continuing from the last thread, if the transfer/new player is bubica … then there are some concerns.

she’s been injured. i remember her wearing a heavy knee brace last year, which limited her mobility. (she still brought it on offense tho). if she’s better/healthy now, then great.

but also, i don’t remember her being a primary passer, which as we all know was one of hawaii’s achilles’ heels last year. if she’s not a passer, then the coaches will have to get creative in the passing formation. if bubica were to play OH, then whoever plays Opposite will also have to be a primary passer. but if it is bubica, and she’s healthy and can help on offense, then i’m sure the coaches will find a way to make it work.

Bubica did not pass or serve. But her offensive production was out of the roof. Hitting almost .300 with over 4 kills per set. She would be a great OH1 with a Ds coming in.

  3. Cubicle1126 March 26, 2015 10:48 am

true brandon — i would welcome that kind of offensive production and efficiency.

a DS subbing in for her in the back row seems fine, but but someone will also have to pass when bubica is front row (likely the opposite would have to be a passer).

  4. warriorfan March 26, 2015 10:52 am

We do have some capable players that Dave can sub in the back row for Bubica. Anderson, Guinasso. possibly Greeley or Granato ( they would be options hitting from the backrow too)

Excited for the live stream later today , first time seeing UH’s 3-5 flights play.

Flights 1, 2 and 3 also won for UH.
Super impressed by Spieler, she is relentless, a lot of digs go for kills, and they look intentional.

Also impressed by Rooks. She has improved ALOT.

thanks, odd that UH’s tweet has it 3-2.

  16. Cindy Luis March 26, 2015 5:41 pm

    13. Spielers ‘digs’ are intentional. She does a bump over usually to the empty corner on 2.

Hall said he likes how Rooks has improved And can’t say enough about Spieler. Said she practices every day just like she plays and that she is the role model for the team.

#14 My first time watching the wahine volleyball team play was at Klum Gym when the USA National team with Flo Hyman and Patty Dowdell came to play two exhibition matches against a UH team. Prior to one of the game, I watched a young man whom I assumed was the maintenance man, diligently sweep the entire gym floor. Fast forward 30+ years, that same man is still concerned about cleaning the floors! Hope you get your Saber Glide Floor Cleaning Machine Dave.

BYU kind of blew it in set 3, and lost in 4 to UCI. I hope BYU wins tomorrow.

Where is the blog for the UH vs San Diego match? We all expected UH to win and they did. However, the joy over that win was extremely short-lived as Irvine beat BYU in four sets, thus snapping their 36-home-match win streak. Now the onus is on UH to win all eight matches – if Irvine can repeat the feat tomorrow. That includes two matches on the road against BYU, including senior night there. Not good news at all. If BYU can win tomorrow night, it allows just a little breathing room (for senior night at BYU). This weekend I am heavily rooting for BYU while watching their home matches against Irvine.

Just watched the BYU/UCI match. BYU doesn’t look as good as they were made out to be at the beginning of the conference season. They’re finally being tested in conference. So far, they’ve already lost the series to Pepperdine, and are on the brink of losing the UCI series (@home). Their passing looked very suspect, and despite UCI who having 24 (?) service errors still lost. Based on tonight’s match, UCI looks like they could very well sweep the series, which as others have already mentioned just ups the ante for Hawaii when it comes down to winning the MPSF regular season.

BYU is beatable, but their HCA is HUGE! But if UCI could do it, then the Warriors should be able to do it too.

  22. Brandon March 27, 2015 8:55 pm

So the poster on VT is now claiming they can’t identify the girl on UCI roster. Ive heard from a anonymous poster who is very accurate when it comes to volelyabll info that pickrell has asked for a release. So it may be her

new thread above about UH-UCSD sweep. Kankakee hurt.
UH clinches MPSF berth, as does UCI and Peppedine.

apologize for not being able to post a new link for UCSD match.
    I was unable to post.

as for VT … a lot of stuff posted is accurate, some of it not. As mentioned before I do not know who it is. others can speculate about UCI players.
