Wahine a bit decimated by the flu. Down to one middle in Sky Williams.
Two of the seniors from last year are available to play in Angel Gaskin and McKenna Granato.
They’re going to try to play at least 3.
This should be interesting. Someone forgot to schedule the refs so they’ve pulled one certified out of the stands. Kaleo Baxter the up ref.

ICYMI on earlier thread, McKendree upset BYU in 4 tonight.

Cindy – Who’s playing opposite for UH?
Trying to figure out what the rotation is from the stats/serving order but am pretty confused. With one middle, is Williams staying up front and Hanawahine staying in back (so Hanawahine serves every three rotations)? Sibley on opposite and Ross/Rasmussen outside? Must be different with only Williams able to play middle.
3. no real opposite.
lot of left-side hitting.
Nice to see Kirsten playing. Jolie and Kyra look solid.
4. Agreed. Being as it’s an exhibition match and UH seems shorthanded, the usual stuff is out the window. Seeing as how Sibley only has 6 TA vs. double digits for Ross & Rasmussen, I guess Sibley might be playing opposite, but who knows?
4. if you go to the live stats there is a link to play-by-play. you can see the serving rotation there.
5. Thanks Cindy. Wish I could be there to watch it.
7. Sibley hitting both right and left. Ross on the right as well.
Sky in the front all rotations…sleep well tonight
Cindy, where is Evan Lee? Angelica?
Does Jolie look as good as her stat line?!
It was a great game. Coach Robyn did an amazing job recruiting the two players (Kyla and Jolie) from Oregon. It helps that they played together and are comfortable together. Jolie is a beast. She went after a ball and dented a pole and bounced right back into the game without skipping a beat. I am trying to think of the players who were missing.
14. I agree with you totally. Jolie is a Beast! She is a phenomenal 6 rotation player. When you watch Texas warm-up with all their All-American High School and All American NCAA 2nd Team and Honorable Mention Players , you would think , ” oh boy this will be fast work for them!” Our gritty girls short staffed played so much better out of system than Texas. Jolie can terminate OTT style and create shots. She really knows when to go hard , high hands, and when to switch to a roll shot. Her kills has the heat of the Texas best players when she wants to unleash! And, Jolie can serve receive amazingly! She is the price of admission and more. I thought Ross, Sibley., and Williams played very well despite of their roles last year. Norene did a nice job setting . Kyra Hanawahine handled the back row very well and looks ready to compete. The Oregon duo brings more excitement and communication leadership to this club…Wait til August when we find another Freshman to maybe complement Jolie. Thank you Jolie and Kyra for coming to Hawaii. Thank you Oregon for letting us have them.
This season will be fun, exciting, and very promising. Everyone who don’t attend will truly miss out
Trinity Castaneda not listed and not on court. Did she transfer? Wahine has a terminator in Rasmussen. Hawaii lucky to have her. Skyler did a nice job, but need help in the middle. Great match for spring exhibition.
In future exhibition games, they should have the line judges look a little more professional (not kids and at least wear shoes)! The new Oregon girls look great and will be a good addition to the team!
@ 16 yup Trinity is gone. She transferred out. But aside from that, this hawaii team this season will be special. they will be amazing, they did amazing against Texas, and that’s them playing incomplete too.
Anyone know if the middle Krug (forgot her first name), from that Hawaiian Immersion school is still on the team? Didn’t hear her name mentioned by anyone so just asking.

12. Team hit with flu bug. Aven was there. spoke to her in the hallway.
13. Yes she does. considering that she had food poisoning this week and was pretty gassed after the match … she really played well. Very dynamic. reminds me a little of Hartong, just because she’ll keep swinging and seems always available for a set.
14. Ah Mow-Santos did not recruit Hanawahine or Rasmussen. They approached Hawaii about transferring. Wouldn’t exactly call it a pole. She ran into the barrier that holds up the material barrier between the seats and the court.
15. don’t think it’s complete accurate to say Oregon “let” Hawaii have these players. True hey were granted a release and can play immediately. I don’t know of their scholarship situation. If they weren’t on scholarship, they could leave and play immediately. If they were, they needed a release or have to sit out a year.
16. We mentioned earlier that Castaneda had transferred out. my understanding that homesickness came into play.
17. Thought I had mentioned they had an issue with NO officials. They had to pull the down ref and linesmen out of the stands. Assistant coach Kaleo Baxter was the up ref. So they took who they could get as long as they were certified. They also had to find an official scorer. Otherwise there might not have been any live stats. Team had been dealing with flu and other ailments, which included the coaching staff.
19. Have mentioned before that Krug was not cleared to play after having knee surgery. She was in practices but only to help. You can always got to Hawaiiathletics.com for the roster. Although not updated from fall. First name is Kamalei.
