University of Hawaii returning junior outside hitter Brett Rosenmeier had eight kills and incoming freshman libero Gage Worsley 20 digs as the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team picked up its first victory of the FIVB Men’s Under-21 World Championship on Wednesday in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic.

Two other Rainbow Warriors on the 12-man roster, incoming sophomores Patrick Gasman and Austin Matautia, did not see action on Wednesday.

On Sunday, former Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball players Karissa Cook and Katie Spieler made good in their first international tournament together, earning the bronze at NORCECA Ochos Rios in Jamaica on Sunday.

Cook and Spieler were the USA’s top women’s finishers in the third tournament of the 2017 NORCECA Continental Tour. NORECA includes the senior national volleyball teams of North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Cook and Spieler went a perfect 3-0 in pool play and won their quarterfinal against Guatemala before falling to Cuba during the semifinals. In the bronze medal match, USA topped Canada’s Helene Rancourt/Sarah Meunier-Bedard, 21-18, 21-13.
It was the Cook’s international debut and the second career NORCECA medal for Spieler, who captured a silver with Delaney Knudsen at a 2015 NORECA tournament in Florida. Cook and Spieler were teammates on the 2014 UH squad, but did pair up that season. They have since played in three AVP events together in the last two months, before getting their first international run together in Jamaica.

The Beach hires former All-American setter Joy McKienze-Fuerbringer as new head coach, replacing Gimmillaro. Her husband Matt Fuerbringer is coming on as associate head coach.

watching the match against Egypt, Rosey is blossoming. He’s living up to his number 3 ranked recruit out of high school potential. His backrow attacks are now lethal and his passing is the best for the outside hitters on the team.
Rosey, Tui and Gage should be the best passing combination in the ncaa next year, no doubt.

By the way Gage Worsley has 36 digs in the last two matches combined.
Considering almost every hitter they have faced would be an all american in ncaa ,that’s outstanding.
