This is tentative. Baxter had told me earlier this week that they were waiting on contracts to be signed. last year several teams cancelled late
But this is what went out to the boosters with their ticket renewal package.

not a great Big West schedule with all back to back except for last road trip.
I would think UH tries to change some of that especially since most of the teams coming in that is the lone match of the week for them.

    BYU wins 20-25, 26-24, 25-20, 21-25, 17 -15
not a great serving night either team. The Beach with 28 SEs, Cougars 20
Patch came in late in Set 5, first time he’s played in about six weeks.

  8. WARRIOR HOOPS March 24, 2017 6:53 pm

    Excited to watch tonight

  9. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:06 pm

no surprises. same starting lineup for Warriors. Mol, Tuileta, Fey, Gasman, Roseneier, van Tilburg

  10. Setaone March 24, 2017 7:09 pm

Cindy, why do you say Tui is a Junior, but everything UH has says he is a sophomore?

  11. WARRIOR HOOPS March 24, 2017 7:11 pm

    #12 on CSUN has BOUNCE!

  12. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:13 pm

Warriors up 9-6 via a 4-0 run and 2 blocks. TO CSUN

  13. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:15 pm

    10. Tuileta and Wade said he is a junior until they can appeal the NCAA ruling that says he burned a year of eligibility when playing in fall 2015.

  14. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:21 pm

Van Tilburg on the overpass of his own hit. UH up 15-12 at the TTO

  15. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:25 pm

two hitting errors by CSUN and UH up 18-13. TO Matadors.

  16. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:33 pm

Linesman with the right call. ball was down. 25-18.

  17. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:38 pm

UH challenging CSUN into the net, not Mol

  18. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:39 pm

UH wins the challenge. it’s 1-0

  19. WARRIOR HOOPS March 24, 2017 7:39 pm

Another reversed call to start the second set. After a service error we are tied 1-1

  20. Don March 24, 2017 7:50 pm

I hope the Big West enstates the video challenge system for all member schools. Seems as though it equalizes the calls out…

  21. WARRIOR HOOPS March 24, 2017 7:51 pm

Hawaii looks to have an answer for anything this CSUN team can throw at them

  22. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:51 pm

very athletic play by van Tilburg to save the ball, CSUN hits into the net. Warriors up 15-10 at the TTO

  23. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:55 pm

    20. don’t see it happening. It’s about money.
What I don’t understand is BYU televises all matches and they don’t have the challenge system there.

  24. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 7:59 pm

Mol blocked CSUN pulls to 20-19. TO UH

  25. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 8:03 pm

Hawaii with its 7th block. It’s 23-20. TO CSUN

  26. Don March 24, 2017 8:04 pm

    23. Not buying that reason. Advertising must be making the money to subsidize it. Otherwise, the league should cough up the funds in order to provide equity to all league members. Either that, or do what the FIVB does and have 4 line judges. BYU not having replay is inexcusable, espcially after what happened to Hawaii at BYU in the playoffs a few years back…

  27. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 8:06 pm

CSUN with an ace. Gasman back too far, IMHO, ducked late and no way to dig the won. It’s 23-22. TO UH

  28. WARRIOR HOOPS March 24, 2017 8:08 pm

    Hawaii takes set number 2

  29. WARRIOR HOOPS March 24, 2017 8:13 pm

Stijn leads the bows at the break with 9 kills on 15 attempts. UH looking to send us all home early with a 3rd set win.

  30. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 8:14 pm

    26. agree it is in excusable about BYU. but no one else in the Big West is televising men’s volleyball. there are some Pac-12 Network matches but that will be gone next year with the split with the MPSF.
Not sure what advertising money you mean.

  31. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 8:15 pm

Tacos? UH wins Set 2 25-23 Van Tilburg 9-0-15.

  32. blunite March 24, 2017 8:20 pm

The multitude of SEs (LBSU-BYU) gives some credence to Karch’s ban on jump serves. The pragmatic approach would be to dedicate more time to the service game.

CSUN’s fast sets (when in system) is a good reason why tough serves are necessary. All goes back to the passing game.

  33. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 8:34 pm

UH up 15-12. at the TTO

  34. Maverick March 24, 2017 8:41 pm

anyone else having issues with the livestream; mine cut off at intermission

  35. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 8:43 pm

Van Tilburg blocked, it’s 22-21. TO UH

  36. cruisecontrol March 24, 2017 8:45 pm

    34. Me too. Also cut off during a couple of the BaseBows games vs. Indiana.

  37. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 8:46 pm

Kalchev with his 10th kill. CSUN takes the lead at 23-22. TO UH

  38. blunite March 24, 2017 8:47 pm

    Some tough serves by CSUN

  39. cruisecontrol March 24, 2017 8:50 pm

I think I’m going to email Oceanic and ask them to look into this problem. Has happened several times now and is pretty frustrating when this happens in the middle of a game. Usually seems to happen when they go to a commercial break.

  40. Cindy Luis March 24, 2017 8:51 pm

Kalchev hits wide. UH up 25-24. TO CSUN

  41. blunite March 24, 2017 8:59 pm

These games are so close that hosting becomes very important. Road games seem so much more difficult. The crowd seems to make a difference.

  42. warriorfan March 24, 2017 9:09 pm

After seeing Long Beach and BYU play, what struck me is that both those teams have very good Opposites (like UH with Stijn) BUT they also have an equally as good all american level outside hitter and UH does not. I hope Coach Wade is looking at bringing in another foreign outside hitter for next season, hopefully a Stijn Van Tilburg level player. Of course unless he moves Stijn to the outside ( where he took some nice swings there tonight)
I also hope Austin and Brett improve a lot for next year.

  43. warriorfan March 24, 2017 9:34 pm

Fey though has been playing terrific at home, so wish BYU and Long Beach lose in the quarterfinals and UH has to host the MPSF tourney.

  44. T103 March 25, 2017 5:40 am

Man, #12 for CSUN has MAAAAD HOPS! I swear, he got wings. Can’t remember if if was 2nd or 3rd set, we had so many service errors, i don’t remember us having that many in one particular set. Well hopefully we get those bad serves out of the way. Did something happen between Kupono and the setter from CSUN? In the middle of the match, looked like whenever their setter went back to serve, through the net Kupono would raise his right arm and yell through the net “over here, over here , hey” like he was taunting him, which I thought u can’t do? And he only did it when that particular player went back to serve. And couple times he just glared through the net after a play at him, not sure if I’m making that up and it’s all in my head. Did anyone else catch this? In anycase, excited for tonight’s senior night. Go Warriors!

  45. Ron March 25, 2017 8:11 am

In the post-game interview Jennings said that there was a lot of”trash talk” but that is normal in the MPSF. He said that he uses it to motivate himself. CSUN is still a very good team capable of beating us if we let up at all. #12 is an amazing offensive weapon. Our middles need to close on the their left faster at least until they start using their middles. Gassman is a little slow and Mol is a little small so they need to anticipate better in MO.

  46. Ron March 25, 2017 8:46 am

Cindy, I enjoyed the write-up on Kupono. I was wearing a UH volleyball t-shirt at Lappert’s Wailea the other day and the girl asked me if I knew Kupono. I said that I had never met him but I was a fan. She told me her volleyball team had gone over to Oahu and she got Kupono’s autograph and that it was her prized possession. Now whenever I take my grand-daughter for an ice-cream we talk volleyball.

  47. islandman March 25, 2017 12:18 pm

    39. Could it be due to a problem with your internet provider or connection ? I’ve had some problems before with some UH basketball streams.

  48. Alumni March 25, 2017 1:33 pm

Rado is UH only hope of beating BYU or Long Beach or Ohio State. Coach Wade MUST replace Austin or Kapono or Rosey. Get Rado to practice heavy on receiving service and blocking…he is UH only hope of winning National Title this year. …Otherwise, Wade should resign.

  49. cruisecontrol March 25, 2017 2:31 pm

    47. I don’t think it’s my internet. All other sites I go to stream just fine at the time. It’s only the OC Sports stream that stops, and as with Maverick, at the breaks. It almost seems like someone forgets to turn the stream back on after the commercials, which are blacked out online.

  50. Alumni March 25, 2017 3:19 pm

Wade must have results! No excuses as my former boss used to say! Rado must play…Can you imagine if Cal Northridge’s Greene was benched?…Unacceptable!

  51. warriorfan March 25, 2017 3:55 pm

    50. Rado can’t pass, It’s really a shame, the men can’t have defensive specialists like the women, it would probably help with longer rallies. I too would move Stijn to the left right now to compete against BYU, Long Beach and Ohio State but I guess Coach Wade doesn’t want to disrupt the groove Stijn is in on the right side. I wonder if he might change his mind after the UCLA series, but Hopefully Fey, Rosie,Austin play very well against the Bruins, because UH can’t afford to have them play like they did in Provo and win.

My hope for next year is that Wade brings in a big time Outside ( like Costas Theocharidis) that can pass to replace Fey for next season or that Stijn gets comfortable on the left allowing Rado to get off the bench.

  52. Alumni March 25, 2017 4:05 pm

51: Still 2 weeks before playoffs to learn to pass. No excuses. Goal is National Title THIS year…not in the future. Rado might leave UH due to incompetent coaching..wouldn’t blame him!

  53. warriorfan March 25, 2017 4:12 pm

I do wonder if UH had beaten long beach the first game and then Rado didn’t struggle the second night, if Wade would have stuck with Stijn/Rado. I still think the team would have gone on that huge winning streak during that easy part of the schedule and things might have been different against BYU ( Rado didn’t get a chance against them)

  54. warriorfan March 25, 2017 4:15 pm

    52. I do worry about that, because he came in probably expecting to play right away and if Stijn doesn’t move to the left, he’s expected to sit on the bench for two more years??

  55. warriorfan March 25, 2017 4:18 pm

Stijn is playing like the best opposite in the nation right now, but I do think if Rado had played all season he would have put up similar numbers to Jonas Umlauft in his freshmen season, over 4 kills per set hitting around .250, which is incredible for a freshmen but nothing close to what Stijn is doing with nearly 5 kills and hitting over .400.
I do see why the coaches are sticking with Stijn because of that crazy production BUT I think Stijn would put up pretty big numbers on the left also, probably not hit over .400 though.

  56. warriorfan March 25, 2017 4:19 pm

When I think of Rado sitting on the bench for two more years, it just makes me sad he wasn’t redshirted this season, especially if he does not play much the rest of the season.

  57. Cindy Luis March 25, 2017 4:27 pm

    http://hawaiiwarriorworld.com/?p=42492
    new thread up for Saturday

    45. there was a lot of trash talking, mostly by CSUN, which is kind of their style. few times Fey said something through the net, which isn’t his style.

    46. thank you. enjoyed writing it.
48 and all your posts. Rado is an opposite. he wouldn’t replace any of the players you mention.
Don’t think they change things now but they may look at getting him and SVT on the court more next season together.
