‘Bows arrive in Boise

BOISE β€” After spending overnight in Los Angeles, where they had meetings and study hall, the Warriors arrived this afternoon in Boise.

They checked into the downtown Boise hotel, unloaded equipment, changed into practice gear, then went Albertsons Stadium for a quick look at the famed blue turf. After that, the Warriors practiced at Rocky Mountain High.

    Blue turf…

  5. Maui Boy October 2, 2015 5:03 pm

Let’s get some offense or maybe it’s time to bring in a multi versatile quarterback like Woolsey. Defenses are sitting back because they know that Witek cant’t dance.
Get Ewaliko in the game, not Pedroza on receiver fake passes or trying to use Moleni in the las Washington game who under thru the receiver in the end zone. Pretty soon Maui football players will decide to go else ware like UNLV if they are not played at UH

Good morning before game day, Tsai-kos!!

    Everyone ready for tomorrow?!?!!

    GO ‘BOWS !!!!!

I am a realist and don’t really expect us to win tomorrow. But if we did it would probably mark one of the great turning points in UH football history. This possibility makes the game more interesting for me. We need to come out fast and strong and be in the game long enough to start believing we can win. Then a few breaks, a big dose of warrior spirit and the tide turns. On the other hand if we are down 21-0 at the end of the first quarter we will be a tired, beaten and demoralized team with 3 long quarters to go and looking at a very long and very grim plane ride home. We fans will join the grim parade and all chanting in unison for Fei Jai to be coach.

A tough game for the Warriors 10 – BSU 24.
I do hope the Warriors win.

  11. Da Punchbowl Kid October 2, 2015 6:52 pm

Mr. Boise… tear down that blue field!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  12. Da Punchbowl Kid October 2, 2015 7:05 pm

Ya don’t see me rant here very much anymore, but that field is an NCAA sanctioned, institutionalized, unfair advantage. Nothing against Boise, their people, their players or anything, but the blue field stinks.

Hawai’i wants to play in the MWC, we have to pay for travel for opposing teams. Boise wants to join the MWC, the blue field stays. Kukae pipi kane!!!

    Nuff said.

  13. cappie the dog October 2, 2015 9:07 pm

For a program, women’s volleyball notwithstanding, who is historically horrible on the road, Hawaii has pulled off some stunning upsets.

    Tennessee and Alabama in softball.

    Tulsa in back-go-back WAC tournaments.

    C’mon, Bows.

They put their pants on one leg at a time.

  14. lawaia October 2, 2015 9:12 pm

DPK: I concur with your above statements regarding the blue field, especially the last sentence. As my Dad would say “pulukeke” LOL. Imua Na Koa Anuenue.

  15. orioles4eva October 2, 2015 9:19 pm

Rocky Mountain High? The most laid back and chill student body in Idaho.

  18. Markazulu October 3, 2015 12:06 am

Do you guys think we will see more Lakalaka in the backfield?

  19. H-Man October 3, 2015 1:22 am

I think success of the running game depends on the play of the O-line and plays that give runners like Harris and St Juste an opportunity to run outside. But where is the fullback? UH usually runs from a single-back formation.

  20. UpIrons October 3, 2015 3:50 am

    Go ‘Bows! You got this!

  21. mctruck October 3, 2015 5:01 am

Maybe too early to say this, but coach Mason being a interim HC at Boise St. and now the Defensive coordinator for UH could fiit in as the next HC for the Warriors in the event Chow is canned; at least he has HC credentials in his resume, and he’s younger than Chow, and probably knows something about Boise St., internal operations, football-wise??

  22. mctruck October 3, 2015 5:07 am

If coach Mason became HC for UH, I don’t think he’d be shy of asking JJ to take over as the OC for the Warriors?

  23. Ratmin October 3, 2015 5:36 am

    GO HARD WARRIORS!!

  29. Ipu Man October 3, 2015 8:19 am

Ivan Jasper will probably be Navy’s next coach, so who else
    can get UH’s offense moving…again? JJ πŸ™‚

  30. kahuna October 3, 2015 8:33 am

You mentioned that Mason was the interim HC at Boise. You forgot he was also the interim HC at SMU so he had two stints at the position.

I thought about Mason too. I just like his demeanor and the way he carries himself. Very professional. Not one of them screaming maniacs who feels the need to get in the kids face all the time. He is more of a teacher of the game instead of a drill seargent. Players tune out when someone is screaming in their face. Its more productive to instruct and teach IMHO.

  31. el burro sabio October 3, 2015 8:37 am

IpuMan, the guy that Ivin will replace wants to come home to “retire”

  32. Shoko October 3, 2015 8:42 am

The saying is it takes 4-5 years to build a winning program but if you’re Texas and pay top dollar (5 million/yr) to win now rather than later, firing a head coach that’s only in his second year doesn’t seem so unfathomable.

Not to mention a wealthy group of boosters that don’t have a problem with generating the huge buyout that follows if they do decide to make a change.

  33. Rodney October 3, 2015 8:44 am

    Bows 2W-2L
    After we hopefully beat Boise
    by exposing that freshman Qb
to the warrior defense .Will we
    fill the stadium next week.!!
    Boise is Beatable!!
    Go get’m Max.

  36. Ipu Man October 3, 2015 9:19 am

el burro sabio, would Ken Niu-mata-lolo take a pay cut?
    Chow’s a bargain…

  37. Boolakanaka October 3, 2015 10:11 am

Kenny is coming back home, but not to coach-retire. He saved plenty kupe at Navy.
