Gameday: Cal State Fullerton

Cal State Fullerton will attempt to spoil Hawaii’s “Whiteout” senior night.

It’s got the makings of a large senior night “Whiteout” crowd at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Rainbow Warriors can inject themselves into the muddled top half of the Big West with a win over Cal State Fullerton, while also sending off Noah Allen in his final home game. Meanwhile, Riley Wallace, Jim Leahey and Tony “Bones” Davis are set to be inducted into the University of Hawaii Sports Circle of Honor at halftime.

Allen is already in rare territory when it comes to his 30-point outbursts this season, but should he again tonight, he’ll be on a very short list. Only Gavin Smith and Tom Henderson have five 30s to their names in UH lore. Smith, Allen’s predecessor as a one-and-done transfer from UCLA, is the only one to do it in a single season.

Fullerton prevailed 67-64 to open up Big West play on Jan. 5. Both teams, however, are considerably different since then. Both think they’ve gotten better.

Sheriff Drammeh will start for the sixth straight game, with Leland Green coming off the bench for the third in a row.

How UH matches up with Fullerton’s smallball lineup will be interesting to see. The Titans like to plug in swingman Khalil Ahmad at the 4, usually off the bench. Will UH slide Allen down to the 4 when that happens, or will they go zone?

UH is favored by 3.5 points.

Without Noah Allen, this team wins seven to ten games.

    Thank you, Noah Allen.

You seem like a nice guy, too.

Hope you get invited to Portsmouth.
