“It’s like a big family”

The meet-greet-here’s-your-seat tour continued with Nick Rolovich delivering season tickets and a Las Vegas travel package to Hilary and Velerie Orillo yesterday in Wahiawa.

Hilary said he has been a season-ticket subscriber since the “Tomey days.”

In the early year, his brother would buy the tickets, they would divide them, and Hilary would pay for his share. Several years ago, his brother moved to a different section. But Hilary decided to stay put — in the blue section.

“It’s like a big family,” Hilary said of the neighboring fans in his section. “You don’t want to leave because you grew up with them. Every season we see them. It’s like a reunion.”

    Cappie:
It’s pretty cool that he made it through the independent league.

#9 H-Man, also hoping he will be alright. TV news mentioned a back injury. His parents are on the way here.

Maybe incoming freshman get a heads up on beach dangers as to diving in shallow water, Sandy Beach, Northshore waves in the winter, rip currents, hiking trails, etc. Or perhaps this already done by the football staff.

Hate to say it but UH may have to implement a ban for players from certain beaches or rivers, especially for the guys that were not raised in the islands. If not a ban maybe a course they must take on water safety and places not to attend in recreational activities.

Willie, KITV 10 o’clock news reports that Kalepo suffered a spine injury and underwent several hours of surgery. Hoping for the best.

Spinal surgery, I was afraid that would be the case; hope it’s not one that leaves him paralyzed, but at the height of his dive and the body weight on top of that? And I also had spinal neck surgery about 12 years ago, don’t know if it’s one of those things related to my earlier episodes when I was younger that finally caught up to me??

I grew up at the “Walls”.
The water was maybe 5 feet deep at the point of groin.
“Us crazy Kids” would jump in to the water and on an extremely high tide bolstered by good waves we would dive head first. However, we would time our entry with a wave thus giving us more depth and you had to pick the deeper spots.

There were a lot of reef which created high spots.

So, if you didn’t know what you were doing it is a dangerous spot.

I am sure there a signs restricting or prohibting diving/jumping, etc.

So you had to familiar with the waters and grounds.
