This is a really cool idea, I wish I was in Hawai’i to take advantage of this!

The connection between players and fans is so crucial for a loyal fan-base. Obviously the NCAA looks down on these kinds of things, tampering and such. Regardless, it’s a great chance to show the players that the fans care about them and are excited to meet them, as well as providing a very cool experience for some fans.

Glad I stopped by today, thanks Stephen!

Also, if this turns out to be a really popular thing…..maybe some airlines will give UH a small discount for pretty much selling out a west coat flight?

    Hiya whitey and Duffer!

A-House — from yesterday’s blog– are you going to both the Australia and Michigan games? Wow, hope you get plenty frequent flyer miles. The one week apart factor ranks up there with the travels of Committed Road Warrior (our man in D.C.).

Anyone else going to UH away games? Post here or email me for inclusion on the Tsai-ko road pah-tay planner: http://stevem.altervista.org/away16.html

This is a fantastic marketing idea. I wonder if it would make financial sense to make this a permanent plan?

  12. A-House May 28, 2016 3:03 pm

kinda last minute, but good way to meet/greet the coaches and players

great, but must make own hotel reservations? ad does not say stay at same hotel with the team.

a reverse of this is a Boyd Gaming invite – 5 days and 4 nights for $140 – air reservations not included!!!

So. I went to a service yesterday for my 102 year old cousin. Lo and behold an esteemed Tsaiko is sitting in the pew in front of me with his lovely wife.

My cousin is the Aunty of his wife. Am I their uncle now?

I know somewhere there is a listing of the recruits that have been offered a scholarship — probably under UH sports, but I too lazy to go searching on the computer

to keep up the interest in football during this “dead period” would it be prudent to have a weekly posting in the Star Advertiser for all to see?

  15. A-House May 28, 2016 6:08 pm

we went with the UH band on their charted flight to the Sugar Bowl and it was great

straight to the airport after the game so we did not stay/participate in singing of Hawaii Pono’i – people say it was a “chicken skin” moment to remember – anyone know who started the singing?

speaking of the Sugar Bowl – what was the name of the Georgian who was an Tsaiko honoree?

  16. SteveM May 28, 2016 6:24 pm

    RE: #15
A-House — I think the gracious Georgia fan was Merv from Waynesboro. There were many photos of him in the Tsai-ko photo album of the Sugar Bowl tailgates. Unfortunately that album did not transition to the current archives.

    Al — that makes you a cousin much-removed. 🙂
    Small world.

Great charter deal to Michigan. Wish I could go.

  19. H-Man May 29, 2016 6:50 am

I have been trying to track UH football recruiting and found two lists – scout.com and yahoo. Scout currently lists 125 prospects and Yahoo 109. In comparing the two lists I’ve found to my surprise, they were quite dissimilar.

  20. Boya_jr May 29, 2016 7:18 am

I really like this idea, especially given our unique travel situation. Hope this expands. Prices are reasonable.

  21. A-House May 29, 2016 9:04 am

    H-Man:

interesting that those 2 have different name as “prospects”

now, of those on either list, how many have actually received an offer from UH?

IIRC, only a handful, maybe 7, have been offered, but no commitments to date — this, of course, does not include any “local” or mainland player who has stated his willingness to “walk-on”

certainly, there is a way to retain the interest in Warrior football during this “dead period” – media, tv or SA, to remind Hawaii of the progress made by Coach Rolo, his position coaches, and players to the 2016 season

I suppose offering a scholarship to 8th graders or HS freshman should count, but their “time in the sun” is a long ways off and many things can change over the next 4-5 years before NLI day.

any sightings of 2 or more interior DL for 2016?

  22. A-House May 29, 2016 9:07 am

Hawaii Warrior World, sub caption football, goes up to the 2015 player list.

who is responsible for updating information?
