Warriors drop to 3 in poll, hold at No. 4 in RPI

http://www.avca.org/divisions/men/1-2-poll-4-20-15/

no surprise. UH down to 3. still one vote
Lewis up a spot to 1. UCI from 4 to 2. Loyola at 4
Pepperdine drops from 3 to 5.

RPI is good news for the Warriors but they still have a lot of work ahead of them. also good is that the next MPSF team is Pepperdine at 7.

1. Lewis. 2. Loyola-Chicago, swaps places with UC Irvine. now at 3
4. Hawaii. 5. Ohio State. 6. Penn State

When do the teams for Nationals get announced?

  2. setaone April 20, 2015 8:30 am

Sorry….my comment should have said, when do the teams for the Sand Nationals get announced.

  3. GOBOWS April 20, 2015 8:31 am

Despite a really horrible weekend, our RPI stays at 4, do the new rankings come out later today? I wonder how far we drop down… At this point that almost doesn’t matter bc usually at the end of the season, it’s just a matter of putting in work at the tournament

Ha! Page must have been re-vised while u was writing bc as soon as I clicked “send” I saw we are now 3. We gottah shake off and look ahead! Go Bows!!

some info on sand nationals are starting to appear on VT. perhaps official confirmation will be out soon. but unofficially, here’s what’s started to trickle out:

The team competition and seeds (per geddyleeridesagain):
    1-USC
    2-Hawaii
    3-FIU
    4-Pepp
    5-Georgia St
    6-FSU
    7-LBSU
    8-Stetson

    the schedule (per fobra):

    Team Championship Opening Round:

Wow….LBSU in the first round is a tough one.

How exciting it is, the Warriors and Sandbows with post season play!

  8. Cubicle1126 April 20, 2015 1:27 pm

if the above info holds … then hawaii gets lbsu in the first/quarterfinal round. tough matchup. hawaii just got by the beach a couple weeks ago, so the beach, for sure, will be looking for revenge.

if hawaii can get past lbsu, then they’ve got the florida schools (fiu and fsu) waiting in the wings. either will be a tough out.

the interesting thing is that usc and pepperdine are on the same side of the draw. i think those two schools have been playing the best volleyball of late. pepperdine has lost twice to usc this season, but both times have been tight, with usc winning 3-2 each time. pepp seems to be able to match up well with usc. so that potential semifinal could go either way.

    6. thank you for the help. just got back home. Was on the phone with UCLA and they mentioned. they had just learned of their pair getting in.

Looks pretty spot-on. TV (off camera) had asked me yesterday who I thought would be the top 8 and those are exactly the teams I mentioned. not rocket science since they stayed pretty much how the poll was last week. with Stetson the AQ out of the Atlantic Sun

Florida schools are both better than Long Beach , FSU beat Long beach earilier, I think UH got a good draw, they avoid USC/Pepperdine until the final. They just need to play better than they have the past month and hope Taylor is ready to go.
