The 2014 Big West soccer season was a disappointing one for Hawaii, but the Rainbow Wahine did not go into the offseason totally empty-handed.

Three Wahine — senior Krystal Pascua, junior Lidia Battaglia and sophomore Storm Kenui — were named to the All-Big West second team on Wednesday.

Pascua notched four goals and two assists in her final season at UH. Battaglia anchored a young defense which managed to post shutouts in its final two matches of the year. The versatile midfielder Kenui had a team-high six goals and two assists.

In addition, forward Sonest Furtado was named to the all-freshman team and sophomore Kama Pascua was an all-league honorable mention.

Furtado scored four goals with a team-high three assists and the younger Pascua, a preseason first-team pick, netted five goals with two assists.

UH (7-10-1 overall, 2-5-1 Big West), which finished in eighth place, did not receive any specialty awards for position players of the year or coach of the year.

The complete list of awards may be found here.

Michele Nagamine‘s team will attempt to make its first Big West Conference tournament in 2015. UH is expected to have Tiana Fujimoto, the team’s leading scorer in 2013, back after redshirting this season due to injury.

Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly, Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge comprise this year’s BWC tournament, which begins Thursday in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
