Fundraiser for Jeremy Ioane set for May 3

A fundraiser to help Jeremy Ioane is scheduled for May 3, 1 to 4 p.m. at Murphy’s Bar & Grill.

Ioane is the Hawaii all-state high school athlete and college football player who played his last two seasons at Boise State and graduated while battling an auto-immune disease that decimated his kidney function.

Ioane undergoes dialysis treatments several times a week and is awaiting a kidney transplant. His health insurance as a Boise State athlete expired in January and medical expenses are rising.

Information on how to purchase fundraiser tickets at $100 each online will be available soon. Meanwhile, donations are being accepted at all First Hawaiian Bank branches or can be mailed to “Friends of Jeremy Ioane” at P.O. Box 300333, Kaaawa, HI 96730. Also, more information is available by emailing 808forjeremyioane@gmail.com

The fundraiser event will include food, music, drinks and a silent auction.

Organizers are also working with the National Kidney Foundation to raise awareness about organ donation registry and other ways to help prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases and improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected.
