    Guud Morning Tsaikos…Bootiful Day!
Great to see some interest in UH football from some great kids. Now … how to hanapa’a and get them to be a Warrior!

I saw Dejon Allen at Safeway yesterday. He’s good to go! He seems so athletic for a big guy. Super nice, too!

I have never seen, ever, a Rolo coaching staff reach so many prospects and make so many offers than any other UH coaching staff before, not during the Tomey years, Wagner years, Jones years, etc. Because of technology boom and the global reach you can search and find good players all over the world. There is no reason that UH can’t get 25 good scholarship players every year to play football and be competitive and have winning seasons regularly. If Rolo wants to get to the next level, he has to find that “Holy Grail” of a quarterback surrounded by excellent players around him.

Dru Brown did well last year, but he needs to show better and improve more to raise the team’s fortunes the next 2 years. Will he turn out to the “Holy
Grail”. The jury is out. Right now, the answer would be no, but I sure would like to be surprised. It’s good that there is interest out there in the UH football program by recruits. That doesn’t mean that they will sign here. In fact, most of the top players that are offered will NOT be coming here. But there might be some surprises. An impact on recruits is if the team plays winning, exciting, tough football that cause them to say, “I want to play with that team.” Good luck Rolo and Company!!!!

It’s nice to see that Rolo’s relationships are going far. His older brother must have had good things to say about Rolo to give UH a shot at him.

Keep up the great work Rolo; hope we can land this great kid!

Rolo: what colors should our fans wear at the road games–white or green (which doesn’t stand out so much)? So far, I got 215 fans going to UCLA; and 400 going to UNLV sitting right behind the team bench as we did 2 years ago.

UH at UCLA football game on Sept 9:

I just purchased the best available 215 tickets ($65 each); on the Hawaii side line in Sections 7H & 8L; 10-19 rows up around the 5 yard line. these sections are closer to the field as this stadium curves in & this is where visiting fans sit. This stadium has 77+ rows so this are great seats closer to the field. let me know if you want these tix as I had to pay for these upfront. Text me at 415-324-0585.

impressive, but out of UH reach?

  7. islandman June 19, 2017 11:51 am

Are there any other kickers to be added to the team besides Boyle ?
One internet article in April says Ryan Meskell would be added.

    #4,

Vai’s last season at Nevada was in 2010…..so never played for Rolo.

DPK: Thanks for the link. WOW! This guy is a game changer. Nu’u Fa’aola with moves. Fast too! HOLY!

Planning to attend a UH football road game this year (even tentatively)?
Post on the blog or email me the logistical info found on the Tsai-ko Away Game Planner…
    http://stevem.altervista.org/away17.html

…especially if you plan on Las Vegas this year. Include your hotel and ETA/ETD. You might be staying at the same or nearby hotel. Also note your tour group if used (you might be in the same group). 🙂

This Taua is impressive. He is tough to tackle, shifty and quick. I hope he comes to UH.

    Tom-WN:
Your commitment and dedication never cease to amaze me. One day, I am hoping I can join your group at a UH road game. Attending a UH road game is high on my bucket list.

norm chow would look toa taua directly in the eyes and say “son,if you want to play for me and become a rainbow warrior, you are going to have to cut your hair.”

  14. cappie the dog June 19, 2017 5:08 pm

I don’t think you’re attacking Norm Chow but it bears repeating: At least he didn’t put the program on probation.

  15. islandman June 19, 2017 5:56 pm

New staff at Nevada includes Jay Norvell HC; Matt Mumme, OC/Quarterbacks and Timmy Chang, Asst Coach/Insider Receivers.

  16. H-Man June 19, 2017 5:57 pm

Unofficial visit = he paid his own way. Right? So I take that to mean he is seriously considering UH. Toa Taua, become a Warrior !!!

  17. Ipu Man June 19, 2017 6:35 pm

He does the dipsy doodle with his shoulders,
    straight arms smasharoos,
puts it in 5th gear out speeding his defenders,
plus he plays smash mouth defense,
    and blocks.
What more can you ask for?
    Run receiver routes, too, perhaps.
Reminds me of Chad Owens, no fear.

  18. islandman June 19, 2017 6:46 pm

Somebody might tackle him by the hair .

  19. kapakahi June 19, 2017 9:08 pm

2 more Crusaders each give verbal commitments to become Warriors……
    ……WR Jonah Panoke
    ……S Kai Kaneshiro

Good to hear that UH is in the fix for Waianae HS LB Kana’i Mauga….

  21. cappie the dog June 20, 2017 4:25 am

It may take a ten-win season in order for Hawaii to get Toa Taua.

  22. iceebear June 20, 2017 4:41 am

Wow, Taua is a rare combination of pinball machine power, make you miss moves, accelerate away speed, and tremendous heart! A phenomenal RB who would fit right in with UH, given the deft ball handling skills of Brown, making both more dangerous off an option play. He would be a holy terror who has the ability to take over a game, as much as a quarterback. Hope he is one of those kids who are not blinded by the big program lights and will look at the unique experience of the Warriors and Hawaii.

flashes of brilliance — will it grow brighter or fade?

    AO…that’s a good one.
    Shows that,
    You’re still a young man.

  27. al June 20, 2017 8:12 am

    3 crusaders…set the table.
Now, should 3 big dudes join the banquet we could see a new trend.
