Mililani grad Antolin makes big league debut

Over the weekend Dustin Antolin became the first Mililani High School alumnus to be called up to the Major Leagues.

The Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher made his first appearance Monday night. He relieved in the third inning of the Jays’ 13-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. Antolin allowed three runs in two innings, including a home run among four hits. But he did notch a strikeout.

Hopefully he gets a chance to redeem himself soon.

On Sunday, Antolin talked to reporters about how he almost quit the game before this season after eight years in the minor leagues. He was drafted in the 11th round by Toronto in 2008.

Great story on perseverance but if he quit or is not able to make roster, I hope he has plans to fall back on. It’s great that kids are able to pursue dreams but this should come long with plans for the future.
Looking to watch him on tv.
