Friday Morning Lights

It was dark at 6 a.m., when the Warriors began workouts this morning, but it also was bright thanks to the UH maintenance workers installing new lightbulbs at Ching Athletic Complex.

Strength/conditioning coach Bubba Reynolds mixed some fun with the intensity. In one activity, a player stood in the middle of a square, with a teammate on each side. Reynolds would call a number, and the corresponding player would try to race past the middle guy. And then another number would be called, and so forth. The other activity was a one-on-one battle in which a player would earn a point for each time he would be able to touch an opponent’s knee.

But first, here are the warmups:

    Haka:
Right after they went into the weight room, the baseball team came out.
It also was impressive to see ROTC crawling all over the field.
A lot of Warriors out there this morning.

    ST,
Has it been like that in the past or has the culture and commitment from everyone changed with priderock?

A lot of baseball players and a few football players were at the softball game last night to cheer on the Wahine. Kalepa Naotala looked very studious-intelligent with his eyeglasses.

Wise coaches know to mix fun in with intensity. Love the pics, you can see the kids “playing” as they work hard.

    Enthusiasm begets enthusiasm.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

Dayton Furuta is a state wrestling and judo champ. Looks like he’s in his comfort zone with those drills.
