good coach though, with a very good defensive scheme. With the addition of Chad Kauha’aha’a to the Aggies staff, it would be easy to assume that the Aggies will try to pull a few athletes away from Hawaii to play in Logan.
With only 2.5 million people living in the state of Utah, and three FBS D1 programs, recruiting will be intense in Utah. Not to mention two FCS D1 programs too.
Happy Belated birthday 01/03 to:
Former Castle Knight and current Warrior QB turned RB, Bryce Kalauoka’aea.
and
Former Warrior Olineman Clarence “Lafu” Tuioti-Mariner
In the 90’s can you guess what team was 9-0 against Hawaii?
.

Nope not BYU

It was SDSU
While I congratulate the NMSU Aggies on making what apparently looks like a good hire for their football program, I also wonder how long that hire will end up staying in Las Cruces. With stops at UCLA, USC, the Redskins, Giants, and Patriots, Dewayne Walker may be tough coach to keep tied down in Las Cruces.
With Nalani attending the next KK, I’m wondering, has anyone previously sang a Na Leo song?
That’s like someone singing a Paula Abdul song in American Idol.
If you attempt it, you better nail it and not butcher it.

So Jason, please don’t attempt to sing.

I’m always amazed that for all the talent in SoCal that SDSU has won only ONE conference championship (1986).
Pride speaking of NMSt and coaches bailing, reminds me of Reggie Theus. In 2005 he was hired by NMSt and in 2 years took their BBall team to the NCAA tournament.
He chased the big bucks of the NBA but in 2 years he flopped with the SacKings with a combined 44-62 record and was fired after just 2 seasons.
Image where NMSt BBall would be now if he had stayed and built up the programs???

BigWave ~ I was awakened by my neighbors dog wailing to the sound of the paramedic’s siren. Then I took a peek at the blog and I see you mention something about singing Nalani’s signature song. I believe that this is the mismatch you are referring to if ST took a stab at it.

Good Morning Tsai-kos!
bulla 104
amen amen amen!
…and another thing. Your observation of Reggie Theus, reminded me of his time in Sacramento. In ’89 when the Sacramento Kings coach was fired. I watched NBA legend Bill Russell walk out to his lonely little car in the big empty parking lot of ARCO arena. Tucked under his arm was a small box of personal items.
I waved and continued up to the ticket window to purchase tickets to a “farewell” game. Soon to be retiring Laker – Legend K. A. Jabbar was on his last swing thru Sac town. The ticket lady said, “Mr. Russell came by to tell us how he appreciated their hard work…what a gentleman!”
No doubt that this man loved the game. He just couldn’t articulate it as an announcer on the network telecasts. He also could not coach it as well as he could play it. It was a sad moment indeed, as he disappeared into the sunset.
New post!
wow 236
wow wow wow. 😀
Goes may be good, but don’t know what kind of real world coaching experience he has. We don’t need ‘local’ coaches per se, but need experienced coaches. We’ve already seen what the Lee brothers and the othe inexperienced staff has done to the team this year.
