Day 2 with the Wahine, Averill. Lipscomb, etc

Been told that Mitchem arrives Saturday, not sure if she’s been cleared to practice.
Tuesday morning, first 15 spent on stretching and exercises, then another 15 with peppering. Currently doing some passing drills with the goal of getting the ball into the ball cart.

Koelsch was taped high-thigh yesterday, nothing serious and isn’t taped this morning.
UH did get a commit from Shaney Lipscomb, 6-1 MB/Opp, who was at La Jolla Country Day but has transferred to Cathedral Catholic. spoke with her and club coach today. she’s very excited about UH.
USAV hasn’t released the official roster for World Cup but as mentioned on previous thread Taylor Averill is pictured on the World Cup page. USAV told me that it is the preliminary roster which means there will be cuts before the competition starts in September. But still a great thing for Averill.

love lipscomb. such a dynamite. probably gonna see her taking more reps on the outside because I don’t see her playing in the middle at hawai. reminds me of hartong but not as high of a jumper but you can totally see the potential the kid has.
hard to believe the new season is about to start up again.
nice video clips of the first day’s practice. they seemed to run a lot of drills hitting out of the back row. at least just in that video.

congrats to averill. i looked at the link to the roster real quick. it looks like he was the only player from the pan am games roster to make the preliminary roster for the world cup.
hope he makes the final roster!
correction — averill and johnson were the only pan am games players to make the world cup roster. both are MBs. and they did have two of the better performances for team usa from the pan am games.

1. still has two years to grow but agree if she’s only 6-1 … She said she’s mostly played OPP, played middle for club because they had lost 2 MBs.
2. they did a lot of different drills That was just one out of probably 15 different ones One new one, as mentioned yesterday, was the middles setting. Shoji said that the MBS have to learn to be able to do something with the off ball.
