Prior to transferring to Hawaii, Hayden Gibson led Louisiana-Lafayette with five goals as a sophomore in 2012, including three game winners.

She started 11 matches last season in her first year with the Rainbow Wahine and fired 18 shots without finding the net. The drought ended on Friday when she scored UH’s final goal in a 3-1 win over Eastern Washington in the Montana Invitational.

Gibson pounced on the rebound when Ryan Daniel’s shot hit the crossbar and pounded in the first goal of her UH career, sparking a bounding celebration.

Gibson’s goal was UH’s 20th of the season. The Rainbow Wahine close a 12-day, four-match road trip against Montana on Sunday in Missoula.
