Johnson gets a title

At long last, Zane Johnson has a title on Eran Ganot‘s coaching staff.

Johnson, who joined Ganot in Manoa shortly after Ganot was introduced in April, couldn’t be found on the team’s roster page until now.

“What’s Zane’s position?” was a frequent question in the months since.

Johnson will be a graduate manager this season. That’s an unpaid position, but one that could give the most prolific 3-point shooter in program history a foot in the door for an assistant coach job in the future. Coaching is something he wants to do, and he spoke warmly of getting to work with Ganot, who helped recruit Johnson as a transfer from Arizona back in 2009 back when Ganot was a UH assistant under Bob Nash.

Johnson received a loud hand from the crowd upon his P.A. introduction at the Green and White scrimmage on Saturday. It was a callback to his days of curling around screens for one of his 180 career triples.
