Mariota to present award at Poly Hall event

Marcus Mariota, the 2014 Heisman Trophy winner from Honolulu and Saint Louis School, will appear at the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Celebration Dinner on Jan. 29 at the Hawaii Convention Center.

Mariota, the former Oregon star who just completed his rookie season as the Tennessee Titans starting quarterback, will present the Polynesian College Player of the Year Award he won last year to Notre Dame offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley, this year’s recipient.

The Hall’s inductee class of 2016 will also be honored. It includes Charlie Ane, Rockne Freitas, Al Lolotai, Troy Polamalu and Vai Sikahema.

Over 600 tickets have been sold, but some are still available for the dinner, as well as the Jan. 30 enshrinement ceremony at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Go to http://www.polynesianfootballhof.org for more information.
