Hendrik Mol is slowly but surely turning into a a good Middle Blocker.
Hope we see Brett, Nainoa and Joe play in the third set

  15. Cindy Luis January 29, 2016 8:02 pm

    Warriors win 25-16.

  16. Cindy Luis January 29, 2016 8:16 pm

in for Set 3 are Frank and Rosenmeier. Don’t know if you’ll see Worsley other than to serve. They’re still working on the middle connection between Franciskovic and the middles.

Hawaii takes a 15-10 lead at the TTO.

  20. Cindy Luis January 29, 2016 8:36 pm

    Warriors finish sweep 25-17

  21. rayson January 29, 2016 9:48 pm

    2. Yeah who was that guy?

    14. Brett and Nainoa are progressing really nicely. Hopefully, Joe Grey’s more time as setter for the Sunday match.

Guess Kalei Greely had her surgery this week since she was wearing some sort of brace.

  22. Cindy Luis January 29, 2016 9:57 pm

    21. Greeley had surgery the 22nd. . as mentioned before she’ll be out for spring.
Don’t think you’ll see Worsley setting Sunday but you never know. They really want to get Franciskovic’s connection down, especially with the middles.

agree that Frank and Rosenmeier are coming along, and Solbrig even got a kill in the middle.

  23. Big Island VB fan January 29, 2016 10:31 pm

I could only see match highlights on the UH website. I saw Charlie Wade interviewed. So he arm-wrestled with Hendrik Mol and got his left arm broken. That wasn’t a smart thing to do. Now his arm will be in a cast during the volleyball season. Bummer!

  24. warriorfan January 29, 2016 11:34 pm

    21. I didn’t notice the new player, was he blonde and about 6’1 ? If so , it might have been Joe Worsley’s younger brother, who is a 2017 libero recruit (hope he commits to UH) since his parents are visiting.

  25. rayson January 30, 2016 12:43 am

    24. Don’t know if he was shown in the broadcast since I didn’t see it yet, but he was in the tunnel with the guys during the intro and he was also with the team when they getting their leis from the Aunties after the match. He wasn’t blonde.

I really hope Gage comes here, too.

  26. rayson January 30, 2016 12:57 am

    Was that Joel?

  27. vballfreak808 January 30, 2016 8:11 am

    24. Wasn’t Gage, kid was not blonde.

    25. Also wasn’t Joel, I believe. Kid looked like he could be a local around 6’2″ or 6’3″ and not even sure if he is a recruit. He shook hands with the other team after the match, can recruits even do that?

    https://youtu.be/tbZMo-JcJiI

Here is a replay of the match and the part where they show the kid, he is wearing the collared shirt.

  28. 'ohanaInBellingham January 30, 2016 12:18 pm

BIVF #23. The arm wrestle was one of a number of Wade’s glory stories. Per Kanoa, Wade fell while moving furniture.

Cindy, thanks for answering my questions about GCU & other Big West/MPSF additions. Very interesting to hear about GCU wanting to give up their “for-profit” status. Not surprised they are looking to leave MIVA, I could imagine a pretty brutal travel sched. It’s been entertaining to see the growth in Mens’ VB among the smaller schools. I guess it could be attributed to the absence of a FB program and the balance of gender equity among sports. Much more opportunity for our local boys to play at the next level.

  30. warriorfan January 30, 2016 2:32 pm

I read that Joel Schneidmiller is around 6′ 7 so couldn’t have been him, maybe he’s a team manager or something ? I don’t really expect 2017 recruits to make their visits until September when the wahine have their matches Hope Charlie and company can secure Schneidmiller, Gage Worsley, Hugh Hogland and Jaylen Jasper.

  31. 'ohanaInBellingham January 30, 2016 6:04 pm

It would be cool to have J. Worsley reprise his role as L from the Boys Youth National Team because having someone with offensive experience anchoring the UH defense would be incredible. However, his service game would be missed with Siki leaving. Plus, we already have Mamane and coming next year is DJ McInerny. Unless Gage is a standout, it would be a crowded L field.

  32. warriorfan January 30, 2016 6:25 pm

Gage is considered better at libero than Joe, and the best prospect at libero in all the 2016 and 2017 classes. He is projected to be much better in college than Mamnae and DJ and even Kolby, He would be a terrific get for the warriors and at 6 feet plus (he looks an inch or two taller than Joe) he would be able to cover more court.

  33. 'ohanaInBellingham January 31, 2016 6:54 am

Mahalo for that #32 perspective, warrorfan.

    new thread up.
    37. disagree about Worsley. even though he doesn’t practice libero, he is really good, good enough to make the starting lineup for the youth national team.
unfortunately for him, looks like he is burning a year as the backup this season and a second next year.
