SandBows add Easter tourney

this replaces the event that was supposed to be on Kauai but was cancelled when sponsor pulled out.

FROM UH:
Hawaii will host Saint Mary’s in the First Foundation Bank Easter Classic on April 14 and 15. The teams will face off in dual match action, first at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 14 at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex, then at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 15 at the Queen’s Beach Sandbox.

Saint Mary’s, out of the West Coast Conference, is an up-and-coming program in collegiate beach volleyball. The Gaels, who currently stand at 14-4 overall, are ranked in the DiG Volleyball Magazine Top 20 Poll, while receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll.

The First Foundation Bank Easter Classic replaces the recently cancelled Aloha Invitational on Kaua’i. The First Foundation Bank Easter Classic on April 14-15 will be the final home dates for the team this year.

The Rainbow Wahine (18-4), ranked No. 6 in the latest AVCA Poll, host Cal Poly and No. 2 Pepperdine this Friday and Saturday. Both days will be at the Ching Complex with Saturday serving as Senior Day.

I like how they still call it a classic even though there is only one team coming lol

The Gaels, coached by Angela Rock. The Bow’s should read her book, if they haven’t already. http://www.wafb.com/story/34458627/beach-volleyball-hall-of-famer-releases-book-angela-rocks-advanced-beach-volleyball-tactics

In case you missed it, Big West declines full membership to UCSD:

So no traveling partner for Na Wahine. Tritons still joining Big West’s inaugural men volleyball season next year.

Too bad. Unlike USD and SDSU it’s very hard to get into UCSD academically. A very good school, amazingly scenic and very expensive and they have to have one of the prettiest baseball fields on the West Coast.

Big west should invite Grand Canyon U to the league instead .

UCD could get mad and withdraw from the Big West VB conference. Just saying.

    5. odd, thought it was a done deal. but as the article states:
Schools often are denied in their first attempt at joining a new conference. Bakersfield was denied by the Big West twice after transitioning from Div. II to Div. I, and then once by the Western Athletic Conference before the WAC finally admitted it in 2013.

    6. UCSD costs what the other UC schools do and that includes other Big West schools UC Santa Barbara, Irvine, Davis and Riverside.
    8. think you mean UCSD not USD, the latter which is in the WCC. Tritons are committed for men’s volleyball. They were hoping all sports could move to DI status.
UCSD will be an affiliate member for men’s volleyball.
    7. Grand Canyon is leaving the MIVA for men’s volleyball and coming over to the MPSF.
