Greeley out for spring

Greeley had surgery on the same shoulder on Tuesday, will be out for spring. previous thread suggested redshirting. Think it’s too early to discuss that.
Some of you may have seen Stephen Tsai’s mention of her brother committing. to UH for football Kade Greeley 6-6 TE.

Healing prayers and prayers for a speedy recovery Kalei.

I missed the whole KG thing. She got surgery again on same shoulder? Feel horrible for her.

Did she re-injure it or it just never healed properly?

She may not want to redshirt. And just a really out there thought, but if she is not able to play, could she get an academic scholarship and the team get a transfer in for this season? Drastic and really out there….but possibility. I wouldn’t want her financially not be able to finish school, so she would have to go the academic route. Which is possible.

But if no can and she wants to finish out her senior season on vball scholarship this year, then so be it. She deserves it and deserves to be on this 2017 team if that is what she wants, even if she cannot contribute in the front. Which I’m sure she’ll want to do because of her and Mags friendship, too. I love seeing those two interact together. 🙂

Sure she could medically redshirt but we need her passing.

Wonder if Kade’s twin Karson made a decision on his college choice. I believe Rolo offered.

I feel bad for Kalei, hope she plays her senior season injury and pain free.

It doesn’t look like Karson was offered unfortunately, and I don’t think he signed with anyone Wednesday.

I believe Rolo offered both brothers. Greeley’s mom stated that Karson’s decision should follow shortly.

Kalei may not be a what one would be described as a terminator, but she’s a very intelligent hitter. She would be much more valuable as a 6 rotation outside hitter rather than the tallest backrow player in D1. We have enough high quality smalls on the current roster and 1 or 2 more on the way this coming Fall. IF she’s not close to 100% and in the same recovery stage as last season, IMO sitting out for 2018 would be a smart decision.

Wishes for 100% full recovery and a great senior season.

Sorry to hear about Kalei having to get another surgery. Hopefully she has a speedy recovery. But congrats to her and her brother as they get to attend school together!

In other news, Elena Oglivie was named PrepVolleyball National Freshman of the Year!

I know this is stating the obvious…but, boy…we need to work hard to keep Elena home.

I’ve read Ogilvie is anywhere from 5’9″ to 5’11”. Have not seen her play except for parts of an online video, but if she can get to 6′ or 6′-1″, she could be one of the best OHs Hawaii has produced for the collegiate level, alongside Danielson and Taylor. UH WVB’s success over the years has been due, in part, to keeping the best Hawaii players in-state (just noticed that not a single UH FB signee this year came directly from a Hawaii high school, and the top 15-17 went out-of-state–unfortunate). If UH is to continue to remain relevant on the national stage, signing Ogilvie is an important bellwether.

She could retire for medical reasons and be kept on athletic scholarship. It does not count against the NCAA limit.

You get 5 to play 4 so she simply redshirt. A medical redshirt doesn’t really help in her case although she would eligible.

All the very best Kalei. Life can be funny. I am sure you will do what is best for you and your life after volleyball.

From what I’ve been told, no plans to redshirt but all depends on the rehab process.
    2. same shoulder. it didn’t rehab as they expected. it sounded like this surgery was going to have a shorter rehab time, or so they hope. but haven’t spoken to her.

As for the suggestion she could medically retire, i’d say that is way too premature

    new thread up
