Gameday: Cal State Northridge

Did Hawaii save some of its offensive fireworks from the other night for tonight?

We could be in for another entertaining battle as UH (7-9, 1-2 Big West) takes on Cal State Northridge (7-10, 3-1).

CSUN leads the conference in both scoring and points allowed. But by all accounts, the Matadors have re-committed to defense coming off their embarrassing nonconference loss to non-Division I team Bethesda in December.

Noah Allen will start in place of Sheriff Drammeh. Drammeh, who was dealing with an undisclosed ailment this week, will come off the bench for the first time this season.

Kendall Smith, the younger brother of former UH guard Quincy, is the Big West’s second-leading scorer and top assist man. He gets the Matadors going, but there are plenty of other weapons for Reggie Theus.

UH, which has won four straight in the series, is favored by 2.5 points. The Rainbow Warriors last dropped a game to the Matadors in the first round of the 2014 Big West tournament.

Hard to imagine Noah Allen was a bench-reserve player for UCLA. Bows are playing good, exciting ball. Give a lot of credit to coach Ganot and his staff for putting together a team virtually from scratch.

They did it again! Unbelievable !! Ganot credits the crowd. I have to agree. But Allen was phenomenal. Wow, what a win.

    Ganot, man.

This guy knows what he is doing.

Brocke Stepteau is better than Shamberger.
