Keke and keiki

Yesterday was the last day of Lance Keke Williams’ internship with the Boys & Girls Club of Honolulu. But he still plans to continue visiting — and coaching — the students who have become his friends.

“I loved it there,” said Williams, whose internship was part of his family resource studies. He is on track to earn a bachelor’s degree in December.

As always, Williams brought along UH student-athletes to play sports (dodgeball, basketball, football) with the kids — and share advice.

day started great in the valley – sunny skies w/ lots of sunshine

now, cloudy – no sun peeking through – but cooler

notice how much the weather has changed in Hawaii the past 15-20 years? especially the last 5 where tradewinds are fewer and more “kona-winds” with humidity up the kazoo!

Thanks for the pics, Stephen. Mahalo to all of the UH Student-Athletes for giving back to the local community and spending time with the Keiki. It means a lot to them.

    Good morning everyone!

MWC media conference in a few days to close out July? Then August, summer training, and the season starts. Time seems to have gone by faster this year and I would have missed the 9th birthday of The Warrior Beat blog yesterday.

    1. The MWC media days will be at the Cosmo.
    2. There was a 2-alarm fire at the Cosmo today.
    3. Situation is under control.

    Yup…ur right of course SteveM….

The main reason would seem to me…had a lot more posts to read last year.. but not have the facts if true or not..

And lots of posters were very negative about the coach and the admin…basketball program n the AD (including me)

Plus negative posts take longer to read…cuz many nuha with negative posts… n do speak up with their side…makes for a lively discussions…so maybe u were more busy reading…hence seemed like longer ??

To see the way Warriors and Wahine come out to help the kids is huge. We are going to see great teams representing UH in season play. Because the ones who care the most about others are the ones who will be blessed in their own endeavors. The Warrior and the Wahine teams are going to be very special.

    MAHALO WARRIORS AND WAHINE!!!

Pretty big fire and a lot of smoke by the looks of it. Guess the players won’t be hanging out at Bamboo Pool next week.

About a month ago, a poster started to rip players. His comment was marked as inappropriate. After that, his posts were automatically held. Then one of the techs approved him. But a week ago, the poster said he didn’t like or understand football, then said he would never post again. And then he’s tried to post 20 times every day although he can’t get past the filter. The point is, it’s a choice to be here or not. But if you say you don’t want to be here, then somebody might accept that offer.

Good call, ST! One can be edgy, but hurtful is unacceptable.

  15. nutmegger July 25, 2015 6:24 pm

I was looking over the schedule and 7 wins look very possible.
It seems to me that 7 wins would be enough for NC to get his 5th year.

  16. nutmegger July 25, 2015 6:27 pm

    If the Warriors win seven,
    Norm will be in heaven.

    Great Evening All!

Making a difference at the Boys’ Club…priceless!

  20. Shoko July 26, 2015 5:20 am

I think if Chow gets 7 wins, he could possibly get an extension rather than just letting him complete his 5-year contract.

When Bobby Hauck went to a bowl game in 2013 (7-6) after a combined six wins three years prior (2-11, 2-10,2-11), he was given an extension and a raise. The following year he was let go after going 2-11, again.

However, UH’s and UNLV’s situation regarding its football program is a little different. An increasing budget deficit and poor attendance might play a big factor on whether Chow is given an extension if he gets to a bowl game.
