washington upsets stanford – too bad for stanford

long has 1 year left at DII or was that passi? amazed that long retires, thought sand vb is what she loves to do.

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING NA WAHINE

  2. LC November 27, 2014 5:32 am

We may have another commitment soon, that comes from a very reliable source on the mainland.
Senior night is also when we sometimes see visiting recruits so keep your eyes peeled.

  3. Cubicle1126 November 27, 2014 8:05 am

    Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Cindy – why would Long have to play at DII or lower if she chose to keep playing? She could go to another DI school and play or be eligible immediately if Hawaii granted her release.

  4. Cindy Luis November 27, 2014 9:07 am

    3. you’re right. so much for papal infallibility. For some reason I was thinking of Waber’s situation where her only choice was DII when transferring for a third time,
Long would be exactly like Magill when given a release and be able to play right away

  5. kahuna November 27, 2014 9:08 am

Cindy….are the rules regarding transfer same in footballl and volleyball. I’ve always thought if you graduate in 4 years and not play one of those years you will have one more year to play D1. UH defensively back Taz Stevenson was able to transfer to UH even though he redshirted 2013.

Waber was a bad example because she was a DOUBLE D 1 transfer. She went to both UH and SDSU. Of course going to a 3rd D1 school was going to be problematic.

If Ginger does finish her undergraduate in May she should have one year left to play

  6. kahuna November 27, 2014 9:11 am

Never mind….LOL…..submitted post after Cindy answered.

  7. Cindy Luis November 27, 2014 9:15 am

    2. Or when those who have signed come in. I remember that being the case with Hartong, Goodman and Uiato sitting on the bench in 09.

  8. Cindy Luis November 27, 2014 9:20 am

    6. no worries.

  9. hatakeman November 27, 2014 9:51 am

    Happy Turkey day!

  10. vballfreak808 November 27, 2014 10:47 am

    Happy Thanksgiving all!

Other news is Julia Chizanskos from Archbishop Mitty HS is committed to the sand program for 2016-17. I think she has been committed for over a month now.

  11. warriorfan November 27, 2014 12:59 pm

    Thanks vballfreak808
is Julia going to play beach only or do both like Emma Smith? She is 5′ 10 btw
Chizanskos is a very good all around player for Nor cal’s best high school team, and can help UH’s backcourt and stabilize passing IMO

  12. warriorfan November 27, 2014 1:17 pm

    2. Assumming from the 2016 class?? Any idea who it is??
really hope it’s Kathryn Plummer, be on the look out for a 6′ 6 blonde 😉

  13. LC November 27, 2014 2:15 pm

I can’t add anything else right now other than she’s from Southern Cal and will make a decision soon, other schools are involved is my guess.

It could be Plummer although the last statement that I read from her, which I believe was back in Sept. was that she has plenty of offers and wasn’t in a hurry to make a decision.

Interesting that her mom follows the following programs on twitter. UH, Stanford, UCLA. Michigan, UW, Cal, Penn State, Minnesota and Arizona, so mom is probably involved.

  14. warriorfan November 27, 2014 2:19 pm

You can cross out Michigan, UW, Penn state, and Minnesota, Plummer wants to play at a competitive Sand program. think it’s down to UH, Stanford and UCLA….

  15. warriorfan November 27, 2014 3:02 pm

speaking of Plummer, you can see a replay of her game in the cif division 2 championship now on fox primetime.
She hits like Nikki taylor and has good setting hands IMO, perfect opposite.

  16. warriorfan November 27, 2014 3:10 pm

okay Plummer is no Norene Iosia setting wise, but she is really good. She hits like she’s a junior in college already and plays decent backrow defense for a 6′ 6 player.

Lindsey Ruddins for UCSB is good too, im surprised how big of a leaper she is. UCSB got a good one but Plummer is better IMO.

  17. LC November 27, 2014 3:12 pm

I agree sand is big with her .

  18. LC November 27, 2014 3:19 pm

I’m watching that match and did I just hear the announcer say that she is fully committed to LMU or was he talking about someone else, swore he said Plummer.

  19. warriorfan November 27, 2014 3:23 pm

wasn’t paying attention, seriously doubt Plummer is committed to LMU.
Ruddins will be heard of a lot for the dink queens against the wahine next season.

  20. LC November 27, 2014 3:33 pm

He did it again he’s confusing her with someone else the other guy called him on it.

  21. LC November 27, 2014 3:37 pm

She’s not only tall she’s a big girl

  22. warriorfan November 27, 2014 3:39 pm

Plummer puts up a huge block. Ruddins very error prone.

  23. warriorfan November 27, 2014 3:40 pm

    21. yep reminds me a ton of Nikki taylor her junior year of High school and club, hits the same way, same built, plays backrow.

  24. LC November 27, 2014 3:49 pm

There is an interesting connection between Plummer,Baby G, T-Street and My Recruiting Solutions.

  25. warriorfan November 27, 2014 4:11 pm

Okay Ruddins/Rice will be a problem for the dink queens in the future, however I think Granato/Greeley are better.

  26. warriorfan November 27, 2014 4:14 pm

Looks like UH beach team got a commitment from Beka Wachob from Florida as well.

  27. Not an Expert November 27, 2014 5:22 pm

Cindy do not recall Hartong coming in 2009. I believe she came in 2010 and as a freshman, started all 30 games at middle that year.

  28. Not an Expert November 27, 2014 5:25 pm

I stand corrected you were meaning coming in on a recruiting visit in 2009.

  29. hollycow November 27, 2014 7:09 pm

    12. Doubt if you’ll see Plummer this weekend, the recruits that come in for the last home weekend are the freshmen recruits for indoor and sand for next season. Last year’s senior night, Guinasso, Koelsch and Schreiber were here. Even if they were already here for their official, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mitchem, Castillo, Granato and even the 2015 sand recruits here.

  30. AdmrVT November 27, 2014 7:40 pm

#29. I believe juniors aren’t able to take official visits yet. So, not Plummer.

  31. LC November 27, 2014 8:23 pm

I agree it won’t be Plummer never suggested it would be. The conversation here kind of morphed into one about Plummer. I have no idea if UH is recruiting her or if she even wants to come here.

Don’t think Mitchem or Castillo would be here either if I remember correctly both have been here a couple of times.

Maybe Granato and some sand players ,maybe no one will be here.

  32. hollycow November 27, 2014 9:45 pm

    31. Mitchem was here during the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational and Castillo the Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge.

  33. islandman November 28, 2014 7:37 am

Good story on Adolpho by Cindy today. She wasn’t even considering going to college until UH began to recruit her; she committed to UH basketball as a sophomore in high school. Pat Charity was the basketball coach around that time for awhile, taking over for Jim Bolla, i think. Then Takahara-Dias came in in 2009.

Per Scott W, she was basketball player playing volleyball, but now she looks like a volleyball player. She plans to play basketball as a grad student.

  34. LC November 28, 2014 8:06 am

26 Haven’t seen anything about Beka Wachob committing for sand. She has two twitter accounts one has nothing about Hawai`i that I could find, the second also with the exception of this on her bio…Beach Volleyball ☀️Hawaii bound 9/15/14 Dominique Craig #23.

Beach Volleyball ☀️Hawaii bound 9/15/14 could mean anything. I believe her and Shinn know each other. Dominique Craig #23 appears to be her present boyfriend. One thing I know for sure is that she needs to tone down that eye make up 🙂

  35. Cindy Luis November 28, 2014 9:58 am

    27. yes, 09. her HS senior year. The three had already signed and were on the bench.
    30. you are correct.
    33. not sure why the repeat of items from the story. but glad you enjoyed it. It was UH volleyball that began recruiting her. She played for Imi Ike.

Re: sand recruits. Wong stayed on the mainland an extra day to do some recruiting/check in with recruits. Came back Monday.

  36. Cindy Luis November 28, 2014 10:05 am

    29. Mitchem won’t be here. Her team in the regionals. Play Saturday.

  37. setaone November 28, 2014 4:34 pm

Oregon State just beat Oregon and Oregon lost earlier to Colorado. Definitely affects Hawaii’s RPI.

  38. Cindy Luis November 28, 2014 5:37 pm

    37. it will affect UH but should not be that much. by my calculations, coming into the week UH would get the No. 21 at large berth out of 33).
    see new thread regarding scores

  39. Cubicle1126 November 28, 2014 7:03 pm

Cindy — there are 32 at-large bids (the former big east conference split into 2 — american athletic and another group that retained the name big east).

the oregon loss alone would not normally affect hawaii’s rpi too significantly, but consider that oregon went 0-2 this week, and a lot of hawaii’s non-conference opponents suffered losses in the final week of the season. that, plus hawaii is playing a riverside team with a terrible record (as well as a davis team with just an ok record), and well … hawaii’s RPI could take a hit in the final weekend.
