alright lets go wahine sand volleyball!

and speaking of wahine volleyball, since that thread about the scheduling of the indoor was closed too quickly, i guess i will take my chance and rip on the scheduling here starting on the football and mens basketball…

and since both football and mens basketball is in disarray…and apparently fumbled around na wahine…this is why i say title ix is too weak. and if it isnt too weak couldnt somebody including if should it be shoji sue using title ix against football and mens basketball or sue against title ix for being a lack of use.

Disappointing news to wake up to.
Like the warriors yesterday kind of wish they had lost earlier in the previous two meetings to this opponent. Instead of when it really matters.

Man these UH teams are really not performing when the pressure is on. First the women’s basketball team, then the men’s basketball team, then the men’s volleyball team, and now the sand volleyball team. Hopefully both volleyball teams can still pull out some wins.

    Very frustrating.

    RE: Men’s chances of at-large

I don’t see it happening. IMO, if they had split at BYU and tied for the regular season title (or course 2nd based on the tiebreaker), then they’d have a much stronger case. But a decisive 4 set loss, on a neutral court, to the 3rd place team that finished just 1 game behind 2nd…plus losing 3 of the last 4….doesn’t look promising.

Hawaii faces FSU. The winner faces Pepperdine, which lost 3-2 to USC. not an easy road.

    1. Title IX has nothing to do with scheduling. It is about equal opportunity in education. It has been applied to athletics, which was a surprise to the late Patsy Mink. Or so she told me in an interview back in 2002.

Fine to rant but be informed before doing so.

UH volleyball has no control over how the Mountain West schedules football, one of the problems of not having programs in the same conference. But the Big West has not been kind to the Wahine either.

But I agree that for men’s basketball to come in late with a preseason event after the volleyball schedule had been tentatively set was not right. Shoji said he changed the schedule for the fans because it would be better for them, especially when avoiding a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.

    7. we’ll see what happens All hinges on tonight’s match. If UCI loses to Pepperdine, then those are the two that go to the NCAA from the MPSF.

UH is 2-1 vs. Pepperdine. better strength of schedule.
Waves did go 2-0 vs. BYU in Malibu, went 1-1 vs. UCI both going 3-2.

UCI will not have Kyle Russell who apparently is academically ineligible. Had been told earlier it was an injury.
