New NCAA Volleyball History book has Shoji top 80s coach, Wahine ’83 No. 5 in the pre-rally scoring era

Book went live on Amazon Wednesday night. Will have more info later but this is what I got tonight

Shoji was selected the top coach of the 1980s, the 1983 Rainbow Wahine NCAA championship team No. 5 in the pre-rally scoring era (1981-2000). Voting done by current and former coaches, players and media.
Named to the all-decade team for the 80s were Wahine Deitre Collins, Kori Pulaski and Teee Williams.
UH’s Yuval Katz selected to the all-90s men’s team.
Others stories are on Chris McLachlin and several Punahou players who went on to NCAA greatness.

a nice honor for shoji and all the players with hawaii ties, collins, pulaski, williams and katz … and also for chris mclachlin …

Thought Shoji garnered coach of the year honors in 2004, but guess not. That year they went 28-0 regular season using a fast offense. (Way before it became trendy.) Kanoe Kamana’0 was the lone returning starter.

    2. This is an honor from the new book. nothing to do with Shoji’s other COY honors. He also was named coach of the NCAA 25-year anniversary team a while ago.

1 haven’t seen the book so don’t know if there are other Hawaii players on other all-decade teams.
