Volleyshots on break

Am on the mainland to be with my mom.
Probably won’t be online much, if at all.
Wahine off until Wednesday and have a few light practices this week.

Have a nice trip, family is the most important thing in life IMO. We will miss your vast contributions to the log but until you return, “why can’t we can all get along” to quote some one from the past.

This is continued from the last session. Last year when I had hawaiiantel.com. I paid oceanic cable (TWC) about $32 a month to hook up to OC 16 sports so I could watch wahine volleyball. After the season was over I cancelled my subscription.

Not to beat a dead horse, but including arizona’s rpi in the weekly discussion IS really useful–it’s hawaii’s best win and is potentially very important come postseason selection/seeding time. In that respect the az loss to cal really hurts.

Nice article on GG yesterday (Kaleo). IMHO any of DS (possible exception of MR) can play at the D-I level.

In fact I see little difference between SK, CA, ES, GG, KP. (Not counting RO, who is red-shirting.)

Enjoy a much deserved break, Cindy, and have a safe trip. Looking forward to your return with more juice on how the line up is faring.

The Men’s Volleyball 2017 schedule has been released. It includes 2 exhibition matches: October 28 (UC Irvine) and Nov. 26 (SportConX).

This is the last time Hawaii and the other Big West teams play as part of the MPSF and it looks like the MPSF has changed the way the conference matches are scheduled. Instead of playing everyone else twice, each team plays half of the other teams twice and the other half once. Anybody know the reason for the change?

Yikes hawaii gets only one game each between the two weakest teams, that can’t be good for playoff positioning if other teams will play cal baptist and san diego twice instead of just once like the warriors!

  9. Warriorfan October 19, 2016 1:36 pm

Actually the warriors play three of the weakest teams only once with USC Also( eventhough they beat us last year) not happy about this mpsf schedule at all. Meanwhile northridge will get to play ucsb, ucla and pepperdine only once!!! Not very fair!

    Re: MVB schedule:

SportConX game (aka UH vs Hawaii) is 11/16, not 11/26.

When the Booster Club board met with Charlie Wade a couple of weeks ago, he didn’t seem too concerned. It gives him a few more non-conference matches, which will affect the RPI more than the conference games.

Next year, there will be only 10 conference matches (Big West) and up to 20(!) non-conference games. Charlie mentioned possibly having another tournament, among other things. Playing the remaining MPSF teams will definitely help the RPI. Will have to see how this pans out.

Fall camp started Monday. Renewed my season tickets yesterday. Can’t wait!

Interesting write up on Dave Shoji by Volleymag.com: http://volleyballmag.com/shoji101916/

I think reaching the elite 8 last season opened some eyes to the quality of play in Hawaii. The domination of PSU was particularly brow raising.
