Jones-UH dispute reached: UH, charity to receive $200,010
According to a news release, UH and a Hawai‘i-based representative for June Jones jointly announced the “resolution of all issues involving the contract between UH and the former head coach.”
According to the release, “the resolution was accompanied by the receipt by the University of Hawai‘i Foundation of two donations to the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa totaling $200,010.”
This is the distribution:
• The June Jones Foundation donated $100,010 to Na Lei O‘iwi Scholarship Fund in the name of the late Dr. Kanalu Young.
• An anonymous donor has contributed $100,000 to be used at the discretion of UH Manoa chancellor Virginia Hinshaw.
Other statements from the release:
UH president David McClain: “The University is pleased to be able to move forward with the matter resolved. June Jones has contributed much ot the UH Manoa football program and our community, and this resolution lays the foundation for our continuing relationship. I’m grateful to mediator Clyde Matsui and to (Jones spokesman) John De Fries for their efforts in this matter, and to all those who assisted them in these efforts.”
June Jones: “Our foundation’s monetary gift in memory of Dr. Kanalu Young honors the life and legacy of a great Hawaiian man. For me, Kanalu will always be remembered as the Warrior Elder of the Ha‘a, UH’s pregame ritual that ignites and unifies the spirit of all UH Warriors. For thte June Jones Foundation, this gift represents the first of two philanthropic initiatives that will benefit the University of Hawai‘i system in the coming year.
“Thank you, David McClain, Virginia Hinshaw and the Board of Regents for you combined support of the resolution initiatives. Hawai‘i is my home; therefore as I look beyond our past achievements in fooball, maintaining a healthy relationship with UH and sustaining productive contributions to our island communities will always be important to me. On Christmas Eve, beat Notre Dame.”

It’s official: Next year’s game between host Washington State and UH will be played in Seattle. Time to book your Seattle-Las Vegas packages.
* * *
Defensive tackle David Hafoka of College of San Mateo; wideout Rodney Bradley and cornerback Melvin “Tank” Hopkins of Navarro College; offensive tackle Brett Leonaord of Saddleback College, and cornerback Lametrius Davis of Butte College have signed agreements to play for the Warriors. They will enroll in January.
Running back Chizzy Dimude of Laney College is awaiting approval of one of his classes. Depending on the outcome, he will join UH in January or May.
* * *
Each member of the UH football team will receive up to $500 in gifts from the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl. The gifts will be time released. But the first one, was somewhat startling. At first, the players joked they were receiving large pizzas. Here’s Keala Watson carrying a box:
But inside, the gift turned out to be a beach chair:
Which, as it turned out, might be more useful than last year’s entire gift from the Sugar Bowl: a pleather jacket (modeled today by Ryan Mouton):

Yes, that’s Micah Kia, UCLA lineman and younger brother of UH’s Aaron Kia. And, no, he’s not transferring to UH.
* * *
It doesn’t snow in Hawai‘i. Nor in Houston. Nor at Saint Louis School, where the Warriors practiced today. During a break, Mouton gathered the rubber granules and tried to build a castle. Keao Monteilh did his version of, uh, snow angel:

Wanted to let everyone know that we got just over $100 to donate to the Advertiser Christmas Fund last night..thanks to all for their donations. I’ll be getting it to the ‘Tizer on Monday.
Thanks to ST for the door prizes.
Special Thanks to Mrs. A-House, Mr. A-House, and Midori7 for more door prizes and coming up with the awesome and fun games.
Thanks to the Twins (UHFan808 and Midori7) for the cake…always a good choice.
Thanks to d1shima and Mrs. d1shima for the favors….
Thanks to Addahknowjoe and Addahknowsports for the awesome ornaments….my slippah hanging from my tree already…LMAO…
and Thanks to all the Tsaikos for a good time….
If I missed anyone or anything, I apologize….but when you’re getting old, you forget things….
At least Chizzy is fo’ shizzle.
wow.. where did everyone come from??
I came from my mom.
Is Masch still coming in Jan?
Will there be a surprise JC LOI in the fax machine?
Chizzy Chizzle will sizzle the Aloha Stadium tizzle fo’ shizzle my nizzle dizzle.
Having these guys come in January is HUGE!!! I don’t recall it ever happening before at UH. Included will be Stutz2. The extra time in the system will allow them to learn and get comfortable.
Top 10?
I think for fun I’m gonna fax in koakane’s LOI.
yeah, they goin’ find a fax from 1995 still jammed in the machine.
jm%&#^ – and you work with numbers?
Stretch – didn’t you say that before? Or is there a fake Stretch? But then again how can you fake a Stretch?
Good signs!!!
Welcome, new Warriors!
TGIJCLOIF!
Go Warriors!
Looking good so far keep those letters coming. A surprise would be nice.
J-Dog – could that 1995 fax be from Tom Brady? Did he start college in ’95?
is that a real live jojo?
haven’t seen a jojo in a year.
Is Kevin Williams coming in may? On a interesting side note Preston Pace Davis’s teamate at Butte never sent his LOI to Louisville I wonder if we still get one shot at him would be a good get since Lee is going BYU.
homey – repeating myself so al can comprehend
Why would UH want a LOI from Koakane?? They have enough waterboys. Besides, he would probably spike it with some type of alcohol.
Wow the fax machine works. Welcome 5 + 1 Warriors.
chizzie “make you dizzy” dimude…..come on down!
we been waiting for you man. i think the jack sula and chizzie dizzie team will open some eyes in o-9.
interesting spring to look forward to- LaCount and Leonard at OT workouts..add on redshirts on OL and a fully recovered Pepa and we have a battle for positions….
its funny how a student in the california junior college program can take a course that the university of california(berkeley, davis, ucla, et al) will readily accept (of course it is there system) but the university of hawaii agonizes over the credibility issue.
don’t we want to welcome more students to our institution? this is not MIT or harvard.
anonymous donor?
what an smu alumni?
Stretch – oh ok…oops, I just did an al.
great news! was definitely worth the wait!
when do guys like stutzmann and sula sign their LOI’s? aren’t both enrolling at UH in jan. also?
how bout kalua noa? what’s the deal with that guy? he’s been out of school for awhile already…
stretch….i don’t understand what you said? can you print out your words so i can slowly and methodically comprehend?
sorry, eh. i running back and forth to the laundry room. today is friday and i have a dozen pants to wash.
Did anyone catch Tepa on the yahoo front page. Looks were still in good shape to get the LBP boys. Hopefully we can add a 3rd or maybe even a 4th commit before the recruiting season finishes it’s shaping up to be a great class so far now we just gotta wait until it’s official. Mack and the coaches I believe will be all over the recruits just making sure they don’t get swayed by a certain huskie coach.
Article about why some Notre Dame people are upset that they are going to the Hawaii Bowl (or any bowl) given their 6-6 record.
Thank goodness Al? Have you ever seen the dance team at M.I.T.?
I’m glad the JJ issue is settled and how the money is to be distributed..scholarship and discretionary funds for Virginia…no political tie ins where the money is put in the general fund-Virginia knows the needs of the University and its priorities and having discretionary funds will help her take a small step to attain her vision in making UH a top flight university….
haka….tks for spelling it out but what the heck is this?
TGIJCLOIF!
nevermind i just got it.
i think though, these days they refer to it as “nli”.
Since it’s official…
WELCOME TO MANOA:
David Hafoka
Rodney Bradley
Melvin “Tank” Hopkins of Navarro College
Brett Leonaord
Lametrius Davis
Article about how many teams lose money by going to bowl games. Interesting that the WAC gives $1.6 mil to bowls (including the Hawaii Bowl) in order to get WAC teams to play in those bowls.
June Jones,
Mahalo for your continued support of UH athletics.
I’m glad that the 5 JC recruits signed…and that Chizzy will be a Warrior too.
I’m glad that the JJ contract dispute has been settled. I figured it might be finalized at $200k, so UH got $10 more than I thought!
Long Beach Poly on TV this saturday, I believe they play Grant in the CIF quarterfinals, or there will be four championships for different divisions on TV
is that a real al.? Doing laundry on Friday? Or are you gigi?
pride….yah, those mit boys sure had some ugly legs on them. but, they sure could move those hips. i guess it is a trait akin to most engineers.
JJ was on radio this morning. He still supports the Warriors and watches games and even some of the local news.
good job UH Foundation!
Sounds like it was a no-contest plea, too.
UH gets its money; Jones doesn’t admit guilt or, for that matter, use any personal finances.
jojo….i have a lot of dirty laundry…pants esp.
worst case scenario is that i ran out of beck’s.
can anyone help me out on this?
eh, you live down the street eh?
bstunna2002 – got a link?
any of JJ’s money going to be able to trickle down to the football team?
Al’s doing only 3 loads, so Jojo, he needs to max out at 5 loads to reach Gigi status….
ST,
It sure sounds like a good deal for JJ…he didn’t use any of his personal money! UH gets its money and JJ keeps all of his money…
so how does one become a TSAIKO?
ST: typo
“a pleather jacket”
And this, perhaps?
Brett Leonaord
HiHo!
bstunna2002- to late, you qualify already!
MAHALO and ALOHA all involved in settling the June Jones matters.
Happy Holidays, indeed!
Homey
Sorry bloggin from work on my iphone so I can’t paste the link. I read the article and it said Hawaii is still on the top of his list and that he’ll be taking his visits in January.
Hey al, I believe you can put more than 1 pants in the machine.
pleather = pake leather. (chinese or filipino, makes sense both ways) lol.
al,
please air your dirty laundry somewhere else…
😉
bstunna2002
first you poop your pants, then, you wash all of them on friday all the while sipping a beck’s which you must nurse the whole day even if it is only chilled by your central air system, which in reality is only a split system unit. you can watch while sitting on your new, well, one year old blue carpet as you listen to yanni or watch tv on your 52 incher.
oh, and after your lean cuisine dinner or was it jenny craig, you stay at home and wait for your spouse who travels 5-10 miles away to rendezous at a fitness club.
oh, you can quit on several occasions, habut, but, three strikes you are out. after that no one will beg you back. you can lurk if you wish.
enough said.
Good Morning!
May I join James (Jesse) in thanking all who attended last evening’s Christmas Party at Murphy’s, not only for their usual enthusiasm and commitment to having a great time, but also for the unsolicited generosity in adding the “extras” that made the evening that much more special…
Myki and SJMacro, Mr. & Mrs. D1shima, A-Joe & A-Sports, Wafan, A-House, Midori, Stretch and Mrs. Heinekenhealer, thank you for the table favors and snacks, Warrior beads and door prizes.
And so, it is with a huge sigh of relief that I admit myself to the confines of retirement from any future game coordination. The fierce and often times serious competition last evening was a sight to behold, and I am genuinely appreciative of the effort and spirit put forth by the competitors. Congratulations to UHFan808, Chris from Kewalo, Dr. Heinekenhealer…oh…and to myself for picking my own number as the grand prize winner (yikes! how did that happen???). What can I say except, “win if you can, lose if you must, but always do what you need to do to pick your own name/number.”
Pride. – please give your thumb a hot soak and massage…you were a fierce competitor who went beyond the call of duty to participate and add to the fun and frivolity…and I appreciate that very much!
Wafan – Thank you for sending over the box of Aplets and Cotlets which was given out as a door prize.
Koakane – Just for you, I’ll repeat what the grand door prize was…a limited edition, one-of-a-kind, personally autographed, suitable for framing, 8×10 photo/ad of our blog host, created by moi’. It sits in a place of honor next to my Colt Brennan autographed football helmet.
See you at the Hawaii Bowl t-gate…

“I Koakane commit to playing for the University of Hawaii Warriors for the 2009 football season. I have met all of the academic requirements for acceptance into the University System.”
“I have already been accepted into the School of Education in their remedial teaching program. After teaching in the Department of Education for 30 years, it was discovered that a number of the teachers and administators were not as smart as the students. The State department of education has developed a program where the State will pay for these teachers and administators to go back and further their basic education so that they can at least keep one step ahead of their students. I will be enrolled in this program so will be able to free up a football scholarship for some other worthy student athlete who is not as good as me but indeed is a needy student.”

woohoo I’m oficially a TSAIKO AURITE.
Was the anonymous $100K donor someone other than JJ himself? If not, then that probably came from him personally huh?
Congratulations to Coach Mack and the coaches for securing the fax from Koakane and his commitment to play for the Warriors during the 2009 season. Perhaps he will stay awake during games, now that he will be seated on the bench, I mean playing on the field.
Ralph, thanks for the clarification, I was getting nervous over where I could find some Becks. I don’t think it’s on sale.
Jack Flash:
Not sure who the anonymous donor is.
But I think I need one of those.
ralph….come on now. i bought a front loader so i can wash a dozen or more pooped pants at the same time. just gotta wash em twice to rid the scents, especially on weeks where i’ve had a few buffets.
bstunna…..one more initiation right. see you at the tailgate on wednesday with your box of king crab legs. no worry, beef curry, i have the butter and bighilo is also bringing a box.
JJ’s settlement:
Why the extra $10?
Is it like going into a restaurant, get no service, and leave a penny inside an upside down glass filled with water? We did that once at the old College Inn at the corner of University Ave and Dole Street.
Does this mean that the “e-mails” really existed? OK, you contract law afficinados, when does one “overlook” the written contract and why?
Did UH accept the $200,010 to avoid going to trial? Were they afraid of losing?
On a happier note, WELCOME TO THE WARRIOR FAMILY all the JC recruits who have submitted their LOIs. You know, in the military, LOI means Letter of Instruction – ie, lesson plan for all you teachers out there!!
OK coaches, keep on trucking on all the other recruits so you reap the rewards on NLOI day?
BTW, why is Sark targeting UH commits? Does he have a bone to pick? Is there something he needs to scratch between his lower cheeks?
Was there an agreement with USC that he will NOT target their recruits? or any PAC 10 recruit? Get a life Sark, if you and/or USC did not recruit UH recruits, why chase them now? I believe all solid UH commits will stand by their word because it represent their character!
Good afternoon, Tsaiko-Nation and Tsai-Meister.
Great opening salvo of LOI signees, a hell of a start. Can’t wait to see when it’s finished. Keep the train rolling.
lost in the shuffle……..
congratulations to our new warriors. a life changing experience no doubt. learn the pidgin, eat the rice, enjoy the l & l plate lunches, lucky you live hawaii.
David “goliath” Hafoka
Rodney “forest (as in gump cuz he’ll be a running and keep on a running)” Bradley
Melvin “Tank” Hopkins
Brett “da brick” Leonard
Lametrius (why mess with such a pretty name) Davis
Chizzie “dizzie” Dimude
more to come…..
aaron “knock you down” brown
kevin “whizz” williams
zach “monsta” masch
I’m glad that JJ issue is resolved and we all can move on. He does love Hawaii and there’s no doubt in my mind about that. I’m sure he will retire there and keep all doors open. Good luck to him. I hope his team does better next year.
I don’t think JJ should have paid anything.
The contract was for five years. He coached five seasons.
It worked out fine. JJ got his money. UH got money. JD is the AD.
And I’ve got some extra hard copies of the bowl media guide I must find a way to distribute.
Tsai-Meister,
I would love to get one.
If only JJ had actually “coached” at the Sugar Bowl, I think people would have been more forgiving of the moolah. Just my opinion…
don’t forget about the possibility of Libre returning and Leon “the hype” Wright-Jackson as well.
Good Afternoon Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Whew, what a party last night. Thanks to (J)J, Mr. & Mrs. A-House, midori7, UHFan808, Addahknows, d1shimas and everyone else involved in the planning and coordination.
Tsaikos really know how to party right! It was a great night sharing with friends and seeing everyone before I leave.
Stretch – I got the email…thanks. I thought that you might forget, but when I opened it wasn’t as disgusting looking as the pig’s head. Please don’t start sending me daily pics of dead animals that people eat.
Koakane- Did you eat the Chex mix? I’m still not sure that you ate the cake! We are going to ask for photographic proof next time.
ST – Thanks for the Colt Brennan Heisman Brochure…I didn’t remember that it was autographed. Now I will have to frame and put next to my helmet. Please drag Wena to the next get together!
oh man, oh man, oh man….this is just waaaaay to easy…..way to easy.
ST,
How about a contest?
Like the first one from Las Vegas who begs and pleads gets a copy of the hard guide.
please, please, pretty please, please
Or the winner (actually the loser) of the Wafan look-a-like contest
Sorry Wafan.
I’d feel better if ST mentioned that the other JC guys not named Chizzy are also in the works, specifically Aaron Brown. Any status on him?
Re Tepa’s Yahoo write up:
I pulled this is from the other board. I normally wouldn’t quote this much, but ….
Chizzy “going make defenders dizzy” Dimude.
ST,
Didn’t the JJ Foundation *already* announce that it was going to be donating money to a scholarship fund in the name of Dr. Kanalu Young?
I agree with ST about JJ not paying. If JJ stuck around until the end of the contract– Mac might not be our coach, HF might still be around, JD might not be our AD, and the recruiting and training programs for UH (and SMU) would certainly be hurting.
It burns me up that we had to pay off HF and then ironically chase after JJ to pay for doing the right thing and leaving when he did (if he was going to leave).
just saying….
just saying that i am not a poor sport and i can handle some admiration by some person with much time on his/her hands.
i haven’t forgotten about lwj nor libre. but, just saying how excited i am about these two incoming running backs. based upon the vid clips we have procured a mean smash and dash duo here. yah, the dynamic duo if you will.
Are there now two donations from the JJ Foundation or is this money being credited to the settlement? This is from ST’s blog in October.
And we might not be looking at an almost completed Ching/Cooke Field.
dang, what is the weight limit on those chairs?
How about some linemen-friendly gifts!
So when are they planning to start on the rest of the Ching Complex?
Doesn’t that mean the Ching/Cooke field won’t be available again during construction?
wm….thanks for the good read. seems like we are always up against the oregons and uclas of the world. oh, and the udub’s. why don’t they just allow us into their conference so we can start beating up on them on a regular basis, then we’ll see about who keeps who on the recruiting trail.
Dragged this over from the previous blog entries
“December 19th, 2008 at 10:49 am
W-Doc
Should have asked you last night, but didn’t. Can you give us an update on moving Saturn’s house, or getting your backyard cut. If you’ve set dates and times, perhaps some extra hands can show up. Hmmm…how big did you say your backyard was…do you measure in square feet or acres?”
Article discusses how Miami might be moving Samson to guard. Miami’s head coach was the OL coach at Dallas when Johnson was at Dallas and they drafted him with a high draft pick (I think 2nd round)…that might indicate they want Johnson at C when he’s healthy and they’ll have Samson compete at RG.
Is there any surprise that Bess blocks better than Miami’s other starting WR? We saw Bess block extremely well during his 3 years at UH.
hah….just saying….i was just gonna say too, that those chairs look like they could only accomodate an MIT dance team member.
contest…..put all the linemen in a row and have them sit on those chairs winnah of the chicken dinnah first to break and last to break.
Pride. – Thanks for sharing the KK’s LOI. Da bugga one bowling ball!
(J)J – Just read that 5 guys were arrested in Chinatown. BTW, hope you are ok and got your purse back.
I’m guessing that Sarkisian isn’t trying to steal USC’s commits because U-Dub doesn’t have much to talk about compared with USC. However, Sarkisian is probably playing the Pac-10 vs. WAC card in trying to get UH commits.
Pac-10 won’t let us in because they won’t be able to use the Pac-10 name for recruiting over UH!
15 minutes ago I just completed the last bit of work I am supposed to finish this year! The rest of the year is filled with holidays and vacation…I’m going to work some of course, but my contracts won’t be paying any of the work because each day will officially be a holiday or a vacation day.
Homey,
(J)J got away, but broke a stiletto heel in the process
Garret, what dates are you going to be in Las Vegas?
Garret,
What dates are you going to be in LV?
Uh-oh, we’re on the same wave length las vegas!
Not sure if that’s scary for you or me!
bstunna2002 and WarriorMojo – Thanks for the info and quote. Just hope the Oregon schools and UCLA doesn’t impress him. He looks like he is still growing and will be a force on the Warrior d-line.
Mahalo to everyone who helped arrange last night’s party at Murphy’s. Nice putting faces to blog names as well as getting to know folks’ real names.
Just a quick reminder that if you missed it – or want to party some more this Sunday, December 21 – please join us for a hosted Football & Food Call this Sunday at Murphy’s to meet up with Kamali’o NYC, a long-time lurker who grew up in Hawai`i (McKinley class of 1968) and now lives in The Big Apple. Dawn will be bringing along her step-son and his wife – they’re both professional musicians.
We’ll start off by watching the Giants v. Panthers game – pre-game stuff begins at 3 pm – and then will head out to Aiea for Mexican food at El Mariachi – arriving there around 7 pm.
If you don’t want to come to Murphy’s for the game but want to join us at El Mariachi, please do so.
The restaurant is not easy to find so you’ll need to caravan out to Aiea from Murphy’s if you’re not already familiar with its location in a multi-level shopping center directly across from Aiea Medical Center and McDonald’s on Moanalua Road. There must be at least 20 retail and restaurants surrounding a parking about half the size of the playing field at Aloha Stadium but split in two sections.
Dawn really would love to meet up with as many Tsai-kos as possible but will be leaving for the Big Island on December 23 so she cannot make the T-Gate.
FYI: Coach Alan Inaba’s program at Dole Middle School has received over $250 from generous Tsai-kos – in addition to the football tickets donated by Kamali’o NYC. He’s also applying for a small grant from a local foundation for his program tp help buy shoes, uniforms, equipment, and registration fees for kids whose parents cannot afford to pay them.
Again a reminder – season ticketholders in any sport will get 50% off on up to eight men’s basektball tickets for Tuesday’s game with UC-Riverside. They did UH in last spring during the Bracketbuster’s game.
I understand that there’s a karaoke call afterwards, but don’t party too late because The Final T-Gate of the season starts around 9 or 10 am Wednesday morning.
**********
Finally, today is a sad day for DrDoc and me – Today at 5:30 pm we are taking Hercules, our 16-year-old beautiful black cat, to the veterinarian for our final aloha. In the past month, he’s lost his vision & his hearing and has to be fed by hand with a plastic squisher tube. The failing kidneys and the hyperthryoidism can no longer be controlled with medications. Even though he responds to our hugs and chin & ear scritches, we know it’s time to let him go.
Bad as this situation is, we’re still reeling from the news that Saturn The Dog has lymphoma and may live another six to eight months before it will be time to take him for his final visit as well. Saturn is five going on six years which is really young for a dog to be diagnosed with lymphome.
Not a happy holiday season for us humans, but we still have three healthy cats ages 3, 10 and 14 so they will help make things easier for us – plus the two parties on Sunday and Wednesday as well as the basketball and football games.
HEY!
WassupDoc,
I am really, really sorry to hear about Hercules. My condolences to you and Dr. Doc. Condolences also to you both about Saturn’s situatoin.
Rob25 and las vegas,
We will be in Vegas from 12/29 until 12/31.
WDoc,
Sorry for the upcoming losses.
All our pets are family to us too.
WarriorMojo,
Thank you very much for that article on Tepa. I’ve read some other stuff on him also in the LA/Long Beach papers and I guess we should call him a soft commit…UH has the lead but he’s really good so the Pac-10 schools will go after him hard.
I’d prefer that UH get the first visit or the last visit. It sounds like UH might get the first visit, which could be nice because they can try to convince him to cancel his other visits…
lv – no worries on the Stiletto’s for (J)J. He shares with many of his shim friends.
Is Feb. 4th the first day for NLI’s for all other football recruits? That’s a long time to wait and change decisions…
Homey…that wasn’t me in Chinatown…I think Jason was cruising hotel street last night…he didn’t want a ride from sj and myki and said he wanted to hang out downtown….hmmmmmm
Pride…Awesome LOI from KK….da guy get some stats….ROTFLMFAO
a good closer would prefer to be the last visit.
homey….i am certain that we have some others in our hip pocket just for that rainy day weather.
the recruit board suits that purpose. that is why, going after mid year transfers/jc recruits is so key for us. at least we have six guys already in the fold add to that stutz2 and sula coming in january as well gives us not only a chance to indoctrinate them into the program but also secures a third of our new people early.
Wow, Garret, that’s a quick trip!
Looks like we won’t be able to get together when you’re in town. I don’t come in until the 29th depending on road conditions. The A-Houses and midori come in late on the 30th and I will be taking the kids to see “Mystere” at TI.
I think Tepa is going to take all of his trips but in the end I see him and GDL in Warrior uniforms hopefully McKay and Richardson too.
homey – How come you couldn’t grace us with your presence last night? At least we got to see Penn State take Nebraska down in volleyball tourney!
Rob25 – huh? what happened last night other than (J)J getting hijacked?
not sure if we recruiting mckay and richardson.
do we see l. davis as a safety?
al – 8 is a good start but the Warriors still need to fill their cupboard. I’d like to really really see the how Paipai and Alema look come spring time.
I know we offered Mckay but hopefully we can trip those 4 together in January would be great if they could all see themselves going from Jackrabbits to becoming Warriors.
Just looked at those gift beach chairs and it looks like it can support up to 250#’s. not good…
I say if this recruting class pans out the way it seems like it will we could easily finish in the top 25 next season. Of course barring some of the thngs that happened this year with some of the conservative play calling and the time managment if we can get some recievers who can stretch the field defenses better watch out could be ’07 all over again.
According to Scout.com Hawaii is ranked #43 in football recruiting.
http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&view=2&yr=2009
we have definitely addressed some of our immediate needs that being speed, defense, oline, and more speed.
what we all have to realize is that the jc guys should provide instant results with 9 new ones and another 6 in the fold they should help create immediate impact.
for the most part though, the new hs recruits are typically the future. of those though, i could see sula, stutz2, contributing early if not next year already. sula appears to be physically mature and that position is not as difficult to learn. stutz2 has played in a similar system all his life and his been around the informal workouts for years. he needs at least 15 more pounds though.
reload baby!
all this talk about football…I have a craving for chinese roast pork (fong’s in Oahu market) and an ice cold beer.
homey….what is funny is that as soon as some “big” program starts recruiting the kids we have their star rating goes up. for example; all year iuta tepa’s rating was 2stars and just a day or two ago it jumps up to 3stars because the pac 10 has arrived.
and yet a one star at scout is a 3 star at rivals.com and vice versa. that tells you so much about these recruiting experts.
al – do you think we will see the emergence of Heun and the potential of LWJ becoming a reality?
al – let’s fax KK’s LOI to the BCS conferences and see how many stars he gets.
Does anyone think the Warriors will run more plays from under center next season? The obvious times they ran it this season was for qb sneaks and goal line or getting a first down from short yardage.
what’s up with Lingle and the State? Making plenty headlines recently.
Is this the quiet period of the blog?
Hellooooooo…
Esme? jojo? A-Sports?
I went to Ward Center this past weekend and it was kinda cloudy. A tourist happened to walk by me as I was exiting the car after I parked it. He was looking at the sky and asked me if that was the sun or the moon. I told him, I don’t know, I don’t live in this area.
▌ Homey…that wasn’t me in Chinatown…I think Jason was
▌ cruising hotel street last night…he didn’t want a ride from sj and
▌ myki and said he wanted to hang out downtown….hmmmmmm
Hey, I got home at 10:30, Ralph dropped me off. I didn’t want anything to do with your friends. 🙂
FYI, so far the SEC is #1 in recruiting…so what’s new.
jojo went to find some becks
heun’s issue is one of will his back heal? his back problems may require surgery. let’s pray that his career is not over before it even got started.
lwj’s concerns, to me, are confidence. just go out there and do it. it appears to me that his struggles are his trying too much or too hard and is not running instinctively. kind of reminds of mike bass who went through the same stuff i thought. you can see similar frustration on lwj’s face as you did with bass.
and yet he appears to remain a positive teammate.
1,800 is a lot of chairs the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl is going to distribute!!!
al – so were your answers about Heun and LWJ yes or no?
Mike Bass had the knack for finding every bump in the turf whenever he carried the ball.
JJ mentioned the first of two philanthropic initiatives, so ST, what is the second initiative? more money! and its not part of the settlement since it is resolved!
homey….only you, only you would go there. we can discuss this further over a peroni or a steiny pure on wednesday. i’ll bring the poke.
I could use one of those pleather jackets. Below freezing and snowing buckets in the northeast. People getting exercise on cross-country skies in the streets. Looking forward to getting a tan at the Hawaii bowl!
al – sadly, I will not be there on Wednesday…
homey, my ears were burning. Did you use my name in vain again? xD
Everyone else … good afternoon! Hi, ST!
Glad to hear a resolution to the JJ issue. That dragged on way too long.
Sounds like I missed a good one last night. I’m glad you guys had a good time, though!
OK, I’m doing a me, whooshing in and out. I’m sprinting … and running on three hours’ sleep for the third night in a row! Can’t decide yet if I despise or love the holidays these days… xD
Hope everyone is having a great day!
*tappity*
Hello, Esme.
I heard you’re getting a “bonus” ticket.
Esme must be delirious because her smilies are not all there. BTW, I would never use her name in vain because she is a potential ride home.
Esme – we really miss you in person… 🙁
Everyone have a nice last weekend of Christmas shopping! TGIF!
If I don’t see any of you the rest of the month, see you next year!
I’ll wash your car!
Aloha everyone. Sounds like the party was lots of fun. Sorry we missed it. We are excited about Jacob’s graduation!!!!!!!!!!!! He’s not sure what is next, but he has several options he will explore. Thanks for being such great UH fans. We will always remember the hours we spent on the internet reading the advertiser and blog and going to tailgates and games. May God bless each one of you. We will be leaving the island Tuesday evening. We were hoping that the bowl game was going to be on Sunday. Darn! We will miss that too. Thanks for your kindness. Merry Christmas to all.
Good luck to Jacob. Wish him and family the best.
Beowulf:
Thanks for sharing your wonderful son and family with us.
We are the lucky ones.
Have a great graduation and a safe trip home! Please keep us informed about Jacob’s future plans. We will proudly cheer him on in whatever capacity that may be.
WarriorMojo,
I couldn’t contain myself any longer. I bought a few “Shamwows”, but I haven’t even washed my own car in about two months!
I wouldn’t mind seeing one of those hard copies finding it’s way all the way to the hills?????
question
does or did billy ray stutzman have to sign his letter of intent now to play spring ball.
heard he graduated early.
Great news about the settlement of the contract dispute.
Busy day at work actually was a good thing because otherwise I woulda been draggin’…
Check back laters. Going try saw some logs so can make it to craft night…
As I remember past Warrior players, the one that stands out as the most happiest-go-luckiest person without a care in the world has to be Timmy Chang. There may be others, like the Dan Robinsons, Adam Leonards and the Jason Elams. And from the Wahine volley ball family definitely Heather Bowen. But for Timmy his personality reflects in his game. And so be it that he has the all time record for having the most thrown interceptions, it’s his zestiness that also made him the all time career passing leader, too. Never will you see another athlete, with such a boyish aura, mostly smiling all the time, endure the ups and downs as he has with the boos and whispers of fans looking at him as a goat one minute and the prodigal son the next absorbing the pressures yet continuing to prevail. For Timmy he just keeps lining up under center, taking the snap and firing away. Hit or miss, there was always a smile. And under the watchful eyes of fans he wanted to succeed more so to fuel this happiness within himself for others to see. And he did. And that’s how I perceive him as being the most nonchalant, nondescript and happiest football I’ve seen at UH. From his St.Louis H.S days, where he was the most prolific passer in Hawaii HS football to his career at UH and later on in the Canadian Football League the impression one gets from watching Timmy growing up is he has a passion for the game. And a zest for life. For all the ones that craved status, Timmy didn’t. He just wanted to play the game.
It was back in 2004 that I attended a UH practice. Omitting any homerisms, the impression I got seeing Timmy at practice was that he as soon as be an entry level person than a leader. Or the big star of the football team and all the notoriety and newspaper clippings he would rather just concede to others just to go out and play the game for the fun of it. At first impression he didn’t look like the manliest type of football player your coaches covet. More jovial than a bruiser, more timidly, almost shy like that it was an enigma and amazing that he aspired to the heights he did in football. And complementary in his will and resolve to succeed that he did. And this is why I like him. And why fans like him.
Continuing, as I watched that first practice the script would be seem like I’m embellishing. But truer to form none other than Timmy show up to practice about 2 minutes late. And Timmy returned Coach Jones staredown with smile. And then he received a tongue lashing, for I’m guessing that Timmy brushed it off, like I’m guessing, to hurriedly get in another snap under center and play the game he loved, like a little kid in a candy store so to speak with obviation of any unhappiness. Or surely any coaches tongue lashing.
Watching him in the passing drills, as I did, even swearfully as I write, I asked another by stander if the quarterback drills. And particularly Timmy passing designed to intentionally throwing the passes not in the receivers breadbasket but, really, almost over their heads or even low to the ground maybe making the receivers have a harder time catching the ball purposefully. Maybe it was this practice I watched. But I wasn’t impressed.Twenty yard passes, no pass rush or linemen to throw over and his passes were terrible. And like this practice he probably shrugs it off. And furthermore all the critiquing by the fans he probably shrugs off. All the NFL gurus saying he wouldn’t be drafted he probably shrugged it off too. For in the end what matters he lives another day to take a snap of the football. And he has up to this year in the Canadian Football League. Thirty years from now, jokingly and maybe not, when he’s older and graying he probably be leading some pickup game somewhere… leading the charges once again…seeing him playing with the youngsters on the sandy beaches fronting Waikiki is something I expect.
It was later on the a sidewalks in the University area on two different occasions that my perception of Timmy was further enhanced. Twice, and this may seem to be made up. But who comes barrelling on their bicycle nearly running the pedestrians over and myself none other than Timmy. Yet once again, by now, the infectious smile and grin I remember seeing as he sped by no doubt his knowing the pedestrians know who he is…but true to form not with a care in the world he sped by.
With his career probably winding down in the CFL, I pay tribute to Timmy Chang for going over there and giving it a try. Some I see, more talented, just wither away and regret later in life that they didn’t give football a full shot. For Timmy there has to be a lot of contention in his heart that he absorbed the full extent of football, which in a way sates his thirst for life. And gives him happiness. Best wishes and thank you, Timmy Chang for epitomizing the greatness of not only the greatness of UH Warrior but that of a person.
roysan16,
Wow, that’s a Hall of Fame speach, but the best description of Timmy Chang I’ve read. You’ve captured his essence very nicely.
That St. Louis field looks pretty chewed up.
d1shima,
Just got your pictures from the party, thank you. A lot of fun seems be had by all.
to be honest. the boos really, really hurt timmy chang. the boos really, really hurt his mother and sister, the boos really, really, really hurt his father. to their credit they never publicly put down the local people who were booing.
Al,
The boo-birds were a fairly small minority. They’re the same idiots still doing it today.
Listening to L&L on the way to work this morning, I started to wonder if the “big name” college hoops schools ever lose scholarships with so many players consistently leaving school after their freshman or sophmore year.
For example, how many players left school after their freshman or sophmore year in the past 5 years?
Do these players ever go back to school and get their degree in 3 or 4 years? With all the commitments, wonder how they finish the necessary credits, as a part-tme student, to graduate within the magic “5 -year” rule established by the NCAA? How does the NCAA “track” these players to determine if they graduated?
I know that UH was duct scholarship(s) the past year or two because players did not complete school in 5 years.
sup everyone,
I had a good time at the party last night and it was nice meeting everyone. Thanks to everyone who was involved with the party.
Howzit murf!
It was a pleasure meeting you as well.
Now you can sign Mrs. A-house’s book! 🙂
Good evening ALL
To the Beowulf Ohana….do keep us aprised of Jacob’s plans. He is a son of rare quality, and we’d love to keep tabs on him. From all of the Tsaiko’s… ((((HUGS))))
Yahoo!!! The Warriors will play Wazzu in Seattle next year. Could that be the Wa-Wa game? HA!
Right now r/t air from SEA/LAS is running just over $300. Waiting a bit more to see if the price will come down. Hope if does no go the other way.
roysan16
Wow! Thanks for the time you took to do your post. TC was certainly a major cog in the resurrection of the UH football program. I’ll always be grateful to him for staying and playing for the home team.
Hi BG!
Did you ever get that envelope from UHfan808? I sent it via Stretch who gave it to UHfan808 to give to you.

Beowulf213,
Congratulations to Jacob and your entire family for his graduation! You must be so proud and happy for him…wish I could be there to cheer for him at graduation.
We all wish Jacob the best and know that his dedication and character will ensure that he will be a success at whatever he decides to do.
wafan – I hope that BG got the envelope via whoever because right now I can’t remember the details. Sorry
The Angels get to keep their name…the lawyers were the big winners in this case.
roysan16,
I was a big fan of Timmy Chang and never even thought about booing him. Thank you for the insight into him and the tribute to him.
However, I should point out that being late to practice and not focusing in drills would show a lack of focus in trying to reach his potential…maybe Timmy would have had more success if he took practice more seriously?
wafan…Aloha bruddah! Just got off the phone with Kekoa. We were talking about airfares to Vegas, getting into the 2009 Blog Party, and a Tsaiko cheering section in Aloha Stadium for the 2009 football season. You know…just shootin’ the breeze 😀 Hope you’re enjoying your time off. Hey…what’s a little snow and ice?!!
Anyways, I owe you an email soon…chiao

homey! Awww, you like me! You really like me!
OK, I’m done. Back to working and lurking. 😆
Someone on this blog mentioned that Isi Sofele was on a recruiting visit to UH a couple of weekends ago (Cinci game weekend probably). JJ paid a home visit to Isi and JJ said very nice things about JJ and how the home visit went.
Unfortunately for both UH and SMU, Cal offered Isi a scholarship shortly after JJ’s home visit and he’s apparently going to go there.
Rob25,
Too bad that the timing doesn’t look like it will work for Vegas…I guess if my trip is too short to work with everyone else’s schedule, you folks will get to meet up without me. Too bad for me.
The reason why my trip is so short is because we’re basically getting paid to go to Vegas for those days. That is why we can afford to go on the trip…
Al,
I agree that a closer would want to have the last visit…if everything was equal. In certain cases, I’d like for UH to be first and most cases last would be best. For situations where a recruit has been committed for a long time and could be convinced to skip his other visits if UH can close the commitment in a visit, going first might be best. The recruit won’t need to see the superior facilities at the Pac-10 schools and hear all the negative recruiting that they will say about the WAC and UH.
Tony Tuioti noted that you can tell your position in the recruit’s pecking order by whether or not you get the weekend you want for a visit. If UH can’t have the last visit, I’d want them to get the first…often times the first visit makes a big impression on a recruit. Going 2nd, 3rd, or 4th just isn’t as good as being 1st or last.
In recruiting, it’s the Mom.
You gotta “get” the Mom….
Getting ready for bed, just catching up.
roysan: I am a big fan of Timmy Chang. I felt so bad for him when the boos would come out…just like I do for all of the players. It was so nice to see him stay home and play. Thank you for reminding us what a pleasant person he is.
Garret: We will meet some day soon I hope. Maybe we can get together when I leave Vegas for LA area. I will be getting together with Ronnie and she may want to set up some kind of CC.
murf: It’s nice to see you posting. I am so glad that you came to the party. It takes some courage to show up and not know anyone. I don’t know that I would have done that originally, but now we are like one big happy family. Bring some friends next time! High five to you!!
Esme: Nice to see you on..for the short time that you are. I’m a mom, totally understand.
Good night everyone! Gotta get up for a soccer game at Kalani!
Slow day on the blog. Earlier this week I was worried when I could not get into and link to one of the old HA blog archives. Testing tonight, I was glad when the link to Cat’s coverage of the first blog party (just 2 years ago on December 28) worked. It was also at Murphy’s Bar Grill. I enjoyed reading the 43 comments posted…and seeing who posted 🙂

A-House re #165
Last year, the NCAA rules commitee changed the regulation for early entrance
into the draft. I can’t remember the exact quote but the general interpretation of
this new regulation states: A student athlete apply for the draft early. the
applicant must notify some organizations. I think the draft commitee and NCAA.
He/she must fulfill compliances set forth by the NCAA. When all requirements
are met the institution would not be penalized.
A few years ago, I also wondered about this. Especially in men’s BB, most of
the great players were leaving after their first or second year. Schools such
as UCLA, Texas, Kansas and other top schools sometimes have 2 or 3
players applying early for the draft. If the original rules were not altered, these
institutions eventually could not implement a team. All their scholarship would
be utilized for penalties.
I think next year we will have a faster team
Hiya!
Phew, what a day!
Tomorrow is another one!
Beowulf213- nice to see you again! All the best to Jacob. It was great seeing him on the sidelines during homecoming (Kekoa and I won sideline passes) – always encouraging, keeping the guys in the game…!
OK time to nigh nigh.
Hey- anyone interested in going to the ProBowl???
Sweet Warrior Dreams!
murf what happened to your other half murphy
Howzit Tsaikos everywhere.
ho boy, JJ settlement. Good deal for everybody involved. I agree wit SteveM, da guy neva need pay. I only habut wit him cuz his appearance on da sidelines on da national stage. In hindsight, we all now know he was already in da digging out mode.
But if he neva leave den, this past season would have been a total disaster, so I thank him for leaving earlier than later.
roysan16
great post on Timmy Chang. you are soooo right. he contributed greatly to UH. without question.
just gettin Stutz2 in practice and early rotation, with Stutz1 input, will improve the whole team calibre.
the youth is going to drive our team forward.
Go Warriors!!!!
the Hawaii Bowl this week will be a great visual for the UH recruits. think about this. except for USC, what PAC10 team player can say they are playing in a bowl game that is a life long dream. Even at 7-6, Hawaii is playing Notre Dame in front of a national crowd and rabid home town fans with chance to claim some major Irish karma as its own. It don’t get better than this for a set of new coaches.
Go Warriors!!!
Monday nite luau Queen’s Beach. 😀
I wish the Irish a great day at Waikiki beach on Monday. All day.
sunbathing. 😀 walking the beach, looking at the pretty girls. all day.

I AM SOOOO PROUD OF OUR WARRIORS.
GREAT TEAM. GREAT PLAYERS. GREAT PEOPLE!
SOMETIMES WE OVERLOOK THE EXTREME SACRIFICES
THEY AND THEIR FAMILIES PUT ON THE LINE EVERYDAY
TO PLAY FOR US. TO STAY IN SCHOOL. TO SACRIFICE FOR EACH OTHER. FOR US. FOR HAWAII.
THANK YOU WARRIORS!
now go out there and knock some little green guyz around! 😀

Howzit. What you think, more easy for acclimate from the cold weather area to warm or from the warm weather area to the cold in less than a week?
ST
great article
hiya Flyer. 😀
no question cold to warm way mo easier. especially if you stay in da shade.
but da hardest part is putting your guard down against da sun. 😀
nuttin like one pa pa’a walking down Waikiki. yu see dem on da sidewalk at da light. yu lookin at dem in dare bayfeen suit and yu seein da redlines from da day bee4 and yu sayin to yurself, “omygod. 😀
Coach is right. da bruddaz gotta behave. we on national watch right now. i been on my best behavior all week. 😀 ahem 😀
when you on da national stage and you wanna be big time, you gotta step up to da challenge. no ifs ans or butts. 😀 fame don’t come easy, and it don’t come cheap! Good takes hard work. Great takes more hard work. Super … well… you get the idea!
i sure hope Jimmy D is fillin up our future schedules with quality opponents.
HiFlyer,
see ya at da TGate
zzzzzzzz
good morning wafan….dmitcho you seem to get up later that wafan in the pnw
So, according to the Advertiser, the contract dispute between JJ and UH was settled on *November 20*, but they just didn’t have time to announce it until now! That press release sure took a long time to put together…
It would seem from the timing of everything that the donation settlement counted the JJ Foundation donation in honor of Dr. Young that was announced by ST in October.
I really think that the JJ Foundation would have donated that money to honor Dr. Young anyway…and when JJ left he said that the JJ Foundation would continue to support causes in Hawaii.
A frosty morning to everyone!!!
Great Morning All!
Howzit wafan! #2 son is “sweating it out” in PDX that his flight can make it out tomorrow so he can have a Mele Kalikimaka.
d1 . . .
Blizzard-like conditions forecast for some areas of western OR and WA. I hope your boy is set for an early bus ride from McM to PDX.
Weather is supposed to hit later today and run through tomorrow morning — coming up from the south. My best guess is the snow and ice storm will be just about finished by mid-morning except for the resultant layer of snow and ice.
We are expecting up to 1′ of snow where I am — South Puget Sound. But, that is not as bad as the projected 2′ on the eastern side of the Olympics and Cascades.
Expect delays!
Good morning Tsaikos. Looks like going to be a good day on Maui.
The JC recruiting looks very good and the coaches did a good job.
The Hawaii Bowl will definitely be one of the better bowls this year, but will actually help the tourist industry with new reservations. Now, if the airlines are honest, they would drop their baggage charges because fuel prices have gone down.
GO WARRIORS!!!!!!
Ho- d1, hope he can get out of PDX. I just posted snow pix from my daughter’s house. They got a foot of white stuff.
OK. time to get rolling into Rotary Saturday and night!
HiHo!
Snow already falling in Portland.
It is 8-degrees outside. That is correct — a single digit.
Foolish. News is showing a woman in a short skirt with high heels walking on the icy sidewalk. Fashion before comfort and safety, I guess. Have to get an ice-pick to go shi-shi.
~~•~~~~•~Good..Morning..Tsaikos..and..Warrior..Nation!!!~•~~~~•~~
wafan – Keep your darn cold weather up there in Wash! 😈 😯 😀
Just a few more days until the Irish get to experience a sneak attack in December.
Is the forecast for bright and sunny skies?
Brew . . .
I am blaming Plate Techtonics.
You guys fell off the continent and have now slid upward to where we used to be. As a result, we are now up where Alaska was.
Darn Juan de Fuca Fault Line.
ok, now that d1 #2 son, lizk’s daughter, (and hopefully not brew808) are freezing their buns, got to look on the “bright side”. Now the fat man and his “reinbeers” have a place to land their sleigh come Wed night.
Got to go, get game this morning. Have a great day.

there is definitely a difference between big and fast, and big an fast.
but it all comes down to heart for 4 quarters. like dat kid frum Kahuku at Ore. St., said he wasn’t coming home if day wen luze. he wen play wit one attitude. i’d sure like us to play his team again. i like see him try catch Chizzy, Aaron, Daniel, Steele or Inoke wen Brett and da french guy stay at OT. 😀
I sure hope KIA and Steinhoff readin dis. 😀 motivation!
Honestly, though.
What happened to global warming? Or is this just a blip in global warming?
Have they gone over the 40,000 tickets sold mark?
A full stadium rocking and rolling for the Warriors and Irish would be awesome to see on TV! That would surely help sway some of the fence-sitters.
Just hoping it is not a picket fence.
wafan,
couple days ago wuz over 38K. they get big doings this weekend and early next week. the Irish and Warriors in Waikiki, luau Monday nite Waikiki Queen’s Beach, the place going be buzzing. tix sales goin up Mon and Tues fo shuah!
Seattle is sweating it out at 15. We have gone up a whole degree!!! All the way up to 9!!! Whoo-hoo!!!
da fence sitters, no mo. just gotta wait to feb loi day.
you know, get plenny mainland peeps right about now lookin at da weather, looking at our schedule for the coming years, they know UH going be competitive and the coaches we get is the coaches we going keep for da next 2 years unless Coach Mack make changes. Dat man get class, his timing so far is EXCELLENT in everything else except the 4th quarter, and I got a good feelin dat is gonna change too.
comes with maturity and a great character. 😀 like AJoe. 😀
maturatee an great charactah….
LIzK,
where are you! 😀
fas fingahz too.
d1 . . .
#2 is at PDX already? New forecast is for ice-storms tomorrow after the snow tonight. If that is the case, he might want to seriously getting a hotel room today before the rooms fill up later today as people realize what is going on.
bhf2 . . .
Awesome! Our guys can handle the food and activities — used to them already. The Irish on the other hand, might have an interesting time. Maybe their stomachs and minds might be a bit twisted and annoyed with the delicacies. Yum!
I like your idea of the sun and fun for them.
an yu wonderin wen da bugga goin cross da line.
not in your lifetime sweetie.
but yu neva know. 😆 you just neva know. 😛
PDX seemed like a nice airport…. for a short layover! 😀 😯 😆

I’m a bit surprised that the SLS supporters haven’t been able to upgrade their field. I don’t think it would be a problem at the other “big time” ILH schools (no, I’m not including the one in lower Kalihi w/ the purple bus parked in front….) 😀 😯 😆
Brew . . .
Yeah. We are the pimple on the big time butt of the ILH super powers.
Our tantrum forced everyone to re-evaluate how the super powers squeezed the pimples.
Haha! When I look at the story about the Hawaii Bowl Pep Rally at Sunset, there’s an Ad on the same page for the tomorrow night’s movie, “Kung Fu Panda”. I don’t know why, but it looks like leadfoot kicking AddahknowJoe in the ‘okole! 😆 😯 😆

Okay, I’ll admit it… I’m looking forward to today’s NCAA V-ball finals between Penn State and Stanford. These are the two best teams out there and could easily be the foundation of future National Teams.
Everyone have a great day – whether you’re doing your last minute shopping, or errands, or relaxing. One last thing – Congratulations to all the graduating students at UH, and of course, to our graduating Warriors! 😀 😯 😆

Agree. AND, watching the semi finals, with no disrespect to the Wahine V-ball team, I do not believe we could have beaten either of the final four teams. Talent has something to do with it, along with height, but it’s the mental part of the game that has been lacking from the Wahine teams of late. They just cannot seem to “will” themselves to get beyond being just good. That game between Penn State and Nebraska was just unbelieveable. Both teams were just so mentally tough. They were that much better than our girls, sorry, but it just shows. The way we lost to Stanford was simply telling in regard to mental toughness. We simply have to get back to how we operated just about a decade or so ago.
wafan,
Finally seeing the sun here, but it’s a balmy 1 degree outside.
In all my time here, I’ve seen more than 2 feet of snow on the ground, but not all in a 36 hour period. We’re supposed to get another 4 inches or so tomorrow though.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
bhf2 . . .
Nah. I wen lern fonix in cat lik skool. I neva no wuz so hard fo tranzlait. Shesh, dis stai planny werk!
dj . . .
Keep warm!
This is the most accumulated snow since I have been here. The worst part is it just does not go away — just keeps on piling up.
When do you leave for home?
wafan – Not you too! 😈
We should put BHF2, 1surfaoutawater(sp?), you and Kekoa together in a small room – Only pidgin allowed! Let’s see who is the first to leave…. 😯 😆 😯
don’t count on me leavin any ruum if get fuud.
every game, every sport, every job, the mental part is what its all about.
wuz watching the buddhist shaolin guyz, the megastars are separated by their mind. just like football oline guyz, the punch technique and the super punch technique, the balance, the force.
the Leez supposed to know dis. its in dare blood. 😀
B-man – We agree! I love Wahine V-ball,… but I’m a big fan of championship level competition, especially v-ball. 😀
And there is NO WAY that the NCAA should allow Omaha to be the “home” for Women’s V-ball Championship. That is too great a home advantage for Neb. Unfair! Oh- wait a minute… it is the strikeNCAA! 😈 😯 🙄
Oops – suppose to be
NCAA! 😳 😈BHF2 – Yeah, I don’t know about the 1surfa guy, but you’d be one of the last…. unless they cause some disturbance (ambulances?) outside! 😆 Besides, aren’t you some record holder for the most consecutive posts or something? 😀 😯 😆
okay,
have a great day everyone. hilo rain makes da beach not a pain.
laters.
wafan,

Good Morning Tsaikos!!
Congratulations to ALL the students who are graduating today, including the football players!!
Congratulations graduates!
*Thanks for reminding me Stretch*
wafan: It is just too cold in your area…makes me want to eat some tripe stew…NOT! Stay warm.
WD: Sorry to hear about your kitty!
bhf2: I know that you are going to cheer loud enough for me! Can you jump up and down with the band too?
Rob25 . . .
It is very pleasant compared to dj’s side of the hill!
Aloha Kakahiaka Tsaiko Ohana!
I was about to have a Paniolo breakfast when all of a sudden I wen go read da blog…BIG mistake.
Ho boi!…get cheekin fricken skin reedin’ ’bout cat lick school back in da daze. My time at St Tereesa’s on School st. was scary! I tot I was doomed to die inside dat school and nobody would evah fine out who I wuz! One day I wen make da big xcape, got lost, end up at A’ala Pahk, out of transfer tickets for da HRT. Dat day ended in tragedy…Pops was not the kindly old gentleman you see today!
He was a fan of boxing great Bobo Olsen, back den and I got to feel how much of a fan he was! (A left to the body, a right to the jaw, Kekoa is staggering…another left and a crushing blow to his face he is down for the count!).
Cat Lick school…I still shudder at the thought….
ST & Tsaiko Blog Dogs,
Jes a shout out to the A-House gang and James for the set up of the Tsaiko Xmas Party. Had a good time.
Sorry to Koakane….did not make it to the after party affair. Got side tracked to another venue, similar and probably more expensive! I will call you about the tickets so we can make the hand off.
Hearty congratulations to each of the graduands!
Enjoy your day and the honors that accompany your accomplishment.
Good morning Tsai-kos!!
Congrats to all who are graduating this month, be it UH, some other college or high school!
Welcome to the Warrior ohana to the JC players who signed yesterday! It’s official!!!!!
WDoc – condolences on the passing of your cat and illness of your dog.
So, didja guys miss me? 🙄 Had dinner last night at Mediterraneo with da family. Place was SRO, never seen the place like dat. Glass of wine did me in. Came home and slept 2 hours on da couch and then went nene. 😀
jm2375 = cheap date!!
d1 – hope your son gets home on schedule. The first time home is always the best, cuz you’re usually the most homesick.
To wafan and dj – stay warm.
To brew – go stand outside in your shorts and slippahs! 🙂
Brew-
(#239) You calling us out?!?!
Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Want to thank all of our wonderful Tsaiko Planners for a fun, festive Christmas party. We had a blast and are still talking about the games and antics, prizes and goodies.
Congratulations to the graduates!
I am watching the Fresno St bowl game against Colorado St. Fresno is playing power ball and running almost every play. They had 2 straight drives ending in touchdowns. I hope that Pat Hill does NOT change to the passing game like he did against Hawaii. If they continued the smash ball against UH, I don’t think we win that game.
I think the settlement worked out well for UH. It became clear once JJ had proof that the Athletic Director had waived the fee in exchange for JJ not leaving at the time, the UH’s case was a loser because a court would not enforce a fee like that after the waiver was used to entice him to stay. JJ should get credit for the donations he has made to UH through his foundation and directly– he has also helped by rounding up others to give, and he has told a lot of people he will keep giving. At the football level, his foundation paid for Mack and two coaches to go to Samoa (also paid for a player’s clinic and medical supplies for hospitals there). He has told several people he will give to Hawaii for the rest of his life.
jm2375 ~ Funny you should mention wine. I just stocked up on some of my favorite German wines yesterday. I’ll bring some to the T-gate for you to sample…couch is not an option.
Stretch ~ Enjoyed a few bottles of wine last night with my neighbors. They commented about the infamous “Tsaiko” wine glasses. It was hard to be humble. So I got drunk instead.
Mahalo for the glasses!
Should I call Pat Hill and ask him why he is trying to pass the ball?? They already showed they can run through these guys.
Kekoa – Glad that it is being enjoyed. I hope to make more tsaikoware pretty soon
Kekoa – sorry, staying home and cooking, not going game. Eat and drink my share. Oh wait, don’t you already do that? mwahahahahaha. 😆
Stretch – the liquor may be cheap but the food will always be expensive.
To all our graduates-
It may not mean that much to you right now. Frankly it shouldn’t. You’re probably thinking, Gawd! It’s finally OVER!! Up to this moment all you’ve ever known has been school, school, school,… Having your nose so close to the grinder all these years, it shouldn’t dawn on you how significant this piece of paper you receive today will be.
But, it will.
Someday…
As your journey begins you’ll find life will always remind you to return to this day to thank yourself for going through all the challenges of attaining this simple piece of paper. For every door this simple paper opens. For every opportunity, however grand or insignificant, life will remind you to return to this day to give thanks. Only then will you realize how important, how monumental the accomplishment you’ve attained today will be.
Now, at each moment life serves you this reminder, I humbly ask that you generously give back to our beloved university so that others after you can share in the same privilege.
You will forever be a graduate of the university of Hawai’i. Nothing can ever take that away from you.
Awesome.
Congratulations!
Good morning-ish everyone!

You are 100% correct. The 4 teams get their pick of the litter (TOP 25)
and the rest of the schools get their crumbs. By no means, the
wahines we get are bad but work in progress. Many years UH doesn’t
qualify for a TOP 20 recruiting class, but Coach Shoji has been able to
put out a quality product year after year. Been watching wahine V-ball
when I returned to the islands in 84 and been a booster club member.
The Stanford coach(Dunning) is a great recruiter but not a great
teacher.That’s another story.
Eeeeeesssssssmmmmmeeeeeeee out!
jm2375 ~ I was counting on you coming down to help us consume all this great fuud…but we can alter dat plan and meet at your place! or…
As soon as we pau geeving the Green midgets a few head slaps, and kick their okole back to the airport, can I stop ovah your place for some Triple Choco Cake!
Come on Fresno! Hang on! Beat CSU!
YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Whats Up My name is and Admin I hope this is posted int he right section. I felt this was the best place to ask about this , if not please feel free to move it where it belongs, I really like this place and will be an advid poster here. Bob
I have been into internet marketing lately and would like to know if you know anything about blackhat marketing techniques? The reason I ask is because I found a couple places where people have proof of making over $900 a day from some these Black hat methods. Im just curious if anyone here is making money online through Blackseo or any types of whitehat techniques like these sites are about.
These sites have many different money making free scripts and types of ways to make money online. Alot of it has to do with CPA and affiliate programs. Hopefully you guys could help me understand some of these methods or just PM me and I can show the methods I am struggling with and I would be willing to give the scripts I bought for free, if you can help me figure them out. I just want to make money online since the economy is so bad now.

As you can see up above Club Penguin is no longer# 1 in the top ten list. Instead it is# 2 replaced by Commando 2. I think they either did this because not many people go on Miniclip and play it a lot or because they were up there to long. You decide! …
