“Happy birthday, Jacob”
Jacob was able to participate in scout drills. He also called the special pass play, a recreation of the Rolovich-to-Lelie TD that beat Fresno State in 2001.
Jacob is a tough kid. He underwent 25 spinal taps and years of chemotherapy to conquer leukemia. Jacob, who had to learn to walk again because the ailment weakened his bones, now plays for the Hawaii Kai Dolphins.

Happy B-Day Jacob!
Warrior Dolphin!
Stephen, Did you find out what the status of Keala Santiago the safety out of Kahuku is? i thought from the write ups that he was a difference maker.
Happy birthday Jacob. Heart of a true Warrior!!!
warrirors/dolphins:
Santiago makes a lot of plays. He and Kalen Hicks will play this year.
The top three safeties are Trayvon Henderson, Daniel Lewis and Damien Packer.
Santiago has gotten a lot of time with the 2s.
But Austin Gerard also is having a terrific preseason. By the way, he’s somehow related to Beau Yap.
Yeah Jacob, Happy Birthday !!! Great to see you in a really nice Warrior t-shirt.
What happened to the freshman PK from Florida? I thought they were going to take some of the load off of Rigo? Who is doing the Kick-offs? Are they taking two kickers to Australia?
How are they handling special teams this year? I truly believe that Special Teams will make a big difference in our game in Australia. Whoever has the best special teams next Saturday will ultimately decide the game.
I expect the Bears to “load the box” on Hawaii and dare them to throw the ball…Depending on the pass protection, the Bears might be vulnerable to go patterns in the early part of the game.
What’s the current outlook of getting Max Hendrie cleared before the game? It would be awesome if could run on the field with the team wearing the Warrior uniform.
Happy Birthday, Jacob!
GO WARRIORS!!!
Hendrie is still awaiting approval.
Tick … tick … tick …
It’s a little scary to actually see our DT depth or lack there of on paper. KT will be greatly missed. Hopefully the coaches make that a priority position in recruiting this year. Stopping the run is once again going to be our Achilles heal on defense especially once the injuries start to mount up.
Happy Birthday, Jacob Johnson!
Good to see Governor Ige at a practice.
I guess he didn’t need a media pass. 🙂
On a positive note our WRs and RBs are as deep as I’ve ever seen them. Our O-Line depth is also pretty solid. Just hope we have a QB who can take advantage of these weapons at his disposal!
Unless we are in short yardage situations I would love to see the 4 wide receiver offense make a big come back. We definitely have the WR and Slots to make it work. Not as confident in the receiving abilities of our TEs.
ST: Thanks for the Hendie update. So is it the NCAA making the decision?
Go Jacob!!!
OK, Gov. You are again welcome and we’ll even give you and the Mrs. a free ticket to sporting events. Thank you for the 3Mil!! Keep that in the annual budget and adjust for COLA!!! (We wachin’ you) Now if you made it 5Mil…… Free t-shirt too! hehe
7…. I counted 104 players on the roster. Placekicker Stephen Yaffe is on the roster and they are taking 105 players to Australia. So that’s 3 kickers.
Great Afternoon All!
Happy Birthday Jacob!
Mahalo for that video, Blog Host.
It illustrates what is so great about CFB…the players are not so far removed from their own 10th birthdays that they can really get behind rejoicing about Jacob’s.
They are all pretty much still kids…playing a game that makes them happy. 😀
Safe travels to AussieLand!
To take the whole team with you on any trip is a tremendous booster for the players. They know that the coaching staff wants them, the athletic department backs the team, and the university is proud of their student athletes, and lastly the people of Hawaii are their supporters. This is a win win game for coach rolo and the university of Hawaii.
Who’s going from the staradvertiser to Australia ?
Happy Birthday Jacob!
Happy Birthday to a strong Warrior!!! You!
The Football game against Cal starts at 4 PM on Friday August 26.
The Wahine Volleyball match against Wisconsin starts three hours later at the Stan Sheriff Center. Unfortunately, the Arizona – Kansas St match starts at 4:45 PM. I guess it would be rude to stream the football game on the scoreboard during the VB match?
a most happy birthday, Jacob!
may your life be touched with many, many blessings such as health and happiness!
Ipo Man
Please explain to everyone what state funds for rail you are talking about. You sound as ignorant as 90% of rail opponents who don’t have a clue how rail is being financed.
You probably think the Feds will let Djou actually explore “other options. “
even if Max Hendrie were cleared on 8/20/2016 — it would be too late to allow him to go on the trip
do other schools go through the same “ringer process” as UH whenever international athletes are processed? or, do the other schools present “all” the necessary documents up front to allow the NCAA detectives to grant clearance fast?
i would hope that UHAD has produced an international “must have papers clearance list” to be used by all sports — if not, an administrator has done a poor job!!! not a “static list”, but an ever evolving list based on ‘additional’ NCAA requests for documents
At least Hendrie, won’t require a visa.
Sydney Bowl starts at 12 noon local time on Saturday, 8/27, 2016, and game is shown in Hawaii at 4 pm on Friday
so, my mind is tired and I’m trying to determine: Hawaii is one day “behind”, but 4 hours ahead?
is this correct? I know Japan is one day ahead, but 4 hours back from Hawaii; thus, logic says Hawaii must be one day behind, but 4 hours ahead — hot dog! jus likie Australia!!
one season
RE: showing the game at the SSC
They can always show the game on the projector screens instead of the scoreboard. I actually think they have done that before.
#27 … It looks like the state’s “administrative” fee (10% of the rail tax) amounts to around $25M in 2015 and $170M total through 2015 and goes into the general fund. http://khon2.com/2015/10/14/watchdog-group-files-lawsuit-over-states-administrative-take-on-rail-tax/
#30 … I cheated and used Excel. I think this works …
Hawaii is GMT – 10
Tokyo Japan is GMT + 9
Sydney Australia is GMT + 10
Since the game starts at noon the next day local Sydney time, I called that hour 36 local time in Sydney (12 noon + 24). That makes the GMT time hour 26 (26=36-10 or 2 am + 24). Then the local Tokyo time would be hour 35 (35=26 + 9 or 11 am + 24), and local Hawaii time would be hour 16 (26 – 10 or 4 pm + 0).
Awesome birthday celebration! Yahoooooo for Jacob!!!
Safe travels for everyone heading to Australia. Bring back a win!
#32 don’t be disingenuous. ipu man was clearly talking about state funds for rail as in “funding for rail construction” versus the state skimming off the top of the city’s rail tax to go into the general fund for the state.
wafan:
here or there?
our best to Izzy! and, you, of course!!
have not seen Djmitcho post lately – also, Sloat [ forgot his moniker ] – our next door neighbor when he was a youngster.
#34:
I always had difficulty with GMT – my brain is poor with math – heck, for many other things as well!!!
all I know is Japan is one day ahead and 4 hours back from Hawaii — could not forget this as we had annual training with the JGSDF annually for many, many years
thus, with your calculations, Sydney is one day ahead, but 5 hours behind Hawaii – Singapore is one day ahead and 6 hours back — gets very complicated when we had to call family
good friend in Indiana calls me one morning – 9 am his time and 4 am Hawaii time – my response was, “hey braddah, it’s 4 o’clock here – what the hell you want” — his response, “sorry, go back sleep”
watching Ancient Aliens last night – special on Russia and their occurrences with ETs – guy says US has 4 time zones, we have 11 to emphasize the size of his country – very interesting because they talked mosty about Northern Russia and the many unusual things happening in the Ural Mountains
ST: I hope they plan on taking Herndrie regardless of the decision. He has put in more sweat and blood than Non-players getting a trip. What’s the word.
Go Bows. OK Time to pack! Cheeeeeeeee
Dear Hodad, I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings.
Being 76 years old, I feel like I can say what I want
as I will soon will be with The Lord someday.
So I forgive you. Hope you can forgive me.
” Five Notre Dame football players were arrested after Indiana State Police said a trooper found marijuana and a loaded handgun in their car, while a sixth player was arrested in a separate incident and accused of punching a police officer.”

IPu Man, I’m sure Hodad will forgive you. It’s hard to stay informed and current after a certain age. The world has passed you by. Enjoy your retirement.
Korea and Japan is 19 hours ahead of Hawaii.
If it is 6 pm on Friday in Hawaii, it will be 1 pm on Saturday in Tokyo.
My son lived in Korea so I would subtract 5 hours in mind to determine what time it was there.
I’m not sure if Ikaikas accuracy has gotten better, I sure hope so.
