Warriors looking for gamers

Leave it to Nick Rolovich to get creative when it comes to exit interviews with the 2017 returning players.

Rolovich and his staff created profile sheets based on the player profiles found in the Madden video game.
mad1
But instead of categories such as power moves and acceleration, the UH profiles give ratings for academics, discipline, awareness, strength, speed, quickness/agility, toughness, consistency, coachability, leadership and nastiness. Each profile includes a player’s picture and vitals.

It is a unique way to connect with today’s players, and give them creative critiques in a way that Generation Xbox relates.

Rolovich met with the players the past week. The position coaches will meet with their players this coming week.

We’re working our side gig with Casinos in Paradise (808-623-7546) for an event at Saint Louis School’s Clarence T.C. Ching Center when in walks in the Crusaders’ new head of athletics … June Jones. And the crowd went wild.

June Jones and Mike Hogan (a financial genius and my former softball teammate. Kruisers 4 eva. But I digress.)

And the winner of the T-shirt is … Showmantoo

I hope the winner is sNowmantoo (not showmantoo) because that’s me! I’m old school and don’t text so please give me a number to call if indeed I did win. I live on the Big Island so hope that’s not a problem. Mahalo, first thing I’ve won since…… I don’t know when!

    Congratulations, Snowmantoo.
I once won long ago, too, but did not
know it as I had to suddenly go to the
    mainland for my Mother’s funeral.
    Treasure it. 🙂

Rolo is truly a coach for the modern era. Love the way he connects with players and peeps. That evaluation is good idea. Same measurables for each Warrior – nice!

Watching the Pac-12 Championship game and although UW ran away in the second half, I had to shake my head when recalling that this same Colorado team was beaten by UH last season. Mike MacIntyer repeated the same slowly, but surely improvement, going from doormat to division champ at CU, like he did at SJSU.

Creativity is a good thing. That’s something that was missing with the previous HC. The Rolo era is just starting. The best is yet to come. Go Warriors!

Since the VB blog is down, pardon me for using this forum, but Nikki Taylor ended her career on crutches after only three points into the first set. It was not the ending anyone anticipated, but it was a great career. Thanks to Nikki and the seniors. Aloha Oe.

  14. snowmantoo December 3, 2016 4:29 pm

Thank you, A.O., I.M. and DPK. Will wear it with pride!

    Is Minnesota the new BYU?

I want our teams to beat this school in every sport.

I have seen “The Karate Kid” way too many times.

I truly hope it was an accident.

    Hey Stephen,
I still need to get my summer prize baseball card from you too.

While here goes again! They’re playing video games with players that will or let go!. Come on be really serious!. About next year already! Because the way the University of Hawaii football program going!. The school will never go to a high ranking bowl game ever!. If they go to one? If so only the Hawaii Bowl! Because it’s home field. They will go to any other bowl sites!

  18. slenzi December 4, 2016 8:04 am

Does anyone know when the official Hawaii Bowl invitations come out?

  19. oldtimer808 December 4, 2016 8:28 am

Ohana will you quit with your incoherent blogging. Where did you go to school that produced such bad grammar? And to Jr your grammar is not that great either. What the heck were you blogging about?

  20. mileHIwarrior December 4, 2016 8:58 am

I like waking up to this after a tough one last night with our Wahine.

Any thoughts on who this may be from Coach Rolo’s tweet?

North shore waves were up all weekend, still managed to get a good line in the water. #SunriseHanaPa’a

  21. cappie the dog December 4, 2016 9:06 am

Coach Shoji, you can’t go out like this.

You have nothing to prove, but you can’t let the NCAA Volleyball Committee bully the program around like this.

    Please don’t retire.

    Penn State isn’t in.

I don’t have to jump off Tantalus.

I have a blue state to root for.

From blue turf to blue state.

Never thought I would utter these words: “C’mon, Coach Petersen.”

  24. 808 December 4, 2016 9:16 am

Ohana Hawaii is for Hawaii one day and against the Hawaii on another day. Today he has a gripe with the way the coach runs things.

I don’t think he went to school in the U.S.A. If he did, that school should lose their accreditation. It’s comical reading his post. We need humor once in awhile on this post.

But, he writes on this blog just like everyone else. He is just a lot harder to understand than the average blogger. A lot harder to understand!

  25. islandman December 4, 2016 10:10 am

It’s Middle Tennessee St vs Hawaii, per another blog.
