Hope everyone is staying dry.

Some observations:
>> Nevels won’t be losing his starting job in the backcourt anytime soon.
>> Fotu, in his first real action of the preseason, was keen to shoot from the outside and got more confident with his jumper as play progressed.
>> Bobbitt wasn’t shooting well, but had several nice steals, a couple in the open court. You could see why he topped the JUCO ranks in that stat last year.
>> Fleming impressed Gib Arnold with his point guard play. The coach indicated previously Fleming would play almost entirely the off-guard spot for the preseason, but that could change if Smith has to miss any time.
>> Smith landed hard on his back while converting a layup early on. He hobbled off and watched the rest of the scrimmage on the side. Arnold thought he might have had a flare-up of his back problem from last season, but didn’t know for sure. If he misses much time, Bobbitt is in the driver’s seat for the starting PG job.
>> Thomas started very strong with nine points in the first 10-minute period. His scoring dipped from there but it was an overall positive showing.
>> Jankovic was rusty in some of his first extended fullcourt play of the preseason coming off his knee ailment.
>> Jovanovic was struggling, but then put together four straight hook shot buckets for his squad in the final 10-minute period.
>> Enos, Buscher and Stepteau were the “reserves” during the scrimmages, though Enos stepped into his teams’ first fives once Smith went out.
