Based on the pay scale, I guess donuts are the men’s vb equivalent to the tickets purchased by Shoji for the first so many students for the 2011 Sub-Regional/Regional. Either way, nice gesture. I hope people pack the Stanley, these guys deserve to play in front of packed house.

    1. don’t think you can compare the scenarios since Shoji bought tickets for NCAAs
doughnuts went quickly, he only brought a couple dozen, spur of the moment thing

    As for today’s polls
    https://www.avca.org/polls/dii-men/4-10-2017.html
top 9 remain the same, couple of changes in first-place votes.
    1. Long Beach State 21 votes, 2 Ohio State 2, 3 BYU 1
    4. Hawaii. 5. UCI, 6. UCLA. 7. Lewis. 8. Pepperdine. 9. Stanford.

    https://www.avca.org/polls/beach/4-10-2017.html
Beach not much of a change, although Pepperdine is now tied with UCLA for No. 2, the Waves had been all alone at 2 and the Bruins at 3 last week
and Long Beach and Hawaii tied for 5, 49ers had been alone at 5 and the SandBows 6 last week

I agree with WaWa #1. It was a nice gesture by both coaches, showing their gratitude for fan support. Wade actually went out there to personally thank the fans for their support. Not sure why it was necessary to trivialize his gesture because it wasn’t as generous monetarily. Might point out a big difference between the salaries of the two coaches. Also agree with WaWa that packing the Stanley Saturday is a great way to show our support for a terrific group of players who have worked hard to make us proud.

Only single tickets left in lower bowl. Plenty of good seats still available on upper levels. Can’t wait till Saturday. Same night as the OIA baseball championships so bummer if my team is in but oh well. The Stanley will be fun on Saturday. Might even see more of Rado after his play last week. But pretty sure Stin will be a be a force against the Waves.

Ticket sales are “brisk : according to Wade.
Franciskovic earns Hawaii’s first POW of the season.
    see mpsports.org for more info.
    I’ll be back later.

Congrats to Jennings, very much deserved. He has elevated his game and think if he continues to be a force at the net ( including being an offensive threat)that UH can make the MPSF finals. Remember two years ago, his serving was pretty terrible, he couldn’t dig much and now he’s maybe the best server on the team and also a great back row player.

#3 Nothing was trivialized. She was reporting, not judging. Apples and Oranges.

    7. thanks. I wasn’t judging. as I wrote, don’t think you can compare the two since they were different scenarios.

anyway, here’s the UH release on Franciskovic. well deserved.

Congrats to Jennings. Finally getting recognized for his outstanding play.

Hope to see a packed house on Saturday. I’ll be in my usual seat, behind the scorer, “encouraging” the down ref to make good calls. 😆

  10. Maverick April 10, 2017 11:09 pm

Will the refs be using the replay challenge system for the match?

  11. diamonds808 April 11, 2017 9:43 am

Congrats to Jennings as he has worked hard this past season to get where he is. He was humble enough to recognize that he needed work and now it’s paying off.
YES LET’S PACK THE STANLEY ON SATURDAY! These guys certainly deserve a sell out. If I could go to LA to support these guys against UCLA, everyone can get to Manoa to pack the place!
PS – I hope the down ref from last Saturday’s match is not involved – he was so pro-UCLA and it was obvious, made at least 4 bad calls that gave UCLA the points.
    LET’S GO ‘BOWS!!!

    new thread up for Tuesday.

    10. don’t know if they’ll be using it. will ask

    11. doubt if it will sell out. Think they’d be happy with 6-7,000.
and don’t know who will be assigned to come out here. They will be MPSF refs.
