Tuileta eyes 2017 return

tui1

If all goes according to schedule, former Punahou two-sport standout Larry “Tui” Tuileta will enroll at UH as a full-time student in January. Tuileta, who is taking classes at Kapiolani Community College, is seeking enough transferrable credits after transferring from USC in January.

That timetable would enable Tuileta to compete for the Warrior volleyball team during the 2017 season. He said he is unsure of his football plans.

Tuileta was the Offensive Player of the Year as a Punahou School senior quarterback in 2014. He was named Volleyball Magazine’s 2014 National Player of the Year.

He then attended USC, redshirting in football in 2014 and playing volleyball in 2015. He did not compete in football in 2015 and, in January, left USC.

    Welcome back Larry!

Anyone need tickets to the game at San Diego St. on Nov 5 at 4pm PST?

I got a block of 150 seats behind our UH team bench at the 30-40 yd line ($27 each)–UH ticket office price is $30.

Email: tomkitaguchi@yahoo.com or text me at 415-324-0585.

Tuileta is in good shape. He’s been playing on pickup volleyball matches against former Warriors

I never counted on Tuileta for UH football. It doesn’t seem like his heart is in it and besides, he’s probably better in volleyball. If Tuileta does come back to football, he’s going up against stiff competition as we’ll have 6-7 arms in the stable.
ST: Do you anticipate any late additions to the football team? I guess Walker decomitted to us, so are we looking a DL person joining?

#6 … “bowwar” … interesting question about any late additions like a DL … losing KT was HUGE. Also does anyone know if that ‘Bama transfer OL Chris Posh is a walk-on or scholarship player ???

    Welcome back Larry “Tui” Tuileta!

You know, on the KT matter, with Michael Green in his corner, I can’t say for sure that his saga has come to an end. Mr. Green is a heck of a litigator and his strategies are interesting. August is just around the corner. I am interested to see how it all plays out.

#9 You can count KT out for this season for sure. Best case scenario is they let him come back next season.

  11. Buffoman July 18, 2016 5:29 pm

#10 yeah, best case. Or just get his scholarship so he can finish school. Hopefully he see life beyond football.

Welcome back to Mr. Tuileta. I look forward to seeing on the court next season.

Condolences to Linda Coble and the Matthews ohana on the loss of Kirk Matthews. Great newsman and big UH fans. Saw them at several softball games.

Anybody tuning in to watch Moku Watson make his commitment? Think UH has a chance?

Bottom line is that you need to take care of business in the classroom.

    Good luck Mr. Watson

I wonder if Hawaii could travel to Australia a week before the game and have the last week of fall practice there.

    Re: Watson
I don’t think the chase is over. I’m sure teams will continue to recruit him until signing day.

  18. Stephen Tsai July 18, 2016 7:32 pm

He’s got family in NorCal. If he chose Cal, it would be a done deal. But Pullman? I’d say the door is ajar. Either way, I wish him — and any person who can go to college for free — the best of luck. College is expensive.

  19. kapakahi July 18, 2016 8:36 pm

Gotta agree with ST about Pullman……especially during the winter.

While Fangupo has yet to qualify at OSU, another former UH signee (under Chow) Gus Lavaka is already on the OSU roster……

Best of luck to Mr. Watson. WAZZU has completed a new Football Complex and is on par with many of the other Pac-12 schools. Coach Salavea at work? But those winters in the Palouse…….brrrrrr….

Gus Levaka was familiar with some of the former OSU coaches (now at BYU) when they were at Utah. OSU’s starting QB will be USU transfer Darell Garettson, who torched UH several seasons ago filling in for Chucky Keaton.
