Spring football: Practice #13

Following today’s spring practice, head coach Nick Rolovich addressed several areas.

> Rolovich said the QB competition will extend into training camp in August. “Nobody’s separated to a point where we feel like the other guys can’t catch him,” Rolovich said. “It’s up and down. Guys have up-and-down days. We need more consistency from that position.”

> He said the QBs have made progress learning this hybrid offense. “They just need more and more reps right now,” Rolovich said. “But we’ve still got a long way to go.”

> Health has been a concern, especially on defense, this spring. Rolovich said 27 players who did not fully participate in spring practice, including incoming recruits, will join the defense this summer.

> He praised the run game, noting, “some of our best playmakers are in the backfield.”

> Dejon Allen’s audition at left tackle might become a permanent move. “He’s a pretty smart football player,” Rolovich said. “And he’s a heck of an athlete (and) good dancer.”

> Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett delivered an impassioned post-practice pep talk emphasizing loving to be on the field and playing alongside teammates. It echoed the message the UH coaches have implored this spring. “He’s a guy where all of them want to be,” Rolovich said. “When the message is the same, it really drives it home.”

#4 totally agree. I mean the guy has zero special interest in UH other than loving the game and beginning to love the UH being a part time resident here in Hawaii. I heard he’s been a visible and consistent attendee at the practices. Much props and appreciation to all the former players, and not former players (but NFL) coming out to support the H. I’m sure the players feel the love and support.

    Go Bows!

Almost a lock that when Bennett retires, he’ll have a spot on the coaching staff. What an asset that would be.

As of last week, Green was representing both KT & KG. I heard he’s chomping at the bit. You haven’t seen x-examination until you’ve seen Mike Green cross the you know what out of a witness. I’ve seen him apologize to juries for demolishing witnesses on the stand.

  19. Boolakanaka April 26, 2016 4:50 pm

Notnasti….I have seen it close up a couple of times (he deposed me a couple of times) KT choose well….

  20. A-House April 26, 2016 6:48 pm

    Uh athletic code:

must be charged and convicted to be kicked off the team and/or out of school?
OR, only charged is good enough for the above?

spring practice started with so much promise and then, thud!!!

com’on Rolo and staff — breathe more life into your program!!
