Wahine assistant announcement Wednesday

I know, i know, we’ve heard it before but Shoji spoke with administration Tuesday and paperwork is supposed to be cleared on both the 2nd assistant (Ah Mow-Santos’ replacement) and volunteer assistant Pestolesi.

Didn’t get in contact with the Shojis until after I wrote my story for Wednesday’s paper. Team is in Italy for World League and 12 hour time different.
They did send quotes saying how proud they were to represent Hawaii and happy that all three Hawaii players made the team.

Shojis become the first brothers to play for the U.S. in the same Olympics. The Suwaras brothers played in different Games (64 and 68).
My research found that this is the first time three Hawaii-born players are on the Olympic volleyball team.

Cindy, thank you for the update. I was wondering where this stood but didn’t ask since I knew you would share any news as soon as you had it.

Lindsey Berg is an amazing pickup!
Robyn was awesome as it is, but now Lindsey has the potential to get after and recruit through the Midwest as well as locally.

Shoji’s recruiting has been top shelf.

Great pick up, I did not see that coming! What a staff!

Wow, if true, we get another world class Olympic setter as assistant coach. Incoming Norene Iosia, as well Taylor and Kendra must be ecstatic. It should be fun when the invariable “Dave favors Punahou” theorists come back online. Just kidding!

Yes, a great get for the Wahine volleyball program. Both Lindsey and Robin were on the US National team as team mates. Is it possible that Robin recommended her? Whatevah, Lindsey will be a perfect fit. Eagerly awaiting for the season to get started.

Berg’s resume is outstanding as a player, as a coach not much is known. Hope it all works out for the NaWahine. The combo of new coaches Tom and Lindsey might be the ticket to the final four.
