UH in discussions for Russell Wilson Passing Academy

If final details can be worked out, a truly big-time quarterback will visit the University of Hawaii football facilities next spring.

Unfortunately, Russell Wilson’s college eligibility is expired. But Scott Pickett, the director of the Russell Wilson Passing Academy, has exchanged emails and had a phone conversation with UH athletic director Ben Jay about the QB of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks doing his popular one-day camp here.

A tentative date is April 11, on the grass practice fields or at Ching Field. The camp is for ages 8-17 and usually also includes some of Wilson’s teammates.

UH would receive a rental fee, in addition to some really nice positive exposure. After all, who doesn’t like Russell Wilson?

Make it happen! And could the age range be expanded to include the UH quarterbacks? They are in dire need of a “passing clinic.”

Nice! Any positive exposure for Hawaii and UH is good.

Agree, too bad the 1 day QB camp cannot include UH QB’s. I think UH Qb’s can benefit from any instruction given to them.

Perhaps the UH QB’s could “volunteer” to “assist’ and catch some pointers??? GO BOWS!!!

You really think a one day camp will make a major difference in any QB?

    Warrior Dave,
The passing clinic is a clinic for ages 8-17. One day with Wilson and teammates can make a world of difference.

Yes, and for kids, just being around a guy like Wilson can be a good thing … I mean, unless he’s got some evil side we don’t know of yet, Russell Wilson seems like a great inspirational figure for young folks … as well as living proof you don’t have to be huge physically to be a successful athlete.

    Russell, you get pen?

This would be the type of positive exposure the University desperately needs. Hopefully Ben Jay can get this deal done!

warrior dave: yes. have you ever been to camps similar to this? even if it’s one day, you can learn a lot of things from them, including drills and concepts that you can practice on your own when you get home.

Saw Russell Wilson at the bowl game in Florida when he played for NC State. Totally reminded me of Colt Brennan.
